    Al Pastor Burritos

We went to the brick and mortar in Homestead. It looks small from the outside, but there are actually multiple booths inside. Our waitress was very nice. They gave us chips and pico, but it was hard to scoop. I wish they would make a fresh salsa instead. We also had a carne asada tostada, barbacoa quesadilla, al pastor burrito, birria tacos, and a chorizo taco. Our favorite things were the tostada and the tacos. I would skip the burrito, it's big, but it's just okay. The flavor of rice takes over. The best meat was by far the chorizo. The taco came with onion and cilantro, it was really good. The birria tacos were decent, but I've had better in the past.

    Quesabirria. Our favorite!!!!

A local told us "any mom and pop Mexican restaurant in Homestead will be amazing." Yelp said differently. So we picked the one with the best reviews and ended up at Las Chavelas. The former food truck has a real restaurant now. We sat and soon ordered our meals. The restaurant is small and humble, but the food is absolutely spectacular. Everything was a smash, even just the chips and salsa. The tacos were simple but each meat was delicious. I had the Al pastor burrito and wow- the flavors were amazing, the tortilla was grilled perfectly, and the pork was just incredible. Somehow the best dish was the carnitas tortilla. Just three perfect ingredients- beef, cheese, and tortilla- each cooked perfectly. By the time we left the restaurant had filled up! Clearly the secret is out- Las Chavelas is amazing!

I was finally able to visit my favorite taco truck in Homestead once again & not a thing has changed except their location (which is now in a more convenient area off Krome Ave). Phenomenal food/experience once again! When I got there I was greeted right away by the employees as they were out tiding up the dining area they have set up in front. They immediately stopped what they were doing & tended to us, as one went inside the truck & the other 2 stayed to take the order. They were very friendly, smiled & even came by to check on how we were doing after we got our food (which usually never happens while dining at food trucks). As far as their tacos go, they're pretty much perfection. They're topped with the usual cilantro/onions that all authentic street tacos have & their corn tortillas are soft & come stuffed with the meat of your choosing. I especially love the Al Pastor ones. They have with a generous amount of pineapple chunks which really gives it a perfect balance of sweet/salty & the pork itself is marinated amazingly. They also have tostadas that are out of this world; you MUST order one if you get the chance to visit. They're piled high with meat & the lettuce/tomatoes/cotija cheese/sour cream all come together to make a dish that has you drooling over days later! I can't recommend ordering a tostada from here enough. I wasn't aware of it but they also offer a free taco if you check-in while you're there! It may (or may not) be far from you but I know you won't regret giving Las Chavelas a visit.

I found this place on Yelp, of course. I really didn't know what to expect, but I'm sure glad I listened to the reviews. The property the restaurant sits on has a few different options to choose from. All the restaurants here are basically food trucks, with the exception of the ice cream stand, which sells pre packaged ice cream, nothing really special about it. I did feel bad for the lady working there so I bought an ice cream and didn't eat it. Anyway back to my review. This particular food truck had the most patrons and the longest line, so I knew it was going to be good. The two young teens taking the orders are really nice and a bit shy when asked what their best dishes are. I ended up ordering tacos, a tostada and a quesadilla. The food was amazing. I'm not Mexican, so I can't attest to the authenticity of this food, however, based on taste alone, it was off the charts. I highly recommend you visit. Elite tip: Try their salsa verde, it's not very spicy and has a phenomenal taste.

Once again my fellow Yelpers have led me to an amazing food find. This food truck is turning out delicious tacos, burritos, quesadillas and some of the best tostadas i have ever eaten. We were there at 2 o'clock on a Friday and this place was busy but the wait wasn't too long. They have long picnic tables set up and believe it or not there are roosters roaming around while you eat! Thankfully I didn't order anything made with chicken so I had no guilt eating while these guys were literally coming right up to our table. I had the carne asada and carnitas tacos and my son had the carne asada, al pastor and chicken tacos. We also split a carne asada tostada. Although i really enjoyed the tacos, that tostada was simply amazing. It was loaded with meat and topped with lettuce, tomatoes, crema and cojito cheese. Please do not miss getting these if you come here! I will definitely return here when I'm in the area and I highly suggest you check them out if you're nearby.

