I've always wanted to Visit Las Rocas since my 20's when we'd drive by to stay at the Festival Plaza. I thought it looked stunning from the road.
This Hotel, that looks like it's seen better days, and charges like a Quartz Hotel, fell so short of my expectations. Especially since I paid $150 or so during the week.
Every corner of the white, sprayed on, cottage cheese texture walls and exterior, needs a pressure wash.
It looks like it hasn't seen a cleaning since the 90's.
Everything looks run down. The front desk are aloof and I had to wait so long get my room and I arrived on time. They all just stared at me as I waited and no one bothered to explain why an empty hotel with lots of rooms needs me to wait that long. The best she could come up with is "it's complicated". Wtf?!
I walked into the bar area to pass the time and two bartenders were chatting, and just glanced at me when I walked in . I showed my voucher and asked for my free margaritas, to help ease the very weird vibes I was getting. I sat down at a table to wait. After about a half hour I look towards the bar to see what was taking so long, my margaritas were on the bar counter and the guys were back to chatting. I was the ONLY customer in the bar! I walked over to see if those were my drinks, and I got a look of confusion and irritation that I interrupted the convo.
Another 30 minutes of waiting. The lobby was empty and I saw another family just arrive and get taken up to their room. Finally after crowding the front desk, I am told to follow a guy to my room. I am shown my room, HE opens the door to Room #305. (Remember that room and do not stay there). for me. (This detail is important) and leaves me in a beautiful ocean view. The view was the highlight for sure. But, very bare bones bed, with scratchy but clean sheets and one blanket. There was a very shabby couch that I don't think I'd sit on directly . TV reception was horrid. The worst part was when I tried to leave my room for dinner the door handle was completely broken and I could not close my door. I had to call the front desk. He came over, wiggled it a bit and said "here, it's fixed. He left quickly and I turned the handle to make sure it was secure and it popped out of the door again. This is so dangerous! I finally rigged it back but was very nervous about it all night. Everything in this hotel needs updating and a very, extremely thorough exterior cleaning. The facialist at the spa was good , but again the Spa needs so much attention too. The restaurant service was good, as expected for a resort.
For the price I payed for my stay, I could've stayed at the Hilton in Palm Springs. Sadly, I will probably not be returning here unless there is major attention given to the property, and teaching the staff that in the hospitality industry, you've got to fake being nice to people even if you don't care for their presence. Which is very much the vibe I got. Leaving 2 stars for the view, the spa and restaurant . read more
