I'm not sure why this place is short of 4 stars. It's 5 star tastes, service and outdoor ambiance. Watermelon margaritas and aqua fresca were a great summer treat. Sundays offer a buffet but menu options are still available. I enjoyed a carnitas burrito. Salsa, guacamole and chips were perfect too. Everyone working was friendly and attentive. Menu prices were incredibly reasonable. Live music serenaded tables on Father's Day was also a great treat. I guess I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures of the food. read more

Our first visit two weeks ago was great -- good food, good service -- so much so that we told our friends, family, and colleagues about it. As a local Gilroy resident, business owner, and someone in the service industry, I was eager to support them. We even found them on TikTok and were happy to promote our new "find." Yesterday was our second visit... and our last. We ordered 4 brunches (about $27 each) and chose to sit inside since it was less busy -- especially important for our autistic child. Drinks were ordered: 3 Chavelas and 1 Mimosa. One of the Chavelas accidentally tipped over right after arriving (their cups are ceramic, wider on top and narrow at the bottom -- easy to tip). We immediately asked for help. They cleaned it up and brought another drink. When the bill came, we noticed they charged us for the spilled drink -- even though it was untouched aside from tipping over. We politely mentioned this and asked if the manager could review. The server returned, with attitude, and said there was "nothing they could do" and the charge would remain. Here's the thing: I understand accidents happen -- I'm in the service industry myself -- but the way they handled this showed zero customer care. For the sake of $12, they lost not only our business, but also the business of all the people we've been recommending them to. Sometimes it's not about the money; it's about how you make your customers feel. A replacement drink, or even a kinder attitude, would have kept us as loyal patrons. Instead, they showed they value a single drink over long-term customers. For $12, they lost thousands in future business -- and my respect. read more

I visited yesterday morning and had an incredible meal. Came for the chilaquiles with carne asada (amazing suggestion by our waitress!), stayed for the café de olla so good I forgot to take a pic! Love that they serve breakfast all day. The ambiance is wonderful it has a very warm, cozy, and welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to stay and enjoy your meal. Came back today for my son's nachos and their agua fresca (pepino) is delicious and they were 10/10. However, I was sad to see a customer complaining to the waitress over something silly. If we ask for something extra or specific, we should understand that there is an additional cost this place is worth every penny. Great service! read more

The servers are super friendly and attentive; we were attended by Gloria who was the best! The patio was kept clean and they have two singers/performers who really kept the place lively. I'm always looking for more good local Mexican spots. So I was excited to try this one after all the rave reviews on Check Please. Sorry to say I was disappointed. The atmosphere is great, as advertised. And the service was friendly if not so efficient (apparently we caught them toward the end of a busy shift). Sadly, I was not too happy about their version of my beloved chavela. And the food was decent (meaning above average for the Bay), but not special. Interesting (to me anyway) that there is a Mexico Lindo right next door, which never seems to get any mention. Could it be that the direct competition is not quite competitive enough to rise above? Or maybe it was just an off night. But that shouldn't happen at weekend dinner service. Maybe we'll try again for brunch, which they're known for. Just thinking out loud here... read more

NBD We started with the guacamole, chips & salsa The water had the most flavor today. The guacamole was lukewarm and needed salt and lemon. The salsa was just plain bland. We both had burrito bowls. I found 1 piece of steak. A teaspoon of guacamole and a teaspoon of sour cream. The patio was nice on an early Fall afternoon. Service was generic and forgettable. I think I'd give this place another try as my experience might have been due to my door dasher dropping off 2 other orders before mine. When I got my food it was really cold. The enchilada suizas I got were pretty good though after I heated them up. The rice and beans were tasty. Really cute restaurant but I was actually pretty discouraged with the prices of the food. Prices of the menu were completely different than what was on the menu, which made no sense to me. Just look at the attached photos highlighted in blue. In terms of taste, I got the soft tacos for steak and barbacoa. The steak wasn't overcooked but at the same time, it didn't feel like it was steak. At the same time, barbacoa's soup was kind of watery. I didn't see the price of everything until later on and I was starving. Should've went somewhere else. It doesn't make sense if one menu promotes $3.95 for 2 soft tacos when in reality it's $7 for 2 on the receipt. The only thing that was pleasing was the salsa and the margarita I got. You get a small cup of it if you check in on Yelp. One of the things that do interest me is the buffet brunch though. Seems cool to come to but definitely check the prices next time. read more

