Hello! I am updating my review since the last time I came. My last review was from 2019, I used to work in the area and would be a frequent customer for lunch. It was always delicious and the portion sizes were awesome. The salad was always fresh, inside was clean and organized. Usually the service was like chipotle where you order and they take the chicken out right in front of you and give you your sides. Fast forward to 2025--- I came a few times but the last time I came was not the best experience. Now when you order- they pack your food up for you and don't show you the food in front of you. Which is fine but man the portions are smaller now, and the sides are not as fresh. We got the Caesar salad and it tasted so old and the lettuce was all wilted. I had to throw it away. As for the sauces they used to give, they gave us 2 sauces and they were both watered down. I feel like the quality definitely went down here which makes me sad.

    Cash payment savings.

I came here to try the food through the App TooGoodToGo where you can get food at a discount. I go inside and tell them how many box I ordered through TooGoodToGo and they start packing the food for me. It is usually an order of the chicken, some rice, beans, and plantain. I would order a drink from them if they have it. It's a nice fast casual restaurant, it's really clean feel and the temperature is good not too cold inside. This place also serve halal food here.

bruhhhh, I have eaten this on meal prep for the last two weeks. I'll order a family style meal that comes with two whole chickens (they cut it up for you), and 4 sides. Keep in mind, Yucca fries run out fast, potatoes are the number one seller. When you order, they often forget one item. If you are door dashing or ordering online, keep in mind when they run out, you will need to substitute something. You aren't the only one that wants to order here, and they know it. They will call you, and you better pick up! or else your DoorDash driver will sub it for whatever they want. They missed something out of my order like 3x/ now, but im still coming back because that chicken is smacking!!!! The plantains, broooo heavenly! Potatoes - highly recommend, and make sure you get some sauces on the side too!! I like the beans, I think it's flavorful for sure. Am I coming back? Hell yeaaaaaa I am! like next week!

Great option for me to switch things up a little on a Thursday. Stopped in around 5 and the place was empty and the staff was welcoming. The place is very spacious and well lite. It's cafeteria style so there's no wait to get your food. I got the 1/4 chicken, rice, veggies and fries. Overall the food was great. I would recommend to anyone for sure.

They had run out of beef ribs, so we ended up getting the pork chop instead, and it was really good! The mac and cheese with bacon was rich, cheesy, and delicious. The potato salad was a huge surprise, I'm usually not a potato salad person, but this one was a solid 10/10. The only thing I wouldn't recommend was this French-style side (it looked like a giant turd ). It was a 0/10 for me. I took one bite and couldn't eat the rest. The peach cobbler was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really wow me compared to everything else. Overall, the food was incredible, especially the brisket. I'll definitely be coming back. 10/10, highly recommend!

Definitely my favorite of their meats), jalapeño cheddar sausage (super juicy), coleslaw, bacon Mac n cheese (creamy and goood), and the meats came with pickled jalapeño, onions, and pickles. We also got the beef ribs, which were good but a bit salty, and a mix of the lean and fatty brisket -I definitely preferred the lean cut since it was already super juicy. The potato salad was hearty and good. Slicing the brisket! The workers were all so friendly!

We tried the turkey, brisket, and jalapeño sausage, and every one of them was delicious. The brisket was especially impressive--moist, incredibly tender, and so soft you didn't even need a knife to cut it. The sides were very good, but the meats were definitely the highlight of the meal. One thing we really appreciated was the toppings bar, which included pickles, onions, pickled onions, jalapeños, and two different barbecue sauces so you could customize each bite. They even had a mini soft-serve ice cream machine for a little dessert after your meal, which was a nice touch. They also offer family meal options, making it a great choice for larger groups. The restaurant was clean, had plenty of seating, and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. If you're looking for excellent halal barbecue in the Houston area, Levant is definitely worth a visit!

