I've been wanting to try this bakery for a while. I took my niece on a Sunday morning and there was a nice variety of fresh baked goods. We decided to taste a blueberry muffin and chocolate almond croissant. The croissant tasted of almond extract which is not my personal preference, and it did not puff up as much as I'd expect. The blueberry muffin was pretty standard and had a nice crumble topping. Parking is very easy and the staff is friendly. I'd like to come back and try a couple other options. read more

Lavish is a friendly, neighborhood, mom & pop style from-scratch baked goods shop. They have a wonderful variety of pastries and breads. They sell croissants, cinnamon roll, cookies, muffins, cake, caprese sandwiches, etc. I have their baked goods a couple of times. The first time around, I had a Mango cake mini loaf and the second time, a Pumpkin Marscarpone muffin. Both were super delicious. The muffin was soft with creamy filling and topped with pumpkin seeds. Every bite had a good pumpkin flavor taste. I talked to the owner/ manager, Hailey (I believe her name was), and she said that she and her husband wanted to open this shop to offer the patrons a delicious variety of from-scratch baked goods as there wasn't a bakery like that in the Vernon Hills area. They import ingredients from Italy for some of their baked goods and for others, they source it from reliable quality vendors. Fantastic lunch meal deal! It includes a sandwich, drink, and dessert. I got the Italian summer sandwich and the bread was delectable. It was perfectly soft but also chewy. I stopped in Lavish on a Friday morning on the recommendation of a friend. This small bakery is very cute and the employees are knowledgeable and friendly. I purchased a (thick) slice of banana bread, a croissant, two oatmeal cranberry cookies and a loaf of croissant sourdough bread. The banana bread was moist, dense and very flavorful. It did not contain pecans or walnuts, which I really like in banana bread, but still, very good. The cookies were also delicious. They were crispy and large. The croissant was absolutely fabulous, and I am a former French teacher who has eaten fresh croissants many times in Paris. There was a big selection of tasty looking items, but I will treat myself to some of those next week. read more

What an amazing bakery! Lavish Bakehouse feels elegant and classy the moment you walk in. I tried the salted chocolate chip cookie and it was incredible--perfect balance of crunchy and chewy. The almond pound cake was also amazing, not too sweet, dense, and super moist. The almond croissant was delicious with a nice, even layer of chocolate throughout. I cannot say enough about this bakery!! First of all, the charm and delightful customer service of the staff goes a long way for me!! The baker and owner Hailey, makes everything to perfection!!! We ordered custom engagement cookies for our son and his fiancee, and not only were they beautifully decorated, but they were scrumptiously delicious for our guests to devour!! Not a crumb was left!! I even ordered special GF cookies in addition to the engagement cookies, and honestly I've never had a more decadent GF cookie than these salted chocolate chip cookies!!!!
