Thank you spa week! if it wasn't for you lovely people, I would have never called and made an appointment. I just got gorgeous-ed by Michelle! I loved my hair cut, you would swear that she's known me for years and knows how my hair likes to be pampered, cut and blowed dry! When I walked in early, I was greeted by the owner, lauren and the receptionist/assistant Jen. I was told that Michelle will be right with me and would I like a drink. I got a bottle of water, Thanks so much! As I was waiting, I noticed that it was an extremely clean and nicely decorated place. You can get a mani/pedi; your hair cut and colored/styled; waxing/facials. Put a cot there and I believe I can live there! As I walked out, Michelle gave me a coupon for 30% off my next service and some samples of the shampoo and conditioner. All organic, as noted. However, at $50, I didn't mind spending that to get my hair cut, washed, and styled, but $85 is a little pricey, even with a glass of wine. I think it would have to be a bit of luxury that I'll save up for! :) My hair feels wonderful. Thank you, Michelle, Jen and Lauren for making my visit wonderful. read more

I went to Lauren's Salon a couple of times because I really liked the location (right next to King's Road and I live close by). My stylist did a great job but I felt like you can get much better service at other salons for the price. $90 seemed a bit steep for this place given the little luxuries that were absent from this salon. The professionalism was also seriously lacking. The employees were always talking about their personal lives to eachother and pampering themselves at the mirror. It's just not the comfortable, relaxing environment that I'm looking for. read more

*3.5 stars In search of new salon... I came across Lauren's Salon and Spa through Groupon Now. *Service: Friendly staff and owner. Lauren personally greets all her clients. I received a haircut and hair color through Victor. It was an average haircut--nothing to rave about; but I was very pleased with my hair color. Victor is an excellent colorist. My hair was 3 different shades of BLAH and Victor was able to repair into a single color. My hair looks healthy again. I'm just a tad peeved because I requested Michelle (based on her 5 star yelp reviews), but the owner told me it was her day off. Then during my appointment I hear the name Michelle called several times, turns out Michelle was indeed working. *Ambiance: Cute feminine furniture and decor. It's a small salon, so it can get really loud and unfortunately hear everybody's conversation. *Prices: Overpriced, REALLLLY overpriced for the service provided. Hair cut starts at $90 and hair color starts at $95. I don't know if they have different stylist levels, but it seems that is the start rate for all their stylists. I wouldn't mind splurging on a $90 haircut, but it would have amazing and life changing. I don't believe the salon provides the experience to justify its price. *TIPS: -First time clients, don't pay full price. The salon offers many specials through Yelp or Groupon. Went here with a Groupon. It was OK. I always tend to give stylists alot of freedom with my cut. I am usually underwhelmed. I have super thick, heavy hair and lots of it! If I go in for a cut, I expect it to be noticeable. I told Victor I wanted it thinned out and could lose some length but not too much. Well he did texturize and make my hair slightly lighter but left it the same length. Maybe its my fault and I should have been more clear with what I wanted. Overall an OK experience and I'm not sure what the regular prices are but I doubt its worth it to me. read more

What warm, personal, sweet and professional service! When I called Lauren's Salon Spa to make an appointment, Lauren herself called me back to talk with me about my specific needs and concerns in order to match me up with the right stylist. I was assigned to Michelle who met with me on Sunday at the pretty, clean, sparkly crystal-strewn salon. She listened carefully to what I wanted, was sensitive to my specific needs, offered her own suggestions, and together we agreed on what would be the best cut for me. Michelle was super friendly and ultra-talented! She gave me an awesome cut that I was thrilled with and shared lots of helpful hair and styling tips as she snipped and trimmed. I felt pretty, oh so pretty... Lauren's Salon Spa is one of the spas participating in Spa Week LA coming up in October. They were gracious enough to honor the $50 spa special price for the wash, color and blow-dry so make your appointment for a cut or "fall highlights" asap and take advantage of this beautiful lil spa with a sweetheart owner and amazing stylists! GO GET YOUR HAIR DONE BY VINCENT DEMARCO !!!! I went to Lauren's salon last weekend and got my hair cut by Vincent DeMarco for the first time. I