I debated between a four and five for this rating, but service bumped it up to a five. I've been here twice now, most recently to celebrate my in-laws' anniversary, and our waiter plus at least one other staff that checked on us made sure to congratulate them. Also, our waiter was very attentive, had great recommendations, and our water glasses were never even close to emtpy. We sampled and enjoyed: Drinks - Pisco Sour - they are known for this cocktail, tastes somewhat like a margarita in that it has citrus juice in it. I would recommend trying this if you are getting a cocktail - Ginger Mint Chilcano - I would also recommend this cocktail, can't decide if I liked it better than the pisco sour or not Cold Bites - Garden Stuffed Avocado - good but not my favorite of the dishes that we tried Hot Bites - Empanadas - also good - Kobe Tacos - really cute, miniature tacos, good flavor - Tequenos (Venezuelan style cheesesticks) - cheese, yum!, plus these were also on the house, in honor of my in-laws' anniversary Cebiches & Tiraditos - Fisherman Cebiche - I tried a few other cebiches when I came the first time but I can't remember which ones, and I really enjoyed them. As a cebiche fan, I recommend trying at least one cebiche. The space is contemporary and spacious. You can see the chefs preparing the food. Valet parking. Downside is LOUD! Service was very good - quick and friendly. We each had an empanada for an appetizer - good but a bit pricey at $5 each. Entrees were ceviche (huge and good), quinoa salad (make your own in wraps), and AJI DE GALLINA (highly recommended - large portion of shredded chicken). We were full and skipped desserts. Damages with tip was ~$100. We liked it but need to try some other dishes. We found their old spot (now the home of Oxheart) was "cozier" and the menu seemed more eclectic - especially the appetizers. read more

3.5 stars. Located off of Woodway, Latin Bites is tucked in the corner of a shopping center which isn't too visible from the street. Once you park, Latin Bites is a somewhat upscale restaurant but the interior seems to need a little refreshing. I stopped by for the first time for lunch for HRW. After ordering a watermelon limeade, I was given complimentary homemade chips and some nuts with sauce. The chips were great, fresh and crispy, but the sauce was meh. For my first dish, I had the tequenos which are basically the Hispanic version of mozzarella sticks. The sauce was the same as the sauce given with the chips so that was meh again but the tequenos were good. For my second dish, I had the lomo saltado sandwich which is exactly what you would expect. Take lomo saltado, sandwich it between some buns, and leave the fries on the side. The buns were toasted but I thought the bread was about average. I did like the meat and fries however. Went here during Restaurant week. I had trepidations since several friends gave mixed reviews. I think part of that is some people expect this to be more Mexican when much of what I had was more South American, which I like. I think some of the other mixed reviews depend on the menu items chosen. It appears that some items are fantastic and others leave people wanting more flavor than what they got. It is a pricey place, so go when you want to celebrate at a nicer location - it's about what you'd pay for a steak dinner. I got a crab and avocado stack as an appetizer, the risotto for the main course, and their chocolate passion fruit brownie thing for dessert. A friend got their passion fruit infused ceviche (a version of their Trio Tiradito) and loved it but didn't like her main course which was simple chicken and potatoes with a bland green sauce. She wished for more seasoning on everything and was hoping that the green sauce would have a strong punch, which was lacking. She also really liked her carob flan, which isn't my thing, so I'm glad she liked it. As for me their signature appetizer Causitas (the crab, potato, avocado stack) was sincerely A-1 in flavor. The Andean Risotto was definitely another signature dish, it was flavorful and full of vegetables - creamy without being stringy or too mushy. The beef on top was perfectly seasoned to match the risotto cream sauce. The HRW passion fruit chocolate cake was really more like a brownie and rich enough that I couldn't finish it - but the floral notes in it were definitely welcome over something heavy and sugary. We liked their specialty drinks as well. I highly recommend trying my two choices - they are worth it. As for the ambiance, it's a place I recommend dressing up a little. The tables are extremely close together, so please leave your oversized SUV baby stroller in the car please. Parking can be a bit of a bear if you're looking at high traffic times, and getting in and out can be a pain since it's on the corner of Woodway and Chimney Rock. Update: I went again recently, and their food is still pricey - but very good. I just upgraded a star. The thing is Peruvian food is much milder than what people expect for South American foods. They have incorporated Peru's signature purple corn, which isn't sweet like our yellow corn - and very good. Their menu items DO change, which I did really appreciate - especially because I crave variety. We had their blue corn cheesecake, which was really good. I recommend trying any of the seafood options they offer. I love that we can watch the chefs make the food while we talk. The seating had been rearranged and was easier to maneuver through. I went with three of my Latin friends (from Brazil, Yucatan, and Chile) - and they truly enjoyed having an authentic experience. Well done. read more

