Laughing Planet: Grilled veggie quesadilla with gluten-free tortilla
    Harold M.

This is always a solid neighborhood place to eat in a healthy way around Gabriel Park area. Clean and comfortable space, friendly workers. Some bench outside as well for warmer days. Really good place for vegan, paleo, and gluten-free options. Had the grilled veggies quesadilla with gluten-free tortilla. Absolutely wonderful! Friends ordered the Thai burrito - delicious but needed more peanut sauce.

    Brown guac, yucky

Paid 50+ dollars for three smalls meals. Got home to find disgusting brown guacamole. The person in the kitchen should be fired. I will not eat here again.

Walking inside - kinda dark. Better to sit by the windows up front

My local Laughing Planet, which I probably head to like once a week, due to their nice variety of somewhat, or should we say semi-? healthy options. Hey it beats Taco Bell. The associates at the counter are always great - friendly, patient and helpful, whether you're eating in or taking out. Good selection of beers and ciders on tap, and there's a very urban-ish (concrete) patio out back. Food is reliably good - I always get the Thai Bowl -- though I will say the ambience here is less than ideal. It feels like a cave... which makes me want to deduct another star. But I won't. Also, food is pricy for what you get, but I don't mind paying for (mostly) freshness and I'm glad it's close by.

    $15 Cowboy Chicken Salad

Value for what you get is nil. The food tastes good but it's so expensive for what you actually get. The latest "special" Lebanese bowl total rip off. Asked for chicken which is maybe 5 bite size pieces. Maybe 1/2 cup, if that? Asked for more lettuce greens instead of rice, did not get it. My kids like the burritos here but it pains me to try to get anything for myself because $15 for a tiny bowl of something with no extras is crazy! Oh and it's worse on a Friday nite or busy nights- the busier they are, the smaller the portions like they're trying to ration the food. Not kidding. The owners must be making a giant profit on the overpriced adult food while our kids eat! Skip this place and get your kids burritos elsewhere if you're planning to eat there too.

We have been eating food from Laughing Planet for a long time. We like their healthy choices and flexible meals that you can add or subtract ingredients to/from at will. They are very accomodating. Everything tastes great. Today we nabbed lunch - I added mushrooms and extra cheese to their BBQ chicken quesadilla and added some guac and sour cream on the side. The kid got a ginormous comfort bowl with tofu, cauliflower, rice, beans, avocado, cheese, olives, cilantro, pico de gallo and who knows what else with chips and salsa and a PB&J dairy free smoothie. We also got a salted chocolate chunk cookie. I think the cookies are vegan but I am not sure. Everything was tasty and delicious. Maybe a little expensive but so is everywhere else right? They are great for kid's meals ( mine has been eating guac and tofu and rice there since babyhood) and if you eat in they have fun dinosaur decor.

    Korean BBQ bowl

My husband and I were looking for a healthy and filling lunch option while sightseeing in Portland. Laughing Planet fit the bill with gluten free & paleo options. We both chose the Korean BBQ bowl with beef & it was delicious! The broccoli was cooked just right- crisp-tender- and the beef was tender & tasty. I enjoyed the quick pickled cucumbers but my husband opted out of them. We shared chips & salsa while we waited & as a south Texan used to Tex Mex, I was pleasantly surprised by the perfectly spicy salsa. The service was quick & our food came out quickly too. Definitely give them a try!

    Harvest bowl! Sooooo delicious!!@

I've eaten here 5 times and this is my take: The peeps that work here - 5 stars so friendly! Chicken Quesadilla - 3 stars Veggie Quesadilla - 3 stars Corn chips & Dip - 2 star Pot roast special- Good but a bit too salty & not enough meat - 3 stars (three times now my photo of this won't post!) Vegan Harvest Bowl - 5 stars Green Dream Smoothie - Very SPICY 1 star Last health score 100% - 5 stars! Vegan cheese is an option and tempeh and tofu take the place of the meat. I haven't had their tofu yet, but the tempeh is awesome! You will not be hungry after you finish. Please see my menu photos, but the priced have increased in just months. For instance, the harvest bowl was $10, then $11.75 and now $12.75.

The food is good, but the constant price increases are unjustifiable. $15.50 for a bowl that was $10 six months ago. I stopped going there.

The menu has 9 menu options of pizzas but they are flexible in creating a Pizza to your liking. We ordered three pizzas, The classic spicy, The Peachzza and the Subterranean . Each had great flavor, all are 16 inch, crust is nice and crispy, even with so many different toppings, cheese and meat options we did not see much moisture or grease runoff which is very much appreciated. These are some of the great findings during our first visit. The Spicy Classic, we added pepperoni and Sausage, it also includes Calabrian chiles, tomato sauce, mozzarella, ricotta and parmesan cheese. The Peachzza has sliced peaches, jalapeños, basil, mascarpone, mozzarella. Cheese. The Subterranean was loaded, roasted cremini mushrooms, thyme, fresh mozzarella, pecorino, mozzarella and breadcrumbs we added bacon, this pizza was very filling. They have salad options and a few wine, beer and cider options. I had a King cola from Bone yard. This is a must try pizza restaurant, we will be visiting again, they are a pick up or dine in only business.

Despite the crowd, the service was excellent from start to finish and the food came out timely and hot. We ordered: * Tomato Basil Bisque Au Gratin -- $10.90 (outstanding) * Dungeness Crab & Spinach Risotto -- $48.00 (fresh, rich, and easily the highlight of the meal) * Maine Sea Scallop Cavatappi -- $42.00 * Cajun Calamari -- $14.90 * Tanqueray Dirty Gin Martini -- $13.00 * Key Lime Pie -- $9.00 * Two fountain sodas -- $7.00 The food across the board tasted fresh and well prepared. The tomato basil soup was incredible -- creamy, balanced, and comforting -- and the Dungeness crab with risotto was the standout dish of the night. The calamari (and okra) were just okay -- not bad, just nothing memorable compared to the rest. The only real knock was the cocktails. My dirty gin martini came in a very small glass, only filled about ¾ full, and the quality just didn't match the kitchen. For a seafood place doing everything else right, that was surprising. Total bill before tip: $144.80 Overall though, great neighborhood spot with excellent service and strong seafood. I'd definitely return and look forward to trying more dishes -- next time I might skip the cocktail and stick to wine or beer.
