We are regular customers of this restaurant and have always had good food and service, but tonight was an utter disaster. Horrible. Walked in Friday 8/22 at 645 pm. Sign says seat yourself. So I did. Then I wait 15 minutes to even get a menu. I place my order approximately 5 minutes later. The couple behind me got menus and their drinks before I did. I had to ask for my drink. As the time went on. A man walked out and over to the people who were served their drinks first and said food will be out soon. They were served within minutes. I however waited longer to the point I was going to walk out but I had ordered and I did not want to have food wasted. My food finally arrived 59 minutes after I ordered it. It was not great. I had to ask for ketchup for my fries. As I eat my meal the only waitress and the man we're talking to people. I finally realized if your not a local your not getting treated as a customer. You being treated as an outsider. I always tip my waitress and I always give them respect. This time however no tip. Nor will I ever go back. If your traveling g down interstate 5 go approximately 10 more miles and get treated like a customer in Williams. This place is horrible unless you're a local. If you find yourself on Highway five driving north to steelhead fish on the Trinity or Klamath and are tired of getting ripped off at Granzella's you really have to stop at this place. Been going to Granzella's for 20 years and the last time prices have been jacked up by 25% and the service was poorer by 50% and the quality of food was likewise down. Decided to try this spot on our way up north on the most recent fishing trip and couldn't be happier. The best Denver omelette I've had, anywhere. Service was great. Was looking for a little lunch while headed south on I-5 and decided to try this place out. If you're in a hurry this isn't your place. It took 35 minutes after we placed our order to get our sandwiches. Meatball sub was delicious. The bread was soft and lightly toasted on the inside. The meatballs and provolone were tasty. The marinara was divine! I got a little side dish of it to add to my sandwich and it didn't disappoint. Husband had the club sandwich and it was full of meat and really good swiss cheese, fresh tomato, lettuce and onion. He said it ranked in the top 5 of all time clubs. Sandwiches don't come with sides but they are large and worth the price. It's only $3 for a small side of fries and there's plenty for 2 people. The wait staff is nice and attentive. Definitely going to come back to try some main courses. read more

Right off of I-5, don't let it's appearance fool you! From the outside I wasn't really sure what to expect because it had 3 names? The Blue Plate Special Trattoria, The Berry Patch Restaurant, and then I guess if you come in from the right side of the establishment It had a sign with something along the line of Jack's bar? There was a separate sign for each. I think I ate at the Blue Plate Special Trattoria. Or at least that is the menu I was handed from Denise. The inside held a group of 7 elderly people and that was it. A few bar regulars trickled in from the "Jack's" side. They joked with Denise and she would have cute responses like "Oh, it's you again!". You could tell this was a place where regulars were appreciated. I always like that kind of atmosphere, especially in a small town. I came in one hour before closing on a Wednesday night. The booths were dimly lit, almost a little too dim in my opinion. As you will see from the pictures I took of my food. The décor had very small pictures of (I would assume of the history of Orland California) that you could not make out unless you were sitting right next to them. The food was GOOD. VERY GOOD. Honestly, I was impressed. We ordered "The Big Joe Deluxe Hamburger" & "Linguine with Clams w/ White Wine & Garlic Butter". The burger was split in half and was HUGE. Onion ring, thick cut bacon, big slice of provolone cheese amongst your regular toppings. I am a hungry dude and I can tell you I can finish generally any burger with ease, but this one I took some for lunch the next day. IT WAS DELICIOUS. We didn't have to wait long for our food either. My girlfriend loved the pasta (I had a few bites, myself). If your a fan of garlic and a buttery white sauce then ORDER IT! There was even some sharp grated cheese and clam meat tossed around inside the pasta, not just a few clams still in shell laying on top. I WILL BE BACK. Food was 5/5. Best fettuccine Alfredo I have ever had so garlicky. Big Joe burger is so big easy to split between two people doesn't came with fries you have to add them when we can get the garlic fries they are great . Downside is I think what a lot of places have been struggling with is being short staffed last two times we ordered we were missing items. First time spaghetti came with no meatballs then next time we went they forgot the garlic bread and to add garlic to the fries . Last time we went food was cold from sitting even though we waited 15 minutes for the food ‍ I hope they will get it together once things pick up. Menu is a little limited. Now, on the food: There is well known restaurant in Maxwell that also suffers from chefs who grew up eating tacos and burritos and not Italian food. Nothing wrong with that until multi-generational Americans order Italian food. Several months ago during COVID I had the vegetarian lasagna from the food truck and it was very good and comes with bread and a salad, very ample and reasonably spiced. HOWEVER, recently I had the PASTA BOWL CAPALINI & BASIL AND TOMATOES. First, the angel hair pasta is good quality and sensitively cooked. BUT BUT BUT it was smothered in butter, and not a butter with perceptible garlic. I asked the waitress about this and she said that they use fresh garlic. Well... not on noodles or bread. I got two cups super buttery pasta and two tablespoons red sauce which had no garlic, little basil that could be tasted, the tomatoes were stewed out of a can and some of it tasted burned, and hot pepper added to it for some reason, and I am not sure where in all this there was parmesan. The environment is very friendly and family-like. The service is great and the food never falls short of being incredible. Some things on the menu are better than others, (I personally am a very picky eater so it's not unusual for me to feel this way) but overall the burgers (my favorite things on the menu) are very juicy and don't have a fast-food taste to them. I went there 3 months ago As we were seated there was a man who was holding a flyswatter. There was lots of flies along the window ledges. I asked the man who he was and he said I am the cook. This place was an absolute gem of a find. It was about to close up a bit early because they said business was super slow that day. The town just doesn't have many people or visitors passing through. We found it because we needed to charge our EV and hadn't had dinner yet nearing 9pm. The bartender asked the kitchen if they could still make something for us and they basically reopened to cook our family dinner! We had a steak, salads, a veggie bowl, and pasta -- all were excellent. Highly recommend stopping by if you're going up or down I-5! But don't be confused by the billboard -- while the bar is open till 1am on Saturdays, the restaurant closes at 9pm (or sooner). read more
