Las Playas catered lunch at our office today, and every single dish was outstanding! The chicken fajitas were tender and full of flavor, the verde enchiladas and red chile & cheese enchiladas were absolutely delicious, and the beans and rice were perfectly seasoned. The ceviche was incredibly fresh, and the horchata and piña fresca were the perfect refreshing drinks to accompany the meal. To top it all off, the cake pops were a sweet and delicious ending to an amazing lunch. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It's not often that an entire catered meal impresses everyone, but Las Playas absolutely delivered. I would highly recommend them for catering or dining in. We can't wait to order from them again! The food seemed like it was days old we ordered carne asada plate the meat looked gross from the start and didn't taste any better. Beans were from a can. Left the whole plate there. Also ordered the 7 mares caldo. The vegetables were fresh. But all the seafood tasted like it was days old super soft and didn't taste good. Worth a visit... and more than likely another! This place has been around for a good stretch, AND i'm glad they are still around! Although they display a lot less outside lighting for the restaurant to be seen from the street at night these days, what has NOT changed is their shrimp cocktails! They offer 4-5 different cocktails, each offering more seafood, and each are absolutely great! If this is not the home of your favorite shrimp cocktail, it is probably because you have not tried one here yet. Aside from the cocktails, their food is delicious. The chips are amazing, crispy, addicting, and thin - will not stab you in the gums. I could drink the salsa down it taste so good! The choice of drinks are excellent with even some signature ones to try. Their service is friendly and with a smile. I've never had a bad experience here through all the years I have frequented this restaurant - since I was 19. If you happen to visit, you CAN'T go wrong with any of the shrimp cocktails. The wet burrito looked like it was covered with caldo instead of chile, the flautas looked like chicken wraps you would get at Burger King and presentation was horrible my sons chicken strips where burnt and very thin didn't look like chicken strips. We order a kids burger , chicken strip, flautas and a wet burrito and 4 sodas cost us $72.11 ridiculous price for the food we got. I really don't recommend! First there was a language barrier and was difficult to order correctly without using Spanish translation on my phone. Which is not a big deal. I understand and was patient. She was a sweet women. What really got me was the canned soda. No refills and I figure two cans each can hold us over , usually ppl get refills. Well since they were cans and my family of 4 got a refill which was an extra can. Our total for just soda was $37. This blew my mind ! Almost $5 for a can per person. I would not come here again. My husband and I have been coming here for about two and half years we always felt welcomed by the owner he made us feel like family sat with us and have conversations about what's going on in our community,the food was always on point! IF I CAN GIVE ABSOLUTELY ZERO STARS!!! We had ordered a big order for a birthday dinner. Everything was a disaster for starters as we went to pick up our food we assumed everything was packed until we arrived home to notice we were missing rice, beans, pork chops and ribeyes. As we called they apologized told us to go back which we did to get our items. So we did the lady tried Giving us rice and beans maybe for about 2 PEOPLE! Considering the amount of food we ordered we expected more. ALSO! THEY COME TO TELL US THEY DIDNT HAVE ANYMORE RIBEYE OR PORK CHOPS! DONT YOU THINK THEY SHOULDVE GAVE US THE HEADS UP BEFORE WE LEFT THE RESTURANT THE FIRST TIME! THEY SAID WE "REPLACED IT WITH SHRIMP" SORRY BUT THEY DID NOT!!! Here comes the disgusting part as we are all having dinner laughing , joking I looked down and saw something moving. It I believe was a live crab as you can see in the photo. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE OF OUR GUEST stopped eating out of disgust. My mom had to go out and buy replacement pizzas for our guest. SAD!!! Considering the amount of money that was already spent. We then called the restaurant to speak to the manager. They claimed she was gone for the day she would "call us when she got in". The next day no phone call. So we decided to call! Spoke to "ANGIE" the claimed (owner and manager) she was a hot mess, with a nasty attitude she claimed her workers cleaned the oysters "3TIMES". I can understand rocks but this was a live creature. If it was cleaned "3 times" this wouldn't of happened. My mom did ask for half of her money back considering what had happened and how she STILL had to go out and spend more money on pizzas. Angie then asked to bring all the oysters back in (2 dozens) and she would refund the oysters cost. We then explained how the guest were already eating them before they were all grossed out. We then told her we can take the empty shells. She didn't find that acceptable. She had the odacity to say that it'd very common she "googled " and it's happened before. That should be a warning if "happened before". So this would not happen again. And then she then explained how they have a sign in front. They have a sign saying about risk of cancer etc. Nothing about live creatures coming out of there food. As our patience was wearing thin with her. She then hung up on us. Remember this "so called manager HUNG UP ON US". We then called back only to get attitude from another employee and told someone would call us back. It's been 30 minutes and no call. As we expected. We no longer would like our money back. But I hope this post will let other customers know the risk you are taking when coming here!! read more

Yesterday we went to breakfast like almost every Saturday, but yesterday was the worst of days. The food seems to have been prepared on a dirty griddle and they cooked absolutely all the food together and the food tasted horrible and came with pieces of old and dry food. I'm so disappointed not sure if they changed their menu or it's under different ownership/management. I was always curious about this place since my friend had moved in across the street from it. The way they advertised the restaurant caught my eye because they have a big board of their meals that appeared to be a lot for a good price. I'm not sure if it ever gets packed but while I ate with my friend there were two other tables eating as well. So I'm not sure if that's a key factor in how attentive the waitress was to us. The waitress was really nice and asked what we wanted to drink right away. As well as free chips and salsa while you wait for your orders. The salsa seemed like it was more tomato-ey in flavor, needs more chili. But it was good. I originally ordered their lengua platter but they said they didn't have that dish anymore/no lengua, so I was bummed since that's once of my fav meats to eat. I ended up ordering the taco platter, which was a big portion of food. I don't usually like beans, but I really liked how they made their beans. The rice was tender and flavorful, which was another plus! I grew up with a babysitter who always made me her take on Mexican rice which was always satisfying. So I compare restaurants to that grandma's home cooking. The meat on the tacos was good, but the tortillas themselves didn't seem fresh. I'm not sure if they hand make their tortillas and cook them but it sure didn't feel or taste like it. The meat made up for it, so that's okay.
