Las Gorditas Ricas is a 5 star local restaurant "BEST FOOD & BEST DESSERT FRESH AS IT CAN GET" and a great service & pretty quick, for my review as the pro. The cons is not really much but needs to be heard small place but good enough for me. And here we go for the last info the drinks are not refill not even the sodas and the horchata is watered down "weak". But for me it's not about that it's about the food and desserts for this place to come up. But please change this issue ASAP. Real talk your boy. Instagram@backwardz.jr

This business uses 3 names, the other two are Taco Schmaco and Burrito Way. Food was 'No Bueno'. Missed all the bad reviews on Salem Eats 2.0, or I would never have gone. Undercooked chicken, overpriced and bland.

Yummy Loco and Gorditas bowls, Loco has asada and chorizo over cabbage and lettuce, Gorditas is asada and shrimp over lettuce

Since COVID hit I've tried a few things from them and both were home runs, still need to check out the hot dogs, see how their Capone Dog stacks up for me being from Chicago. The guacamole is a do not miss, and I love the burritos, my favorite has asada beef, bacon, and shrimp. My wife got their Gorditas and was very happy with them. They have also been wonderfully supportive to the community during this fall's wildfires and provide meals and supplies to those in need and really support all the front line workers through the many challenges 2020 has brought us.

Oh my goodness, why has nobody ever mentioned this place? Only living a few years in Salem, from Seattle , this is the first place I would recommend for tacos, Gorditas etc. it's fantastic, great service fresh food made with care. My new favorite, can't recommend highly enough.

Amazing, authentic food. Place is clean. Great service. I really like their fresh salsa and taco toppings bar. This is a great addition to our downtown area. We needed an authentic taqueria. Must try the gorditas de adobada and the handmade al pastor tacos. For dessert, try the churros and for breakfast, their chilaquiles.

We tried their new hot dogs and used their online ordering system which by the way is the best online ordering I've ever seen. The hot dogs were good! Loved all the fun toppings I just wish they used a better quality hot dog.

I sure do love Mexican food. My first time having a Gordita which I enjoyed very much. We had dined and had a variety of food. Burritos, tacos, Gorditas, and sopes. Washed it all down with a couple micheladas which were tasty but far to expensive. I think it was like 26 dollars for two micheladas. They better be pouring 40oz beers for that much. As far as the food went it was good. I would definitely go back. I read a previous review and saw them complain about onions and cilantro stems. Well cilantro stems are just as tasty as the leaf and very good for you so learn to like it. As far as onions go they are tasty onions. How could you not like onions? The salsa selection was pretty good. I'm a spicy guy and there was nothing that satisfies that craving but there tomatillo and red salsa both had great flavors as well as there avacado salsa. Wasn't the biggest fan of the Smokey red one. Overall great place and will be back

You can tell that both sides of the tortilla are not grilled... disappointed, as I ordered meat and tortillas well done/crispy.

