The food tasted authentic, came out hot, and was full of flavor. The open salsa bar was a great touch and let us try several different salsas with our meal. Two of us ate for about $36, which was an excellent value for the quality and portion sizes. The only thing to be aware of is that soft drinks don't come with free refills, but that was a small tradeoff for such a great meal. The waitress told us to sit wherever we wanted to. She brought us a basket of chips and salsa. I ordered the Trio Trepa. I wanted it with shrimp, but the waitress said they can't do shrimp for it. So I did it with chicken instead. My daughter ordered the chicken tenders and French fries. My plate was huge! It turned into three or four meals! My daughter ate all of her chicken tenders except some of the breading. They were a little overly breaded. I like the condiment bar. But only one person can serve themselves at a time there and there was a guy up there when I got my food and I wanted to go up and add some toppings to my plate. I had the flautas de res, and my husband had the enchiladas de pollo. Both were very good! I think I liked the enchiladas best. And the refried beans were my favorite part of the meal. The one complaint is that the service got pretty slow once the business of the restaurant picked up. Been coming here for many years, it's not what it used to be. Burritos were very greasy and soggy. Had a hair in one of by burritos, which I know it happens, but don't tell me there's nobody with long hair in the kitchen prepping food, making it seem like I put it there. I think what makes Taqueria Morelia stand out is the extensive condiment/sauce/ topping bar they have. They serve you the tacos bare just a good tortilla and some wonderfully seasoned meat. Then it's up to you to top it to your liking. I ordered Tripa, Carnitas, Al pastor and Carne asada. And I enjoyed them in that same order. The tripa was my favorite. Don't be put off by the next to the Valero gas station physique- this is a genuine Mexican restaurant with nice choices and big portions. It has a small inside dining area with lots of extra onions and hot spicy condiments at a little bar. Pretty yummy with a small portion of chips and pica de gallo for dipping. I've been here a few times and I can say it's authentic and it has been packed on the weekends when I have visited. It's located in a strip mall and I've heard from different people it's one of the better locations for real Mexican food in the area. The waiters were relatively absent during our meal here. I got a corn quesadilla with only veggies. There were not any menu items that were vegetarian so it took some work to figure out what I should order. I had a question on the allergen information on the food, but the waiter left us for so long that I had to go up to the front counter to ask. I am not certain if I have ever posted a review on this restaurant before. If I haven't, it's my bad cause this is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at in my life. This is not the restaurant that you go to for ambience or a date, it's just a restaurant that you drive an hour for just to eat their amazing food. Seriously, their food is worth an hour drive each way. It's especially true because there is pretty much no good mexican restaurant in Miami. I know that this is a controversial thing to say. No, I have not been to every Mexican restaurant on Miami to make that claim but I have been to enough, and still, none compete to the quality of this food. Firstly, they serve all of the typical Mexican fare on their menu. But somehow, even a teaspoon of their homemade salsa is better than any other salsa that I've ever eaten. The chips divine. I ordered the queso & chips as an app and it was fantastic. Totally worth the 3000 calories. And lastly, my favorite item on the menu here, their tostadas. I opted for chicken but you can choose your protein. It's the perfect combination of slow cooked shredded chicken on top of a thin, crispy tortilla with beans, lettuce and a dusting of Oaxaca cheese. I basically had a foodgasm at every bite. They really don't skimp on the quality of their ingredients. My mother had a burrito and she liked it a lot too. I had the other half of the burrito leftover the next day and it was excellent. Very filling, tasty and still delicious the next day. I don't know if anyone will ever blindly drive an hour to this restaurant based on my review but at least if you're ever in Homestead, FL or in the vicinity, take the extra time to stop by this restaurant. The sauce station varies from guac, cilantro, onion, mild sauce, spicy sauce, lime, etc. Now the BEST part is 3 Quesabarria Tacos w/ Chicken + Consomme; the chicken is easy to chew, and pull apart yet I suggest you dip it into the Consomme. Consomme is a Mexican soup dish that's for special occasions, and known to be dipped with tacos. It is dark, savory, mixed with cilantro/onion/peppers, and does get messy so make sure you have lots of napkins. Lastly; Quesadilla is BETTER than any Mexican restaurant I been to. It was on the smaller size, yet great with chicken. (IMPORTANT) Menu included in photos. The Alambres are delicious. The pork one is slightly better than the steak. Though for the steak some of the meat was a bit tough and chewy. The enchiladas verde is good. Burritos are okay. They are kind of one texture. There isn't enough veggies or cheese to change the texture. The queso fundito is terrible and the guacamole has way too many onions. I went to Homestead to visit a friend who sprained his ankle. I figured I could keep him some company as I know what it's like to not be able to move around. Anyway, because it's Homestead and we were hungry for dinner, we opted for Mexican food. My dear Anthony G. kept hearing this place was good, and as a confirmed person of Mexican descent, I can say it was indeed. We ordered a bunch of dishes. You name it and we had it. Queso fundido, carne asada tacos, carnitas tacos, chicken fajitas, and some sauces that we ultimately didn't end up partaking in. Honestly everything was delicious. Admittedly my favorite was the queso fundido, which was more like cheese in a taco. Seriously. I don't know if they messed up or what for take out, but I didn't care. I loved it. The chicken fajitas consisted of a generous portion. It made enough for two meals for me. I do have to say though, the tacos while tasty, are a little bit small. Good thing we ordered lots. Not sure how dining in is, but take out is terrific. So much so that we inhaled and we have no photos. Oh well. I suppose that's a good sign? It honestly means that we truly did enjoy our food. Their prices have gotten astronomical. It's out of hand. And also I ordered tacos based on THIS photo. So imagine my surprise when I get home and open my taco box and see 3 tacos with just meat. I paid 10 bucks for 3 tacos without a single topping on them. Then the lady has the audacity to tell me "I asked if you wanted containers for salsas".... yes. Because NORMALLY at taco spots, you have all your toppings on it and then have containers on the side for salsas etc. no one ever just gives you completely naked tacos unless they SPECIFY "the toppings are over so you can dress the tacos to your liking." Who the heck in their right mind would automatically assume their taco is just going to be meat and a tortilla??? Very misleading and not at ALL getting the value of what you ordered when you have to do half of their job yourself. If you want real Mexican tacos, this is the place to go get them. While Morelia is far from fancy, the products they offer are authentic as they come. I've been here a few times and always ordered tacos: al pastor is always great with the sliced pineapple on top, and the barbacoa taco never disappoints. The las time I went with my family, my sister ordered another dish and a side of rice and beans. The rice had a yellow color to it, but lacked any saffron taste. The refried beans were ok. The tacos always come only with the meat you order, and there's a little table with all the toppings you can think of--different salsas, cilantro, onion, lime,etc. I like this because you get to tailor the taco to your taste, but it does seem a bit risky to have it open now while dealing with the leftovers of the pandemic. From the first bite and you taste the flavor of the taco shell along with the other ingredients you know it's the real deal. This last time that I went I tried the Alambre. It's looks like a Mexican meat lovers pizza without the crust. Full of flavor with the steak and the Mexican chorizo, queso blanco, and other ingredients and every time I filled some food in a corn tortilla it made for some additional boost in flavor with some hot sauce as an add on.
