I got desert here with my cousin. I was not impressed with any of the 3 things we tried. They came out very nicely presented but lacked fine taste and flavor for the price we paid. The decode and space it self was nice along with the service. Micha was great along with the rest of his staff. The service was impeccable. The Proportions were small and not ideal for sharing. I would probably not come back again.

Have had the pleasure of dining here twice. The first time was a Christmas Eve dinner a few years back. That did not get off to a great start since our reservation was not in the system and the house was packed. Thankfully the staff took care of us and found us a nice spot in the corner for our party of six. We returned for a mini vacation earlier this year and again dined at Lautrec. I will say one of our servers was pretty snooty this last time. If you've never been , you need to know it's a pre-fixed menu. All the produce is typically farm to table and locally sourced. And the preparations are totally unique and change often. I love this because it's stuff I wouldn't usually try. But this last time one of our guests had dietary restrictions and when we asked for a substitution on the shellfish, you would have thought we were asking for ketchup on the side of a steak or something (and even if we were, who the heck cares). Thankfully this uppety server was replaced and our new server was delightful. And the som was awesome, finding us a wine that we'd never had but chosen based on what we have liked in the past. The one anomalous server aside, service here is second to none. And the chef is just remarkable. It really is a dining experience. The fixed menu is as you would expect, not cheap, but wonderful for that special occasion with loved ones. If you are ever in Nemacolin and have a couple / few hours to splurge on some real decadence, you have to try Lautrec.

    Anniversary dessert!

We had great service and loved the wine pairing. The to go box of treats at the end of dinner was the ultimate hospitality. Thank your for a wonderful experience!

Before we retired, and when we lived in Pittsburgh, we used to come here 3 times a year and fell in love with it. The most special night of our trip was dining at Lautrec. We have eaten here dozens of times and every experience was made special. There is a server named Terry, who was always our favorite, and how special for us after a 7 year hiatus, to come back and have Terry as our server. He always makes the meal that much more special with his knowledge of the food and his professionalism. This visit provided a new experience with the "Leap of Faith" menu. What a clever idea and one we took advantage of. 7 courses based on items we chose we liked. I won't get into the details as I don't want to ruin the dining surprise for anyone considering it, but each course was special. My only tip is to order cheese as one of your items. The chef here is amazing and creative and the dining experience wonderful. There is a price tag on the experience, but YOLO.

It is true talent and art to create something as wonderful as the food at Lautrec. Chef Butterworth is absolutely incredible. We tried the 4 course prix fixe and were amazed at how quickly each course came out. The servings are not huge, but you are there to taste the art creativity behind the food and enjoy a special experience, not stuff your face. After we ordered they brought us a cucumber soup which is meant to clear your palate before tasting the main dishes. It had hints of bacon and oils in it and it was honestly probably my favorite part of the experience. It tasted so good! Next our first course was brought to us. I got salmon tartare. I liked how the chef mixed the salmon flavoring with avocado and cucumber pieces and the presentation was very nice. The second course was my least favorite. I got squash blossom tempura. It was stuffed with rabbit and ricotta but I tasted mostly ricotta. I wasn't expecting the serving to be huge but I finished it in 4 bites. Next I got Hokkaido scallops. As much as I'm embarrassed to say it, I had never tried scallops before. I love them, but now every other restaurant is going to have some serious competition in my opinion because I don't see how this meal could be beat. I especially liked the purple sauce served with the scallops. I'm not sure what it was, but it tasted incredible. The presentation on this meal was 10/10. For dessert I got the pancakes. The warm syrup and ice cream combo made this a very filling dessert. By the time I left the restaurant, I was so full and amazed at the art that Chef Butterworth puts into her cooking. You can tell nothing is rushed and nothing leaves the kitchen unless it is flawless. I definitely recommend Lautrec to anyone celebrating something or just looking for a romantic or intimate evening.

