    Torn Pillow Case
    Emily Q.

BUYER BEWARE! I started using laundry butler a few years ago to offload my personal workload. After reading the mixed reviews, I decided to only use them for towels and linens as I was not willing to have them lose or ruin my personal clothing, as other reviewers testified. Over the last few years they lost my RH bath rug, tore my RH duvet, and also tore 1 towel and 2 pillowcases. After each event I notified them and they gave me a store credit of $25. I accepted that they were going to tear things but as long as they offered a compensation I was willing to take the risk. Mind you, $25 will not replace these items as RH and Cozy Earth products are at least triple this reimbursement. More recently I was told that they changed their policy and that I needed to notify them within 24 hours if an item was damaged or missing. This would mean that I needed to unfold all of my towels and sheets to look for damaged items....defeating the purpose of having my laundry outsourced. Last month, another pillowcase came back torn (mind you none of the tears are at a seam, they are in the middle of the item). All of the tears look identical and must be catching on a machine as they're pulled out of the washer or dryer. I let them know about the pillow case and they asked that I send it in for repair, to which I did. I actually sent them in 2 pillow cases they had torn. 3 weeks later they had not returned my pillowcases. I called customer service and they said they'd get back to me ASAP. Another week went by...nothing. I finally reached Tyler yesterday and he told me that they did not cause the tears and would no longer be issuing me credits. I told them that I would no longer be using them because of this as they consistently ruin items. I asked them to refund my credit card, to which Tyler replied he would not. He could only offer a credit with Laundry Butler. This does me no good if I am no longer using them. I asked them to return my items and Tyler has gone radio silent. BUYER BEWARE! If you'd like a business lesson in what NOT to do in customer service, Laundry Butler is your case study.

Lost our clothes. Gave us someone else's clothes and aren't responsive in answering their phone.

I honestly thought he was the owner because of how much care he puts into the place. He took the time to guide me and teach me how to use the machines, which made the whole experience so easy. They also have an amazing variety of machine sizes including 2, 3, 6, and 8 loaders, which is perfect for comforters, bulky bedding, and all the bigger household items you cannot easily wash at home. Such a great experience all around.

It's just such a shame that the technology seems to have been designed by someone who genuinely dislikes the human race. If you have a spare hour and a burning desire to donate your hard-earned money to a digital abyss, you are going to LOVE it here. It's less of a laundromat and more of a high-stakes escape room where the prize is simply being allowed to wash your socks. A FEW "CHARMING" QUIRKS: * THE MAGIC VANISHING ACT: I paid $39 for a card, and the machine sweetly told me to "collect" it. Silly me, I thought that meant it was ready to use! It turns out the card is as empty as the customer service promises. * THE WALL OF LITERATURE: Unless you plan on spending your afternoon studying the "Wall of Text," which is basically a manifesto on how to navigate their hostile interface, you'll never guess that you have to take the card out of one slot and shove it into another just to find the money you already paid. * THE SILENT TREATMENT: I spent 20 minutes pressing the "Help" button, which is a lovely decorative touch, really, and calling a support line that I'm convinced leads directly to a disconnected payphone in 1994. I ended up paying an extra $25 just to escape with clean clothes, essentially gifting my first $40 to the universe, or the next lucky stranger. I even found a discarded card on the floor, a tragic little souvenir left by the last person who realized they'd been fleeced. It's such a quirky business model, you can't even get your $1 deposit back for the plastic! THE TAKEAWAY: It is truly impressive how a place can look so clean while its system feels so... predatory. If you're looking for a free wash, honestly, just stand near the kiosk and wait for the machine to rob the next unsuspecting visitor. I'm sure they'll leave their card behind in a fit of tears, too! A TINY SUGGESTION FOR MANAGEMENT: Perhaps you could update the screen to say, "Please collect your useless, unloaded card and put it in the next slot so we can finally give you what you paid for." Or, and I say this with so much love, you could join us in the 21st century and get a machine that actually functions. Good luck to everyone else! You're going to need it.
