Came here for my wife's birthday last weekend because all she wanted was a good steak. And that's exactly what she got! The restaurant is on the third floor of the Four Seasons hotel. It's warm, cozy and perfect for a date night. The staff is super attentive and nice, they really made sure we had the best dinner possible. We got the filets, potatoes three ways and asparagus. The steaks came with their homemade chimichurri sauce that I honestly could have just drank. It was so good and the perfect addition to dinner. The potatoes were a fun take on mashed potatoes with an absolutely unreal oxtail gravy. My friend and I were staying at the Four Seasons and decided to have breakfast at Toro Toro. There isn't a dress code in the morning or at lunch time, but there is a strict dress code for dinner. It was a little more busy than usual so the service was pretty slow but our waiter was very nice and was absolutely doing his best. We did have a Bloody Mary for drinks- pretty standard and nothing too special. For food, I had the chilaquiles with shredded chicken. It was odd, I will say because the chicken wasn't really shredded and for an additional $8, it certainly was a lot less than expected. My friend had the eggs Benedict and salmon and said it was a little different than what he was expecting, but still good. One of the good things about this restaurant is the later closing time at 11:00 pm. (Many downtown restaurants close by 9:30-10 pm.) It is on the second floor of the Four Seasons Hotel, which has a beautiful lobby. The staff is fairly knowledgeable about ingredients on the menu, which was helpful since I am lactose intolerant. However, the kitchen is disappointing. I ordered a 16 oz steak medium rare, and I did also request for it to be cut into smaller portions. None of the steak was medium rare; all of the portions were medium to medium well. That was fine for my dining companion, but that is overcooked for me. For a steakhouse, that is a fail if they cannot get the right steak temperature as ordered. So I enjoyed the ceviche over the steak. The carrot and potato sides were solid but not standouts. I might return if it's the only option in the area late in the evening. I might try the bar downstairs first, which was still packed by the time we left the restaurant. read more

We stopped into Toro Toro inside the Four Seasons Houston and had such a great experience. The servers were super friendly and took the time to walk us through the menu, which made deciding much easier. We went with the summer special, which was three courses for $55. and it was definitely worth it. I started things off with the Ube Be cocktail. It was just the right balance of sweetness with that mellow ube finish, and the toasted coconut flake garnish added a nice little texture. For starters, we tried the Bison Tiradito and the Amarillo Ceviche. The bison was like beef tartare with really interesting textures from the pickled shimeji and greens, plus a drizzle of truffle oil that gave it extra depth. It also had just a touch of spice. The ceviche, mostly ahi tuna, was fresh and delicious--served with plantain and tortilla chips. The plantain chips were definitely the winner for me. The tortilla chips could've been a bit fresher. For mains, the chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy, with a nice charred skin and plenty of flavor from the sauces and greens on top. The steak was also solid, and the sauces really made the dish since it didn't come with sides. The sauce with the sesame seeds was mellow, while the chimichurri packed more of a punch. Dessert was the last round. The chocolate semifreddo tart with vanilla ice cream was rich and tasty, though a few of the salted pecans were very salty. Still, most bites were excellent. The churros, though, were my favorite. Even though they aren't a show stopper. They were fresh, hot, had the perfect crisp on the outside, and served with a brandy dulce de leche sauce that was incredible. Overall, I left really impressed with both the food and the service. My friends booked a table for us to have mu birthday brunch. It did not know what to expect. I had not been to the Four Seasons in years since my cousin took me for brunch. She has since passed away from breast cancer, so returning was special for me. Getting there was no issue. We had reservations for Sunday October 19 at 1pm. Pulled in and immediately greeted by valet. Now the restaurant is upstairs on the second or third floor. Finding the elevators was challenge coming in so took the stairs. You think you are there after one flight. Nope. One more my friend. Now welcome to Toro Toro. Now after you catch your breath you can view the restaurant. It's open out onto the floor. It has beautiful art and the interior decorating is superior. We sat at a round table. The chairs were okay. Let's talk about the experience. Our waiter was attentive and very friendly. Was not busy at all, so we got to enjoy a really intimate experience. We started off with some drinks. I had go to for the pain killer. I had not had one since I used to eat at Cheddars. I have never stepped a foot back into that place, so being able to have one that is elevated was great. We also did a flight of mimosas. We had fresh orange, mango, passion fruit, pineapple and grapefruit juices. They were divine. For brunch I went with the steak and fries. Added a side of soft scrambled eggs. We also got an order of the tres leches pancakes to share. I ordered my steak medium and it came almost well done. The fries were excellent. The eggs were perfect. The real star of the experience was the tres leches pancakes. OMG. Decadent and filling. I would go back for those again. After all the champagne had to pop into the restroom. The restrooms are beautifully put together. The star here was the soap. I legit went back to the table and raved about it. All my friends said the same thing. It was so good we asked the front desk who makes the soap. They sent my friend to the spa to inquire. We found out it is Diptyque softening and comforting wash for the hands. I went home and immediately ordered it. It came in today and my hands smell like heaven as I type this review. Worth every penny. Overall, the brunch experience was superb. We've been meaning to try this place since Quattro closed after the Pandemic. