$37 for a burnt crabcake sandwich, a palm-sized amount of aligator meat, and an ok rockfish sandwich. Over salted, overpriced, and overcooked. This is the first review i have ever done on the first visit.... not happy with the product.... How is this "Award Winning"? I AM SO UPSET Rockfish sandwich was good

Crab cake sandwich and Maryland crab soup

So we're at an arts and crafts festival down here in Florida, and I see a food truck selling crab cakes and Maryland crab soup. I don't see that too often, and I love that soup, so I stop by and get some stuff. The truck itself looks visually appealing and the employee is nice enough. I order the number one, the Crab Cake Sandwich "Our Crab Cakes are the Best and we have the Awards to Prove It!" I also get the Maryland Crab Soup, "Made from Scratch with out Traditional Eastern Shore Recipe." The sandwich. It was ok. The amount of crab in the crab cake was a little disappointing considering the company is from Maryland. I've gotten more crab in a crab cake from St. Pete, FL for about the same amount of money. Odd. The sandwich was topping-less, but I would have been ok with that, let the crab cake shine, if it wasn't for the ok crab cake. It wasn't all breadcrumbs or anything, just not enough of what you wanted for the price. The soup. It certainly tasted like the traditional recipe. I've had this soup made for me in my childhood by a real New Englander. So the flavor was there, spot on. But the crab, again, was lacking. I can understand lacking crab, but not from a spot that has them plastered everywhere in their marketing. Overall, if you see this truck, stop by and consider them. If your options are truly limited at the festival or fair you're at, and this is the only thing catching your eye, I'd say go for it. If you have a plethora of options, maybe pass it up.

I had a Maryland style crab cake with saltines at their food truck while it was at an art fair in Altamonte Springs, FL. $13. Cake was deep fried and not broiled. So not too authentic. All stringy meat, no lump at all. Greasy and carnival style. They said it was award winning. Not sure who gave the award. Award was not on display so I'm skeptical. Maybe the award was for "best deep fried crab cake off a truck in a remote location ". Also, the damn tire on the truck was shredded. See pic. Safety first Laughing Crab. Update...after posing my accurate review I received a private message from the owner of this company, Lori J Hahn Maslin. She tried to defend her product explaining "that's how they do it at the Eastern Shore" and "we use lump meat, not super lump meat." I did remind her there are 18 "1-star" reviews, all very similar to mine. She then went on to say that people just can't write untrue things online. And then asked me how I would like to "proceed from here." Not sure what that means. Perhaps some sort of liable threat from this lawyer/food truck operator.

Normally, I read reviews before trying new places but I didn't this time... I wished I did. We have food trucks come to our town every 1st Friday of the month. We don't go very often because it's not really a money saver so we do it for fun every once in a while. There were about 10-15 food trucks and this Laughing Crab food truck looked pretty flashy and I figured if they can spend the extra money to make the truck so fancy, they must be making good money=good business. Anyway, we ordered 2 crab cake sandwiches, 1 crab won ton, 1 fish and chips, 1 side of fries, 2 waters, 1 Gatorade, and 2 cans of Coke. Then there's tax and THEN 8% surcharge for using your credit card. As mentioned previously, food trucks are not money savers these days. Fine. If the food was worth it, I'm good. Crab cake sandwich: served on a cold sesame bun. That's it. I think it's just visually lacking. I like some color in my food. At least toast the bun. For $14, it just seemed disappointing. It was seasoned and not bad on the fillers but I've had crab cakes with more meat for same amount of money. The crab wonton was mostly dough. They used a small scooper to put the crab mixture in, about the size of a hush puppy and the dough is 6 inches in diameter. Any seasoning was in the crab mixture. The rest of the dough was just dough...very oily dough. There was a small pocket of oil in the corner that popped open while my son bit into it...rather unpleasant. Is Chinese duck sauce a normal condiment that goes with the crab wonton? But at least it gave some extra taste to the dough. I was told that the fish and chips were good. The side of fries was still in the shape of the fryer basket...super oily. Nothing great. Overall, we were not impressed and won't be returning to that food truck. I'd rather go to our local seafood restaurant and get more seafood for our hard earned money. Oh, here's a tip about food service: Don't bicker in front of your customers; it's unprofessional and sends a bad impression.

