I had a bad experience today. I called to ask what cakes they had in stock, and the person who answered the phone had no customer service etiquette whatsoever. She told me I had to order it 2 days ahead, which I know. That I did not get to do, I was just asking what they had in stock, and she just immediately disregard me by saying to ho and check online with an attitude. This location is very small, it's inside the mall but has its own outdoor entrance. Not a lot of pastries when we came. I guess they had sold out since it was early evening. But I figured they would restock throughout the day since they are inside of the mall. I got a a few bread items but don't remember the name. It wasn't my usual pick since they didn't have other options. Bread was dry. I threw out both of them. I got a an Ube latte with almond milk and asked for light ice. Delectable! This store is located in the mall and note that you have to enter through the mall entrance. Their buns, bread, cakes, and pastries are DELICIOUS. Their cakes are very light and fluffy. I especially love their cream filled buns/breads. What I am fond of is that they aren't overwhelmingly sweet. My boyfriend also likes to surprise me with the macarons as gifts and they're perfect because they're beautiful, tasty, and never stale (would highly recommend). Sometimes I have a dream that I work in a cute little bakery like this. Is this a French Korean bakery or a Korean French bakery? No matter, it is adorable, n'est-ce pas? Tous Les Jours has been our go to cake spot for quite some time as it's easy and convenient but not too sweet. Our family loves all of the flavors of their cakes but the strawberry cloud cake, takes the the cake! This location is located in the mall by the movie theatre, and the staff is super friendly and are able to answer questions as they come in. They do have some tables for folks to sit and eat as they enjoy their beverages if they would like. We often take our goodies home and enjoy it on our own time. When you purchase a cake, they give you a server and candles. When you let them know it's a birthday, they'll also give you the chocolate decor that says happy birthday to put on the cake too. The attendant was super nice and wrapped the cake in the gift-like box which keeps it pristine....with a candles and a cake cutter. It would make a great birthday cake...super moist and the frosting is whipped cream (not butter cream). Visiting is always a treat. The breads are fluffy and light, and the pastries are flavorful and buttery. My favorites are the red bean paste donut, and the melon bread. This place is great for a cookie and pastry or little small dessert. I tried the cloud coffee cus I love Vietnamese iced coffee and it was made with condensed milk as well. If you're in the Hawthorn mall and are feeling a really good fruit smoothie - this is the place to get one! I had their mango one before which was really good, and I also had the passion fruit one which was also pretty good. They have a variety of coffee and other pastries as well. We love the light cakes and the delightfully soft macaroons here at Tous Les Jours. They are located on the side of Hawthorn Mall where the AMC theater is. We just discovered recently that they also make fresh shaved ice bingsu. We have had these in Asia a couple years ago and recently in California. We tried the mango flavored one and it is magical. The soft sweet and tart mango with fluffy snow, syrup, condensed milk, and ice cream make a wonderful combination. We ate ours in the car because the shaved snow would melt if we took it home. Definitely eat it right away. This is waaay better than the other ones I've tried and other Boba and smoothie shops in the area and it's worth every penny!! Soooo good! Life changing amazing. Tous Les Jours continues to provide high quality baked goods at reasonable prices and this location is no different. If you've read my reviews of the Glenview or Schaumburg locations -- you can expect the same level of quality at this location in Vernon Hills (I've covered individual items much more in depth at those locations and the food here is similar). What makes this location a bit different is that the layout is like a casual cafe inside a more upscale part of the mall. Unlike the other locations which are more practical and better equipped to serve a high volume of customers, this reminds me of some of the nicer bakeries I saw in China, South Korea, and California. It mixes the comfortable feel of Panera and Corner bakery with the classy look of a patisserie. Every cake, every croissant, every tart is neatly arranged and stacked in a attractive way with perfect lighting. The food itself shows evidence of creative design with colors and shapes and clear textures, and fortunately the flavor follows with an equally excellent experience. On this visit, I was looking to try a few more of their new scoop cakes as I had an excellent experience with the amazing Chocolate Stripe Fresh Cream Cake. As usual, I also had a chocolate croissant with perfectly crisp almonds on top of a sweet and delicious layer of sweet chocolate. This wrapped perfectly around a thick, buttery croissant with fluffy inside layers and a crispy crust. The crispy almond pastry was also wonderful with perfectly roasted almonds on top of a buttery and slightly sweet pastry with perfectly crisp edges. The scoop cakes I tried did not disappoint. The tiramisu had a nice strong delicious coffee flavor to it. It was super soft like eating a cloud, though it lacked a rum element that would've given it an extra kick. Still, it was very moist and had a refined flavor. The strawberry cream cheese scoop cake was surprisingly creamy and had a strong flavor of fresh strawberries. This was also like eating a cloud with a delicious crumble on top for extra flavor. As these are a bit pricey in comparison to the non-cake items, it's hard to recommend or not recommend as you can get 2-3 delicious standard items instead of a cake -- but these are delicious as well if you're not very price sensitive. Overall, another excellent Tous Les Jours and the decor and presentation of the food really stand out here. Great addition to the mall and one of the best bakeries in this area as well. I highly recommend any items made with their fresh cream or any flaky/buttery pastries. read more