All the servers were prompt and helpful and our food came out quickly. The korma chop was heavenly like last time - so well-flavored and savory! The beef was definitely a good choice. The dumplings were delicious as well - a bit lighter on the flavor but quite filling and paired nicely with the chili oil dipping sauce. The restaurant was about half-filled on a Saturday evening so we had no trouble getting a table. There are plenty of seating options for parties of 2-4 and a few options for larger parties. It is a relaxed location and perfect for a date night, or dinner with family and friends. This is a nicely sized spot next to the Jusgo plaza in Houston Chinatown, so plenty of parking and also food options. It's tucked in a corner but should not be written off. Its a pretty casual sitdown restaurant and we were welcomed and sat pretty quickly on a Saturday around 8:30PM. We were provided menus and started ordering everything that sounded good (within reason for 2, sorta). We ended up getting the Uyghur polo with lamb shank, Uyghur goshnaan, korma chop, garlic cucumbers, mint tea, and a yogurt for dessert. This was more than enough food for 2 but I wanted to try a bunch and this is me holding back. The Uyghur goshnaan was very crispy and the filling was flavorful and juicy, good lamb flavor and nice spices. The Uyghur polo with lamb shank was great and the pilaf had a nice sweetness with raisins that cut through some of the fatty richness of the lamb. The korma chop was also super flavorful with a nice savory sauce and noodled with an excellent texture, very QQ. I don't usually order cucumbers at Asian restaurants cause I can make a cucumber salad pretty easily at home but the one here was very good. Excellent refreshing crunch and garlic flavor to go with all the other dishes. The mint tea was also nice to wash down the mountains of food I was inhaling. I also enjoyed the yogurt, it's a thicker yogurt like a Greek yogurt and topped with honey and raisins. Again, a nice sweet/tart treat that didn't feel too heavy after everything else. I definitely need to come back as I didn't even get my big plate chicken but it'll be hard to choose between all the options. I def recommend this spot, esp if you like lamb as all the dishes we had were excellent and priced fairly for the portion and current economic situation.

There, she describes hilly…read moremountains, rice fields reaching above your head, and dewy mornings awakened by the local cattle demanding breakfast. She emphasizes few ingredients that complement and highlight each other. Above all else is technique. The knowledge to know which vegetables are in season, the perfect time to poach fish, infusing oil with the correct about of peppercorns and aromatics takes years of practice. What I find surprising is how Mala Sichuan Bistro scaled out their restaurants with the same quality, crispiness, and consistency across all locations. The MKT location has the most beautiful interior, which is why I choose to go there. If Mala told you the crispy chicken seasoning was only 4-5 ingredients, would you believe it? Chinese cooking is about letting one ingredient shine in the spotlight with the supporting actors complement one another. My love for cooking started with the spicy crispy chicken. The crunch, the numbing from the peppercorns, the push and pull between sweet and salty. The oil to fry the chicken and the oil to dress the chicken afterwards creates a masterpiece that I have not been able to replicate at home nor have I found any other restaurant in America with the same caliber. The dry pot fish melts in your mouth with its delicate batter. The lotus root is crunchy while the cauliflower soaks up the delicious sauce. Compared to the water boiled fish, this dish is my new favorite coming into here. For the avid regulars of Mala Sichuan, I challenge you - Order something a little out of your comfort zone every time you come. Trust that the chefs have years of knowledge and the sample size for refining dishes almost 4x ours. If survival of the fittest makes the restaurant business cutthroat here, imagine the caliber of dishes that exist in China. Mala Sichuan didn't invent these dishes, it came from generations of testing, iterating, and feedback from their customers. When we dine here, we're having a snippet of history served right in front of us.

I love the mapo tofu and spicy chicken. The tofu is creamy, savory with a little bit of a Szechuan kick & doesn't come with pork which I prefer. (This dish made me love tofu!) The chicken is crispy without thick breading. Lots of garlic, szechuan peppers, and seasoning. (I wouldn't recommend eating the peppers.) The ambiance is great. The service can be lacking - they need to hire more servers because there's 1-2 servers for the entire restaurant and it gets packed. Every time we need something, we have to flag a server. Regardless, still 5/5!
