It's Cinco de Mayo and we decided to stop in. We were greeted as we walked in. This is a QR code menu restaurant. This a family ran restaurant. I enjoyed a Pepita Salmon salad with a margarita. My friend enjoyed the Tasajo plate with black beans and grilled vegetables. There is indoor as well as a patio dining area. I received a nice portion of food. My margarita.was delicious. Whenever I'm craving Oaxacan flavors, this is my spot. Such a lovely hidden gem. I can't believe I never wrote a review before. I love the mole enchiladas & the hot chocolate (for a warm drink) or Jamaica (for a cold drink). The salsa is so good, I wish they would bottle it up and sell it. Most recent visit was Jan 2026. Prices have risen a bit like everywhere else due to inflation, but the portions are the same (see pics). Service is also wonderful as well. Very attentive, but not overbearing. It's a very cozy place. There's outdoor seating as well. Street parking, but I never have to park too far. read more

Stopped by EK Valley after not going for some time and my god I am just blown away by how consistently good this place is. While my go to is normally the Chile Relleno, or Barbacoa, today I wanted something light so I got the Grilled Salmon Plate instead. Sat outside to enjoy the nice weather and it was such a great meal. The owners and the family that run it are so kind and hard working and really committed to delivering a delicious meal and experience everytime. Probably my top 10 spots in LA. read more

The food was very tasty. However, the portions were tiny. The tacos are miniature. They are about the width of a tennis ball. It taste spectacular but just very tiny. I didn't feel like I was getting my moneys worth. the serving size of the guacamole with chips was barely enough for two people to snack on. read more

My husband and I came here for dinner in mid January and had a wonderful meal. We eat very early and came in around 5 pm. There was no one in the restaurant but the chef greeted us and told us to sit anywhere we liked. The restaurant's ambiance is very colorful and traditionally Mexican, it does feel like you're in Oaxaca when you're sitting in here. The menu is extensive and there are plenty of options for carnivores and vegetarians. I didn't see many vegan options but I think there were a few (ie. vegetable fajitas). My husband got the flautas to start and he enjoyed these, but I didn't get to try them as I was avoiding gluten. He got the pork fajitas and I got the mole negro for my main dish. The food was presented quickly. I'm not a fan of fajitas, but my husband enjoyed his meal. My mole negro was very good--flavorsome and delicious. The mole was smoky and so good. It was a filling dish and I only finished half of it. Would recommend and am looking forward to returning. read more

4++ this place has neighborhood gem written all over it. Small little restaurant along Washington Boulevard and Culver City.. I've been meaning to come here for a little while. I walked in and was seated right away by a friendly person who took my order, not long after that. I came here for the Burrito Mojado Ranchero. It's delicious sizable burrito with Carne Asada smothered with their red ranchero sauce. The burrito alone is quite the meal. I also ordered the tamarind aqua fresca to wash it down. Very refreshing. Overall, I'm a big fan of this place. I'm a big fan of the small family run neighborhood type restaurants in this place is a prime example. One of my favorite places to eat ever. The food is amazing! Flavors are so specific and authentic. Everything is fresh. I love that the vegetarian options offer lots of different vegetables and not just a plate of onions and peppers like most mexican places do. It is a bit pricey so I usually share an entree. If they charged a bit less we would order more food. Please go there, they are so good and underrated. Let's keep them in business! read more

Amazing red mole at Ek Valley! Our party of 5 was quickly seated on a Monday afternoon. The outdoor seating was very spacious and very aesthetically pleasing, with all the colors. The extensive set of umbrellas and shades also kept us in the shade. Since they were closed for 12 days prior to our visit, they didn't have some menu items such as the mole negro and the chile relleno. However, the waitress was awesome and gave us excellent recommendations for alternatives. I got the tamarind agua fresca and the red mole with chicken thigh. The tamarind agua fresca was refreshing and just the right amount of sweet. The red mole is so flavorful, and chicken thigh very tender. I couldn't get enough of the mole on my plate. I also tried the grilled veggie quesadilla, which had a unique smoky flavor. I was very impressed by it. Overall, 5/5, will be back if I'm in LA! read more

