I haven't been to Lassen Steak House in years and we were close so we decided to go. This was my second birthday dinner in two days. The place was packed! We were greeted immediately and asked if we had reservations, which we didn't but was graciously seated in a very short time. Our server was at our table with water and rolls in less than three minutes. She took our drink order and had them back to us quickly. The place was crowded but service was excellent! I had the rib eye and my wife had the grilled chicken. The dinners included salad plus two sides. We opted out of appetizers due to the amount of food offered on the menu. My steak was grilled perfectly as was my wife's chicken. I ordered glazed carrots as one of my sides and received fresh carrots in a sweet glaze (perfect)! Wife had asparagus and it was perfectly cooked. I didn't get pictures of the food because there was a baseball game on one tv and football on another! Sorry! Do not trust what they show on their own website. Example June 21, 2025 they were showing 12oz Prime Rib at $31 and their actual menu inside is $59 for 12oz Prime Rib. Sadly my $59 Prime Rib had a LOT of fat, much more than I've ever had anywhere. Also they no longer offer baked potato as an option so instead I chose "loaded" mashed potato and I liked it. I also liked my asparagus as a side. One of our friends also ordered Prime Rib and also overall wasn't that happy with his and the fact of no baked potato bumbed him out as well. His 4 small limp carrots had a massive amount of cinnamon on them. The side salads that came with our Prime Rib were nice. The Caesar salad (with shrimp) that one of our friends ordered she found to be very disappointing with a massive amount of very small croutons. The Chef salad (with added steak) that my wife ordered also wasn't very good. The fried pickles chips weren't as good as their former fried pickles and for $9.50 we expected more of them. Note that we went on Saturday June 21st, 2025 the longest daylight of the year however they no longer offer/do outside seating for dinner. For their overall prices I would expect like most steakhouses that charge as much as Lassen currently does these days to have cloth napkins however Lassen only supplies cheap paper napkins. The most flavorful, juiciest steaks you'll find. From their filet mignon, primes rib, and ribeye they are always cooked to the temperature you want and are of the highest quality. The Mac and cheese bites are the most cheesiest, crunchy, delicious little bites with a little kick of spice that makes you want more. There has never been a time where I've been here and almost every table isn't full. There's a bar with open seating or my recommendation would be to make a reservation online to make sure you wouldn't have to wait for a table. The servers are always jumping around from table to table to make sure their guest are getting the service they deserve. More specifically the last time we went our waitress, Stevie, was phenomenal. Stevie was very attentive with all her tables and brought all our items out promptly. From the outside you would think this restaurant would be mediocre but once you step into those doors it's a completely different vibe. The decor inside is elegant and such a calming vibe. Totally not what you would expect when you drive by this place. The owners, that took over this place a couple years ago, genuinely care about their customers experience. I feel like there aren't many establishments these days that care about the experiences their customers have and go out of their way to correct what went wrong. Knowing how much they genuinely care about their customers, I'll forever recommend this establishment to anyone and everyone. We hadn't been here for about 15 years before it was sold and renovated. It was a nice night for a bit of a drive and had been wanting to try it again. They did a nice job with the renovation-updated but still has that 1950's steakhouse vibe! Our server was great. Very attentive and friendly. We both ordered ribeyes as that's our go to. Went for a late birthday dinner here and it was a great choice! Our server was on top of every refill and need. She really made the visit memorable! Although this steakhouse is in the middle of nowhere, it makes up for it with their lively atmosphere and good food. I had the ribeye with asparagus and loaded mashed potatoes with clam chowder as my side. Everything was good and cooked well. The chowder needed a bit of salt but to each their own saltiness level. Wife got the special of prime rib covered in scampi and it was delicious! She loved it. Worth the price and the drive and it was very busy for a Saturday night! They did get us to a high top in about 20 minutes which was a lot better than the original wait time they told me of an hour. Started with Onion Rings appetizer. There are TOO many things that they did Right. Seriously. So I will list the wrongs things first. BAD: Asparagas: Either you get it Right, or you Don't. Overcooked and poor examples of it. Saute'd Onions, never