Five stars for the experience, four stars for the food. There is an emphasis on presentation, and since it's a tasting menu with some variation, you're going to encounter things that you like and things that you don't. The mushroom risotto dish was one of the finest things I've ever eaten. The dessert was some type of strawberry custard that I just couldn't tolerate, but I don't like strawberries. Other items were interesting, combinations and textures that I never encountered before - didn't always love the taste but had to admire the skill and thought in the creation. A definite recommend for a one-time experience. Would I return? Tough call. At this price point I want to love everything, and on that it fell short.

Reach for a Star! The expectation is that a restaurant with this reputation I would not be able to find anything to say that was negative. 7 course meal paired with wines - many of the artist food was fabulous but there were things that could have been better. The first course was stunning and service was wonderful. The pasta course was picturesque but sticky and had to much seasoning. The beef course was under seasoned and needed salt - but clearly in a place like Lautrec you don't ask for salt. The last course was a Cute novelty- but the cheese was over powering and the dish needed a second "mouse" sweet component. Now for the wines - many of the pairing really did not enhance the food. In fact the reds were to heavy to taste the delicate flavors. The Somalia looked frazzled and disheveled. His explanations made me wonder if actually tasted the food with the wines. The best part of the evening was the professional singer they hired to entertain the room. If only Lautrec would have had a better view for paying guest. For me once was enough.

Leap of faith dinner option (do it)

This was such a wonderful and unique dining experience, I am so glad to have enjoyed it! I had heard the rumblings that this was a place to hit up if you're in the area, but didn't think much about it because we've never been to Nemacolin or just "happen to be" in the area. Once we booked our stay at Nemacolin, booking the reservation to Lautrec was the second task on the list. The menu is a tasting style menu only, so don't think you'll be getting a menu full of choices here. The real star is the "leap of faith" dinner service. There's a little inkwell and pen on the table with a red envelope. If you choose to do that dinner, you open it up and there's a handful of pictures of food that you circle. Then the chef chooses a couple from your selections to make. But you don't know what the dishes are ahead of time. I LOVE this idea and was all for it. From start to finish, the dinner was wonderful. Every dish we enjoyed was super unique from a chilled corn gazpacho to a fresh tomato risotto. But the stars were a very interesting "ashtray dish" that was served in an ashtray and included a rolled french pastry that you dip into a powdered cheese. It was very different and had an interesting flavor profile I've never tasted before. The other dish that blew me away was a tart cherry dessert. Oh man, I ate mine and half my husbands. It had iced tart cherry on top of what I think was a frozen vanilla cream with matcha powder and pistachios. I want this in my life every day! To end the meal they wheel out a candy bar cart where you can choose whatever you want (and multiple items!). This includes their signature macaroons, which are melt in your mouth good. I also loved that there were a handful of courses and the last 3 were desserts. Love to end on a sweet note! The service was stellar and they even had live entertainment. And EXTRA bonus points for how over the top accommodating they are about being gluten free. Delicious gluten free scones, gluten free breadcrumbs and so on. They had a substitute for everything, so you never felt left out. I can't say enough about how special the experience was. I've never had one like it. It softens the blow of the check you get at the end of the evening. It was hands down the most expensive meal we've ever had. The tasting menu, as opposed to the leap of faith menu is only a $50 difference (individually). I'm still glad we did it, but just know that you most definitely will be dropping a ton of money here. Well worth it to experience at least once!