absolutely loved it and I love Vincent. He takes his time and really listens to what you are asking for. I'm pretty easy going with my hair and Vincent showed me how to take care of it without having to put too much time into it. Also if you are looking for the Beverly Hills sexy blow outs Vincent will make you look amazing. My friend (who referred me to Vincent) has been going to get her hair blown out by Vincent for years and she always looks great. I am really glad I finally went. My first experience at Lauren's Salon was amazing. I'm extremely picky when it comes to my hair and I don't let many people touch it, but Melina, my stylist, is definitely one to trust. She sat me in the chair looked at my head and new exactly the sculpture she was about to create. A++ I couldn't be more happy! Bogart is out of this world. I've had the same graduated bob for four years and it's critical for it to be consistent due to my work. Bogi is worth every penny, I have never worked with such a detail oriented and skilled cutter. A good haircut has a whole new meaning now.... He was able to reduce my hair prep out of the shower from 15min to less than 5min because everything just fell into place (didn't need to flatiron aka hide wonky areas in the bob). I was referred to Lauren's Salon by a friend, he only said great things about Lauren's haircuts. Today was my third time visiting her for a haircut in the past few months. I've had trouble finding a new place to get a haircut ever since my past stylist left LA. Many places feel too stuffy or the person cutting my hair just doesn't seem to really care. Now that I've been going to Lauren's I've had several positive comments about my hair as its been growing-in. When I get a haircut, I want a great cut, a little relaxation and some friendly banter. Why do you ask am I giving Lauren's Salon Spa 5 stars? Simple...Bogi is awesome! I first came here during spa week a year ago and haven't been anywhere else since then. I initially wanted 'a change' after getting out of a relationship and called to make an appt for a color and cut. I left a message and Lauren, the spa owner, called me back to talk about what I was exactly looking for. That's when the magic happened. After she understood my needs, she recommended me to Bogi, whose specialty was color. It has been years since I did anything drastic to my hair so I was a bit hesitant, but Bogi was great! Before he did anything to my hair, he actually gave me a full on consultation about what I wanted, what I wanted it to look like, and how I like to style my hair. I've never gotten that much detailed service from a salon in a long time so I already knew that I was in good hands. Afterwards, Bogi explained each and every step he took when coloring my hair (ie what color works best for Asian skin, described my hair type and what it can and can't do, etc.). SOO DETAILED...and I'm all about details. After less than 2 hours, I left the salon looking like a million bucks! I wish I had taken a picture because I was pretty shocked to see how much bounce and shine my hair had after a color treatment. Needless to say I've been coming back ever since and always get compliments of how good my hair looks after Bogi gets a hold of my hair! It was worth every penny!! read more

I recently discovered Lauren's Salon Spa after my stylist joined their team. The place is cute, cozy and just the right size for a boutique size salon. The interior is modern yet warm and they know how to make you feel at ease from the moment you walk in. From the fragrant flowers at the front desk to the complimentary refreshments and warm lighting, you can just feel the tension abating. I am SO glad that my stylish Scott Rife (http://www.scottriffehairstylist.com/) moved there! I will not be going anywhere else. I have medium length hair for a guy that's pretty thick and it has these waves and curls that are pretty tricky for anyone who is not a pro to take on. Scott is amazing and always makes me look and feel 10 years younger by the time I leave. Scott has such a creative and innovative eye when it comes to my style that I can't say enough great things about him. I literally feel like a million bucks every time I walk out! Not to mention, I get endless compliments on my hair by both men and women for weeks after! Look for Renee for highlights. She is very good in achieving the highlights that I requested (extra fine light brown highlights). Renee is also very nice and assured me that if I realize that I don't like my highlights, I can come back and she will redo them for free. The owner, Lauren, is very nice, and welcomed me the moment I step in her salon. She also offered me great discounts for being a first time client. The only thing that I don't like about this salon is that they charged me for blow drying my hair. Other than that, their service is A+. read more