used Vidalia. And one more thing that escapes me? Ah yes. Wild Rice, Bland. Flavorless. The GOOD: Oh My Gawd the Prime Rib Was Off the charts! Shrimp Scampi, Excellent! Done Correctly. Saute'd Mushrooms, OMG Good! Horse Radish, great. We enjoyed Lassen Steak House to celebrate a friend's birthday. We came on 44oz tomahawk steak night, the first Thursday of every month. We had a 6pm reservation and we were seated immediately as we walked in. The place was packed! We decided to split two, Tomahawk ribeye steaks between 4 of us. The grilled flavors and seasonings on the steak were outstanding! Probably one of the best steak dinners I've ever had. The restaurant had a friendly ambiance of log cabin design and a pleasing, family friendly atmosphere. They had a very tasty beer and wine selection. The salad, sides and tomahawk steaks were absolutely fantastic. Our waitress, Tanya was fabulous and very attentive throughout, as was the entire staff. The Vin Chef Garden Salad was delicious with homemade blue cheese dressing. The dinner rolls were scrumptious, buttery and soft. Had our Anniversary dinner there last night. Went fairly early, no reservation but were kindly seated. It was SO LOUD inside. Could barely hear the waiter. We both ordered Prime Rib with loaded mash potatoes and asparagus. When our food was served, the first bite of meat was an overs-salted crust which was caustic on my taste buds. Half of our slice of meat was fat and gristle. The asparagus was under cooked and luke warm as was the potatoes and meat. The rolls were good. Needless to say, I was so disappointed. Went with the family to celebrate a birthday. Our table was in the back room. It was perfect! Staff were great! Adults ordered some good drinks. Everyone was happy and satisfied with their choices! I celebrated my birthday at Lassen Steakhouse this past Friday night, and it was really nice. I'm not into the "bourgeois" steakhouses where you have to order your main & sides separately, and it matters which fork you use. My favorites by far are Buckhorn Steakhouse in Winters and Farwood in Orland. And now, Lassen is a close runner up! I loved the atmosphere; it was comfortable and lively. I ordered a ribeye and my boyfriend got the prime rib. Both cuts were much more fatty than we've had elsewhere, which lessened the edible portion quite a bit. My asparagus was tasty, but the brussels sprouts were a bit mushy. They would have been much tastier had they been roasted or flash fried. Our server, Lara, was so sweet and surprised me with a birthday dessert - complete with tabletop fireworks! We'll be back for sure, but we've both already decided we'd order leaner cuts of meat next time. read more

My hubby and I stopped in for dinner last night for our first time! We have been wanting to try the steakhouse for years now but just never made a plan to do so, or it looked closed down at the time. We heard the steakhouse used to be really good before the owner switch during covid, but we don't have that experience to compare ours to. We started with the pickle fries which were tasty and just as expected. My hubby loved dill pickles so it was something fun for him to try. I ordered the cod plate with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts and he got the 8 oz filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus. They both came with a salad which came out right away and was yummy for a side salad! It had cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, red onion, croutons, and a choice of dressing. I could have had a large version of that and been content! Our entrees came out pretty timely and my husband filet was one of the best we have ever had. SO tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. I don't eat a lot of red meat, especially if it's dry or over cooked, but I ate about a quarter of his steak because it was so good. We both liked the mashed potatoes and he said his asparagus were good. My brussel sprouts were mediocre but I'm super picky about them and prefer them crunchy and roasted over boiled/soft. They had good flavor though. My cod wasn't great. I would definitely not order that again but I did see a shrimp scampi that I would try next time. We also really wanted to try the fresh baked rolls but they were out. Bummmerrrrrr haha. Our waitress and all of the staff we encountered were very friendly and attentive. What a Diamond in the rough, off the beaten path of our regular route but definitely worth a stop...but check to see if you can get a reservation! We stopped in on a Sunday night and it was packed. We started with the fried calamari strips that were perfectly cooked and the cocktail sauce had just the right bite. Next we both ordered blue cheese on our salads, the quality supported the blue cheese being fresh made...I always ask. I ordered the New York medium rare that came with 2 sides but was a ton of food. My steak was perfect as you would expect from a nice steakhouse, the loaded baked potato was just that, loaded with bacon, cheese, sour cream and green onions. Lastly, the