Hidden spot on Krome with other food trucks. Saw all the reviews and got really excited because I love Mexican food. Went on a Friday night. There was no one there, except for another family waiting there to pick up some takeout. Checked in with Yelp to get a free taco, but the girl taking my order told me the owner is no longer doing that. Maybe the owner should take it off Yelp. I ordered the vegetarian burrito and tostada. It was no big deal. A little too bland for me. Had to add salt and salsa verde to make it better. I know you are probably thinking why would anyone order vegetarian at a Mexican food truck? Well when someone advertises it, they usually put some exciting factor into it to make it exciting, but this was just a regular item with no meat and no extra vegetables added. My hubby had carne asada tacos and Al pastor quesadilla. He said they were ok, nothing out of this world. The Al pastor was a little greasy but he said you can taste the pineapple which is good. One thing that is great is that the prices are not bad at all, but the items are a little smaller. Might come back to give them a second chance and will definitely have to try a meat product.

Taro with sign and seating area. This place is a gem

This taco truck is in the best location! The Redlands Ranch. Word of advice, never arrive hungry unless you're going next door to buy a shake or snack while you wait. They take on average 20-30 min to serve up, but if you're not starving, it's a great opportunity to explore the grounds. Theirs hammocks and swing are a great distraction. The truck has a large awning and with different table options: picnic bench, square table, or round table with umbrella. There are hand sanitizers on every table and everything is very clean. They take cash or credit card. The food is authentic, and their guac has a nice kick to it! Our go to are the burritos and tostadas, but the menudo is amazing. Their tacos are good but small... I need like 4 to be full . Last time I checked they are only open on the weekends, and are around the corner from monkey jungle and Pinto Farm

Very good and authentic tacos by far! It was a little difficult finding this food truck, but they were great quality. I do wish they had some thing like chips and guacamole or queso, but everything was amazing!

The place was busy, with a steady flow of people coming and going, which is usually a good sign. Once inside, we were greeted right away and the service was incredibly friendly and fast throughout our visit. The atmosphere had the familiar feel of a traditional Mexican restaurant, but with a genuine family owned, mom & pop charm that made it feel welcoming and authentic. I ordered the Mexican steak with jalapeños, while my fiancée went with the flautas. Both dishes were excellent and fresh, flavorful, and well seasoned without being overdone. The steak was cooked just right and had plenty of flavor. My fiancée especially loved the yellow rice and kept talking about it long after we left. Overall, this was one of those unexpected finds that turns into a place you'll want to come back to. Great food, friendly people, and a welcoming atmosphere. It would be worth the hour drive back here from fort lauderdale. We'll definitely be returning.

I'm not going to lie the food has always been good, which is why we kept coming back despite the drive. The waitresses know us by now. It's always me, my mom, and my husband, and if one of the three of us is missing they actually ask where the other person is. That's how regular we are. Because it's a long drive for us, we usually bring a small lunch box with water bottles and Coke Zero for the trip. Today, under the guise of offering us ice for our lunch box, our waitress opened our lunch box, looked through it, and then shook her head at someone else like she was signaling "no, not here." We were honestly stunned. We paid and as we were leaving I told her, "If you wanted to check my lunch box for alcohol, you could have just asked." She immediately started saying "No, no, I was just curious because I want to start driving around with one too," and I told her flat out, "No you weren't." If I wanted to get drunk, I certainly wouldn't pick this place to do it. I have honestly never felt so disrespected. TSA doesn't even go through my bags like that. The rose-colored glasses are officially off. Again, the food is good, but I'm also not blind to the fact that this is a hot trailer on the side of Krome where you're constantly fighting flies around your food while you eat. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants where I can order a Coke Zero in air conditioning, or I can find another food truck, they're a dime a dozen.
