Ordered via delivery app so this review is strictly for the food. Was craving soup so I decided to go with the classic Albondigas. The meatballs were HUGE but lacked any big flavor as did the broth sadly. The vegetables were well cooked and soft so that was a plus. Super glad I got a small taco on side the because that was the prize. The Al pastor was juicy and where the soup lacked flavor, it was definitely in the taco. Besides Vietnamese cuisine, my favorite is Mexican. I happened to walk around my new workplace and found a cute spot that has a nice garden, so I decided to stop in for lunch. This restaurant's menu is full of goodies. I had been craving a burrito all week, and as soon as I took the first bite, I knew I was in the right place. The al pastor was perfectly seasoned, the avocado was fresh, and the tortilla was perfectly grilled. I wished it would never end. I love the outdoor seating; it would be a perfect place to have a few drinks, socialize, and enjoy delicious food. The restaurant is clean and my waiter was super nice. I joined my monthly lunch gang at Las Cazuelas, as recommended by one of my friends. They have indoor seating, but you have to sit outside since they have a beautiful patio. There was so much to choose from on the menu, and I finally decided on the Burrito Bowl with carnitas. What can I say? It was delicious! The carnitas was tender and delectable. Came in Sunday morning from Watsonville, everything was excellent the food and the service I got from Jose was great. He offered many options that I got like el Plato grande and mojarra. The waitresses will deliver food to a table and then walk back inside without doing a glance around at the other tables --makes it hard to flag them. It's been ages since I've been back to Las Cazuelas, and it's just as good as I remember! The food is hands down the best Mexican food I've had in the Bay Area. Coming from LA, it's hard to find Mexican food here that tastes as fresh as street food or taco truck food, where everything is made by hand in small batches--but Las Cazuelas does it perfectly. I always get the breakfast burrito, and it never disappoints. The salsas are the highlight, super tasty and full of flavor. They're the perfect addition to any dish. The homemade chips are also amazing, crispy, fresh, and served with every meal. The watermelon agua fresca is also a must-try, refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. Did a burrito challenge/taste test between this spot and Taqueria 2, on Park.... Las Cazuelas was the burrito winner. Pros- both super burritos were good, they actually had similar ingredients (steak, chicken, rice, sour cream, and avocado). Las Cazuelas' burrito had a little more flavor and was the family favorite. They give complimentary chips and salsa, even on to go orders. Taqueria 2 only gives you complimentary chips if you dine in. If you want chips at Taqueria 2, you'll have to pay for chips to go... Actually, Las Cazuelas gave us a basket while we waited for our order. I had to ask, but they still gave it to us, no problem! My son ordered their steak fajitas which he polished pretty quickly. And even though he said he wanted no part of my burrito taste test (he said I was nuts for going to two places), he also ate quite a bit of my burritos too! Teenagers!! Another pro, If you drive a Tesla - I think their parking lot is a speciality charging station-I saw a ton of Teslas there charging. Oh, yes, they have their own parking lot, a huge pro! Taqueria 2 does as well, but theirs has a funky layout. Cons- horchata was $6.00 without refills. Some Mexican spots (Taqueria El Abuelo for example in WG) give free refills, even on their "specialty juices/drinks", not the case here. I ordered their beef soup with vegetables in addition to the burrito and I've definitely had better. For their soup, they used corned beef. It was a little saltier than I'm used to because of that. Threw me off when I first opened the container since the meat was also on the super pink side (and quite fatty). There were only two pieces of meat (which equaled to very little meat once you cut the fat off too), 2 carrot slices, 3 zucchini slices, and 1 small corn on the cob slice. Felt skimpy. So rating of a 4, since for the burrito challenge, they came out on top. But overall, a few things that were disappointing, which is why I'm not able to give them a 5. Ok, so here we go it's time to buckle up because this was a full-on test of my patience. I've been a loyal customer for YEARS. Since the days of the sandbox, we've been talking for a long time. Why because family parties, office parties, and lunches. Yes, this was my go-to. I even would make this a pit stop before the Sharks game, filling enough to have all the energy for the game. But let me tell you, the last interaction was not smooth at all. I won't bore you with the details (because honestly, it gives my blood pressure spike) but let's just say if you're trying to woo or impress a customer especially a potential organization that could speak highly, treating them with respect is the winning strategy. Things have happened in the past but this one screamed louder than ever. I'm normally pretty chill especially when it comes to language barriers. Misunderstandings happen, it's all a part of the process we call life, but this time? This wasn't a simple "Lost in translation" type of moment. This was full-blown disrespect and was served with a side of "I don't care" and guess what? That's pretty messed up and it messed up our event too. I had the biggest SMH faceplant moment courtesy of my favorite taqueria in the area. So yeah, my business is gone. I' vanished like Covid. Stayed around for years and are now gone without any signs. You see even if they are giving back to the community, how they treat the actual people spending money speaks volumes. It's like waking up on the wrong side of the bed on a Monday morning; the whole week is messed up. Think about it from a marketing perspective: Make a bunch of people mad with bad service communication etc, and they tell EVERYONE. Happy customers? Ehhhh they might say it was good