asparagus was fresh and perfectly aldente. So much food I didn't have any space for dessert. Be sure to check out the wine list. My wife and I went fort dinner Father's Day. The place was jumping as expected but it certainly didn't phase the service. Our server (Morgan) was awesome. Drinks and food came out quick and tasty. My wife had the salmon which was a very generous portion. She really enjoyed it and brought much of it home. I had the filet mignon which was delicious. Alfredo sauce should be creamy white this was terrible looking I should have sent back immediately and taken a pic for y'all . My second trip to Lassen steakhouse sadly wasn't as great as the first one. I'm not sure if the server just didn't see me or what lol. I asked for sweetener for my iced tea and waited about five minutes. I asked again and still never got it. The third time she came back I just asked if she could bring me a diet soda. I figured at least I didn't need sweetener in my Coke so I wouldn't have to continue asking. She apologized and finally brought me the sweetener. Geez what an ordeal. . My husband and I split a dinner. We had the prime rib. It's 12 ounce with "grilled JUMBO prawns". We asked for our steak medium which should be pink throughout. We also asked for it to be blackened. The Cajun seasoning was so hot that my husband had to scrape it off and he likes Cajun. I only had a few bites of my steak but it was definitely rare. It was red inside. We didn't bother to send it back. Figured it's nothing a microwave can't fix but still.... I was really disappointed in the "jumbo prawns" because they were just tiny shrimp, and they weren't cooked. A shrimp is NOT a jumbo prawn. If you don't have a jumbo prawns, just say so! Callit what it is, but don't advertise something that you can't deliver. They weren't grilled or or large and on top ofthattheywere opaque and undercooked. We had the calamari stick appetizers, and those were bomb. What really made them was the cocktail dipping sauce that was horseradish heavy. I love horseradish and it was perfect. We were also celebrating a birthday and an anniversary. we told the hostess, who seated us, and our waitress. When she gave us the dessert menu she said nothing. My dad had to tell the waitress again that we were celebrating a birthday and anniversary. It was just awkward. So she came back with one cake with awesome sparklers, but she didn't do the second one for the anniversary. I swear we had to keep asking for the same things over and over with this girl. We did holler at her though, and say not to bring the second cake cause I really didn't need it. Now onto the cake. It was a round cake with buttercream frosting whipped cream on the top and the sparkler. I'm gonna say the whip cream on the top and the sparkler was the best part of this cake. It's very nice to get a free dessert when you're celebrating in occasion, but the desert should be good. This cake was really dry and just not worth eating sadly. Overall, my second visit to Lassen steakhouse wasn't as good as the first one. Maybe it was just a one off. I might go back and if you haven't gone, you should give them a try. read more

We had such a great dinner. We were well taken care of. I had the Blackened New York strip with Blue Cheese crumbles and it was the best steak I've had in years!!! My wife had the Ribeye with sautéed mushrooms and onions and it was tender and delicious. For appetizers we had the potato skins and the fried pickles. Both were perfect!! I can't believe I can get a full steak dinner for under $30! And the appetizers are affordable--$6-8. Started with the Mac and Cheese bites. Little bit of spice, the bacon crumbles added to the deliciousness. I had a rib eye which comes with a salad and 2 sides. My Parmesan asparagus was perfectly cooked and the baked potato was huge. We have lived in Red Bluff for 30 something years and finally decided to try a Lassen Steak house!! For our first time they definitely did impress us! I would recommend to anybody for a Fantastic meal! We had the special barbecue Platter, and it was huge glad we shared it. Service was amazing, great teamwork with the staff. This afternoon we went to Lassen steakhouse for the first time. We looked forward to eating a delicious steak dinner because of the reviews. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our meals. We had Prime rib with rosemary, red potatoes and Brussels sprouts. I also ordered the lobster. The prime rib was mostly chunks of fat with very little meat. The flavor was bland. The potatoes were over salted. The Brussels sprouts were mostly mush-like without flavor. The lobster was over cooked and chewy. We did enjoy our salads with house blue cheese dressing. The bill was $150 for three people including a glass of wine. When my wife mentioned her complaint about the fatty prime rib, the waitress immediately replied it was a marbled cut and walked away. She was friendly otherwise and the service was fine. Unfortunately we will not be going to Lassen steakhouse in the future. read more
