In all honesty, the place could use a deep cleaning. The bathroom wasn't too bad, which I really appreciated, but the restaurant needs an update. Our server was great, very nice. She brought us out some chips and salsa which were good. They have a pretty good sized menu, which made it hard to choose from but we ended up both getting camarones ala diabla and an order of fried shrimp tacos. Our shrimp plates were good. I really liked the rice. The shrimp's sauce was a bit sweeter than we usually like but we both finished our plates, lol. The shrimp tacos were disappointing. I am not a huge seafood fan but Las Islas might have just changed that. With a very seafood heavy menu I was a little hesitant to order so I stuck to mixed Fajitas. My friends ordered a variety of plates to share, we received all of our food at once and feasted. I'll be honest it was a lot of food for 3 people but we took our time, took breaks and enjoyed the ambiance/music in between bites. The service was pleasant, the food was presented beautifully and tasted fresh. My favorite part of my visit was the music. It was such a vibe and the banda playing made rounds around the restaurant. I saw a few reviews that complained about the noise level of the band but I actually enjoyed the loud music. We had a lot of fun and there was a lot of families and kids also enjoying the ambiance. The service was a bit slow even tho there weren't many customers we waited more than 40 minutes for our food. I highly recommend this place. We went with our family, kids are 4 and 8, it was a great family setting. But I can see us going back for Date Night too. The service was quick, helpful and kind. The seafood tasted fresh and amazingly delicious. We tried the empanadas with shrimp, the octopus, the ceviche, oysters with little octopus (púlpitos) and the chicken nuggets for the kids to split. The portions were enough for double or more. My favorite was the octopus, it was so tender and delicious. It came with a really delicious spicy sauce. If you like things medium spicy or less, I recommend asking for the sauce on the side instead of on your octopus. The empanadas were really yummy too, they came with two yummy dips. All the avocado they added to the dishes tasted very fresh. The kids chicken nuggets were elevated too, the fries were fresh like they cut the wedges themselves and added some sort of yummy batter, battered fries. They recommended the fish cut in half and grilled, can't remember its name. I'm going back with my appetite to get that octopus again and to try that fish. I got excellent service from Yareli and the food she recommended was excellent. It was full of flavor and you could taste the freshness. I actually really like a lot of the food there, the mussels in particular have really good flavor. But we've come here a good amount of times and each time they never are quick to say hello or greet you. Theyre not welcoming. I walked in and there was at least 3 people there at the counter and not one looked at me and said anything. Im the type to let them greet me when they finish what they are doing, i hate being that person that comes in demanding something while theyre in the middle of something, but apparently thats my mistake because they didnt greet me or even look my way for a good 15mins. waiter came and went and there was one girl inparticular just standing in front of me cutting lemons and still nothing. A few of the waiters smilled at me, but they probably didnt great me cause they assumed someone had already helped me. Even then, they could have asked if I've been helped. I finally got so frustrated I put my hand out to the girl cutting lemons and asked if someone could help me! She had zero emotion, not apologetic, and just said sure whats your name.