VICTOR is a star!!!!!! Best haircut and style I've ever gotten. I've never been the kind to spend more than $25 on a haircut because my hair is so easy and manageable! But this was TRULY worth it. When I left the salon, my flowy, voluminous, bouncy, layered, and perfectly styled hair looked like I was ready for the Oscars! I couldn't believe it. This was about a month ago and the style is still there and looks great. Love love love it. I went to Lauren's Salon with a Groupon that I spent $55 on for a $135 value hair cut and glaze. My hairstylist was Scott Riffe. This is a review that is a long-time coming; I went to this salon in 2012. It was an experience that has continued to frustrate me when I think back on it. My hair is very long and there is A LOT of it, the strands are fine but there are so many strands that it comes out as being very thick. My hair was very dry at the time, as I was trying to sort out how to take care of it in the Southern California climate (I was new to the area), and I was concerned about the dryness and asked Scott his opinion on how I could help it out. His first reaction was basically making fun of me for getting my hair to that state in the first place. Red flag #1. Then he told me he'd give me some recommendations of products to use to get some moisture back to my hair. I asked him to keep as much length as possible but for it to be cleaned up- there were many, many split ends- and I specifically said that I understood if he had to take a lot of length off due to the split ends, just to only take off what was necessary. He didn't bother with washing my hair, he had someone else do that. Then he dried it, and THEN he started cutting it. He made many references to how thick it was, and at one point suggested that he cut out the middle layer entirely to make it thinner. Red flag #2. Thankfully I had the sense to tell him that I like how thick my hair was and no thank you to cutting out an entire layer of hair. (I have since asked a trusted stylist his opinion on that matter and he said "cutting out a layer of hair is what stylists do when they don't know how to cut or style thick hair.") An hour went by with Scott simultaneously cutting here and there and drying my hair and his next client came in (also a new client) and all of the sudden everyone on the floor was giving him pressure to hurry up and finish my hair so that he could get to his next client (trying to do so subtly so as to not let me notice, but it wasn't so subtle). I understand that they need to keep people moving in and out and keep appointments on time, but it wasn't my fault that he was taking so long to do my hair. Red flag #3. I was rushed out of the chair to pay. I asked about his recommendations for products to use in my dry hair and he hurriedly pointed to some ridiculously high-priced shampoo behind the counter without explanation. No thank you. I hardly got a good bye. The glaze in the Groupon promotion wasn't even mentioned during my appointment. And when I got back to my apartment 15 minutes later, my hair looked identical to how it was before Scott touched it, and I was still finding split ends. No one I saw later that day even realized that I got a hair cut. Maybe other stylists at the salon are good. Maybe Scott is better at different types of hair. I hope he hasn't actually cut out a layer of some other unsuspecting client's hair though, and if so, my heart goes out to her. But all that to say, I felt unwelcome at the salon as I was just that girl with dry hair who was sitting in the chair for too long. I haven't been back and I never intend to. A $90 hair cut is ridiculous anyway, unless it's a life-changing hair cut, and that was hardly what I received. read more

This review is not the about the Salon or Lauren. It is about one of the stylists, Victor. I normally tip 20% for anything service related I get, from massages, to facials, to meals, 25% if it's great. For the first time in my life, I tipped almost 10%. Lauren and the girl at the front, I think her name is Marina, are wonderful, and the Salon is beautiful, but I had the worst hair experience ever. I waited 5 days before posting this, to see if the situation still bothered me, and well, it does. So here goes. