The quality of this place is top notch. I've had a good variety of the their food and I can tell you that there isn't a bad plate on the menu. Their meats are well seasoned and the portions are very generous. The service is very good, I've been during lunch time and even when you think the place is packed, they will find you a seat, and are very accommodating to letting you pick a seat. Their 'aguas frescas' are great, I highly recommend their tamarind drink. I cannot wait for this pandemic to be finished so I can go eat lunch there again. read more

I'm giving this two stars (for the food), but the service was definitely five stars! I ordered the spinach enchiladas. The spinach was gritty and had not been rinsed well. I ordered two enchiladas and on the second enchilada (which I brought home), the spinach was on 2/3 of the tortilla. I probably won't return there. read more

Tex-Mex is definitely has its regional flavors from town to town so I was a little Leery about trying something outside of South Texas. It was a good call, very courteous staff, nice and clean restaurant with a good selection of food and drink. We had the Queso Flameado and sampler plate. This place will be a new spot! We ordered queso with chorizo which was gone in seconds. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas which were good. I had the chile poblano which I always get at every Mexican restaurant we try. Their Chile poblano is my second favorite. It's fried in egg batter so you know it's legit but the ground meat inside needs some more seasoning for me. Margaritas are good and cheap :) def recommend going here for dinner! read more

There just wasn't enough to like to make me want to go back. This place was so noisy I could hardly stand it and couldn't wait to be done. I could barely hear my family talk. It's a small place so we had to wait a while on a Friday night. We ordered carnitas and it just wasn't good. The presentation was awful. It was cubed pork not even shredded. There was nothing to top it with except beans and rice. No pico or avocado. Made for a dry bite rolled up in the tortilla. The chips and salsa were okay. The staff didn't seem like they were very happy and service was. Big disappointment! March 23- got a message from someone with the restaurant saying they were making some changes based on my review and offered a refund or complimentary meal. Pleasantly surprised with my visit at Las Palomas! We were seated quickly and our drink order was taken shortly after. While we were looking over all the menu options we had chips and salsa (the red salsa was my favorite, it was warm). I ordered the camarones a la plancha witch came with 6 jumbo shrimps and all the fixings to make tacos. I ended up doing two shrimps per taco. My food was great, definitely worth a visit. Wife and I came here for a belated Mother's Day Out Dinner, while in the mood for Tex-Mex. For under $50 including a 20% tip for excellent, attentive and friendly service, we had well prepared dishes and contented bellies. One of the favorite places that my family and I enjoy dining is at Las Palomas, a family owned Mexican restaurant located on Beltway 8 and West Lake Houston parkway. Not only is it a preferred eating destination due to the wonderful selection of Mexican American cuisine, but it is conveniently located less than a few miles from my home and less than a mile from the local high school. When my family and I moved into the area, most businesses were fairly new and not a lot of development was constructed. So, options were limited. But as a mother of three, with a busy work schedule, my husband and I had developed a habit to frequent local restaurants for lunch or dinner, simply because we didn't have the time to prepare dinner. With our son attending the high school and our youngest in daycare, we needed a reliable stopping place for dinner (most times) and just kind of one day stumbled upon Las Palomas restaurant. As mentioned, during the time, not much was available for options and as new customers, skepticism was triggered with inconsistent reviews from neighbors. But with Mexican food being the preferred choice, we decided to give it a try. With that said, from that day on I can honestly say that this is one of our favorite places at eat. From the outside, other than the white cursive lighting that reads, 'Las Palomas' , there is nothing that entices the soul that would draw a customer to this nonetheless small establishment. So, not much can be said about the appearance. Once you enter, nothing but booths and tables seating about 50 to 75 people at maximum capacity are displayed. Also, a few televisions and a small bar, nothing appeasing to the eye or to write home about. But once you walk in, the service to the customer begins with a welcoming hostess and a very quick seating arrangement, even on the busiest night. To this day, I've never waited longer than 10 minutes to be seated. Now most waiters here are very attentive, but one in particular takes service to the customer to the next level, I wish I could recall his name that way I could mention here in this forum. Just as soon as you are seated, chips and salsa are in front of your face and the drinks are on the way with a large side of delicious chile con queso. As we devour countless amounts of hot fresh tortilla chips, our order is taken and our waiter is ensuring our cups are filled at all times, from sweet tea to alcoholic beverages. The selection in the menu is too much to try in just a few visits, it is plentiful with a multitude of various selections from fajitas to enchiladas to gorditas. We also tend to get the parrillada which consists of several grilled meats with rice, beans and homemade tortillas. My mouth is watering just thinking about scrumptious food. I definitely recommend this restaurant as you wont be disappointed. read more

We stopped in after my son's baseball game for an early dinner (4:30 on a Saturday) on happenstance. Knew nothing about this place which is always a gamble. Service was fast & attentive. Restaurant & bathrooms were very clean. Loved the fresh salsa & homemade chips. Everyone in my family loved their food. I had the Mexican plate which included a cheese enchilada & tamale that were perfectly prepared. Taco was super crispy and not at all not greasy. Loved the rice, no weird veggies and light & fluffy. Our bill was around $80 for 7 people and that included queso for the table. Very reasonable and had enough leftover fajitas to feed my 2 teenagers second dinner. Gorditas and fideo, what else can you say but YES! We go every weekend and really enjoy this meal. Cheese enchiladas taste like they used to when we were younger I know sounds crazy but they just do. The green sauce would be my only complaint, just to liquid. read more

I have gone here a few items over the years and it it's gone downhill. I ordered the chicken fajita salad and was so disappointed. Almost $15 for a few bites of chicken over iceberg lettuce with two tiny avocado slices and no chips included as noted on the menu. I literally could have grabbed a salad like this out of HEB for a few dollars. The margarita was okay. Sangria was served without fruit and looked nothing like the picture on the menu. read more

First time here and the service was great, the margaritas were very good and the food was so good! We ordered the cheese enchiladas and a burrito. The burrito was huge and the enchiladas were delicious! We forgot our to-go box at the restaurant when we left but one of their servers came out to bring it to us. Horrible service our server barely said 5 words to us the entire time. My girlfriend spoke Spanish to her because she is bilingual and we had heard the waitress speaking it to one of her co workers so we attempted to make communication easier for her and make her more comfortable but for some reason she still decided to mumble in english. No drink refills, no refills on salsa. Food was below average. Queso was literal velvetta cheese, rice and beans were ok. Idk how this place is still in business. read more
