It had a lot of potato, but it was really flavorful and perfectly cooked potato and it also had a lot of really thick bacon to balance it out. The bacon and the beans were the highlights for sure. Good salsa as well, they have a red and a great. I do wish they had a really hot one, but it was still very good. Also, pretty much zero extra grease/oil beyond what is needed to cook it which is always nice. The woman working the front was super friendly. Also, they have chapurrado right now; I'm definitely coming back for that. She said order ahead of time because they don't heat it until you order it to keep it fresher. Hadn't been here in awhile but stopped with my mom the other day. The food is always great but the customer service is what makes this place awesome! It's a family owned/operated joint and my mom was so impressed with the young lady who took our orders. She noticed how she was extremely nice to every single customer that walked in, and even overheard her telling one of the customers, "let me know if you need more beans & rice" after she gave the customer his food. I saw the reviews about the birria tacos (quezotacos) so I had to try them for myself. I stopped by and ordered 4 tacos with the consome which is $12. The portions are generous , actually the tacos can be split between two people. Unless you are really hungry. The birria is well seasoned and very tender, the tacos are not greasy and the consome broth was perfect. Service was great a young guy/young lady assisted me. Both were nice and kind. It is a taco with a thin layer of cheese complimented with deliciously soft and fragrant meat (your choice) with some peppers and veggies. You even get to dip it in delicious consomé on the side! Consomé is a thick stock that you can dip your quesataco on the side. It is a rich, silky sauce that compliments the quesataco perfectly! If you order the quesatacos, it comes with 4 of them with the consomé on the side. All for about $10! What a deal. The staff was also very friendly and full of smiles. I work in the area and I was craving nachos so after a small Yelp search I came across this place. My coworker and I placed an order for asada nachos and quesabirria tacos. The person that answered was so nice and attentive. She repeated the order back to me and told me 15 minutes for pick up. When I got there I found this place was a whole in the wall so I knew it was going to be good. Same person that answered handed me my food and I went on my merry way. Back at the office I opened my food, and it looked so good, still hot and fresh. Then I tasted it and it was just delicious! All the toppings were properly proportioned. Right amount of everything so you can taste everything! PERFECTION!!! I went back again and ordered the same thing a couple of days later and again PERFECTION! I feel like this restaurant is a small hole in the wall that I would not have been able to find without yelp. California burrito 5/5: I really recommend eating it fresh while the fries are still crispy. The California burrito is more simple than other places (your choice of meat, fries, and sour cream with some guacamole) but it's very flavorful. I will say it is on the smaller side. Carne asada fries 4.5/5: it's basically the filling in the California burrito and if I had to choose between the two, I would pick the burrito. I can't believe that all my life I have never heard of birria tacos until these past few months. Where have I been my whole life?! I have been depriving myself of these savory, decadent tacos!!! Thanks to SGV Eats, someone shared delicious looking birria tacos from Las Marias on Huntington in Monrovia. They were 4 birria tacos (or they call it quesotacos) for $10. It took me long enough but eventually we found a weekend where we had no cooking planned and an empty fridge.. so why not try these birria tacos?! When we stepped in, it is a small place with chairs and tables packed away obviously. But you enter this small Mexican place and overwhelmed by such a savory aroma in the air. In that moment, I knew this place would be good. We ordered 12 birria tacos for my mom, Vince and me. I was kind of able to watch how they make the tacos because the door to the kitchen was open. They cook the tortillas on the grill, add their delicious TENDER meat on with shredded cheese and white onions and pan fry it so that the melted cheese also added a crispy coat to the tortilla. Yummy! And that consomme broth is so thick and flavorful, it is like a stew almost! It was thick so it held onto the taco pretty well. You know.. I was taught that birria was originally goat meat but after some Googling, I think birria means Mexican meat stew.. I think you can use any meat? I didn't ask this place what birria meat they used because I thought I would be able to guess it, but I can't! They also serve other tacos and burritos with other meats, but I think this place is known for the birria! I called to order around 11:45 and they said it'd be ready in 15 minutes. They do have a bit of a line especially at lunch hour. I arrived with about 3 parties ahead of me but when I left line was out the door. My food was hot and ready when I got to the cashier. Definitely recommend calling in ahead so you don't have to wait. The quezatacos were crunchy and hot. I like the texture and consistency of it. I do wish the birria and broth were more flavorful. I thought it was a bit bland compared to what I was expecting. I'd recommend it to try thought since it's a unique experience. The asada fries are pretty average. Definitely get red and green sauce to pour over or dip it. (Nothing compares to fries in San Diego, but that's a bit far right now). Combo burrito with al pastor: it was massive! Bigger than a hand in length. It has a lot of different flavors mixed so in terms of taste profile, you have a lot going on. Definitely cannot finish this in one sitting. This could feed 2 people. Also comes with chips so get some extra sauce to dip it. Not going to lie, this can be a pretty heavy meal with food coma after. Worth a visit to come the variety they offer. I got the chile verde combination burrito. It's huge! 2 tortillas overlapped. I was only able to eat half (well a little less than half lol) it was tasty. The meat is pork. It had cheese, sour cream, guacamole, rice, beans and lettuce. Once rolled up. They pour tend and green sauce over it. I also got the quezatacos to try them. They were good. I just would have liked for the tortilla to have been crunchier. I've had them from a food truck in Whittier where they were SUPER CRUNCHY and I could never NOT have them crunchy again lol...but the taste was there. They don't sell them individually. Only an order of 4 for $9.99. They come with the birria broth to dip them. We ordered there and waited for the food. My sister got her food first. It was super fast. My food took a bit longer because they make the tacos when you order them. The price is good. I mean I got a giant burrito for $8.25 and 4 birria tacos for $9.99. The ratings were pretty good, and it's close by to I took the chance and honestly I'm a little disappointed. The quesabirria tacos looked beautiful, but unfortunately they didn't taste good. The salsa bar was nice, very watery salsa but both green and red were mild. I'm hardly ever in the area, but if you come just make sure to say, please add an even amount oof every ingredient.
