    Flautas (4)

I went today at around 5pm. It was not busy so didn't have to wait to be seated. I ordered flautas of chicken. It was okay, I just was not wowed by them.

    Bigger hominy pieces than tripe

Our usual menudo place moved recently and we have been on the hunt for a new authentic place that serves menudo, we decided to try Las Cazuelas, boy what a waste of money, my hubby called it " agua de grano" more hominy than tripe and the hominy was tough like it needed more cooking time. Tripe was fatty and very few edible pieces. Save your money and keep it moving don't fall for a pic of clean tripe and no hominy traditional menudo THIS PLACE IS NOT IT!

Besides Vietnamese cuisine, my favorite is Mexican. I happened to walk around my new workplace and found a cute spot that has a nice garden, so I decided to stop in for lunch. This restaurant's menu is full of goodies. I had been craving a burrito all week, and as soon as I took the first bite, I knew I was in the right place. The al pastor was perfectly seasoned, the avocado was fresh, and the tortilla was perfectly grilled. I wished it would never end. I love the outdoor seating; it would be a perfect place to have a few drinks, socialize, and enjoy delicious food. The restaurant is clean and my waiter was super nice. I will definitely be back often to try other items on the menu.

I joined my monthly lunch gang at Las Cazuelas, as recommended by one of my friends. They have indoor seating, but you have to sit outside since they have a beautiful patio. There was so much to choose from on the menu, and I finally decided on the Burrito Bowl with carnitas. What can I say? It was delicious! The carnitas was tender and delectable. Our waiter was very friendly and had a sense of humor. He provided excellent service.

A true neighborhood gem! Awesome backyard patio with lots of decorations and heat lamps. The homemade salsas are to die for. Free chips and salsa. The camarones a la diabla were fantastic. I asked for a spoon to eat all the red sauce. Beware it is spicy! Graciela the manager was there and personally served our dishes. Price point is so affordable. I will be back for the Sunday AYCE brunch buffet!

It's been ages since I've been back to Las Cazuelas, and it's just as good as I remember! The food is hands down the best Mexican food I've had in the Bay Area. Coming from LA, it's hard to find Mexican food here that tastes as fresh as street food or taco truck food, where everything is made by hand in small batches--but Las Cazuelas does it perfectly. I always get the breakfast burrito, and it never disappoints. The salsas are the highlight, super tasty and full of flavor. They're the perfect addition to any dish. The homemade chips are also amazing, crispy, fresh, and served with every meal. The watermelon agua fresca is also a must-try, refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. If you're looking for fresh, authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go!

The location is beautiful, good customer service, great portion sizes and the flavor is perfect.

Food is amazing, the breakfast is spot on the way I like it. Not too hot, perfect consistency.

Taqueria 2 on the left, bigger in size, but not in flavor....

Did a burrito challenge/taste test between this spot and Taqueria 2, on Park.... Las Cazuelas was the burrito winner. Pros- both super burritos were good, they actually had similar ingredients (steak, chicken, rice, sour cream, and avocado). Las Cazuelas' burrito had a little more flavor and was the family favorite. They give complimentary chips and salsa, even on to go orders. Taqueria 2 only gives you complimentary chips if you dine in. If you want chips at Taqueria 2, you'll have to pay for chips to go... Actually, Las Cazuelas gave us a basket while we waited for our order. I had to ask, but they still gave it to us, no problem! My son ordered their steak fajitas which he polished pretty quickly. And even though he said he wanted no part of my burrito taste test (he said I was nuts for going to two places), he also ate quite a bit of my burritos too! Teenagers!! Another pro, If you drive a Tesla - I think their parking lot is a speciality charging station-I saw a ton of Teslas there charging. Oh, yes, they have their own parking lot, a huge pro! Taqueria 2 does as well, but theirs has a funky layout. Cons- horchata was $6.00 without refills. Some Mexican spots (Taqueria El Abuelo for example in WG) give free refills, even on their "specialty juices/drinks", not the case here. I ordered their beef soup with vegetables in addition to the burrito and I've definitely had better. For their soup, they used corned beef. It was a little saltier than I'm used to because of that. Threw me off when I first opened the container since the meat was also on the super pink side (and quite fatty). There were only two pieces of meat (which equaled to very little meat once you cut the fat off too), 2 carrot slices, 3 zucchini slices, and 1 small corn on the cob slice. Felt skimpy. So rating of a 4, since for the burrito challenge, they came out on top. But overall, a few things that were disappointing, which is why I'm not able to give them a 5. I will come back though whenever we have a burrito craving as right now, they seem to have the best burritos in the local area.

    Fantastic outdoor patio.

Good Mexican restaurant on Race St. Food was good and server was very friendly. The patio is very spacious and just the spot on a nice day. The enchilladas were very good, but a little watery. Burrito bowl was great - all the fixins' of a good burrito without the tortilla. Service was quick to start, but then we had to wait a long time for our check. Plenty of parking in the lot next door. We'll probably come back again and try a few more things on the menu.

Food was great. It was our 2nd time going. However the michladas were very very weak. We will go back when we're in the area.

Las Cazuelas Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Las Cazuelas

    Are the salsas vegetarian?

To the best of my knowledge yes but you can always call and ask.

Does this restaurant provide catering services for a large event (100-150 people)?

Is Menudo served here daily or just on weekends?

I believe every day. Alot of Mexican restaurants do cook menudo only on Sundays. If I'm wrong, I know that El Pirrin on San Antonio St between King Rd. and Jackson Ave does make it every day.

