I have looked at this place for years and I driven past it forever going to other restaurants and places but I have never stopped by so today I stopped for lunch. I was seated promptly and given a menu and chips with salsa so I ordered a raspberry margarita while I looked at the menu. The chips were seasoned nicely but not warm and the salsa was very chunky and hot just so you know and I like hot so all was well. The raspberry margarita was not very good because it didn't have a big raspberry flavor like I expected, it's not the equivalent of a strawberry margarita let's say. The place was empty on a Saturday afternoon at lunch except for one table and even with C19 it is still is pretty empty compared to other places so I'm worried. The place is not super authentic looking on the inside with picnic table table coverings but it has a small bar with booths and table. The menu is pretty in line with with other Mexican restaurants but I wish it had more combination offerings instead of only one. The menu says no substitutions on the combination plate with a cheese enchilada, ground beef taco and chicken tostada and the chicken tostada was a deal breaker so I asked my server if I could substitute al pastor and he allowed it so that was cool so I ordered the combination plate With rice and beans. My food came fast and it looked good with a ground beef taco, cheese enchilada, al pastor tostada, beans and rice. As I tasted everything I noticed that nothing is seasoned very well and it was cooked for the masses as to appeal to most people. I also noticed that nothing had any great depth/authentic flavor like the really good Mexican restaurants have, there's a reason why you go to the 13th and lincoln greater area for Mexican food. Ok my final thoughts on my visit is that the food is not spectacular but it's not horrible by any means but there is better options around town that are more authentic tasting.

The ceviche is THE BEST EVER. The food is good and great service. Not crazy packed in there with a nice ambiance !

Chips and salsa (smooth is mild & smokey; the chunky is the house version w/a little heat)

A very unassuming place that we've driven by oh so many times. Stopped in for the first time today based on the fanfare of a friend. So glad we did. Margaritas were fabulous. Chips and salsa- as expected. I'd love a little more seasoning on the chips but they were warm and the salsa's were good. The smooth sauce is mild and smokey while the chunky offers a bit more heat. Totally on point. Since it was our first time- we ordered ala carte so we could try different things. The steak tacos were amazing. It seems simple but so many places just can't get it right. These guys do. The chicken enchilada tasted better than either of us thought it was going to be and the chicken chimichanga was exactly as it should be. The rice and beans - yum. We both wish that we could have eaten more and can't wait to go back. I heard from another friend after the fact that both the nachos and the queso fundido are musts. You don't have to tell me twice. We'll be back for both of those and the Fajitas!

Awesome waiter! Excellent Excellent guacamole, the best I've ever had! So fresh! The salsa was super hot and fresh which I loved! My husbands burrito was huge and the nachos was way more than I could finish! They have great vegan options! Will be back for more guacamole!

Tortillas were crispy and fried to perfection. The consommé was delicious, had me drinking it straight out the cup and was well seasoned, hot, and was in its own something to right about. The red and green salsas were also good. Red having a bit of kick, green was flavorful. I will say that I wish one of them had more heat to it but the acidity and flavors were great. The beef itself was so flavorful and tender, well seasoned, not to mention had the perfect amount in each item. Also, Onions and peppers on the side were cooked great and had me going back for more each time. Also, get the horchata, it was spectacular. This place is small but decorated to really feel like the owners, workers, really care and take pride in the establishment. It had a great ambiance that was full of people on a rainy lunch hour, and I can see why. As a person who works in the industry as a cook, the kitchen, which you can see when you order is neat, clean, and truly has the right feel of 'they know what they're doing and they're doing it well'. 5 stars, will be talking about this meal for a long time and spreading the recommendation to as many people as I can.

Our three tacos for…read morethe taco truck dinner ($14) were chicken, chorizo and carnitas with the chorizo standing out amongst the three with better seasoning. The guacamole had a strong citrus flavor which I am a fan of and the salsa was complimentary! I would HIGHLY recommend the best burrito ($15) as they did not skimp on any ingredient, especially the flavorful pork pibil. My only qualm was that the rice was undercooked and slightly crunchy, but otherwise an affordable and tasty restaurant for a date night. The staff were friendly, service was fast (less than 10min to receive food after ordering) and the restaurant had bright and colorful furniture and decor which were true to theme.

I loved the variety of the menu, especially the vegetarian options, which are hard to come by in a lot of Mexican restaurants. In the past few years since I've moved back to Milwaukee, I've eaten at this location several times. It's about 6 blocks from my house and I still find veggie Mexican options to be rarer than I'd like. Generally the food is good, if no longer great. I wonder if their expansion and success has spread them thin over the years. Sometimes the service is good, sometimes it's like an afterthought. I've also ordered delivery from them many times and it's been generally fine, but not often great. Tonight I ordered delivery, paid extra for expedited service, and I really just wanted some good cheese and onion enchiladas. The delivery time was quick. Despite that, my food was cold. My black beans - literally cold. The cheese enchiladas - um, the cheese on top wasn't even melted. The rice had no flavor at all, like it could have literally been plain white, tepid rice. So I don't know what is going on at Cafe Corazon, but it's just not good anymore and that makes me really sad.

The menu features small bites, chicken, loaded fries, and they have specials too. I ordered at the counter and got a text once my food my was ready. There's plenty of seating inside the brewery and the interior is unique because it used to be a church. Don't quote me on that but I'm pretty sure it was at some point. Anyway, I had to try the birria egg rolls because there was a ton of signage. First, they were quite large. The exterior had a great crunch and the interior was stuffed full of delicious birria, mozzarella, and chihuahua cheese. The ancho chipotle aioli was nice and smoky and paired well with the eggrolls. Definitely recommend and I wish I lived in the area because I could make a meal out of just these. I also tried one of the specials, the Chicken Tinga eggrolls. Again, they were bigger than expected, had a delicious, crispy exterior, and was stuffed full of chicken tinga and queso. It was served with a side of crema. Perfect pairing and I might have enjoyed these slightly more than the birria ones. I highly recommend that you check them out. I'm jealous that I don't live closer because we don't have a place like this in KC. They are definitely a unique place with delicious food.

Get here early - parking sucks, and suburbanites will freak out at the hood, but no worries Jesus is right next door at St. Josaphats basilica and will watch over you. And don't forget to take a tour of one of this country's most beautiful cathedrals. Right there by Don Luchos. You can eat here. Lots of long communal tables so don't be shy. Prices aren't cheap but this is quality. I usually get a pound or so of carnitas. They measure it out, it's steaming, and ask if you want it chopped. I say yes. It's wrapped up tightly and it will feed you all weekend. This meat is freaking amazing!!!! I pray they haven't run out of homemade tortillas, but like I said, you gotta come EARLY. Sigh. There's about 6 different amazing salsas to try. Smoky, fresh, green, red, hot sweet - I get two for the weekend. I consider a quart of menudo. I think about. Lamb, goat, barbacoa, chorizo - but I have enough. Too hungry to wait to go home, I sit down to eat. Two tacos - huge! The best was the barbacoa - tasty little carmelized deeply flavored meat bits. Hey - don't go expecting American extras like sour cream or cheese. This is the real thing. Warming: one taco will do you. Got a side of rice and beans - yum. Don Lucho is a treasure. It is authentic, mom and pop, and these are the businesses I love to support.