I feel so bad leaving this review because we usually LOVE Lautrec when Kristin Butterworth was the chef, but they recently made her the executive chef over all the restaurants and Lautrec has a new head chef. The menu has changed and we had dinner there under his new menu this past weekend. I'm giving the one star because the service as always was incredible! Everyone is so nice and very attentive. I'm giving the second star because they are kind enough to plan a meal for you even if you have food restrictions. I am gluten free, soy free, and lemon, lime, vinegar free. Kristin Butterworth always made an AMAZING 5 star, 5 course meal even with those restrictions, and we go out all the time and we know it can be done. Even Aqueous (the other high end restaurant at Nemacolin) did a fabulous job with these restrictions. But, the new chef at Lautrec had a very bland, very blah tasting meal pretty much from start to finish. The bread was fantastic, and the last course of wagyu was just meh, dry and not flavorful, and my husband's duck was decent, but the rest of the courses were actually really bad. Even my dessert was not even worth the calories to eat it. It was so bland and blah. I can't believe I'm even typing that and I feel bad, but i sent it back after only eating a couple bites. Some of it was too unpleasant. We frequent a lot of high end restaurants and have a palette for finer dining and this was not it! It's sad as Lautrec was one of our all-time favorites. I hope that he can find his footing and make some improvements. It was only his first week, but the meal was $578 and I would have rather eaten at any of the other restaurants or even room service. It was that bad. I hope things can improve soon. I'm rooting for him!!!! It was beautifully presented but the flavor was missing hardcore.

We had an incredible experience last night. From soup to nuts, the meal was incredible. Our server was super knowledgeable about each dish and she thoroughly explained each course with stating where each item was from and how the chef prepared it and why. Each bite was special especially when paired with the appropriate wine to follow. I'm a foodie and have dined in many fine dining restaurants around the globe. This Michelin star restaurant earned its spot 11 years in a row. You understand why after you've dined here. Absolutely worth the price for the foodie experience of a lifetime.

This 5 star restaurant was a little disappointing for its hype. You need reservations to get in and they are way behind. They dont fill the entire restaurant up so there will be a lot of empty seats. A majority of the food was great. It was served in a 7 course style. The menu changes frequently though, so this may not be the case for you. We sat next to another couple that was beyond rude and played old school hip hop on their phone and facetimed a majority of the night. The wait staff never talked about it. We got the $100 level wine flight. That was amazing. The beet salad was great, no complaints there - I didn't even know that I liked beets. The only complaint that I have is about the food was the Wagyu and the cheese with peach reserves (last course). The wagyu was charred on the outside and didn't have much flavor on the inside. It was almost like eating burnt meat. The cheese thing was the 7th course and I thought it would be a dessert. I was really looking forward to that dish but the cheese was strong and not really compatible with everything else I ate.

Excellent! Hands down must do at nemacolin! The chef's palate is on point! Did the leap of faith menu and it did not disappoint! The total progression of the meal was outstanding! Service was efficient and tasteful! I have been to other 5 star restaurants and some can be off putting with all the formality but they did it just right here! Make you feel comfortable from start to finish! All high end ingredients used! Must get reservations ahead of time! Pricey but worth it! Excellent job chef!

I had an unbelievable experience at Lautrec. Whole staff is top notch. Cocktail recommendation was spot on -- Foie Gros cocktail? It wouldn't have been my first choice but live bold -- get rewarded. My wife and I went with the new tasting menu -- Leap of Faith. Honestly, you should take the leap of faith... you will be rewarded. Five stars and we will be back soon.

Fantastic vibe in there as well, cool lighting (although something from up above kept falling). It's a highly acclaimed place for a reason. I got to try their beet soup (borscht), tea, potato pancake, and rice pudding dessert. The menu changes decently consistently I believe, and I did visit a little while ago, for notice. The food was very tasty. Huge potato pancake that was cooked perfectly with a nice topping of what I can only describe as vegan sour cream and some sort of very flavorful vegetables. I quite liked it, surprisingly tasty and creamy topping. Now the borscht, which I tend to be picky with, was just okay. The number one detractor for the borscht was the salt level. The food is just far, far too salty (the pancake was pretty salty too). Other than that, quite good. Love the side of rye. The dessert was very good. Surprisingly light. Came with a little caramelized baked fruit on top (apple/pear, something like that). Rice was reasonably creamy and very flavorful. So good! All in all, a nice spot for a nice dinner. Especially great for vegans. However, the food did taste too salty for my liking.
