Laundry is a casual American small-plates-focused restaurant that is located on the site of an actual old-time laundry facility. The clothes irons as decor and photographs nicely inform the guests of its previous life. More could have been done creatively to hone in on the namesake (How about moving that washing/press? machine near the loo from the back to the front? or lighting made out of copper wash tubs? yes, they exist. ) The food here is good. We ordered cures & cheese to start, and our small plates included pow pow, kale, hash, beef brisket and pork belly. While our hash missed the mark (was waaaay over-salted, and we could feed off a literal salt lick, no problem) the other plates were very nice. Standouts are the brisket and pork belly. Pow pow is also good. We asked for a suggestion for our child, and our server suggested "mac and cheese." We normally do not order off a "kids' menu" and we were mildly amused to see Kraft Macaroni and Cheese from the box (in some parts of North America this is called "Kraft Dinner") served in a bowl. I thought this was a joke. The shoestring potatoes on the side and fruit were a mildly redemptive addition to the supermarket boxed dinner served to our kid. Drinks were good. Desserts were nowhere near the quality of the star offerings-- the small and large plates.The focus here are the small plates. For those alone, you should try Laundry. We realize this is a casual resto, and we appreciated the incredibly friendly staff and vibe offered here. Just a few food tweaks and Laundry will earn a couple more stars from this reviewer. read more

Ridiculously great! From the welcome, to Celeste's service, to the food, to the pricing, this is a 5 star restaurant. As you see from other reviewes, the servings are designed to be shared plates. We stuck to the concept and we loved everything Celeste helped us choose. We started with the the local harvest salad, moved on the the Pow Pow (fried shrimp with pickled ginger and powdered sesame on the side -- use them both!), to fried artichoke hearts with aioli, the beef briquet (please help me!), then (crab) mac and cheese. We finished with the rhubarb cobbler. Stupidly good. Is that a phrase? It should be, because this dinner was stupidly good. read more

Just a good as Yelp has reported - same as several locals we met that recommended the Laundry. Older building with a lot of character inside - exposed brick and wood. It was indeed the local laundry for Steamboat years ago. We had several small plates and appetizers. The carpaccio is excellent and the shoestring fries are awesome - not like any fries I have had before. Get there early for happy hour - no reservations required for the bar so it fills up fast. Talk about living up to expectations. We were referred to this place from friends who had their rehearsal dinner here. They told us it was a "must try". They were right. It is a tapas/shared plate restaurant with a set of consistent items as well as a few items that change frequently based on local availability per our waiter. They do have kids menu items that aren't listed - FYI. We had the pow pow shrimp, which had a perfect amount of spice and was very good. The hash / Brussels were good and the goat cheese was a nice flavor add I haven't seen before. the brisket was nicely smoked on a piece of Italian bread with a mild cheese sauce and was great! The meatloaf was the only dish we were neutral on. The fried chicken was off the hook. And You have to make sure you get a bit of your favorite sauce with the slaw and a bite of chicken together to get the full effect. Finally...we tried the donut holes with white chocolate grenache sauce and almost ordered another to go...but realized it wouldn't have made it to the car! How cool is this space! It used to be an old laundromat which you can see from the pictures by the bathroom and the fixtures still in tact in the dining area. A+ for atmosphere. Our waiter was such a great help with ordering our tapas style dinner. He gave us some great recommendations based on our typical ordering habits and we loved everything we tried. Favorites included pimento cheese, hash, carpaccio (OMG) and pow pow (DOUBLE OMG). The pow pow came with kimchi so that's an automatic win in my book. Everything ignited our taste buds! Price is fair for the awesome dining experience. The small plates add up but the rate at which they come out allows for good conversation and your stomach to settle in between courses. We left feeling content even though it looked like a small amount of food initially. The place is fancy but not pretentious (I mean... come on, they used to wash out questionable stains from pants so can't be too chi chi), great service (even gave us recommendations for other restaurants downtown), and yum-worthy eats! read more

