    Steak and chicken burritos
    Olga S.

Service is so rushed. They just want to get you in and out so they can seat more people. I'm sorry to write this but this has to be one of the worst Mexican dinners I've ever had. The two tiny burritos were lacking any kind is flavor and the meat inside was so over done it was crispy. The sides of sour cream and guacamole were teaspoon size. We didn't get any of their drinks but maybe that's what they're known for here. I know I won't be coming back.

This is a staple spot for us living in Middletown. It's become one of our go too's! Service is always top notch, food always on point and the ambiance is a very cool setup. Tucked into a strip center behind Popeyes chicken, this is not one to pass up.

It's the quintessential Mexican place - good chips and salad and a huge menu. We opted for the birria tacos and burrito and they were fantastic. Probably the best birria tacos I've had in the area in awhile. We didn't try any drinks but it looked like they had some good flavors!

When this restaurant opened, we'd peek in their window before walking into Fat Jimmy's pizza joint and think - "it's dead in there". Apparently the families of Middletown learned about this spot because it was full on a Friday night! A few booths open thankfully but otherwise large groups everywhere and lots of families. It was ... loud! We brought our youngest son with us who commits to sampling every burger off the kids meal from Mexican restaurants. It was a average. He compared it to something you'd get at a community ballpark. Came with fries. My husband and I ordered two entrees to split. Pork tacos minus all the cilantro and sauce. I'd hoped to get the sauce on the side but when I asked the server said "maybe, but the kitchen is very busy." Only two tacos but the meat portion was generous and it was cooked to tender. Lots of flavor. Came with a side of rice and pinto beans. The ground beef burrito was also good. Not overly greasy and topped with cheese sauce. Also a side of beans and rice. The only disappointment was the cheese dip. Super basic and boring, as much as we loved queso we wouldn't order it again. Chips and salsa offered were great, and I'd consider the salsa at least medium flavoring. The team worked together to clear off plates and keep our drinks and chips coming. They hustled all night for families, including the kitchen to get dinners out timely.

Las Margaritas is a pretty solid Mexican joint in Middletown. Initially I had assumed it would be like your typical Mexican restaurant, but after a couple visits I no longer think that! They definitely have some specks of uniqueness. I really love their chorizo dip, I would recommend getting it over the standard queso. It has some sausage in it and is full of flavor! I also love their burritos! Their tacos are alright. They have a nice happy hour if you come at the right time, and the swirl margarita tastes like it is wine-infused! (honestly wasn't sure if it actually was?? Either way, loved it!)

My family and I came in around 1pm on a Sunday and they weren't busy at all. I was surprised to see them slower considering the after church rush. I ordered the enchiladas rancheras and it was fantastic. It came with lettuce, guacamole, and plantains. It came out quick and hot and was just a really good experience. Great atmosphere and highly suggest to anyone in the area

Mexican food outside of Chicago is always different and not always in a good way, but Las Margaritas didn't disappoint. Everything was very good! We loved the chips and salsa lol. My 3 year old went to town on the chips and salsa and the chicken taco. She doesn't always eat so you know it's good when she does. I had the steak tacos. They weren't the carne asada I'm used to at all but they were very good. I love that they serve black beans as those are my personal favorite. The prickly pear margarita was good. Not to strong which I was very thankful for. The bean dip we had has so good. I wish I knew the recipe so I could make it at home. The guacamole was very good as well. Not too salty and not too lime-y. It was perfect. My aunt and cousin both ordered the carnitas. Both enjoyed them. If you're in the area please stop in and enjoy a delicious meal. The staff is also very nice and friendly.

Driving down Shelbyville Rd I saw the glowing green neon Las Margaritas sign and was intrigued! What was this new restaurant located in a strip next to Fat Jimmy's pizza? As we walked up, noticed the "A" health inspection sign and that they were applying vinyl lettering to the door. One of the managers opened the door and said "we've been waiting for you!" What a nice welcome! Our friendly server Julie told us they have been open for 4 weeks. We started with some house frozen margaritas which were great. They are on special for $3.99 Mon - Thurs. We skipped the appetizer, other than the complementary chips and salsa, and ordered the steak tacos and chicken enchiladas. I was very excited when I saw they had a mole sauce on their menu, one of my favs when done well. I ordered the Las Marias chicken enchiladas with the red sauce, and asked for a side of the mole to try. It was amazing! My husband's steak tacos were delicious too. The staff of the restaurant was very attentive, with several people checking on us throughout the evening. Our tab was higher than what we normally spend on Mexican food at the local chains, but the quality of this meal was on a different (higher) level. The menu describes it as a "Made from scratch Gulf Coast Mexican kitchen....using the finest of Mexican herbs and spices." You can taste the difference!

One of my absolute favorite things in life is visiting one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. One of my second favorite things in life is discovering a new Mexican restaurant, whether it's a newly-opened eatery or just one we hadn't been to before. This is what this review is about. After getting an email and a couple flyers about Las Margaritas my wife and I finally decided to give it a try. To be honest you never need to ask if we want to go to a Mexican restaurant. You can merely think about it and we're on board. On a Friday evening we were seated immediately and surprisingly comfortably. We generally prefer tables over booths because some booths aren't comfortable. Either the bench seat is too low or too soft and you end up eating at chest level. The booths here are a good level. The dining room is painted purple and red. Normally I'd wonder about those color choices, but the red is a deep, rich red the compliments the purple nicely. The bar, situated at the back of the restaurant, is right-sized of the establishment and doesn't try to be the main focus. The menu here is amazing. Being a Mexican restaurant means that you'll have the core of the Mexican food items and some places stop there. Not Las Margaritas. They have a second of Special food items that are creative and appetizing. I opted for the Tlayollos con Pueurco and was not disappointed. Black beans in a corn meal blanket (think tamale), topped with seasoned pork. In a word, DELICIOUS (I've posted a photo for your envious viewing.) Our server (Julia) was great. Friendly and helpful and spot-on with the iced tea refills. Our first visit to Las Margaritas was great. I think it's a pretty awesome new eatery and I hope it lasts.

    Birria Tacos. Chips and Salsa

Birria tacos have been on my radar for awhile now. So I did some research and found this place right down the road from me. I ordered delivery (3rd party) for myself (I know, depressing). Everything was packed up nicely and I even got free chips and salsa! They're on the actual menu so assuming they're not free. The chips were good and the salsa was fresh...and they didn't skimp. I ordered the Birria Tacos. 3 giant tortillas filled with shredded beef, cheese, onions and cilantro...with that broth on the side. Also came with hot sauce which was yum! Nice kick to it. This is my first time having this type of taco, so I have nothing else to compare them to. But I thought they were delicious! I honestly thought they didn't even need the broth...super juicy. May have gotten slightly soggy because of delivery but regardless, I'd get them again. If you're working on your waistline or trying to keep your shirt and/or face clean...these just aren't for you. They're menu is extensive with a good price point so I'll definitely go back.

Great visit! This place has very good food and the atmosphere was awesome! I ordered the chicken tacos but of course it wasn't called chicken tacos lol! But either way it was good! The flavor was just right! The serving portions was just enough! I asked for a more spicy salsa for my chips and now I wish I didn't the green salsa is very spicy but good! I asked for the strongest margarita and it got the job done! Forgot the name but very good. Just asked for the strongest margarita they will hook you up. This might be my new spot for Mexican food! I give it 5 stars

I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