My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place. The shrimp tacos are our favorite. The family that runs the restaurant is very sweet, hard-working, and you can taste the care in their food. But they recently stopped offering delivery on DoorDash and Uber Eats and it's been so disappointing not to be able to eat this delicious food and support this business as much as we'd like (and as often as we crave it). On the sharp corner of Washington and La Cienega you will spot this vibrant restaurant on the street. I must admit that for a chicken far from spring, the qr menu takes away from the experience. In the digital age it's hard to find tactility on the daily, a qr menu does not lend itself to that reality. Given that the service undid years of abandonment issues I'd been working through in therapy, it's no surprise that the menu would lack that extra flare. When searching for meaning in this cruel world, it's nice to have pages of menus to comfort the flesh but a digital menu of confusing layout makes me want to be laid out. The chips and salsa are excellent but left me yearning for more. Me and the little ones were left wishing for more, a complement to the quality but a mark on the service. We were ignored in ways that made it feel like an open prison with good food. My, now Unc, children and I immensely enjoyed our meals and felt the portions were perfect. So hit/miss! One day you get really great guacamole, chips, mole, chicken, fish, rice, and assorted tacos... the next day you get oily chips, dried out chicken and salty guacamole. The patio area is good, the inside is tiny but shabby chic and the service is spotty most of the time. You can only get beer here - no full bar, but that's fine with us. Just finished our first meal here. It was delicious! Ordered the guacamole and carnitas taquitos - crispy and flavorful. Loved the pomegranate seeds on top. We also got the Ranchero Molcajete - also very tasty. Each meat was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Couldn't get enough of the salsa and cheese either. We were given the option to sit inside or outside - seated immediately. Service was amazing. Came across this absolute gem of a restaurant while partaking in the Great Los Angeles Walk today. Stopped by because we were looking for a well-regarded Mexican restaurant on the way home to OC from Los Angeles. I can honestly say that EK Valley lives up to its positive reviews and more! The salsa was wonderful blend of spices and vegetables , beautifully complementing the fresh, warm "and crisp chips. I ordered an ensalada de nnipáles ( cactus ) that was as good as, if not better, than the homemade ones I ate when I taught in a predominantly Latinx neighborhood. The steak/ shrimp combination quesadilla was done just right, not overwhelmingly heavy at all. My wife also enjoyed the carne asada platter, also done just right. We'll definitely stop there again next time we're on the West Side of LA. Easy five stars here re food, service, and atmosphere( small and intimate). read more

The best back up choice...ever. We originally meant to go to Pop's Bagels at the Platform and realized they moved! We passed this spot on the way and we decided to give it a shot. Our waitress, Toby, was so attentive and answered all of my questions about the food! We were blown away! The prices were reasonable. I've seen some reviews that mention the prices are "fine dining" or "a bit high" - this is QUALITY and the prices reflect that. Mexican food is traditionally known to be "cheap," but Mexican food shouldn't have to be cheap for you to enjoy it. The food was soo fresh - even the chips tasted freshly made. We ordered the green enchiladas with shrimp, mole burrito with chicken, and barbacoa taco. The depth of flavor in the mole was amazing. This is an excellent place if you want authentic! It's a bit pricey but the quality and taste is all there. The chips and salsa are fully homemade as is everything else and special. We felt like we were transported into a small village atmosphere which was laid back and charming. The outside setting is quaint and non assuming. The service is definitely slower than average but very friendly, and that's the way it usually is when traveling to small pueblitos so please don't go if you're in a rush. EKValley has been in the neighborhood for a while and seemed to be well liked. I had a different experience. The would only give us one menu, even though we were the only people there and had asked for two. Then they gave us a miniscule serving of salsa, half of a tiny bowl, even though my friend asked for two bowls. I ordered chicken enchiladas. The sauce was ODD. It tasted like frozen orange juice with vinegar added, unlike any enchilada sauce I have ever tasted. It was AWFUL. read more

Excellent Mexican food! Stopped by for lunch on a Friday and chose to dine outside. Their patio is shaded and the decor is cute, and despite it being built out onto a platform on the street I didn't feel intruded or unsafe by car traffic, as the street wasn't super busy this time of day. Gentle Mexican acoustic music in the background. My server was nice, a pretty young lady who checked in with me and gave great service. On to the food: I ordered chicken mole enchiladas and they were SCRUMPTIOUS. They came out immediately and I wish I took a photo because they were plated beautifully but it smelled so good I couldn't help but start eating right away. The phone did not eat first today! The mole sauce was fragrant, slightly sweet and complex: a perfect mole negro. Rice, beans, and chips/salsa were included. I also ordered a Jamaica (hibiscus iced tea) to drink and was glad it was not overly sweetened. I asked and it turns out they make it in house, which explains the perfect ratio of sweet to tart. The chips are great -- hot and fresh. The salsa today was a red salsa made in house, not too spicy, with fresh parsley chopped into it. Overall a wonderful meal. Price was reasonable given how food costs have increased dramatically due to inflation - $19 for the chicken mole enchiladas (including the sides of rice, beans, chips and salsa) and $5 for the Jamaica which I got refills on. I couldn't finish the meal and had to get a box, so this seems like a good value to me in light of the quality of the food. I'll be back! read more

I've travelled the world including much of central and South America and I do not hesitate to say these are the BEST FISH TACOS in the world. Owner and family put so much g pride into the food.