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. We arrived and valeted, make sure to get your ticket stamped for a discount. ($7.58) The restaurant is on the 3rd floor, you can take the stairs or the elevator to your right when you walk in. When we got upstairs there were only 2 other patrons, so I didn't have high hopes. I've been lucky in life to dine well, but the dinner I experienced tonight set a new standard. I began my meal with the Mercado Margarita and the Amarillo Ceviche​, which was a great balance of flavor, bright and tart. For my main I had the Snapper, which was cooked perfectly and the combination of the corn puree and slaw were delicious. At the recommendation of my server, I chose the Tres Leches for the final round. This was an exceptional dessert- light, creamy, salty, sweet, tart. The only thing that topped the food was the service I received by the entire team, my server Juliana, and the manager Cristina. I left the restaurant with a warm goodbye I rarely receive in restaurants I'm a regular at. The dinner was very disappointing our food took a long time to get served. My husband's steak was overdone and it took over an hour to bring him another one. By the time the manager Claire brought it back he didn't want it so Claire took it back and never came back to check on us. Additionally the craziest thing is they charged us for it. We never had Claire or any manager check on us. My husband never had dinner. On or way out we saw Claire and expressed our dissatisfaction with our experience and she just nodded. My first time at this fancy steakhouse located in the Four Seasons Hotel. Came with a group, for my friends bday. Birthday girl made an early resy. We had the dining room, essentially to ourseleves. At first, they placed our party of 6 near their fireplace. And while it was asethetically pleasing, we were very hot. So the staff were kind enough to seat us elsewhere, and it was much cooler. The place is modernly decorated with a beautiful bar outside the dining area. Food - I wanted to keep it light. So I ordered the Octupus Antichupo. It was pretty tasty. Grilled octopus with what I can describe as a some kind mash potato cup underneath. Everyone else seemed satisfied with their meal as well. Service - was great. I really like the bar and restaurant concepts at The Four Seasons Houston. I've eaten at Toro Toro twice over the past year and both visits were good. 1st visit: HRW 2023 We had dinner on a Tuesday evening. We didn't realize that they have live music on Tuesday nights. The duo that performed were great, however the volume was extremely loud! We had a hard time hearing each other even though we were seated towards the back of the restaurant away from the band. I had the Tamarindo cocktail and I enjoyed it. I started with the Wedge Salad for my first course. It's pretty simple, but tasty. I really enjoyed the bacon on the salad. I subbed the poblano blue cheese dressing with ranch dressing. For my entree, I had the Salmon. It was really good and I enjoyed the bok choy that accompanied it. For dessert, I ordered the Churros. These were excellent! My dining companions and I tried each other's dishes and we all enjoyed everything we had. I can't recall our server's name, but she was really nice and did a great job. 2nd Visit: July 2024 I came with a group for my friend's birthday dinner. We were seated in a room off the main dining area. It was more quiet which was nice. We were initially near the fireplace, but it got hot very quickly so we were moved to a different table. The fireplace provided a nice ambiance, but we didn't need the additional heat! I started with a cocktail called Loquito Por Ti. It tasted like a spicy berry margarita. It was a pretty drink because of the butterfly pea flower and I wish I would have taken a photo if it. For my entree, I had the Zarandeado Red Snapper. It was so good! The grilled avocado with corn and the chayote salad were tasty too, however the chayote was salty. The flavors overall complimented each other well. My main criticism of this dish is the portion of the red snapper. It was soooo small (I would estimate about 4-5 oz.). It wasn't worth the price. I was hungry an hour later and ended up going back to Bayou and Bottle for a snack after having a drink at Bandista. Manuel was our server and he was excellent! My husband and I stopped in here for some small plates and drinks before an event and really enjoyed it. Joseph was a great bartender. Really energetic, friendly and helpful. Gave us some tastes of different wines before we settled on a Stags Leap Chard for my husband and the Raventos Blanc de Blancs for me. Both were excellent. Their small plates were where they really shined. The Octopus Anticucho was amazing! Just a perfect dish that hits all the points on the savory scale. The Sweet Corn Empanadas were solid and the Swordfish Dip had a nice kick to it with the red peppers. I also got the Peruvian Ceviche' which was fantastic. All the things we got we would order again. I'm writing the review while waiting for our food........So I haven't made it to the food yet. Reservations were for 7 and we were seated around 7:45pm. Didn't order food until about 9pm. Asked for water three times before receiving my first refill. For as much money as this food is the service is HORRIBLE! I wanted to love this place but the service alone is a mess. I understand being busy but to be eating by 10 and being the LAST people at the restaurant is WILD!!!!!!! I guess my kind might not be wanted or we just lucked up and didn't come on a good night. I really hate this and hope the food does come at some point and is good! The two stars is for the espresso martini being good but not good enough to come back! We had a large party but one person assigned to our table. Just crazy!!!! Whatever you do NO large parties and I hope that's all it was as to why we received the service we did. Addendum: the tomahawk steak was delicious, broccoli delicious , and truffle