Fixed my Canon laser printer which was damaged and wasn't working after a power surge incident.

Great selection at reasonable and consistent prices of both herman miller and steel series chairs,…read morewith plenty in excellent condition. Was able to try out and test a whole ton of chairs to ensure what I got worked for me and had no unexpected issues, and the chair I decided on (which was not what I had expected to like most before trying it out -- it was really nice to try out so many different options all in one place here) has worked reliably ever since!

Saw their ad on craigslist. Over the years all I've purchased is used office chairs from places…read morelike Liberty, so I have a general idea of what things should be valued at. After navigating through some of the most run down parts of San Jose to get there, we arrived at a driveway half blocked by an electricians truck. The parking lot was nearly full. We saw a man working outside and asked if we could park behind the forklift, he said yes so we did, but much of the parking lot was taken up by Liberty's inventory, a hodgepodge of office furniture, patio furniture, and what looked like psychiatric hospital rubber foam couches. You could only tell it was them from a worn out sign out front. We made our way inside to a warehouse stuffed to the brim with used office furniture. The first chair my wife liked she sat in. She asked the woman how much. "$450, it's a genuine Herman Miller, normally $1200 on their site" "Let's go" my wife said, and we walked out. Looking at the Herman Miller site, it's not the Aeron which is the closest chair styled to the web back/seat chair we were looking at. It might be a model a few years older, which means it's not worth 1/3rd of what the latest model is worth. I'm not sure where this egregious pricing comes from. $160 tops from the places I would go to. That being said, my wife said she'll just buy a chair off amazon. I suppose Liberty's warehouse will continue to pile up, especially considering the incoming economic downturn which will have these things literally being thrown out on the curb.

Now I brought my son to look for a new office chair since the one he bought from Amazon sucked! Lesson learned! Never buy a chair from Amazon since you can't try it out first. We love the fact that we can try as many chairs here without being bothered. Once we pick the one, the front desk, Isaiah, was awesome and worked with us to negotiate a great place. He was also very friendly! Will definitely come back recommend this place!

Five years later I was realized that "temporary had become permanent" and this standard chair didn't provide needed support that I need while working from home. I almost purchased another standard chair (Costco), but decided to do some homework. Found BT Express on Yelp. Delighted they had several high end office chairs - cost was more than the Costco chair, but much lower than buying it new. Left with a barely used Steelcase office chair. Enjoying the great back support and overall quality. P.S. while @ BT I saw some cool furniture and artwork for sale. Great for someone starting off - or if you want quality, unique furniture at a good price. Also - only 1-2 people working there on Saturday - but he did a good job taking care of all customers.

We didn't end up purchasing as we just found the same chair we were looking for elsewhere for a bit cheaper BUT I've visited many liquidators in the area the past month and could say they have very fair prices.

I was not sure if this is some place I can stop by and browse or not so I gave them a quick call to check. No one picked up originally but I did get a callback within the hour that the product was available and I can stop by to check it out in about half an hour as no one was manning the warehouse at the time. I arrived with a group. As mentioned, I was interested in the Herman Miller Embody and another was interested in the Herman Miller Aeron. There were a handful of premium office chairs throughout the warehouse. After trying my selection of refurbished and cleaned up Embody, I negotiated the price and requested the cost of delivery. Negotiation went fairly smoothly and reasonable. Overall, pretty straightforward and pleasant experience. I would definitely note calling before hand as their hours listed on their website is more of availability rather than presence at the office. Communication was great. I was called or texted ahead of time. Any delays were promptly communicated to me.

They aren't really set up to help the small home office folks but if one is willing to do some of their own research up front, balanced with a bit of patience, I do think this company is worth checking out due to the great showroom, insight & product selection from budget to high end. Trust me I did a lot of research looking for other options. Donna M. was extremely patient with my inquiries & providing me samples of finishes. I was making a small investment in home office furniture & wanted to make sure I was choosing the right pieces especially since I'm in my office 10+ hrs a day at times; I decided not to cheap out knowing I'd only be back furniture shopping in a couple of years. Donna created a layout based off my home office measurements to confirm what I was evaluating would work. After much obsessing I ended up purchasing Izzy furniture sight unseen (with no samples at that!!) since OWP did not have this line on display. Donna assured me it was a quality product & she was right! BTW, check out their resources list, a more than comprehensive group of companies they can order from-this is how I stumbled upon Izzy: http://www.oneworkplace.com/resources/manufacturers.asp Refer to the pics. I also religiously checked OWP's website for used/demo pieces. I did find 2 fantastic high end desk chairs which I purchased at half the retail price. If you want inspiring, non-officy, stylish furniture this is the place to be!

Called back to check again the next week, same story. Several weeks later, after visiting some other stores, I called them again and someone picked up. The person I spoke to seemed to be in charge of the business, and she transferred my call to one of the showroom representatives -- later, I learned there's a team of about 3 people who sit and chat with each other near the front door all day, and if they feel like it they will pick up the phone to answer a call (only if they decide to take a break from joking around). They sound like management, but are actually the company's secretaries. Eventually did manage to set up a meeting with a rep; although the inside looks very clean and "Google-y" (lots of bright primary colors) and they portray an attitude that most young tech start-ups like, the people working there themselves were clearly just doing their job and trying to *sound* smart, hoping you will take them at face-value and buy lots of stuff from them. They try to sound helpful, they just were not. They are there to sell you a chair, any chair, and convince you it is the chair you want. If you want a better chair that fits you right, and they are unable to convince you that the chair they are trying to sell you is the "perfect" one for you when it's clearly too big or too deep, they quickly show you the door. Pros: - nice interior gives you a small taste of how Google is decorated on the inside Cons: - focused on convincing you to buy a chair even if it's a bad fit for you - uninterested in doing business when they understand they're unable to convince a customer that a bad-fitting chair is the "perfect" chair for that customer - difficult to get any service unless you sound like you are from a tech start-up with loads of money to give them! (luckily, it's easy to look like you're from a start-up -- just wear jeans & a Google t-shirt) Here's a hint: pretend to sound like you are from a tech start-up, or from Google or Apple -- that makes them very happy to talk to you. Their goal is to convince you that "most" employees will like the chair they're trying to sell you (even if you dislike the chair and if "most" employees would actually hate the chair). If you are shopping for your fellow employees, I highly recommend bringing a few of them with you to actually see if they like the chair, rather than just believing One Workplace (whose goal is to sell as many chairs as possible regardless of whether your employees like those chairs).
