Very good pupusas! Freshly made tortillas which are really tasty as well! Their menu has a variety of choices to pick from. My favorite pupusas are revueltas which have cheese, beans, and pork. Nice clean restaurant with lots of parking in the back. Would recommend! read more

My husband and I split the #2 and 8, so amazing! My life will never be the same since papusas. The rice and beans are delish and the fried corn tamales were good. Everything exceeded my expectations. We are vegetarians and the Tamal de elote, pupusas, frijoles y plátanos seré excelente. Service was warm and hospitable, the wait was not too long but the food was freshly prepared and as many others said before me, the bebida ensalada was delicious. Clean, friendly atmosphere. This nice little Salvadorean restaurant offers a break from the monotony of Mexican restaurants with identical menus that proliferate around the Santa Maria area. The pupusas are wonderful, as well as their breakfast plates. It's a good stop to make if you are going to the mall. read more

This was the first time my son & I had Salvadorian food & it was WONDERFUL!! Staff was very friendly & it is a cute & clean place. The pupusas were divine & the rice was so delicious!! I was so delighted to find we had a Salvadoran restaurant in Santa Maria. Love, love, love the pupusas & curtido. Most of the clientele speaks Spanish - so that's a good sign. The ladies who work there are very patient with my poor attempts at Spanish and always welcoming to my guests. It's one of my favorite places to take people for lunch as long as they're not going for the luxury accommodations. It has a rather sparse interior. I personally recommend this restaurant, Why? You ask... Well because my great uncle was a genius crafting salvadorian/hondureno meals. Eating at Las Comadres will bring you make so many memories from tu tierra. It will take you back guaranteeing you to leave with a full stomach. Everything on the menu makes you growl including the freshly made horchata that grandma makes in the make with her secret ingredient. As a granddaughter I've seen the food become a success having everyone in Santa Maria come in on Sundays with their families. The foods crazy amazing and I recommend you come to my great uncles' restaurant Las Comadres.  Las Comadres Restaurant is famous for our deliciouso pupusas. Taking a bite and having a burst of flavor will satisfy your everyday needs and your taste buds. Pupusas made of melting cheese, chicharron and beans all combined complementing each other. A main dish of pupusas, beans and rice including its salad and that bright red salsa leaving you with the sweats. It'll be leaving your fingers with all that grease and having that sense of licking your fingers. Its finger licking goodness. Las Comadres will leave you in ahh soothing you away to paradise and the homeland. You will end up loving the food and coming back for more and more.  Our staff here is wonderful. I love this place. It is one of the best restaurants in Santa Maria. Everything on the menu is great and the prices are reasonable as well. If you have never had Salvadorian food you need to try this place. I recommend the pulpusas, yucca root and fried plantains to start. This place was great! I love popusas and this place was perfect. I got the number 2 popusa combo with rice and beans and a salvadorian horchata. The popusas were perfectly made and flavorfull, the rice was differently made from mexican rice but it was awsome. Im definatley coming back here from now on. The service was great. We got our food in a timely manner and were checked on constantly. All in all a great family resteraunt. read more

There isn't a strong Salvadoran presence in Santa Maria, but Las Comadres is representing in force. Their pan con pollo is excellent. Their pupusas are good and their curtido and salsa are a 5 out of 5. They are also very accommodating of large orders if you call ahead. read more

I love this restaurant. They have a huge selection of authentic Salvadorean food and have amazing service. My favorite pupusas here are the refried beans and cheese, cheese and loroco, and cheese and zucchini. Their plantains are delicious and cooked to perfection. They also offer different Salvadorean desserts such as empanadas or nuegados that you can't get at other Salvadorean restaurants. This was my first time going to las comadres restaurant and I went with my cousin and her boyfriend who is from el Salvador. Once we got there he started ordering and one of the girls started to flirt with him. She was so desperate she even brought us our food and kept giving him all the wrong signals, my cousins boyfriend was not into it because she was old. ETH: The best in Salvadorian food in the central coast, and probity the only restaurant that sell Salvadorian food in the central coast. they have the best papusas, and fried bananas in Santa Maria with the best prices. their papusas were almost as good as the ones my grandma made me when I went to el Salvador, if she were to go to Las Comadres she would approve on how great their papusas are. you can take your whole family here for dinner, they have some thing for the whole family. they have great staff that are supper Friendly. they is a lot of room and great Entertainment if you like to watch novellas or some classic soccer. their restaurant is nice and clean and eye pleasing with awesome Salvadorian toys and memorabilia. 1000% recommend it you wont regret it only if your on a diet or trying to lose weight. I downloaded the Yelp app for one reason and this post will explain why I did.. The first time I took my family here, we loved it. The food was perfect, and the service was prompt and friendly. And our next two visits were just as good. At about 2 months after our third visit, we went into the restaurant with high expectations. We walked through the front door and waited to be seated, and as the staff served food to their customers, we waited some more. After about 10 awkward minutes, my fiance got tired of being ignored and went to one of the three open tables and sat down. It went down hill from there. It took another 15 minutes to get our menus and to make a long story short, our average tasting food took 1.5 hours to get to our table. I was very disappointed to say the least and when we received our bill, I was somewhat disturbed........ They decided to charge me almost $20 for their two extra bowls of FREE chips and salsa which the waitress gave us apparently out of sympathy because she apologized about half a dozen times as she continued serving everyone else but us. I didn't notice it because I was soo busy trying to keep my Son from crying, but there were several other customers that came in long after us and had left before we we were finally served. It's hard not to feel disrespected, especially when my fiancé explained that those other customers received the same menu items we ordered long before their arrival. We left the place feeling like we were belittled and disrespected and we swore to never go back....... But we were stupid enough to do just that. We went again today and it was even worse. Due to time constraints, I will post our second worst restaurant experience a little later, I have to attend to my fiancé who appears to have symptoms of food poisoning............... read more

First off, this restaurant is a hole in the wall in a funky, run down part of Santa Maria. I wouldn't say that it's a place for a business lunch. Or a romantic dinner. It has that taqueria feel. I kinda rate a restaurant on how many patrons are in there when you walk in at lunchtime. There were precisely 3, including myself. So no big crowds and no long waits to be served. I guess that's good. I'd never had Salvadorian food before, but a lot of Mexican, and this fare certainly wasn't Mex so the restaurant shouldn't be rated as a Mex restaurant. Totally different food. Should be rated as a Central American restaurant. I had the #14: two papusas, a small tamale, yellow rice, purred beans, chunks of fried potatoes, cabbage (?) and sauce for something. Everything was different from Mex food, so it's hard for me to rate it. There's nothing to compare it to. I'll try it somemore and update this review. The menu is hard to read as the pictures are really small and there are a lot of them crammed on a little card. My #14, with a Salvadorian version of Horchata (dark brown) and tip came to $20. A little pricey for a Mex lunch. They usually run around $15. read more