Whatever you pick on this menu I can only assume will be amazing! This was my first time here and I picked what sounded good to me because I'm not entirely familiar with South American flavors. I ordered Tequenos (I believe Venezuelan cheese sticks), beef tenderloin skewers, passion fruit rocoto boneless wings, churrasco a lo pobre (came with steak, sweet plantain, french fries, canary beans, and rice with fried egg on top). Every single thing was so tasty and flavorful. The canary beans were quite easily some of the best beans I've ever had. The steak skewers and 6oz steak were beautifully marinated and seasoned and super tender. The boneless wings were the perfect bite size and perfect sweet heat balance. Also, that black mint sauce for the steak was heavenly, never heard of it before but it took the steak to another level. I'll definitely be back to try more items, and I have no doubt everything will be delicious. It's a very low key place but I would go as far to say this is some of the best food I've had in Houston! My wife and I tried Latin Bites for the first time a couple months ago and now it's one of our favorite restaurants ever. We eat there every time we travel to Houston. The Peruvian ceviche is the best ceviche I have ever eaten. It is so delicious. The Loma Soltado and Pescado signature dishes are absolutely amazing. The service is top notch. We took my son there and he has multiple food allergies but they were gracious and catered to his needs and he enjoyed the meal very much. read more

Second to only Pappas bone-in ribeye. We had a toasted/fried quinoa wrap for an appetizer. BEST quinoa dish I have EVER had. You must get this! My fiancé had the cebiche dec mercado. Very fresh and not fishy in any way. She claims that it was the best ceviche she has ever had. It has a small portion of sweetened sweet potato puree if it is too spicy for you. Wow AMAZING food, service and ambience. The attention was impeccable, our waiter Diego was always looking and coming to see if we needed anything added or removed from our table. The food is to die for, my parents ordered leche de tigre and pollo a la brasa, I ordered papa a la huancaina and pollo a la brasa nothing less than incredibly delicious, the taste of the food gives the nostalgia of eating in Perú. We also had tasty chicha morada, the sauces were also top notch. The chef Carlos definitely earns the title chef. We're originally from Dallas and the Peruvian restaurants over there are okay, nothing compared to Latin Bites Kitchen though. As someone that is Peruvian trust me this restaurant won't disappoint. Never had I eaten Peruvian food before. But a friend of mine highly recommended this place. So we made reservations and made a gals night out. This place was small but had a lot of charm. We dined in on a December night and they were having a three course meal special. I had the tequeños (cheese sticks), empanadas, and the fish for main course. For dessert I tried the cookies filled with dulce de leche. Everything was exquisite. The fish was cooked with this delicious tomato sauce that added to the flavors of the seafood. Takeout during COVID has been hit or miss, even from some of my favorite restaurants (in person). When a Peruvian doctor I worked with recommended Latin Bites, I wondered how well the food would really hold up to go, especially because Latin Bites isn't close to where I live. OMG was I wrong. Every bite was delicious, and it was packed really well to where we only had to mix a few things ourselves, but nothing had become soggy on the way. Standouts from our order were the Market Ceviche, Aji de Gallina, and Pescado a la Macho. Will definitely order takeout again and hope to be back in person once it's safer! read more

Cons: Water had a smell to it, and did not have ice Paella is good but the shrimp hand an almost "off-pudding" taste. I've been trying to find a Peruvian restaurant in Houston and it's been quite difficult. I got super excited when I found Latin bite, but to my disappointment the food was very salty and not the best. We asked for aji which is a traditional Peruvian green sauce and they didn't have it, and I had been really looking forward to it. Aji is like table salt in a Peruvian restaurant, its like a requirement, you don't go to a Peruvian restaurant expecting them to tell you they don't have aji. But it wasn't just the aji, it was the salty food and the service as well. Wouldn't go back again. read more