or they had a good time. It's just basic human nature. See I was that person who used to rave about this place, now I'm writing. See the proof in the pudding. All in all it took this to happen- direct disrespect aimed at me and the organization I was representing to make me say "hasta la vista". Finding another spot is not hard not even replacing the convenience cause they are on every corner. Treat your customers with a little decency. It's not rocket science and it's truly the golden rule. I requested a Chilli Rellnois meal.. With my meal I got refried beans some Spanish rice 2 chili and very hot and warm 4 corn tortillas, along with a bag of chips.. I requested pickle jalapeño peppers ,, but they substituted three different types of hot pepper sauce... Which were much much better than what I had requested. I just love them. I was under the impression that most Mexican restaurant food tasted the same, especially when it came to the Spanish rice and the refried beans .. WOW was I wrong here?.. THE SPANISH RICE WAS ABSOLUTELY COOKED TO PERFECTION AND TASTED GREAT.... AND REFRIED BEANS, THOUGH A LITTLE BIT ON THE RUNNING SIDE WAS SIMPLY MARVELOUS... My boyfriend and I came here for their buffet after seeing it on Instagram. It's about $32/person before tips. We wrote our name down on the notepad on the table and they called our name when a table was ready. They had a nice buffet spread with a lot of variety. Great lunch experience today. The watermelon aqua fresca was perfect. That would be great on a warm summer day. The complimentary chips and salsa were yummy. The salsa had a nice kick without overpowering cilantro or onions. My carnitas platter was the perfect service. Rice was a little bland but the beans were good and salty. The carnitas were a little dry and could have used a little more fat. Hubbys chimichanga was a little bland as well and could have used more spices. I visited yesterday morning and had an incredible meal. Came for the chilaquiles with carne asada (amazing suggestion by our waitress!), stayed for the café de olla so good I forgot to take a pic! Love that they serve breakfast all day. The ambiance is wonderful it has a very warm, cozy, and welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to stay and enjoy your meal. Came back today for my son's nachos and their agua fresca (pepino) is delicious and they were 10/10. However, I was sad to see a customer complaining to the waitress over something silly. I'm not sure why this place is short of 4 stars. It's 5 star tastes, service and outdoor ambiance. Watermelon margaritas and aqua fresca were a great summer treat. Sundays offer a buffet but menu options are still available. I enjoyed a carnitas burrito. Salsa, guacamole and chips were perfect too. Everyone working was friendly and attentive. Our first visit two weeks ago was great -- good food, good service -- so much so that we told our friends, family, and colleagues about it. As a local Gilroy resident, business owner, and someone in the service industry, I was eager to support them. We even found them on TikTok and were happy to promote our new "find." Yesterday was our second visit... and our last. We ordered 4 brunches (about $27 each) and chose to sit inside since it was less busy -- especially important for our autistic child. Drinks were ordered: 3 Chavelas and 1 Mimosa. One of the Chavelas accidentally tipped over right after arriving (their cups are ceramic, wider on top and narrow at the bottom -- easy to tip). We immediately asked for help. They cleaned it up and brought another drink. When the bill came, we noticed they charged us for the spilled drink -- even though it was untouched aside from tipping over. We politely mentioned this and asked if the manager could review. The server returned, with attitude, and said there was "nothing they could do" and the charge would remain. Here's the thing: I understand accidents happen -- I'm in the service industry myself -- but the way they handled this showed zero customer care. For the sake of $12, they lost not only our business, but also the business of all the people we've been recommending them to. Sometimes it's not about the money; it's about how you make your customers feel. A replacement drink, or even a kinder attitude, would have kept us as loyal patrons. Instead, they showed they value a single drink over long-term customers. For $12, they lost thousands in future business -- and my respect. read more

The main attraction of this place is its patio and outdoor tables, while the inside is small and not very appealing. So, if you don't like to eat outside or it's a cold and windy day, it's better to avoid this place because it will ruin your experience. The staff, mostly female, is very attentive and friendly. They welcome you with a basket of tortilla chips and salsa, and you can enjoy their buffet on Sundays. Although I wasn't hungry enough to take advantage of the buffet, I saw it, and it looked and smelled delicious. I would come back to try it. Bonus point: they make the tortillas by hand right in front of you. They offer an extensive menu at very affordable prices. However, for some reason, I decided to try their breakfast burrito and was pleasantly surprised. It had a manageable size and was filling at the same time. I'm always looking for more good local Mexican spots. So I was excited to try this one after all the rave reviews on Check Please. Sorry to say I was disappointed. The atmosphere is great, as advertised. And the service was friendly if not so efficient (apparently we caught them toward the end of a busy shift). Sadly, I was not too happy about their version of my beloved chavela. And the food was decent (meaning above average for the Bay), but not special. Interesting (to me anyway) that there is a Mexico Lindo right next door, which never seems to get any mention. Could it be that the direct competition is not quite competitive enough to rise above? Or maybe it was just an off night. But that shouldn't happen at weekend dinner service. Maybe we'll try again for brunch, which they're known for. Just thinking out loud here... read more
