It was pretty busy today, You could tell employees in the back were trying hard to get food out. Beach, Island and Blue Bliss were my first choices, but all were out. So we got the Tropical and Nutty Bowl with Mangosteen. Thank god we requested them without honey, they normally come with honey on top. They were already so super sweet even without the honey! Both the granola and acai had a ton of sugar in them. I was told the only sugar was from the fruit, but that was not true. I have had unsweetened and low sugar granola, this one was neither. I have had pure acai, and it isn't naturally sweet. I would have been OK with sweet granola if the acai wasn't made to be so sweet. But if they add sugar to the acai, then get no sugar granola. Bottom line is they can't both be sweet or it no longer is a healthy meal. I miss the acai bowls at Costco by the Tattooed Chef. I may go back to try the smoothies or the panini's, I am not sure. I tried Vitality Bowls for the first time yesterday. When I walked in they said they were closed because their system was down but then someone walked in behind me to pickup her online order. I then asked if I could order online and with hesitation he said yes. He made it feel like I was inconveniencing them by doing that but I wanted to try anyways and had driven from Oregon City. While I waited they turned away 3 other groups saying the system was down and not even mentioning that they could order online still. I would be very frustrated as a business owner if I knew my employees were simply turning away business without giving them the option to order online. The girl working front of house today was fantastic! I ordered online through a third party and went in to pick up my order. It was clear that they had just gotten a sudden lunch rush. The girl (I wish I had gotten her name but I had a lot on my mind at the time) was very kind and let each guest know that their order was being worked on. She also took a few in store orders while I was there and any moments she had in between, she would check with the back, seeming to help expo the orders, speeding up our wait times. I got the Dragon Bowl and it was super tasty and very filling. Would definitely get it again. Pro tip: They have samples so ask what they have that day. I got my bowl to go, but they do have a nice dining area with tables and some comfy chairs (next to a fireplace). The only reason I'm taking off a star is because of the price. When we walked in the front door, the store smelled very strongly of some perfumey disinfectant/cleaner. The food was fine. I get that places are short staffed.