I waited in the patio area, but it's too cold so I went inside and sat near the door and nobody ever talked to me except to ask me if a take out order was for me. But every single time, asking for extra green salsa turns into an unnecessary hassle. Even when I offer to pay extra, they act like I'm asking for something unreasonable. At this point, it's not just about the salsa--it's about consistency in service. If you're going to charge for it, just say so instead of making customers feel like an inconvenience. We sat outside on the patio and were served chips and salsa on the house. We ordered margaritas while we studied their fairly large menu. The margaritas were just basic Jose Cuervo margaritas. We ordered queso chorizo. This was the best item we ate all night. Crispy cheese on the bottom and greasy flavorful chorizo on the top. Perfectly melted, served with corn tortillas. Our waitress brought more salsa with the queso. Their house salsa is very good. For our entrees we order pork tamales, beef enchilada and a crispy ground beef taco (carne asada is not available) . The crispy taco shell was not homemade which was disappointing. The tamale and enchilada were good as expected, nothing notable. My wife liked her cheese enchilada and her chicken taco was just okay. Servers were kind and friendly. With so many great Mexican food restaurants and taquerias all around us, a Mexican food restaurant needs to stand out by making memorable food. One of the worst experience ever. I ordered 2 shrimp tacos and a glass of wine. Tacos were great but this was not a regular pour. I was a bartender for many years and this $9 glass of house white wine is down right insulting. I asked my waitress if they ran out, she said "no, this is their regular pour" I said that I wanted to get a refund for the wine because I refused to pay for a 1/4 glass of house wine. She went to get the manager Martha, but I received the same very unpleasant answer "that's how we do it here" Very rude, no customer service whatsoever. My 2nd time coming here. if they would get my order correct that would've been great but I ordered a chavela with modelo negra wife ordered michelada modelo especial. When the drinks arrived we were given opposite beers. Now when I got my food I was also given the wrong toppings and was taken back to fix my order. The final thing to me was how rushed i felt while they removed our plates and drinks. I'm not sure who the person was maybe a lead but she told them to clean table 15 clearly we are still sitting eating. Fork in hand one of the waiters ask if we are done with our plate. While the adults were finishing their drinks the waiters began to remove our kids drinks in less than 5 mins of the plates being removed the place was pretty empty to be making people feel this rush to leave. It was the perfect spot for dinner on a warm Saturday night. The patio is large and comfortable, with nice lighting, and currently decorated for Halloween. The service was warm and friendly from everyone, and Charlotte made us feel especially welcome. We enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa, and my horchata was so good I sucked it down before my dinner came out. The lengua platter was flavorful and tender. The beef flautas were filled with tender, delicious shredded beef. Overall, we loved the vibe, the food, and the hospitality. We'll be back! read more

Congratulations for making it onto the KQED TV show Check-Please last week The five stars is for the outdoor eating area, which might have been converted from an old parking lot. The space is buffered by a zone of vegetation all around, plus a masonry wall. From the top, a massive evergreen tree provides shelter from the hot summer sun, along with additional comfort provided by various umbrellas and wooden shelters. Compared with the outdoor spaces at Santana Row, one can relax and be themselves at Cazuelas, where the Santana Row people have to be more artificially-upscale. The outdoor space is also better than at Luna Mexican Kitchen up the street, where you feel like you are packed into a giant tent. It is also better than the outdoor space at San Pedro Square, if you do not want to be lost in a sea of 30 year olds drinking and talking over loud music. read more

Came on a Saturday night around 630. You can either order at the counter for to go or they will seat you then take your order. Was able to get seated immediately. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side but they have a ton of outdoor seating. Seems like a very nice place to eat outside in the summer/spring. Services was quick to take the order/deliver the food. But doesn't come back often to check on/refill, not a big deal since the food is pretty good especially for the price point. The food is priced reasonably, but on the smaller portion size compared to other Mexican places. All the food was done quite well. Had the Margarita (3.55): free if you check in. Unfortunately they didn't remember to give the discount when they brought the check. Ended up paying another $10 for the drink. A bit on the sour side/ a little weak. Chips & Salsa (4/5): Chips I believe are complementary. They are done well and goes great with the salsa, ended up getting two basics 2 chicken enchiladas (verde) (3.5/5): Had a good amount of chicken and the Verde sauce was legit. A bit heavy handed on the sour cream, but didn't really take a way from the meal for me. Solid enchiladas Chilaquiles (3.5/5): Tasty and done well. Eggs were nice and runny and had a really nice coating of red sauce. Wish they had put a bit more sauce so it was a bit more wet, but still over all a good dish. The rice and beans were definitely worth the carbs haha Tacos (Lengua & Al Pastor) (4/5): Both tacos had a good portion of meat and tasty. Lengua was tender and Al Pastor packed a punch of flavor. Normally I like tongue than pastor, but could have been crisped up a bit to give some texture. Pastor had a nice pineapple taste and definitely my favorite of the all the food. Overall great experience. Would defiantly recommend and will be back. Need to check out Sunday when they have the buffet from 10-2 read more

Myself and co workers had a early business lunch here today, been going here for years and always enjoyed food and Brunch. We had a great waiter.Today something was off with the food/chicken we explained this to staff. They brought me some chicken in bowl to taste?? Why? I explained this to female women in charge she told me no one has complained (just opened)I also explained we have been going here for years our entire family/friends have. So She said we had to pay for at least one plate, mind you we both left our complete dishes untouched. She also made us feel uncomfortable for bring this up.Though we were been helpful to notify them before an issue ocured. One dish was credited.Customer service from her could've been handled better. Saw this place on IG and decided to have brunch with my family here. Wait wasn't too long, but the food was not worth the wait. We opted for the brunch buffet and it was pretty disgusting. So greasy, no flavor and not enjoyable at all. The only good thing about this place was the pepino water. Other than that I do not recommend. Really happy to have discovered Las Cazuelas in the Rose Garden of San Jose - truly a hidden gem! I arrived at 2pm on a Sunday and the brunch crowd was winding down. They offer a brunch all you can eat on Sunday for $25 per person. The menu is extensive and since this was my first time, I decided to order two super tacos ($5 each): chicken and chile verde, both were delicious but loved the chile verde especially because the meat was so flavorful and tender. They serve handmade tortillas here! The tacos were grilled on the outside and the toppings were so fresh - check out those full sized jalapeños! Definitely spicy so try at your own risk :D read more