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding 3 weeks from now so I wanted to prep my hair. My appointment was for 11am. I was taking advantage of the Spa Week special and getting my roots done, some highlights and a cut. At 10:45 I received a call that Victor was running late. He was coming back from Palm Springs and stuck in traffic. I live over 30 minutes away from the salon and was almost there, because I always try to arrive early. So I said, since I'm almost there, let's just figure it out when I get there. The girl spoke with Victor again to try to get an ETA, but it was sketchy. Could be 25-45 minutes. Lauren, the salon owner, came in and was super apologetic. She said, without me even prompting her, that of course she'll take an additional percentage off my bill. Now I'm pretty low maintenance, and realize sometimes things are out of our control. I couldn't really reschedule and Lauren assured me that Victor was the best person for my hair type and what I wanted, so I agreed to wait it out. Victor came in around 11:40. I didn't really get a genuine apology from him. He immediately started bitching about the rental car breaking down, AAA showing up, etc. etc. I'm a jovial, friendly person, and listened to him for a bit. Of course, that would all affect your mood, but now shake it off a bit and be professional. He sort of looked at me, ran his hands roughly through my hair and asked what we're doing today. I was very, very specific. I want to cover my roots, and add a few very subtle highlights. Very, very SUBTLE, not chunky, and NATURAL looking. And add a few more layers to my curly hair. I felt like he barely listened before going to fix the dye for the roots. He applied the dye, continuing with his grumpy attitude. I've had my roots done enough to know that he was not taking good care of me. He sort of brushed it on, paying no attention to where the hair ended and my skin began. He left tons of dye around my forehead, ears and neck. I thought, maybe this is a different type of dye that won't stain my skin. Normally my other stylist will take the color remover to get all the dye off my skin before leaving me there for 40 minutes. Not Victor. He just left me there, checking on me once in 40 minutes. After the assistant washed it all out, both of them had to spend several minutes scrubbing the dye off my face with the alcohol stuff. He said let me know if it hurts, but seriously, how else are you going to get these brown stains off my face? As of 5 days later, parts of my forehead were still red from the color removal being scrubbed 40 minutes after sitting on my face. Now come the highlights. Keep in mind, he still had a pissy attitude. He was actually on his phone talking with other clients while looking at my hair! He almost started putting more dye on before I kind of pulled my head away waiting for him to get off the phone. I reiterated, again, that I want very very subtle highlights, just barely lighter then my dark brown. I've had these before, so I know they're possible. He pissingly said "yes". So I trusted. Perhaps I put too much trust in him. I walked out at 2:30. My hair one big frizzy mess with highlights that did not look the way I had asked, (they were practically blonde, not subtle at all, and a little chunky), roots that didn't even match the rest of my hair color, and two salon clips in the back of my hair (the long silver kind that you usually use to hold up hair when you're cutting it) I had a meeting to go to at 3 and at this point did not have the time to say I was not satisfied. I was pissed. When I went to pay, he didn't even say he was sorry again. Just sort of put the bill in front of me. I only got one half-assed apology in the very beginning and that's it. Again, I've been in the service industry and I know that shit happens. But you can't take it out on your clients! For the first time in my life, I tipped less than 15%. I could not justify giving him any more than that for such poor service. He didn't really listen to me the way a hair stylist should and treated me as if he didn't care. Now, after trying to save money, I'm going to have to spend a ton more getting some color correction. I can't say anything about the other stylists there, but I would never ever suggest Victor. I would never think that one day I was going to write a review about my W O R S T salon experience ever!!! Recently moved to LA I was searching for a great hair stylist and I thought I almost found one. Today walking down the Beverly blvd I saw that little nice and cozy salon, walked in and talked to the owner - Lauren - was such a pleasant woman trying to squeeze me in a busy schedule one of her stylist (??!) - Bogart. I needed a partial highlight and have short thick hair, I don't know what he was thinking of when he took me. Quick fix for about one hour... So everything seemed to be ok at the beginning Bogart was playing a cool Beverly hills stylist and made me feel like I am in good professional hands. So dissappointed... Apparently he had another client coming in and he was trying to finish up with me as soon as it possible. Running around between me and her. He washed the color off my hair, put some kind of a conditioner to make my scalp burn. He put towel over my hair and asked how i am styling my hair and left me in a chair to BLOWDRY MY OWN HAIR. I guess all the nail ladies were shocked cause