This place is a must if you are visiting Steamboat! The food is phenomenal and the waitstaff is top notch. Jade was our server and she gave great recommendations for courses. We then built our own tasting menu and she coursed our order accordingly. Everyone in our group wanted to lick their plates. Their specialty cocktails are just as fun as the food. We told her we were happy to wait 15 or 20 minutes to get a table outside since that's exactly why we wanted to eat at that restaurant. Last night, we went to Laundry to celebrate our 21st anniversary and we had a truly fantastic experience!  First off, we were met at the door and JJ knew who we were and really started our night off great by wishing us a happy anniversary and letting everyone at the bar know it was our special day. We sat at the bar for some cocktails during happy hour along with some appetizers. First, the drink, Lisa got their house Pinot Noir which was a great wine and I got an apple martini which was so not appletini-like it was awesome!  Not a sweet apple drink, but a wonderful martini with a sublime apple undertone. Drew is an awesome bartender and I could probably sit and talk with him over drinks for a long time. His picks for our appetizers were perfect. Kale Salad and Pow Pow Shrimp. Both were exceptional and flavorful and I'd highly recommend them! After our first round and appetizers, we moved on to our table which was an intimate and isolated table with the perfect atmosphere for our special day. For dinner, we kinda turned everything over to Luke to make our choices for us as we heard from a former employee, Jen, that it can make for an excellent evening. We're pretty open to everything, so this was going to be fun. Our only request was the Mac & Cheese with Blue Crab & Green Chilies, which was excellent and was part of our first course. He paired it with blistered shishito peppers which were as addictive as potato chips due in part to their smoked salt. The next course was one of their specials, lamb & beef meatballs. They were flavorful and tender and truly spectacular. The sauce was excellent and nit too overwhelming. Our next round of excellent cocktails were brought over by Drew, and they were perfect!  These were followed in short order by our next course which I was hesitant about when it was brought to the table.  Tempura Battered Artichoke Hearts with charred lemon. I was hesitant because I'm usually not a big artichoke fan, but damn was I way off the mark. These were awesome and the lemon squeezed over the top made a wonderful compliment to the smooth and perfectly cooked artichokes. At this point, we pretty much had to throw in the towel as we were getting pretty full and still wanted to go out for ice-cream. JJ & Luke surprised us with a special chocolate desert which was a wonderful cap to our truly awesome meal. We had a great dinner here. The server was very helpful and explained the dishes on the menu to us. We enjoyed the hash, pimento cheese, and two of their specialty cocktails that were delicious. One star removed due to the fact that the cauliflower dish we ordered was terrible. It was hard to even find the cauliflower and honestly just tasted like fried mush. This cuisine is Daniel's type of food much more than mine. But he LOVED it! He got a hash with Brussel sprouts and bacon - he said the bacon was the best he ever had. We also had a goat cheese spread - I can honestly tell you it was the best goat cheese I've tasted. Their mixed drinks are fun. Daniel ordered Devil's Whiskers - which the server actually lit on fire once he got to the table. Not like a cheesy bar trick, it was presented nicely. A beautiful designed restaurant too. This place is amazing. It 100% deserves the #1 spot on Yelp. We went to Table 79 as well and this place was better priced and so much yummier. We ordered the artichokes, bison carpaccio, eggplant special and salted caramel budino and all were fantastic though the salted caramel budino was probably my fave. Our waiter was fabulous. Fantastic happy hour - best shoestring fries - they are dog friendly on the patio that they share with Creekside. I wish there was a way to sit outside in the winter during covid - its a great patio adjacent to a creek and if you're lucky you'll get whiffs of fresh baked bread from the bakery across the creek. read more

Yup. Believe the hype. Restaurant are super hit and miss in the Boat, but this one is definitely a hit. Small plates can be a pain but ours were unpretentious and delicious. Highly recommend the beats, shrimp, and pork cheeks. The latter portion was small but good. Service was good. Ambiance was good (turn the lights down a little more tho to be great). The reviews hooked us. Over 1,300 reviewers agreeing upon a 4.8 rating can't be wrong, right? Wrong. The service was very good. Attentive and enthusiastic. That's about where the compliments end. When you offer only three large entrees on your menu, it would behoove you to do them well. This especially includes something as quintessential as steak. The Colorado cut was a cut below. I've eaten enough steak in my lifetime to send three cardiologists' families through college, and the beef was simply lifeless. Cooked to perfection, but lifeless. I can only surmise that this was due to the complete lack of seasoning and fat. In short, it was a cheap (read: USDA select or dog-food-grade) flank steak, with only an irony flavor to distinguish it as beef. Even a modicum of effort to season or marinate it might have saved the dish. My girlfriend and I both ordered it, being beef lovers, and neither of us saw fit to fight through a few of the wet, hammy bites. The warm potato salad was quite good. The salsa verde was blasé, and puréed to a lifeless, green paste. The shishito peppers that everyone's raving about? We try them nearly everywhere they're offered, and these were essentially wax food. A generous helping of togarashi could not save them, nor could the inexplicably thick, green yuzu ponzu that we ordered on the side in an attempt to defibrillate the flat-lining dish. Shishitos are a wonderful vessel for flavors. Garlic. Spice. Citrus. These peppers were betrayed. The artichoke hearts were good enough, although the batter didn't resemble any tempura I've ever seen. Tempura is a light, airy batter. This looked closer to Shake n' Bake, but again, I generally enjoyed them. The smoke n' thyme cocktail had a fair amount of acrid fruit pulp in the bottom. This cocktail should have been strained through a cheesecloth. The whiskey sour that my date ordered was as tasty as pure sour mix could be. Neither of us could detect the presence of whiskey. I'll finish on a positive note: the beef carpaccio was delectable--a brief reprieve from an otherwise befuddling culinary comedy of errors. It pains me to criticize restaurants because I truly am a fan of food. I've had the pleasure to eat everywhere from unsuspecting dives to Michelin-starred restaurants. I'm lucky that I can count my truly disappointing experiences on one hand. Laundry is among them. It hung us out to dry. read more

One of the beat all around meals and dining experiences in Colorado, ever. Began with them calling me after reserving because I had made a note that it was a birthday and they wanted to know how to help. I told them to bring out the pot de crème on the DL with a candle they supplied. Been to lots of eclectic cocktail and small plates joints, but everything here was superb. We got there during the end of happy hour and did some off that menu plus added on from the dinner menu. Best bao buns (pork cheek) and the Brussels sprout hash was just fantastic. Drinks were perfect, even the requests we made with their infused gins (I had a raspberry thyme gin gimlet). Our server was so on and attentive and helpful, and just cool. Laundry was a laundry. I just think that's amazing. This a tapas sort of place where each dish is designed to be shared. We recommend every plate we sampled. It was happy hour so we got the $4 pork belly taco...amazing! And we got the Tasso board complete with pickled veggies and some delightfully unusual condiments. We got the smoked trout and the Brussels sprouts hash recommended by another reviewer. Both dishes Yummy! The hash is very generous and filling while the trout is smallish. The trout comes with a toasted raisin bread that's a great compliment to the trout. We finished with two scoops of gelato. The chocolate chocolate chip was exceptional. read more