I'll start out by saying that our bar for tacos is high. We eat out/make tacos at home at least 5-6 times per week. I called in a to-go lunch order for my husband and I at 12:35pm on a Thursday. I ordered 4 street tacos of asada, 2 street tacos of al pastor and 1 sope of carnitas; all with no onions and well done/crispy meat and tortillas. After taking my order, I was told it would be 25 minutes, which was longer than I would expect... glad I called ahead! I picked up the order at 1:00pm. 3-4 pay-for-parking spaces in front of the restaurant were all open. 4-5 patrons in the restaurant when I arrived. Order was ready when I arrived and was packaged nicely and placed in a paper bag with handles; napkins and utensils were both included in the bag. I asked about salsa being packed to-go, I was informed that I'd need to get my own from the self-serve salsa bar. My feedback: -Restaurant was clean and bright. Cashier was friendly. -The tortillas were double stacked, but it was clear that they don't rotate them when they cook them. -Only the outer two tortilla surfaces got toasted, both sides of both tortillas were not grilled. -Neither the meat, nor the tortillas were well done/crispy as ordered. -The asada and carnitas were not seasoned very well and were a bit bland. -The al pastor was seasoned better than the asada and carnitas, and I enjoyed the grilled pineapple chunks mixed in with the meat. -All 3 meats were juicy and not dried out. -Salsa bar was good. -Green and red salsas were both heavy with chunks of raw red onion. I order my food with no onion, so obviously the salsas were not our favorite. The guacamole salsa was good. I would have enjoyed having pickled spicy carrots in the salsa bar. -On a to-go order, I would prefer a restaurant provide the salsa in pre-filled containers and placed in the to-go bag. -Disappointed that there were some raw red onions throughout the order. -Disappointed in the amount of cilantro stems in the food. This may just be a "me" thing, but I am picky about my cilantro. I know it takes more time to separate the leaves from the stem, but the stems are bitter and I don't like them in my food. -Tacos were a little light on the meat. I ended up taking one of the two tortillas off and ate the taco with just one tortilla. Because the tortilla was not toasted very well, it didn't hold up that great... but the tortilla to meat ratio was much better with only 1 tortilla. -Husband ate the sope, I didn't try the sope. Husband thought the sope was either store bought or pre-made. He said it didn't taste freshly made, didn't taste made/cooked to order. -Overall, the value did not meet my expectations. For the quality I received, I would expect to pay less... However, I wouldn't mind paying their prices if the flavor and meat portions were better. By our standards, the food was on the lower end of average. We were really hoping to love this new spot, as it is close to our home and work, but it just didn't do it for us. I acknowledge they've been open for a month, we may give them another shot in a couple of months.?.?.? I hope this feedback is helpful and wish the business and the owners the best and hope they are success in their endeavors! UPDATE: Armando, Thanks for the speedy reply. I completely understand and know what you're talking about with to go orders and tortillas not holding the "crisp". If we visit again, we will for sure dine in.

I've been here a couple of times and the food is amazing!! The BEST Gorditas I've ever had! The salsas are delicious! And the churros are incredibly good! I'd recommend this place 100%. If you have the chance to try this place I promise you won't regret it!!!

Michelada Gordita, can you handle it?

So far I've been here 3 times this week, I've eaten their fresh handmade Gorditas with chicharon also with chorizo. If I wasn't on my way back to work I could've eaten myself into a food coma happily. The pastel de elote is a must have don't cheat yourself you gotta have a slice of this piece of heaven on a plate . I also had the hand made Tacos the tortillas were so soft and fluffy I wanted to take a dozen to go . The meats I ordered were very well seasoned and obviously fresh , adobada , pastor , and carne asada mmmmm. Finally I seen a picture on their Instagram btw go follow to see more, They make the biggest Michelada I've ever had a 32 oz of Modelo with every delicious snack perfectly piled up on top of and on a plate they serve you on ,you can order a smaller one but trust me the Gordita Michelada is a epic and by far the best thing I've tasted !

Heard about this place so went to try it out yesterday we ordered the hot dogs they were great service was good staff was very helpful the only thing i would like different is for my dog to cooked on the flat top don't know if they steam them or what but that's just how i like my dogs personally but it was still good will be returning

damn this place used to be one of the best in salem but now it's kinda sad. the salsas get more watered down every time i go. my fajita chicken burritos don't even have fajita veggies in there anymore. the prices keep increasing which i understand but you can't raise prices and make the food worse. definitely won't be coming back anymore :(

The bean dip tasted canned, the salsa was bland, Not a spark, not a kick, not a mariachi band. Chips and salsa should sing, make your taste buds feel alive But this batch barely whispered, "Hey... we tried." I ordered chicken enchiladas, beans joining the ride, Asked for salsa or hot sauce, hoping flavor would collide. They brought a tiny sampler cup, small but supreme That little shot of fire? Man, that stuff was the dream. Serve that as your house salsa big bowls, not petite Quit hiding the only thing that actually brings heat. Then came the bill cheap enough to shock, Like bargain-bin prices straight outta the clearance stock. So if you're a senior citizen, avoiding spicy thrills, Or you're rolling on a budget and just want full plates and refills, La Hacienda Real hits "cheap," but it misses the taste You'll get fed, sure, but man... it feels like a waste. I wanted to love it truly, with all my heart But those chips didn't crunch, and the salsa had no spark. I've had legendary dips, heroic salsas, chips steaming hot and great This was none of that... just a budget-friendly plate. So is it crappy, or just cheap? I'm honestly torn But next time I'll chase flavor somewhere better reborn.