they started asking him whats up with a blow drying? He just said BLOW DRYING is NOT A PART of the COLOR SERVICE only if he cuts you this super dooper stylist is gonna blow dry your hair. WHAT DA???? First time (and I hope the last one) that shit happened to me. I literally was BLOW DRYING MY HAIR AT the SALON that's just crazy. I'm paying (125 dollars for the partial highlights) to someone to do my hair and the STYLIST MAKES ME BLOW DRY MY OWN HAIR. That trips me out. When I was walking to the front desk to pay, just for a minute thought of not leaving any tip for this dude. Russian lady who gave me a check was quite nice so I just left 15 bucks for him. The color was average no supermodel result as he promised. Lauren does a great job to bring a new clients in but the staff can not keep up! Don't go to BORGAT! Terrible service average results!! I've been to Lauren's Salon and Spa three times. First the good, Michelle is a great stylist. She really listens to her clients and cares about what she does. Plus she is fun to hang out with for an hour (or 3 like my last visit took). But the bad, the salon is built around bringing new customers in, so they post great coupons on citysearch all the time, but they don't honor them. I brought a coupon for a free haircut with any color service and after a full head of highlights and a cut they said they wouldn't take the coupon, because they forgot to put on the coupon it was for first time customers. So my $125 highlights with free cut ended up costing me $235. It was just bad business to make me pay for their mistake. read more

I made an appointment here because I had a groupon. I called to make an appointment and was told that the owner wants to personally talk to new clients in order to set them up with the right stylist. I thought that was cool until 3 days went by and I never got a call. I was almost going to write them off and just go to my regular guy. I forced myself to call back just because I already paid for the groupon. So I called back and the assistant that answered was very sweet and apologized for not returning my call. After a few hours, I finally receive a call, from the assistant NOT the owner, for an appointment. I arrive and was greeted by the owner, she seemed nice but seemed a little confused about redeeming the groupon. I forget my stylist's name but he did a pretty decent job. Dislikes: I hate the lack of professionalism in the salon. One of the other stylists was walking around boasting about a party and cursing. Then the owner comes over and has a full on conversation (how was your weekend, what did you do... etc) with my stylist. I just felt ignored and that I was a body that he was working on, not really someone that they felt they needed to impress. Being a new client and being that I live close to the area, I would expect a little more interaction and attention. I didn't expect to be fed grapes but I would think that being a groupon customer, I obviously was looking for a new salon. The highlights are ridiculously expensive. When I got to my car I noticed that I had color stains on my forehead near my hairline. Thanks! ugh! Like: The assistants were really nice. Even though I do like my hair, I just feel you can get better service and equally as good results at other salons. FOR BLONDES! DON'T GO HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR HAIR! I was in this salon 1 year ago. First, I didn't want to write review, but many people suggested me to do it. I went to this salon expecting a great service ( I heard good reviews and prices was ok for me). I was platinum blond and I needed JUST to dye my hair root. That time I was new to LA, but I hoped that salon is a good quality and there worked PROFESSIONAL hairstylist. I had appointment with MICHELLE. Thank you Michele for destroying my hair! She damaged my long platinum hair, because she put color over roots and waited for long time!! So unprofessional service! I had blond hair for 3 years, and in LA, in a good salon, this stupid woman destroyed them! Of course, I needed to come to them and ask for compensation. My hair still grows slowly from this damage... the worst experience ever... I bought a Groupon for Lauren's Salon Spa last year - $50 for $90. I thought it was a good way to try a new Salon in the Los Angeles Area, which I knew could be pricey. I came into the Salon last Fall for partial highlights. Trying out a new salon is an apprehensive experience for me because I never know how it's going to turn out - however, I was open to trying something new. I was seen by Michelle. She was a super nice and fun person. However, she wanted to go more conservative on the color, since I was a new client. After two and a half hours of treatment, I walked out with shiny hair and a nice blow-out, but the highlights were hardly noticeable. I