fries delicious. But was it worth the bad service? Absolutely NOT! What makes it worse is we talked to management and we got NOT one compensation offered for the complaint! Not complementary drinks, dessert, discount on food! NOTHING! Oh no! Toro toro, you've gotten worse. While the staff and manager are still so friendly and wonderful, we noticed a huge decline in food quality and service. The swordfish dip tasted like a bowl of mayo (we added lime and that helped), the duck confit tacos were incredibly salty and had very little duck, and the Peruvian ceviche had no flavor and the snapper was so veiny and chopped to death. Although friendly when present, the server quickly became weeded and was nowhere to be found for most of the dinner. My man said this was on his list. So we decided to visit ToroToro for date night. When we arrived it was located inside of the Four Seasons hotel in Downtown Houston. We were able to valet and also get our parking validated. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. We started with two glasses of red wine because we knew we were getting to the meat. We had already looked at the menu and had an idea of what we were going to order. The menu is intricate and there were so many options. My man is a steak connoisseur so he got the Filet Mignon ordered Medium-Well which was 8 oz. I ordered the Colorado Lamb Chops Medium. For the sides we ordered the Potato Three Ways and the Grilled Asparagus. The waitress said the order was going to take about 30 minutes and that we should order an appetizer but instead we decided to enjoy the ambiance. Both entrees came with Chimichurri and a Housemade BBQ Sauce, and Grilled Shishito Peppers. I'm a fan of chimichurri & grilled shishito peppers. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and medium on the inside. Paired perfectly with the chimichurri. The filet came out over cooked, wasn't the most memorable steak. The Potato Three Ways were so creamy and the fried potato's on top made it the perfect combination. The Asparagus was so gooooood, the miso aioli and avocado tahini literally made every bite taste as good as the one before. After we finished dinner we waited for our waitress to come back to order another glass of wine but by the time she came back we had been finished with our meal for quite some time. All in all, I would definitely come back and try more of the menu. It was a great experience. read more

I want to be as fair as possible, so hang on and pay attention. Im sure we can all agree that there are three elements that make an experience - ambience, food (taste and temperature), and service. So I'll break them all down as I experienced them starting less than 4 hours ago. Ambience: the music was some kind of pop flavored electronic dance music. Not what I expected at all for a restaurant charging these prices inside a Four Seasons hotel. Appropriate for the bar downstairs but not my taste for a finer dining meal. Too loud.... Too clubby.... On this same note, I made my reservation pointing out that we were there to celebrate our anniversary and wanted a cozier table. They seated us in the bar area where it was super loud. We did move to a quieter area, but I have to wonder why they picked the loudest part of the restaurant for our experience instead of the quieter room off to the side. Also, the room was cold. My wife had to wear her coat throughout the entire meal. This is important as it affected the meal. We ordered guacamole, duck tacos, ribeye, and sides of potatoes, Mac/cheese, and broccolini. The guacamole is served smoked. There are two issues here. The guacamole is seemingly not seasoned in any way and even if it was the smoke muted any other flavor entirely. We kept squeezing in lime and adding salt and pepper and couldn't get any extra flavor out of it. Duck tacos - DELICIOUS!! I'd order those again with zero hesitation. The ribeye tasted fine, but it was barely warm and I'll argue all day that there's no way it was 14ozs. It was cut to be about a half inch thick. Absolutely ridiculous.... The warmish three way potatoes were actually two ways - mashed with small crispy-ish pieces. Where were the fingerlings? They certainly weren't in our dish. The oxtail gravy was delicious. That should be a side used as steak sauce, in my opinion. Absolutely delicious! The lobster Mac was barely warm and completely flavorless. Just bland, bland, bland. The broccolini - cold. Not room temp, but cold. Like came out of the refrigerator and sat on the counter for a bit to get close to room temp but still served cold. Now again, I want to be fair. It was close to freezing outside and we were sitting near a window. The better part of the restaurant is close to the windows. The room was cold. Our table was physically super cold. That means the ambient temp was drawing heat out of our plates. But that shouldn't be our problem. All of our food was somewhere between kinda close to warm, room temp, or cold. NOTHING was hot. So regardless of taste, the temperature was poor for what should have been a hot meal. The service was okay. Not great, but good/okay. I have 2 complaints though. I ordered a bottle of wine when i ordered our main entree and sides. 10-15 minutes later when our food was flown out of the kitchen, we still didn't have our bottle of wine. Also, my wife was vacillating on the duck taco or the short rib taco so our server brought us a single short rib taco along with our appetizers. Wow what a nice thing to do. Ya, but then he charged us for an item he decided to offer us even though we didn't ask for it. Is the $6 going to kill us? Of course not. But the principle of serving us and charging us for items we didn't order really rubs me wrong. Overall I think I'm being fair or possibly generous with 3 stars. This is a bar/restaurant catering to the - I want to spend a lot of money and be seen doing it crowd. It's definitely not for the - I've got a lot of money to spend and I want to have a great experience for what I'm spending crowd. For me, the value proposition was akin to going to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, but this was 4 to 5 times the cost. read more
