Latea is an excellent place to go to grab a drink with friends. Even if you don't plan on staying in the restaurant, the large size bubble tea is enough to last you through the entire day, even enough to share with friends without worrying about them drinking it all! My personal favorite is the salted caramel. It's an excellent mix of sweet and salty! This is a great place to take someone on a date, especially considering the minimalistic atmosphere of the restaurant. read more

I've had drinks from here twice now and have been pretty happy with my orders for the most part. First order logistics: - Item ordered: House Milk Tea w/ boba (500 ml, no ice, 100% sweetness) - Total price: $4.23 ($3.65+$0.30, plus 7% tax) - Timing: About 3 minutes from order to finish. This was the first boba place I found on Yelp so I decided to give it the standard test of a boba milk tea and was pleasantly surprised to find such a good bubble tea location out in Indiana, especially when there are many other boba shops in Asian-heavy communities that don't even come close to tasting as good. The boba has a good chewy bite but wasn't too firm and the milk tea wasn't overly sweet, despite not reducing the sweetness from the original recipe. The success of my first order is what encouraged me to return. Second order logistics: - Items ordered: Hazelnut Milk Tea w/ pudding (750 mL, no ice, 100% sweetness) - Total price: $4.63 ($4.50+$0.30, plus 7% tax, plus 10% discount for Yelp check in) - Timing: About 3 minutes from order to finish. I went for a slightly different drink this time, opting for pudding as an add on. Being my favorite "topping," I am typically quite picky about pudding and unfortunately, the pudding here was a bit disappointing. It's advertised as freshly made, which you can definitely taste, but because of it, the pudding lacks a firmer texture. Thus, when drinking, the pudding kind of falls apart and you don't really get any satisfying pieces. Fortunately, the hazelnut milk tea was still good so the drink wasn't a total loss. I also noticed that letting the drink sit in the fridge for a little while helped with firming up the pudding so with that and the good flavor, the pudding wasn't too bad. This is quite simply the best beverage shop I've ever visited! Every time I roll into Lafayette I go across the river to Latea. I love their milk teas with boba, especially the lavender and rose teas. I appreciate they let you decide how much ice and sweetener to add (none, quarter, half, full). Drinks are quite expensive for just milk tea. Probably the best bubble milk tea place around Purdue though since they don't have that many completions. Recommend their brown sugar milk tea, they are quite unique. I don't see anyone studying there though but you could if you can i guess. And they don't have free water like at other coffee or tea shop. read more

I used to (and I am still) frequently getting bubble tea from Latea. However, I am very disappointed how their quality is very inconsistent nowadays. The quality of boba is really bad these days and the sweetness level or the tea aroma is different every time I visit although my customization is always the same. Also, I do not know why but it is taking them a lot longer to make a bubble tea. Even when I had no one in front of me waiting, I had to wait for about 15-20 minutes every time I visit. I realized that they were not handing out the bubble teas as they make it, but they would hold on to it, and had the beverage out to customers all at once, which made me really frustrating. Latea should really think about retraining their employees on their quality of the beverage as well as with the time management. I am seriously thinking of switching to another bubble tea shop. read more

They also have some pretty rad deals throughout the week (some of which are social media exclusive - I suggest following them on Instagram), so you can get more bang for your buck. Easily the best bubble tea you will get anywhere on campus, and I am willing to bet anywhere in the area. They have a lot of variety of all different types of drinks and they also are willing to adjust the sweetness for you which is great (I like to taste the quality of their great organic tea)! They also have small snacks and pastries too (although I've never tried). The staff is absolutely incredible, being polite is an understatement here! I love getting matcha with red bean, jasmine green with plums, or the kumquat lemon tea! Oh, and prices are very reasonable! This is by far one of my favorite spots on campus and it is a great place to go to get a nice change of pace from the usual spots up the hill. read more

Here's the thing: I love Latea. It's the best boba I've ever had. Ever. I want to give it 5 stars, because their product is that good. However, the business is run terribly. Why does this matter? Because I can never actually get what I ordered. The past 2 times I've been in, they haven't had the ingredients needed to make a house bubble tea (one time there was no boba, the other time there was no almond milk). Both have been Tuesdays in the morning or afternoon--- aka times when the business should be running smoothly. When I've been other times and they had the ingredients, the time I had to wait was varied. I tend to go in the mornings when it isn't crowded, but the time for my order of bubble tea has varied from 15 min to near instantaneous. While the product is delicious, the chances of actually getting what you want is slim to none. read more

Nothing but good things to say about Latea. I've loved every drink I've tried and the staff is always friendly and efficient. The bouquet tea has a very strong flavor but it's mg favorite, followed by rose, lavender, and hazelnut. The boba/bubbles/tapioca pieces are much larger than the ones you get in tea at Echo, and I definitely prefer Latea's size. They have great desserts and they deliver! read more