How is the Sunday brunch here? I've read mixed reviews about little options or a lot of choices? Is it mainly breakfast items or what are the types of dishes they serve, including dessert?

Looks good but not a big variety

They had some Fanime specials for the con (katsu and egg salad sandwiches, spam musubi), seasonal drinks, of course coffees and teas, and non caffeinated drinks, as well as some food too (heated up pastries, both sweet and savory). There's a restroom with a code and a couple seats and tables with outlets to charge your devices. Service was welcoming and efficient especially after the crowds started to pick up. I got the: 1) Egg Salad Sando: -You can tell these were handmade in store. They had cute washi tape to hold the packaging together. -Solid egg salad sandwich. Slightly sweet white bread and generous amount of egg salad inside the sandwich. Creamy mayo taste that isn't too sour or tart, lots of egg in it. Perfect for an anime con next door. 2) Cappuccino: -I got this no sugar and sugar free and it came out with some pretty latte art. I thought it was mostly ok and boyfriend thought so too, but after several sips and when it was too late since we really had to get to the con, it just became too disgustingly sweet for him and he had to throw it away. 3) Yuzu Fresh Fruit Sparkler: -Yuzu puree with sparkling soda water. -Refreshing and not bad, but even after mixing this was a bit sweeter than what I would have liked and again, in our rush to leave, we couldn't really get this adjusted. I ended up pouring most of it in a water bottle to enjoy later and put in my bag. But ended up not finishing it in the end. Maybe next year I'll try again or just stick to the food stuffs.

It took about 20-30 minutes for her to come back and take our food order after we placed our initial drink orders with her. Throughout the dinner, her demeanor felt very passive aggressive, and there were several moments where we felt like we were being given attitude despite everyone in our group being polite. My friend asked for extra olives with his martini and she responded with a rude "Really?" while making a face. It was such an unnecessary reaction to a totally simple and normal request. She also recommended that we order family style, which we followed, but the pacing between courses was extremely slow. We waited around 30+ minutes between our pasta and our protein entrees. For a restaurant that specifically recommends family style dining, the courses should be paced more appropriately so the table isn't sitting around waiting for the next round of food. The birthday cake situation was also frustrating. We had given our cake to the hostess when we arrived, but I guess our server was never notified of that. When I asked about a candle, she said she would bring it out with the birthday dessert, but brought out the restaurant's dessert instead. When she realized we had our own cake, she immediately took the bill back and said she needed to add the cake fee. The issue with that was we weren't asking them to cut or plate the cake. We just wanted to sing Happy Birthday, then have it boxed back up. She had assumed we wanted the cake service without actually asking us, and when we clarified, her response was, "Well, that's why I asked earlier," even though she hadn't actually asked us. None of us gave her a hard time or were anything but polite throughout the evening, which made the repeated attitude especially disappointing. The food wasn't terrible and the drinks were great, the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, but spending around $900, which included a 20% automatic gratuity, you'd expect the service to match the price point, even though service should always be good regardless. Unfortunately, the poor service really overshadowed what was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner for my friend and left all of us with a bad taste in our mouths.

When walking, we missed the restaurant initially because this place is clearly, a hidden gem, especially being hidden along the nightclub strip. We were blown away by the curated vibes. From the thoughtful decor to The Office being projected on the wall. It felt hip, fresh and refined. We decided to craft our own drinks - Arnold Palmers, his favorite. But they only had sparkling lemonade, which actually made it even better. We shared a salad that had some cooked pears and squash alongside the greens, walnuts, cranberries and blue cheese. I do feel like the cooked sweet elements overpowered the salad with their sweetness and textures a bit. Wondering if a refreshing pear for crunch or more dressing could have brightened it up and provided a salty, sweet balance. I ordered the Short Ribs with a parsnip purée and roasted carrots and it did not disappoint. Everything paired beautifully together, perfectly salted and cooked. I finished the entire plate. It was the perfect spot to enjoy the fresh air and made for a really relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant has a great vibe overall, especially if you're looking for an outdoor brunch. (Have not been inside) I ordered the steak chilaquiles, and I'd give them a 8.5/10. The flavors were really good, the sauce was delicious, and I liked the addition of the eggs, avocado, and queso. My only complaint was the steak. I ordered it medium rare, but it came out medium well, a bit dry and was tougher than expected, making it difficult to cut. It was still tasty--just not cooked quite the way I was hoping. The mimosas were good too, a great value. Nothing that really stood out as amazing, but definitely nothing bad about them either--they got the job done. What really elevated the experience was the service. Our server Rebecca was attentive, knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly quick throughout the meal. They checked in at the right times, answered our questions confidently, and made us feel well taken care of without ever being overbearing. Overall, I'd come back, especially to sit on the patio again. With a more tender steak, this meal would've easily been an 8.5 or 9 out of 10!! :)

One star, and it's entirely about how the staff handled a serious situation, not the food…read more I was harassed by another patron at the bar -- told to "go back to my own country." That's blatant racism, and it happened while I was a paying customer. Staff did nothing to address it in the moment. Understandably upset and shaken, I had too much to drink afterward. My family came and drove me home safely. Rather than addressing what actually happened -- a customer being racially harassed on their premises -- management's response was to ban me, not the person who harassed me. If a business allows this kind of harassment to go unaddressed and then punishes the target of it for reacting, that's a real problem, not a minor service issue. This is the San Francisco Bay Area. We should expect better than this. Avoid this place if you don't want to find out how they'll treat you when something like this happens to you.