I should have looked up a review before I ordered something from here. I ordered the coconut shrimp. Nothing out of this world at all. My frozen coconut shrimp from Aldi is better than this and way cheaper. They even give u some cheap packet of Chinese sweet chili sauce. This is not good. Nope. Bbye!

Only because you have to give them a star to write a rating did they get a star. The truck is parked at the Annapolis Wine Festival and the 2 guys on the truck need to seek employment away from the public. The guy on the register yelled at my friend saying "I told you we don't have any. We just had a whole conversation about this." Ahhhh.... my friend has never been to his truck or seen this guy. The guy continues to snap and yell and people and when people started to comment about it he just said that when you deal with 175 people in an hour this is what you get.... Uhh Ok... Good food, bad service.

I encountered the Laughing Crab food truck at the tiny homes festival in Orlando today. I was sucked in by the idea of proper East Coast seafood. I am on the keto diet. So, even though I would have like to have crab cakes they were in an option for me, as they usually are not. I ordered steamed shrimp because I was assured by the guys in the kitchen that it was just steamed shrimp with seasoning. The menu says I was ordering a 1/2 pound of large steamed shrimp with seasoning on it. I got a quarter pound of medium shrimp, mostly raw with seasonings dumped on it. The shrimp was completely in shell, and totally gray. I ended up wrapping it up unm the paper it came on and bringing it home and sauteing it myself. I would have had better if I'd just bought shrimp at the seafood market. What a waste of $12.96

I can honestly say Laughing Crab was one of the worst crab cakes I've ever had. Originally hailing from Maryland, I was excited walking around the Uptown Arts Festival in Altamonte Springs to see a food trailer advertising authentic Maryland crab cakes based out of Havre de Grace. The stand, going by the name of Laughing Crab, claimed their crab cake was "award winning," and had received over 24 awards. I would really like to know who gave the stand these awards if they were even real, and what crab cake they tried. With no one in line, I approached the register to place my order. I didn't receive a greeting or a "what would you like to eat," but as service isn't generally a staple of fair food carts, I shrugged it off as being par for the course. I ordered the crab cake sandwich, was told my total of $12, and given back my change. Around 8 minutes later my order was called and I returned to retrieve my food. At first glance the crab cake looked okay, and well fried, although the topping-less sesame bun didn't do anything to wow me over, but after the first bite, that initial impression quickly changed. The crab cake was practically all filler. Full of breadcrumbs and diced pepper (first crab cake I've ever had from Maryland with peppers inside), you could barely taste the little crab there was in the cake. In addition, the crab you could taste didn't taste the least bit fresh, and instead, tasted like it was spoiling. Finally, the crab cake was missing the taste of the most essential ingredient to a Maryland style crab cake, the Old Bay. While it may have been present in the dish, it was overwhelmed and washed out by the excess of pepper. Shortly after eating the crab cake, I began to feel slightly nauseous, and was burping it up for an hour or so later. Needless to say, I will never eat Laughing Crab again if I see it at another fair in the future, and I urge anyone who is considering eating here to think twice, and look at other vendors before placing an order.

We had the short rib pierogis, spinach salad, and crab cakes. The ambience was nice and the service was decent. The menu, particularly the entrees, seemed a little pricey for the area but the food we had was all good. Havre De Grace is a small waterfront town, so I have to say that considering the context and location, our dinner was really quite good and exceeded my expectations. If you're in town, it's a nice place to come for wine and an elevated dinner.