Kind of on the pricey side but a good place to try a variety of Korean - French pastries and desserts. They have interesting variety of croissants, donuts (not the traditional kind), buns with filling, cakes, teas, smoothies etc. When I go to the movies next door, I always browse through what they have to offer. Every once or twice in a while I'll pick up something as I like their tasty and delicious offerings. You should check them out if you haven't before. read more

Save your money!! We usually go to this place and get their cakes, it has never been a miss. However recently I bought a "premium cake" and it was incredibly dry and subpar. Your better off going to Jewel Osco or Walmart bakery! When we called to complain the manager wanted pictures of the cake as well as our receipt as proof? After providing all these details, all she could say is that it was our fault for buying the cake as it's supposed to be made dry? Don't know why they would make any cake like that in general. Chicago definitely could use more bakeries! The smell of fresh bread and coffee are simply amazing and we could definitely use more of this aroma in the malls. Overseas, a bakery is found around every corner and in malls, but unfortunately we don't have enough of this here! The locals rave about this place but I somehow never got around to trying it until recently. Located in a corner of Hawthorn, its easy to miss this place unless you know it is there or if you are going to the AMC next door. Love what they have done with the interiors, an aesthetic mix of metal, stone and wood. The goodies themselves are one too many to try and for a newbie like me it was like being in a candy store for the very first time. After much thought I decided to go with a Rose Macaroon, Ganache Moussecake, Honey Castella Cake and a Hot Chocolate. The rose macaroon was bliss in every bite. Sweet, soft with yet a bite to it and a tinge of rose of course. The ganache cake was absolutely divine, sinfully chocolaty, sinfully rich! If you are a chocolate lover then this must be on your order. The honey castella cake was super soft but the center was a tad dry for me. And finally the hot chocolate was simply one of the best I've had - unlike the watery versions in many places, this one was milky and full of chocolaty goodness. They blow what you get from the grocery store out of the water, on par with Lady M. A little expensive but worth it for a taste of New York in the suburbs. The spoonable cheesecake is my favorite. It's about time we get an Asian-style bakery in the Vernon Hills area. I've had some previous experience with Tous Les Jours in K-town in New York, so I was quite surprised and happy to see it opened a location underneath the AMC movie theater. The offer a lot of unique baked goods, both sweet and salty. I'm a fan of many of their cream-filled options, plus they also have some delicious bread. Honey toast is also a great item to bring home; put it in the toaster to warm it and it's even better! They sell a large variety of cakes here as well, along with tea, coffee, and various Asian-inspired smoothies. I've gotten their lychee flavor one, and it tasted wonderful! I've popped in quite a bit since they've opened, and I will definitely be coming back when my sweet tooth comes calling. read more

One of my favorite places to get pretty and delicious cakes. Love how they opened one in VH- now I don't have to go all the way to Glenview. A little bit towards the expensive side, especially if you want one of their decorated whole cakes...but the taste is better your average buttercream cake from other stores. I love their bread selection as well. My go-to's are the matcha cream loaf bread, the cream flavored croissants (sometimes I have to take out some of the cream because it gets a little too much), and mousse cups.