Very good place, food is amazing and people and service very good. Out to go place every time we want a quick date night. The place is very clean as well. They have an outdoor patio what I think is nice for big parties or what ever you want do.:-)) We have been also informed that the style of the restaurant has changed, small portion and sharing style. I think it is good if you have only one person eating but if you have two I would say it is not enough . But overall I think it was good we shared and had the chance to have a dessert what usually I don't because I'm too full for that.but I can understand that some people will find it pricey if they are use to over order and have left over to get to take home, but keep in mind this is a restaurant that serves french ingredients so it has a price. This place a few years ago was the Mecca of Latin food. As if they sought out the best chefs in South America, threatened harm towards their families unless they prepare the best food they possibly can. A lot of places don't get Peruvian food right, but this place did. A lot of places couldn't put a good spin on traditional delicacies, but this place did. In short, what happened? It's difficult to remain objective in this review because everything used to be top notch. Now it's just good, like just barely passed okay into good territory. The service has gone very downhill, they took out some of my favorite dishes from their rotating menu, and the quality of the food has diminished. It's not bad by any means, it's just not reaching the heights it once used to. The drinks are still spectacular. However the desserts have plummeted to earth like a 500 pound man skydiving with a faulty parachute. For the prices on offer, you deserve better than just good, you deserve amazing (because you are amazing, go you). Latin Bites is the boyfriend you had in college, the flame is flickering out but still lit just enough not to kick his ass out. But you should start searching for greener pastures else where, because the Latin flame in Antonio is no longer there. read more

Cute little restaurant with a modern take on Peruvian food. This place has great service, beautiful dish presentation, and darn tasty food. If you don't know, Peruvian food has a lot of Asian influence, so you will see dishes like chaufa/chifa (fried rice) and tiradito (sashimi-like ceviche). If you're wondering why an Asian's so opinionated about Peruvian food - my mom grew up in Lima, so she's introduced me to many dishes through her cooking and during our trip to Lima. And thanks to Jackson M. for the heads up on this place! Without further ado, the food line-up: Cheesy bread bites - DELICIOUS. These alternatives to regular bread baskets rocked my tastebuds off. I remember buying these at an Asian bakery and eating myself sick of them. Chicha morada - Purple drank made of purple corn. GET THIS if you haven't tried it. I love it. For you 'fraidy-cats: It probably tastes more like pineapple and cinnamon than anything else. Ceviche/Cebiche - Got the pescado. Really, really good. I'm glad that they didn't douse the fish in citrus because with me being a slow eater, all of the fish would have over marinated to be overly tough. Tasted perfect with a sliver of onion and a dip in the marinade sauce. Chaufa/Chifa - Peruvian-Chinese fried rice. Really tasty. Lomo saltado - Beef had a great smoky flavor to it. Rice was cooked with chicken stock and tasted deelish. Fries were ehh. Lucuma tiramisu - The only miss for me. I am told this is an acquired taste, but I personally thought the lucuma didn't jive with the coffee very well. ... from the dawn of the incan empire, Peruvian food has been the corner stone of what south American food measures itself by (record scratch) ... ok my review isn't that serious but when i think of 'upscale' Peruvian, i think of the genius master chefs like Gastón Acurio and all the new breed of food artist through out Latin America and specifically Peru ... so how does Latin Bites fit into my ideal search for the most amazing food i was fortunate enough to experience? Well, it was unremarkable and underwhelming for starters, to be honest they shouldn't call themselves Peruvian food at all .... i noticed it featured papas de crema, Peru has this amazingly delicious bright yellow potato that is grown in the Andes (lays makes a Peruvian potato chip there) so i asked the waiter if they use potatoes from Peru, his response was of course not ... eh? no? so then the robust flavor would just be some bland Idaho chalky flavor? so why even have this on the freakin menu? lets start with the hits: we ordered the cebiche (those Peruvians and their funky spelling) and some piscos, both were very good to be honest ... the fish was very spicy and tender, the piscos were down right delicious, the perfect blend of frothy and silky textures ... so i was stoked to order my meal ... then the food arrived ... since i have been to Peru, i knew what to avoid like the damn saltado, i tried this in Peru and was like hey this ain't nothing but a stir fry, the same goes for the arroz criollo (ain't nothing but some dirty rice) and that inca cola also ain't nothing but some big red in some yellow color, so of course i avoided these options, the fact that this "upscale" restaurant even offered these menu options was my first red flag that somethin' ain't gonna be right up in here, but i did love the Peruvian roasted chicken I so fell in love when i was running the streets of Cuzco where the most amazing Peruvian chicken lives (er is made), well this was more of the shake'n bake variety (hey now i like me some S'nB) but for the price you could get 2 family meals and better tasting chicken down the road at pollo bravo ... the rest of everyone meals where meh to ugh Here is my tip, on Tuesdays! go to pollo bravo down the street and eat there first, then come here for the $6 pisco special, but only order the original Why am i so nice to you?