also ended up paying $180 in addition to the Groupon ($230 total, for a base color and partial highlights which I assumed would both be included in the partial highlights price, and a blow-out); which meant that the services would have been close to $300 if I didn't have the Groupon. When I left the Salon, I didn't mind that I couldn't see my highlights too much since Michelle was a nice person, but I was surprised when I saw the total bill. A week later, I was getting a blow-out at DryBar in Brentwood, and the girl who did my hair kept saying she couldn't notice any of the highlights, and that I should go back and have it re-done especially since I paid so much. Given that I didn't want to sit through another 2 1/2 hours, I never called the salon and decided that I would not be returning for future hair appointments. I'm not sure what went wrong here, maybe it was the organic products that didn't work on my hair, or the color that Michelle used for the partial highlights was not a contrast from the base color. It really did look like a single process color of a slight red, a service I have paid for at other salons for $90. The only reason I am giving it a 3-star is that Michelle and Laura were both super nice. But I would rather go to a different salon and be able to see the results, especially for the price of a $200+ color job. read more

I don't generally post on yelp but I just saw that groupon is doing another special for this salon. I would say go with caution. I went in for a fairly simple side-swept bang, layered look and left with hair that I needed to pin back ALL THE TIME in order for it to look ok. I moved out here from NYC not too long ago and had to go back on my most recent visit to my salon to have them FIX the cut that I got from Lauren's salon. I guess the lesson learned-- you get what you pay for. read more

Update: My go-to stylist Michelle Blasi moved to B2V Salon. She was the reason I went to Lauren's, so I'm not sure what it's like now.

These were the words i spoke to Scott after sitting down for my return visit two weeks ago, "I have never had the same person cut my hair twice until today". I am petrified of having my hair cut, and I often despise the way it looks for at least a month after having it chopped. My first visit with Scott was beyond amazing, he took my needs into consideration and was able to cute (trim) the amount necessary for my hair to be healthy without making it look like i had a significant cut. I was so pleased with the results that I made another appointment! This time I was a little more lenient about what he could do, in terms of style and texture, etc. After my second visit I was able to leave extremely pleased with the results. I will be returning on a regular basis with full confidence that Scott will make my hair look great while still taking my hair-cut insecurities into consideration. I recently just started going to Michelle, and I am extremely happy with my decision. I was nervous at first to have a new hairdresser, but Michelle gave me and awesome cut and highlight. She used three different tones of blonde and the cut made my hair fall perfectly on my face. (the hair wash was like being at a salon--they literally give you a head massage) NO JOKE: When I walked out of the salon toward my car, I flipped my hair in the wind and a guy came up to me and complemented me....he then fixed some scratches on my car. Renee Dondanville has been cutting, styling, coloring and highlighting my hair for 3 years. I get compliments constantly. Before Renee did my hair I rarely got a comment. I'm older (50-something) and what I love most about my cut is that it is youthful. There's nothing like showing your age with an outdated matronly hair style! It's getting funny now, because not a week goes by that someone doesn't say something; even days when I've worked out and it's not looking so great. I had someone knock on my car window at Mother's Market parking lot asking me who cuts my hair. The deli counter gal at the market refers to me as "you're the one with the cute hair". A few weeks ago I was visiting afriends mom in a nursing home and one of the employees came up from behind to compliment my hair. Most recently, I came down an elevator and walked toward the exit. I felt someone hurrying behind me, only to stop and tell me that he really really liked my hair. After I said thank you very much he went on to say...no it's such a great style and looks beautiful from the back. Ok...maybe he was trying to hit on me, but seriously just when I think I want to change my style the compliments flow. So instead I'll part it on the other side. I'm a flight attendant and, well with all the hundreds of people I see in one day, I really hear it. My style, on the short side, is simple and easy to blow dry, and I love my color and highlights.
