I'm going to preface this review by saying that LasikPlus has a very sophisticated social media advertising operation--they mention the gift card raffles, donations to charity, etc., for liking them on Facebook, reviewing on Google, etc. and such at every possible opportunity. Nothing inherently wrong with that, and no one suggested that I had to write a "good" review. Also, no one mentioned Yelp, so no gift cards for me! Onto the substance. The first thing you'll notice is that this place (which shares a building with a Whole Foods--of course) has the look of a large, fancy, high-volume operation. The operating room is in a giant glass cage so that you can see all the nifty equipment and take a selfie of yourself with it at the "selfie spot." (I'm not joking.) The staff is outrageously friendly, articulate, and well trained in customer service. Of course, this says nothing about the competence of their medical operation. But one assumes that attention to detail on superficial stuff is a proxy for attention to detail on the operational level. They tell you to set aside 90 minutes for the free initial consult, and they're not kidding. A more junior optometrist does most of the preliminary assessment and refraction, which is more thorough that anything at my regular eye doctor. Then you meet with a doctor (who is not the surgeon) to do an exam and answer questions about the procedure, risks, etc. I didn't meet my surgeon until I went into the operating room. I assume I could have if I had asked. In none of my three visits so far have I been left sitting around for half an hour waiting to be seen. Like I said, well-oiled machine. (As an aside, I was taught always to get a second opinion before undergoing any sort of surgery, no matter how competent the doctor seems. I didn't, but you should.) I impulsively scheduled surgery for two days after my initial consult (see prior comment). They're not doing cut-rate work at 800 an eye, but pricing was reasonable based on the averages I had seen online. On the day of, they repeated a bunch of the same tests, and then the big-dog optometrist examined me. I learned more about refraction during my 20 minutes with him than I could have imagined! He explained in great detail about how my current Rx was overcorrected, why they weren't going to do that with the surgery because it would make reading harder, etc. If nothing else, it was a great presurgery confidence builder that they've got you perfectly refracted. I won't go into detail about the surgery, plenty has been written on that. It's painless but WEIRD, and likely to trigger existential angst of the "why could I leave well enough alone?" variety. I will say that Dr. Straub has mastered the art of constantly talking you through what he's doing in a way that communicates "everything is going fine, and by the way I've done this ten thousand times before." The next day, my left eye was perfect. Crazy. (20/15, I'd later learn.) I was nonetheless cranky an anxious because my right eye seemed hazy and not quite as sharp. At the follow-up, the doctor promised me that it would improve--which, as it turns out, took about four hours after my follow-up. The decision of whether to get this done notwithstanding the small risk of complications is up to you, but it would be a mistake not to do a consult here if you're considering Lasik. read more

This place was unbelievable. After doing some research on where to go, I found LasikPlus and I am so glad I did. The customer service was remarkable and the speed in which I was able to get my LASIK procedure done was phenomenal. I had my free consultation on Monday, and on Saturday I had my procedure and was out the door in a little over an hour. I was able to get almost $1,000 off with the discounts they gave which made it really affordable to get the most advanced lasers and treatment. THE BEST EQUIPMENT, STAFF AND PRICE for the latest technology and lifetime enhancement plan for my vision needs (including some facilities in California). I shopped around and did my research. Cost and safety were my #1 concerns. When I came in for my consultation, i thought if it's under or close to $4K, I really need to do it here. After seeing the equipment and when they actually did a staring type test (mentioned on the FDA website), I knew this was it because I'd rather pay a little more to have it done right. Yet, I still went home and compared the prices from the leading "cheapest" lasik surgery in Denver, this place was actually CHEAPER WITH THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY AND ENHANCEMENT PLAN! With the other place, I had to get another prescription of drops (included in my post op care kit with LasikPlus), I had to pay additionally for their enhancement lifetime program, per eye; if i ever need to get enhancements done, I have to go there - the only location; and I have to go every year to their facility for my regular eye exam (insurance covered or not) or it voids my enhancement program. I turned 18 in October and the first thing I wanted was to do Lasik (dreamed of it ever since I was 12), I went to numerous and I mean NUMEROUS lasik centers and by far I felt most comfortable at this one. I got LASIK here in February and everything went great. The procedure was quick and so was the recovery. And the price was better than TLC Laser Center on Colorado blvd, who said I had to get PRK. I was told that TLC is more conservative. I just don't like that my eyes are still really dry but that is more my personal problem. I just got a Restasis prescription though so I'm hoping it will help the dryness. I like that I still have follow up appointments to check on my eyes until they aren't dry anymore at no extra cost. I would definitely recommend this place in Belmar. There is always parking as well and close to my house. read more

