You will not be allowed to have additional guests even for a few hours, therefore it is very safe and private. I love the architecture which ranges from Mexican Baroque to traditional Spanish Colonial and the entire compound has cobblestone streets and cement walking paths. There are several little gardens of roses and other lovely flowers making this a great place to take walks and enjoy the scenery. The large pool/jacuzzi area has plenty of lounge chairs and shaded seating, a shuffleboard court, a gym, and a banquet room. There is also a large surfing beach with several sturdy palapas for all guests and owners to use. A visit to Las Gaviotas is certainly a treat. I love to relax, enjoy a good book followed by a leisurely walk, then swimming and a relaxing dinner when I visit.

I had to get into the shower and help my mom in as it's a tub with no way in except about 2 feet high and no rails to hold on to. We will definitely be back!!

I requested a room change due to these concerns. The second room also had issues. The mattresses were heavily worn and sunken, making sleep uncomfortable. There was an unpleasant odor in the room, and no extra pillows or blankets were available. The pool area appeared poorly maintained. The smaller pool near the jacuzzi had murky water and visible surface buildup. The larger pool appeared cleaner but was very cold and not in use by many guests. Overall, the property condition felt more like a low-end motel than what would be expected from a hotel with this reputation. I would not recommend staying here.

So don't be fooled by the pictures of the property. That means no gym access, no main pool access, no tennis court access, and very limited parking. The biggest issue we had recently was the amount of chlorine in the guest hot tub. My partner and I both felt ill after leaving the hot tub. Unfortunately I got the worst of it. Headache, dizziness and vomiting. I would never step inside it again. I do not believe these amenities like the pools are regulated or tested daily as they are required to be.
