Compact, cozy but reliably good breakfast spot in Multnomah Village. They serve legit Stumptown coffee, and the servers are beyond helpful. Excellent selection of benedicts, scrambles and even salads and sandwiches, if you're looking for lunch. My Greek scramble was perfect with loads of spinach, feta and tomatoes. A quiet spot- stopped in Sunday morning about 9- we were the only ones in the place. I had an omelette with spinach, daughter had French toast, hubs had a ham and cheese omelette. The food was good- very few strands of spinach in my omelette, and portions were very small. I do not like the huge platters some places serve, but these portions were quite small. This cafe in Multnomah Village seems to be owned/run by a Persian family. We visited on a Sunday morning. They have Stumptown coffee so the coffee is solid. Our waitress was on point! She remembered customers and their coffee preferences. That's so rare nowadays. I had a very delicious eggs benedict and asked for my hollandaise on the side because I've encountered more hollandaises that I haven't like than ones I have, but this one was very good! I used it all. We'll have to come back but later in the day so I can order one of the specials. I think I made a mistake ordering the Caprese panini instead of breakfast which seems to be their specialty. The mozzarella was so thin that it provided no flavor. The basil pesto was overpowering, and I found no evidence of any fresh basil on the sandwich. For what I received, it was incredibly expensive. A very disappointing experience. read more

This trip was fast, latte's and avocado toast for 2. $35 after tip I was served my latte in a teacup, I don't need a big gulp size, but this was too petite for me. My toast was so underwhelming. The avocado is a spread, Disappointed. Tomato's on top was extra? No lime or salt or something tasty. No garnish to balance the lonely single slice of bread on the dinner size plate. What they did add without labeling on the menu or warning during placing my order is an egg wash on all the breads. Gluten free and regular bread both had it. *Most disappointing was its only 1 slice of bread cut 3/8" thick. This underwhelming experience will prevent me from going back. read more

I have been wanting to give this place a try for a while and finally stopped in for a Sunday brunch. We were seated right away which was great! It was not too busy around 11:30am. Food: 1. Northwest scramble-7/10 the food came out within 5-8 mins which was extremely fast and I liked that. The portion size was perfect for me but might be a little small for someone else or if you are really hungry. The food was hot, fresh and had a good taste (I mean it is a fairly simply meal so pretty hard to mess it up, IMO). 2. Mimosa- nothing too special here 3. Latte- same, nothing stood out about it, average latte Overall 7/10, I would say the service and food was above average. Nothing stood out to me, good or bad, for me it was as just another brunch place in town and somewhere new to try. I will note that the menu is expansive and I would consider returning to have lunch at some point. Also one last note, the restaurant is very small in size and the tables are quiet close together so if you do not like being close to other customers then this isn't the place for you. read more

For a Sunday brunch I was so surprised this cozy spot was almost nearly empty. Upon first arrival the full staff was nice and the food was delicious . Make sure to grab a smoothie to really get that nice juice of nutrients that you maybe missing. They had a special of crab cakes and let me tell you it was perfect of savory and such with the hollandoise sauce. Service: A very unprofessional representation by the wait staff but primarily our waitress who was very busy, and way in over her head. Initially felt bad for her however, mistakes that were made, and she made plenty, were everyone elses fault. She also made a point of standing over us to make sure we gave her a tip. The place has got a good vibe, paintings hang on the wall, one of them is Van Gog'h's long table. Colours match what Van Gogh usually paints. The seating is comfortable.The hosts are really friendly and make u feel at home.I go there to have a quiet time. Nearby Lot C of the Multonomah's Arts place provides ample parking space. Very cute spot! Food and staff are lovely. Seating can be a bit tight and the prior owner must have been really tall because the counters are at least five feet high! Our server was extremely rude. I ordered, along with the rest of our party, but when 92 year old grandma ordered, she wanted an item on the kids menu because she can't eat much and didn't want the food to go to waste. The waiter said "mmm no that is for children, not the elderly folk." Everyone at the table looked at each other because we could not believe the tone of the waiter.. she then tried to order just one egg and French toast. She asked what the price was and the waiter made a "quirky" comment about some shelter around the corner if she's struggling with money. I was very upset it was Sunday afternoon and I still hadn't gotten to brunch (about 2pm) when Down to Earth Café was suggested based off Yelp searching benedicts. When I got there we were greeted instantly I wonder if it's a family business based off dynamics of employees. Our server was attentive and got our (somewhat complicated) order correct, he was soft spoken. This place is very interesting inside it is an intimate setting, tables close by to each other there is a coffee bar that takes up most space. We sat a table away from the front window, the partitioned coffee bar creating a little nook, it was comfortable - but we ordered a few plates for the table was a bit small, our fault. The food was amazing!! Both myself and person I went with have book marked "DTE" (down to Earth) and would like to return. We ordered avocado eggs benedict, he ordered the bacon benedict and we shared the waffle with fruit. I added cheese to my home fries, like I said everything was amazing and came out as ordered. Maybe the best scramble I have ever had (cowboy? without the avocado). Lots of tasty filling! A few nice spots outside. Toast was one slice cut in two with packets of jam. OJ tasted like frozen or not from concentrate which I expected compared to other "pressed" juices prices. But it had an off taste that frozen gets about a day, or not from concentrate in about a week or two. Potatoes were soft, odd yellow color but tasted ok, I ate about 1/2 of them. The food gets 5 stars in the Italian Eggs Benedict ($20) and 0 stars for the Steak Burrito ($15). Someone had illusions when they marked that steak price to $15. It was dry, had little to no steak, and pretty tasteless. The coffee gets 3 stars. We lucked out because we got a window seat. Our specific ambiance was 5 stars but overall average for the restaurant would be closer to 3.5. The service was ok, above average. So, there you have it. 3.5 stars, with one dish very out of whack and prices too high for what is offered that it deserves a little more penalty. read more