My friend told me about this place. She said "just go for a consult, they made me feel great." I rolled my eyes "sure" I scheduled my consult online, went in and my nerves were almost calmed in a matter of moments. I honestly didn't think I was a candidate for Lasik since I had an astigmatism. I did all my testing (and was honestly treated amazing by Chris!) and then I met with the Doctor. He was funny, great at calming my nerves, and explaining the process, AND explaining to me what the astigmatism was in such a way I never knew. I've had it since I was 5... so 20 years, and I finally got a decent answer lol. I went to schedule my operation and assumed it was going to be a few months out... Nope, they were able to get my in, in one week from the day! LasikPlus is absolutely amazing. The entire staff is extremely friendly and comforting. I was very nervous on my day of surgery, but everyone was so reassuring and kind. Dr. Straub was extremely professional and inviting. I felt very comfortable in his hands (literally, he took me by my hand over to the machine). He's very good about talking you through the procedure as it's being done so you know what's going on. The procedure itself DID NOT HURT AT ALL... it was just very weird and strange. I received LASIKplus in January 2022 at the Lakewood location to treat my nearsightedness and astigmatism. The technicians at LASIKplus walked me through the process during my initial consultation and let me know that the procedure was not painful, often resulted in minimal discomfort and offered a fast recovery. I was very excited to get treated. While the results of my procedure are aligned with my expectations, I can't recommend LASIKplus to others after the negligence demonstrated during my procedure. The procedure itself was extremely painful. I don't mean uncomfortable, I mean painful. While applying the suction ring to the front of my eye, I was in so much pain that my jaw was shaking uncontrollably. That pain continued well into the first portion of the procedure as gas bubbles were pulsed into my eyes. I notified the surgeon twice that I was feeling a lot of pain. I received no response or acknowledgement from either the surgeon or the technician who continued to carry on with the procedure. I left my LASIKplus procedure feeling extremely disappointed and dehumanized. I am not an eye doctor, so I can't confidently say what went wrong, but I know something went wrong because the procedure is not supposed to be painful. I explained what happened during my follow up appointment and received a quick apology, but nothing more. Overall, it felt like the LASIKplus team was overbooked and rushing through my LASIK procedure to get to the next person. It felt like the surgeon was unconcerned about my safety or wellbeing. This is a voluntary and relatively costly medical treatment that can be an amazing experience. I wish I had gone with a LASIK provider that cared more about my experience and safety. read more

Just a few days ago I had my free, very thorough, consultation at this facility. All of the staff is exceptional - very well experienced, educated, helpful, and kind. I scheduled my lasik appointment for a few days later - and had a wonderful experience. It's now been 6-8 hours post-procedure (after the Valium induced nap they encourage). And I can see! I had terrible vision before, I couldn't see 6 inches in front of me without my glasses or contacts. This feels like a miracle!! I'm 27, and could not have done this procedure early enough! I recommend anyone thinking about it to just go do it. You won't regret it for anything. I am so happy. The procedure only took about 30 minutes in and out the door. The procedure itself only takes about 15 minutes. Your eyes are numbed, nothing touches you - you feel nothing. The laser does all the work. It's incredible. They say that it won't hurt at all, and it doesn't. The only thing is a slight burning sensation for about 30-60 minutes after the numbing drops wear off. But I just took a half of a Percocet when I got home and slept it off. Now that I've awoken - it's well worth it and I feel no pain. I can just see everything - for the first time! So so excited and happy I did this. DO IT!! read more

The staff was very educating and comforting. I was definitely nervous but the surgeon talked me through the whole thing which helped a lot and it was super fast! They talked to me thoroughly before and after about my risk for dry eye, the eye drops, the healing process etc. I was a little blurry after the procedure and during healing but throughout and after the whole healing process my eyes felt better than they did when I wore contacts. I wish I did this sooner! -3.75 in both eyes with a slight astigmatism. Update: It's been a month since the procedure and although I did have some red marks on the whites of my eyes for a couple weeks, it didn't hurt at all and I don't need eyedrops or anything. I'm still a little sensitive to bright light, I wear sunglasses in the CO sun, and night driving but I was told that was to be expected for the first couple months post operation. I did a lot of research into various lasik centers in the Denver metro area, and chose LasikPlus because of the consistently great reviews it received. I'm so happy to say my own experience there did not disappoint. My consultation was very thorough, and Johanna and the other staff put all of my fears about lasik to ease. They explained the procedure and recovery period very thoroughly. On the day of the day of the procedure I was given valium to ease some of my nerves, and the procedure was over very quickly. I could read from the 20/15 line the following day, and my vision has continued to improve and sharpen in the ten days since my procedure. This center has the whole process down to a science. I had lasik Friday, May 26th- had the long weekend to heal and at my follow up Tuesday, May 30th I could see the 20/15 vision line....before lasik I literally couldn't see the big 'E' on the first line without glasses or contacts. I was pretty nervous about the procedure itself but once I got started I'm pretty sure I was in and out of the surgery room in less than 15minutes. The surgeon and nurses walked me through everything and were very calming. I was always nervous about blinking or moving my eye, but they've got that all covered! I was incredibly excited about this appointment. I've had glasses since I was in elementary school and I honestly can't remember what it's like to not wear them. My eyesight gradually deteriorated over time and has evened out for the last two years, so I finally decided to get LASIK. They managed to fit me in the day of my initial exam, gave me a plethora of opportunities to ask questions and always had answers for me. Each step was always explained to me in great detail and it was comforting. I was nervous in the actual room, but never felt a thing. The staff walked me through every step and let me know what was happening and what was going on. I was nervous since I couldn't feel if I was looking in the right direction but they kept encouraging me and letting me know I was doing well. The surgeon led me by the hand around the room so I wouldn't get hurt. It was over faster than I knew and was ready to go home and sleep it off. The aftercare instructions are very detailed and go over what will happen months from now. I also have a lifetime warranty on the surgery, which is great! I'm typing this on my computer now, which I would never be able to do without glasses before this. I'm so ecstatic!! read more

The tests that LasikPlus ran on my eyes to determine my eligibility for LASIK/PRK were inaccurate. They forgot to tell me that I need to not wear contacts for 14 days straight leading up to the tests, as I wear contacts daily and have toric lenses for my severe astigmatism, both of which change the shape of your eye and cornea. The fact that LasikPlus almost performed an irreversible surgery on my eyes with the wrong numbers terrifies me. Thankfully I got a second opinion from another facility and was able to avoid this. Then, when I asked for a copy of my own medical records/tests so that I could share this with another doctor, they refused to give them to me. I tried emailing them two separate times and called the office three times, left a message, left a call back number, and still have not gotten a copy of my records from them. read more
