I have looked at this place for years and I driven past it forever going to other restaurants and places but I have never stopped by so today I stopped for lunch. I was seated promptly and given a menu and chips with salsa so I ordered a raspberry margarita while I looked at the menu. The chips were seasoned nicely but not warm and the salsa was very chunky and hot just so you know and I like hot so all was well. The raspberry margarita was not very good because it didn't have a big raspberry flavor like I expected, it's not the equivalent of a strawberry margarita let's say. The place was empty on a Saturday afternoon at lunch except for one table and even with C19 it is still is pretty empty compared to other places so I'm worried. The place is not super authentic looking on the inside with picnic table table coverings but it has a small bar with booths and table. The menu is pretty in line with with other Mexican restaurants but I wish it had more combination offerings instead of only one. The menu says no substitutions on the combination plate with a cheese enchilada, ground beef taco and chicken tostada and the chicken tostada was a deal breaker so I asked my server if I could substitute al pastor and he allowed it so that was cool so I ordered the combination plate With rice and beans. My food came fast and it looked good with a ground beef taco, cheese enchilada, al pastor tostada, beans and rice. As I tasted everything I noticed that nothing is seasoned very well and it was cooked for the masses as to appeal to most people. I also noticed that nothing had any great depth/authentic flavor like the really good Mexican restaurants have, there's a reason why you go to the 13th and lincoln greater area for Mexican food. Ok my final thoughts on my visit is that the food is not spectacular but it's not horrible by any means but there is better options around town that are more authentic tasting. read more

A very unassuming place that we've driven by oh so many times. Stopped in for the first time today based on the fanfare of a friend. So glad we did. Margaritas were fabulous. Chips and salsa- as expected. I'd love a little more seasoning on the chips but they were warm and the salsa's were good. The smooth sauce is mild and smokey while the chunky offers a bit more heat. Totally on point. Since it was our first time- we ordered ala carte so we could try different things. The steak tacos were amazing. It seems simple but so many places just can't get it right. These guys do. The chicken enchilada tasted better than either of us thought it was going to be and the chicken chimichanga was exactly as it should be. The rice and beans - yum. We both wish that we could have eaten more and can't wait to go back. I heard from another friend after the fact that both the nachos and the queso fundido are musts. You don't have to tell me twice. We'll be back for both of those and the Fajitas! read more

If you do not like seasoned food, or adult portions, go here. Very expensive for the small portions. Small basket of cold chips. Tiny salsa, almost laughable. Free chips and salsa, really like the mild chunky salsa, the blended hot salsa had little too much heat for my mild mouth, it was smokin'. Had the chimichanga lunch special, two chimis, rice and beans for $9.99. It was great, nothing fancy...rice and beans were very good, the chimis were long and skinny with chicken and cheese inside, not much else. The worst restaurant I have ever been to. We walked in and nobody said hi or told us we could grab a seat when there was only one other table eating. Once we sat down we ordered margs and there was absolutely no tequila in them so we asked for 2 shots of the tequila they use in the margs to add (each shot cost more than the actual margarita). We both ordered fajitas and they came out with THREE slices of meat and the rest was just pepper and an entire onion. I didn't finish my food or drink... and that says a lot for me. What a great place! Can't believe it is only 3.5 starts. Complimentary chips , salsa AND QUESO! The queso actually was just ok but the fact that it is complimentary shows they are going the extra mile. We got the chicken fajitas and the molcajete. Both were really good. The molcajete was amazing. It was rated and very spicy but we didn't think it was spicy. My wife was the one who ordered it so maybe the purposefully made it less spicy for her? Been going for MANY years, always liked the cheeses enchiladas. Yesterday I was served a horrible Strawberry Margarita the taste was bad, the salsa was slightly frozen, the rice stuck together,, and worst of all, MY TOMATOE & my guest tomatoes ON GREEN SALAD WERE ROTTEN AND SMELLED, I accidentally ate a piece then smelled it...uuugghh....when I told owner/server he was very nonchalant, never apologized and simply said "yes". No no no, I was shocked at all of the good reviews here. I went with my parents and husband. The chips and salsa, good, but that's hard to mess up. My parents got steak fajitas and I ordered steak and beef chimichangas, and all I can say is disgusting! This place is so close to my house, and I really want to like this place. It would save me from driving to the fifth ward for good Mexican food. But after three tries, I simply cannot enjoy the food. I have mixed feelings about this place. It's nice and convenient because it's close to where I live. However the food is not that great. I have a chimi changas which tooth did find they were well done just cheese and meat. My wife had the chicken mole. both of our plates had rice and beans that were lukewarm and not very tasty. My wife did not eat the chicken mole a and sent it back because it was so bad. She said it tasted like an ashtray. It's a shame cause I'd really like to like this place because it's so close but I don't think I will be back. I've always had good food here, and I kind of like the fact that they really aren't ever busy. It's nice to be able to go to a Mexican restaurant on a Friday night and not have to wait an hour to get in. I guess you would think that would be a bad sign, but I've never had any problems with their food or service. Their wait staff is very friendly and attentive. My husband orders the skirt steak every time and loves it. I took a star off just for prices. Seem to be a little on the high end for a small mom and pop type place, but other than that, I really like Las Fajitas. read more

Las Fajitas is a decent mexican restaurant in what semed to be an old shoneys or country kitchen building. The enchiladas were very good!!. Service was excellent for a saturday night but they were not that busy with less than half their tables occupied. We will definately go again as they have a separate seafood menu that had some very interesting choices we would like to try. read more

I feel bad about my trend of bad reviews but I'll blame it in part for randomly picking Entertainment Book coupons without researching enough. We went here this past Friday. Our server was very friendly and pleasant. The establishment was clean. The salsa was seasoned well but very watery with no chunkiness. We ordered the combination fajitas at $15 each and the jalapeno poppers. The poppers tasted like Arby's less the sauce and the fajitas were mainly vegetables with hardly any meat. We enjoy the heck out of this place. As mentioned in another review the Mexican coffee is great. We've gone there just to have them fill a travel mug to go for us before a driving trip. The food is great with lots of choices. The staff is attentive and it seems to be a family run place. They've had the same staff for the past 4 years we've been going. It never does seem to be very busy. I suspect it is more out of location than problems with food or staff. read more

This is very close to my home and my husband and I like to go in on Friday evenings because they never seem to be busy ( there is always people there) but never too busy and easy to get in and out. The food is really good and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. Some of the dishes have very small portions and that is why I did not give it a star due to that... but the magority of dishes have more then enough to fill you up and I have never had a dish I did not like. The staff is friendly and it's clean and nicely decorated. I wish they would play music everytime we have gone in they just have a tv on. Music would be nice and larger portions for some dishes but other then that it's awesome a diamond in the rough! I am seriously suprised more people don't come here excellent food and great prices! We stopped here for dinner because we had a craving for Mexican. The sign said authentic Mexican so we thought we were safe. The only thing authentic about this place is the one waiter in the whole restaurant. The chips were hot however the mild salsa was more like a sauce. I ordered chicken enchiladas. The whole dish was very under seasoned and bland. The re-fried beans were watery. The rice was decent. My spouse ordered a burrito and ended up getting sick a few hours later. I honestly would of rather went to taco bell. The one good thing about spending $35 for a dinner is knowing we will never have to waste money here again. read more
