    Citrus Garden Pasta with Chicken

Had to use the ole Yelp machine to figure out where the heck to eat in Plattsburgh after a meeting....and blammo! We found this gorgeous lil gem! Listed as "an American bistro" and of course, I'm curious what that looks like in different areas of our state, so it had to happen. It's hard to argue that this place exudes anything less than fine dining, and appears to be on the level of any larger metropolitan areas' concepts of decor and environs. Very modern play on the clash of materials and colors, decorated with a certain flair that literally makes you feel at home, and yet somewhere fancy at the same time. But....I came here to eat! So what do they have?!? A rather well-curated menu that truly shows their ambitions and k ow how to be a favorite spot of many a foodie. Starters like white truffle fries, duck wings, and even Mexican street corn polenta are enough to catch the eye and the taste buds! Sandwiches, flat breads, burgers, fish & chips, crab-stuffed sole... and so much more! I was feeling like a carbivore, and had my eye on the citrus garden pasta. One walked by me with a server and I needed it. Summer squash, corn, basil, olive oil, lemon juice, goat cheese done with cellentani pasta...oh hell yes! I blew past the vegan version like a it was a miniature stop sign and added the grilled chicken - trust me my carnivorous friends - that wasn't a mistake! It set the dish up and over and beyond! Go here. Eat stuff. Be happy.

I had not been here in a year and now I know why . They try hard yet food quality is fair to medium at best . Small Portions for price paid . And Wine $13.00 for one glass a bit much ! We had Fish & Chips $14.00 a piece and a half , I substituted salad instead of fries and they fit it all on the tiny appetizer size plate . The other dish was Chicken & Pasta which had great flavor again. Small portions for price paid . In the Plattsburgh area there are better choices.

My dinner experience there certainly lived up to expectations. The restaurant is small, seating maybe about 30 people. I wouldn't call it intimate, but I would call it friendly. The menu items are enjoyably named, with some interesting ingredient and flavor combinations. Service is fast and friendly; 3 servers can take care of all the tables quite nicely, with time for fun conversation as you go. The cocktail list is small, and the drinks are simply garnished, but everything we tried was quite flavorful and reasonably priced. As an appetizer, the Moo Moo Dippers, filled with shaved ribeye and corned beef and combined with the remoulade sauce for dipping. were addicting. My salmon filet came atop a bed of roasted sweet potato and corn hash and a sauce on top to give it more interesting presentation and flavor. The pork medallions were similarly appealing. We passed on dessert, because most of the offerings had some form of caffeine in them (e.g., boozy affogato), but I'm certain they would have been equally delicious. I was surprised the restaurant closed so early on days they're actually open, i.e., 8pm. So if you want convenient dining, get there early for dinner, because it does fill up.

Do not waste your money here…read more This place tries to give the air of high-end excellence and quality food execution, but it is a complete facade masking terrible food, what seems to be poor kitchen standards, and apparently unyielding and greedy management. There are justifiably blatant ethical and principle issues with how this establishment is run. Last night went downhill early on when a friend ordered a drink that had an awful presentation that the waiter unprompted acknowledged and apologized for how bad it looked. It tasted as bad as it looked. My friend tried to suffer through drinking it anyway, but it was just that bad. Even when we asked for a replacement drink of a different kind and mentioned that the original should not be charged given the circumstances, management ultimately refused to comp the botched drink, hiding behind a rigid no-refund policy. This is frankly absurd and not in line with the standard operations of an establishment, especially one facing poor customer satisfaction. Things got dangerously worse for another friend who ordered a dish containing what seemed to be imitation lobster. It tasted funny and had a weird, overly chewy texture from the first bite. There are serious concerns here regarding deliberate ingredient sourcing decisions and cutting corners on quality. Whatever contributed to the glaring food handling and sourcing issues of that meal ultimately made my friend severely ill to the point that he was throwing up later that night. The rest of the food was just as bad. I ordered the chicken parm, and it blows my mind how a kitchen can completely miss the mark on such a classic dish. It was honestly devoid of flavor, and I had to request salt, pepper, and pepper flakes just to give the dish some semblance of taste. To top it off, no pun intended, the parmesan sprinkled on top wasn't even real cheese, as it closely resembled the cheap Kraft grated parm from a plastic bottle. When you combine questionable sourcing and preparation issues that seemed to cause actual physical illness, a kitchen that fails at basic dishes, and an owner whose strict policy is apparently to nickel-and-dime customers instead of making things right, it speaks volumes. Management clearly prioritizes pure profit over basic hospitality and customer health. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. Anthony's prices itself and portrays an upscale experience with stellar food quality. However, it is quite the opposite. I've had better quality and taste at Applebee's, which is horrible. I expected what they present.
