I've been to Cafe Corazon before, but my most recent visit was my favorite. I ordered the taco salad for the first time and it will be my new go-to dish. The taco shell bowl was perfectly crunchy and it came with guac and pickled jalapeños. Also the Thai basil lemonade was SO delicious. I don't think I've ever had a better lemonade--the level of sweetness was perfection. We sat on the patio that had cute floral table cloths. Also, our waiter was so friendly--he truly seemed to enjoy his job which made the experience for my friends and I even more enjoyable. Fun atmosphere! We were seated and waited in immediately. Waiter was as sweet as could be even though he got 2 out of the 3 entries incorrect. We enjoyed a nice Sunday lunch on the patio yesterday. We were greeted very warmly and offered complimentary chips and dip, which were delicious. I had fajitas with tofu, and my dining partner had a salmon enchilada. Service was quick and friendly. I had not had fajitas in a while, and this was the first time I had them with tofu. I recollect enjoying them in the past better with chicken, but tofu was ok too. No complaints as I chose it!! My companion, who is not a fan of Mexican food said the enchilada was ok. You can never go wrong at Cafe Corazon. This has been one of my favorite restaurants for years, and this visit did not disappoint. Bonus points for the 90s playlist we were rocking out to this day :) We had no wait at all to get a table, and they accommodated our party of several adults and two small children right away for a weekend lunch. I had the chilaquiles with chicken and salsa verde, which is my favorite thing on the menu. Flavor was spot-on and I like how they have both eggs and another protein in the dish (some places do either/or and that's just not complete to me). I came here because of the many vegan options, including a devoted vegan section of the menu that boasts 5 options. I got the vegan enchiladas ($13), which come with two enchiladas with a choice of protein -- I got soy chorizo for one, and tofu for the other. The dish comes with black beans and rice, or a side salad (+$3), and with a choice of red, green or mole (+$1) sauce -- I got the mole. The meal came out in about 10 minutes. The soy chorizo was prohibitively salty, almost to the point of being unpalatable. The tofu was less salty. But the mole sauce was also so salty that it made the soy chorizon even saltier and the tofu still too salty. I am not sure what happened here. Is this the norm, or do the chef's hand slip when dumping the salt in? Jeez -- they need to fix this. The rice and beans were fine, though nothing interesting. It's a nice spot and I appreciate all the vegan options, but my experience wasn't great because due to the hypertension-inducing meal. read more

This place is consistently good!! My first review here was 5 stars and I will continue to give 5 stars. I used to be obsessed with their wet burritos. While still good, I have shifted gears towards their taco truck dinner. I love their pork pibil tacos with corn tortillas. So good! I love the efficiency. When you walk in, prior to being seated they ask if you want chips, do you want to add guacamole or queso dip. We always want to add queso dip. You also have the opportunity to place your drink order then too. Sometimes I order my margarita then, sometimes I want until reviewing the drink menu. They have a nice patio though I find myself choosing to inside because I like their booths. My only complaint is that I don't like their red chairs. They are metal and gave that back that causes your coat or purse to slide off. I know I'll be back because this is one of our go to spots. read more

First why such a small serving of salsa?! The people of Milwaukee need more salsa!!! Second for a place in bayview, full of the most eco-conscious people in the state next to Madison, why are we giving single serve plastic for something that could easily be in a reusable container? Please consider changing this practice. I'm sure this went into place during covid, but I do not understand why it is still happening. If you happen to visit when the patio is open, DO NOT SIT INSIDE! If they ask where you would like to sit, AUTOMATICALLY SAY "PATIO". I got the platter with three tacos and rice. It was nice to be able to mix and match the proteins in the tacos. I had chicken, steak and ground beef. The steak was overdone but the chicken and ground beef were delicious. My meal was served with a side of rice and beans, but I opted for just rice. The rice was crunchy and I didn't eat more than a few bites of it before sending my plate away. My husband had the five taco platter (no side) and he had ground beef and steak. He also said he preferred the ground beef tacos over the steak. All in all, the service was good, the food was good and it was a good experience. By far my favorite restaurant to get Mexican food. They have the BEST margaritas. (Tip: order a jar, which equates to 5 margaritas for the price of 4). Their chips and salsa are amazing. While not "authentic," they bring a new spin that caters to tradition, but also mixes the local preferences to deliver a unique and flavor result. The use of high-quality scratch materials is evident. Their salsa is so fresh it should have its own hip-hop album! I was very impressed with their Pibíl (also called Cochiníta). There is something for everyone here. Carnivore, vegetarian, and vegan. I absolutely love the tofu in any dish or the soyrizo. They have fantastic tacos, delicious enchiladas, and scrumptious tostadas. I ask for the green salsa, and it's mind-blowing. This is next level flavor and spice. I think Padma Lakshmi would approve, and she loves the heat. In the old days, they would bring a squeeze bottle of it to your table; now, you just ask. I've never had a bad meal here. Lunch, dinner, and breakfast are all packed with flavor and served with your choice of black or pinto beans and rice. They have NA cocktails, too. Cafe Corazon is a VAST improvement over its former self. I have eaten here a few times now recently and both times was pleasantly surprised by the flavors and portions. I no longer feel like I'm eating leftovers that fell off the taco truck. Chips and salsa are now complimentary! YAY! You can opt to add guacamole for $3.50 or $7, and I'd highly recommend it. The guacamole had chunks of avocado, and it was quite flavorful and perfectly spiced. The portion was generous. The kitchen has greatly improved its offerings. Food comes out hot, not luke warm. This time I had the shredded chicken tostadas and they were put together nicely--pretty to look at, tasty to eat! I've also sampled the enchiladas with both red and green sauce, and they too were exactly what I'd expect them to be. Service was prompt and friendly. It seems Cafe Corazon reads reviews and takes constructive feedback favorably. We noticed the difference, and look forward to many returns to this neighborhood gem. read more

I ordered the breakfast steak quesadilla and honestly it was better than I expected. It was super buttery and full of steak. The eggs inside the quesadilla went really well with the other ingredients and it definitely got me full pretty quick, I was only able to eat half. I ordered a guava margarita on the rocks as well and it was pretty tasty and had a nice amount of alcohol in it. This place is able to accommodate at least a group of 11 and their service is decent. A colorful interior with many religious artifacts, it is down home. Order a cerveza with chips and tasty salsas. They are known for their mole so be prepared for excellent taste. Their menu, while not expansive has good selections and vegetarians will not be unhappy. We ordered the Vegan Mushroom Ragout which was very good. The Taco Truck Dinner and Tostada Plate were great. The service was attentive. Overall, a good visit. This is on our return list. read more