(#1) For years when this taco cart operated along Portland Road (#2) it was low on the radar but known in the community. Fast forward a few years, it's not quite a brick & mortar, but a space for patrons to sit inside to enjoy their food while everything is cooked outside on a cart. The format isn't for everyone (#3), but it's right up my alley. Beyond the colorful murals along the interior and spacious seating, this is still very much a dive. The place is open typically at night and the cloud of grease that permeates the room from all the fatty meats being grilled up. The ventilation is questionable and the seating (fold up chairs and plastic tables) is hardly glamorous. I don't know if I'd have it any other way. For some folks, seeing certain taco meats sitting in a pool of lard / fat / questionable liquid might be an eyesore but once the grilling begins it's a new ballgame. I enjoy almost all the meats, whether it's their famous al pastor sitting on a tromp with a pineapple on top, or their variety of cecina, carnitas, cabeza (cheek, mainly), barbacoa, and asada. There's no guarantee of what they'll have on any given night, so I'm usually good with whatever they have available. The charred grill is also the same place for their tortillas, which are also fried in said lard, and give off this smokiness that might not be everyone's cup of tea. I think their barbacoa, which is chivo (#4) style, is really the best thing they have. The meat is incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It completely encapsulates their namesake in "ricos tacos" as one of their signature items. As always, it is cash only and speaking Spanish is a must. I'm not saying it's the best taqueria in the city, but for late night eats, it's certainly one of ones to beat. __________ (#1) Aka "The Godfather" (#2) Twas another time: https://www.yelp.com/biz/taqueria-el-padrino-salem (#3) Real talk: Most folks in Salem will likely never go to a place like this. My first impression was positive. The establishment was clean, brightly colored, and filled with natural light. The dining area is relatively small, with a modest number of tables and chairs, but it felt comfortable rather than cramped. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming. The employees were friendly, and the service was notably fast without feeling rushed. I ordered the chicken burrito for $8.99, genuinely unsure what that price point would translate to in size or quality. The answer was immediate. This was a substantial burrito, roughly 10 inches long, and packed from end to end with filling. Not one of those burritos that gives the illusion of size but turns out to be mostly tortilla. Once opened, the cross-section told the story clearly: generous meat, a good mix of fresh ingredients, and a burrito that looked thoughtfully assembled rather than carelessly thrown together. The flavor matched the appearance. It was hearty, satisfying, and exactly what one hopes for in a burrito. The chicken was flavorful, the ingredients worked well together, and nothing about it felt skimpy. The tortilla had a light browning to it, which added both texture and visual appeal. Just as important, it was wrapped exceptionally well. For a burrito this full, that matters. It held together while eating, keeping the filling where it belonged rather than turning into a mess halfway through. Another detail worth mentioning was the sauce selection. Having multiple options from mild to hot allowed for some customization, and they were worth sampling. They added another layer to the meal rather than feeling like an afterthought. What stood out most was the overall value. Quality, quantity, speed, and price do not always align this well, but here they did. For $8.99, the portion was generous, the food was flavorful, and the service was efficient. Add in the fact that Alberto's is open 24 hours a day, and it becomes even more appealing. In the end, what impressed me most was not simply the size of the burrito, but the fact that the entire experience felt solid across the board: clean setting, friendly staff, fast service, fair pricing, and food that delivered. After driving past this place for years, I can say it was worth finally stopping in. I would return.