A cozy little restaurant that serves up delightfully delicious food in a decidedly casual setting. And in Havre de Grace, The Vineyard Wine Bar fills this niche with a subtle sense of style. As the name suggests, wine has played a significant role in Vineyard's obvious success. So much so, in fact, that not only does the restaurant sport a superb compendium of vintages by the glass and bottle, its lunch and dinner menus are also divided into categories - Light Bodied, Medium Bodied, Full Bodied - that correspond to specific types of wines. Yes, wine is definitely the name of the game... But don't let that fool you. The kitchen also has a great deal to say... and all of it good. The food here is excellent in every respect, as is the service. If I lived in HdG, I have absolutely no doubt that I would be tempted to dine here every day of the week. The Vineyard is everything a great bistro should be - and then some. But I begin to digress... As you have undoubtedly surmised from the above remarks, our dinner here was an extraordinarily satisfying experience. My dining partner and I began by sharing the Bruschetta Trio. Bruschetta is an Italian appetizer that begins with grilled bread topped with garlic and olive oil and then adds a variety of toppings. In this case, the finishing touches consisted of a luscious garlic spread, sundried tomato and basil pestos, melted mozzarella, and house marinated tomatoes with a balsamic glaze. While most incarnations of bruschetta may be consumed manually, Vineyard's substantially succulent variations on the theme (as you will note from the photograph above) demanded the ministrations of both knife & fork and were well worth the effort... Incredibly and unforgettably delicious. As we moved on to what would be considered the entrée or main course, options were numerous and varied... from Cornish Game Hen to Crispy Skin Duck... Venison to Dakota Steak... Lamb Vindaloo to Pesto Bucatini... ... On this particular evening, however, matters piscatorial appeared to take precedence. My dining partner was absolutely ecstatic with her Tuna Bites. Which is precisely what they were... diminutive squares of blackened tuna luxuriating in a Creole remoulade (a creamy, mayonnaise-based sauce originating in France). A definite "wow" factor at work here. On the other hand, my Mango Glazed Salmon was equally up to the mark... First of all, it was wild caught, which I much prefer (with rare exception) to the farmed variety. Secondly, as with most species of fish, salmon tends to be prone to both over and under cooking. Here, however, it was perfectly prepared - cooked through but still moist and succulent at the core - superbly complemented by a slightly smokey red pepper coulis (a smooth sauce made from puréed and strained fruits or vegetables), and companioned by lemon & herb risotto and roasted asparagus spears. On to the wine... With regard to both taste and texture, tuna and salmon are certainly among finny fare's heartiest representatives. Thus, despite the oft-quoted dictum, "Red wine with meat, white wine with fish," and the gentle urgings of our server in that direction, I have always found that salmon and pinot noir are - somewhat akin to lamb and red Bordeaux - a match made in heaven. And, in this instance, the 2022 Lundeen Mon Père Pinot Noir from Oregon's Willamette Valley proved to be a perfect match for my companion's blackened tuna bites as well. Dessert was a special treat. Naturally, many of the usual familiar sweet endings were present and accounted for. And, given the superior quality of the cuisine thus far, I had no doubt whatsoever that they would have acquitted themselves with suitable aplomb. For some reason, however, my dining companion and I were both drawn to the Crème Brûlée Cheesecake (pictured), which we decided to share... and, which, as it turned out, proved to be one of the high points of our evening. This was an intriguing amalgam indeed: The sweetness of taste being more influenced by the former; the firmness of texture by the latter. It is - if you will pardon the seemingly psychological digression - what we might consider a type of "gastronomic Gestalt," in which the whole is greater than the mere sum of its parts. In other words, the components of Crème Brûlée and Cheesecake have been combined... and from this fascinating combination there has emerged a new dessert that is even more desirable than the components have been individually. Well... call it what you will. I just know that it was so incredibly delicious that I would return at a moment's notice just to indulge my taste buds once again.

Yesterday, my friend and I took a bike ride around town, and then stopped in for an appetizer and a beverage. It was about 2:30 on the afternoon on a Friday, yet there was a nice gathering of folks enjoying themselves. We were promptly served, and left alone while we browsed the menu. My friend ordered the blackened ahi tuna starter, which she proclaimed bright with flavor and prepared exactly as requested (extra rare). I chose the cream of crab soup, which might be the best I've ever eaten, full of huge lumps of crab meat, delicately flavored with Old Bay, but not too salty. I would've preferred it a tad thinner, but it was not too thick to enjoy. Since I love meatballs, I also ordered the Margherita meatballs, and they were delicious! Three medium sized meatballs, tasting like your Italian Nonna made them, with a rich Sunday sauce and a sprinkling of parmesan. Yum yum yum. My friend and I also decided to splurge on a plate of onion rings, neither of us having had them for a long while. They came out overdone (or left under a lamp too long) and were burned around the edges. One bite and yuck. No worries, our bartender said she'd get them to make us another plate. The second plate came out looking perfectly, and we enjoyed a few, however, they were rather bland and lacked some flavor. Nonetheless, our experience was delightful and our dissatisfaction with the onion rings was not enough to take off a star from my rating. Havre de Grace is a charming small town at the base of the Susquehanna River where it meets the Chesapeake Bay. Come visit, browse the cute shops, and stop in Coakley's for some delicious food, expert cocktails and local energy.
