We've gotten cakes and pastries from here and they're pretty good. We ate in the bistro a few times too and that was good. One thing I just don't understand is that they won't allow people order cakes when it's close to Christmas. I have 2 Christmas birthdays in my immediate family and being able to order the cake ahead of time and know that I just have to pick it up is how I prefer to do things. Last year we did just go and pick one up because they wouldn't take my order, but honestly it bothers me that I can't have a sure thing so I'm thinking about ordering from somewhere else so that I know my cake is guaranteed to be there when I pick it up. I placed an order on Sunday the 13th for my daughter's 16th birthday cake. The person who helped asked what the text on the cake should say and what color, after I decided I paid and was to pick it up the following Sunday. When I arrived to pick up the cake the lady who helped brought out the cake without any text on it and I informed her that this cake was supposed to have something written on it to which she replied rudely "Ok" and I said it was for my daughter's birthday and again rudely replied "what is supposed to say" which instead she should have said something along the lines of "I apologize let me check your order" but no. She instead went to the back and very sloppy wrote "Happy Birthday Stella" in piping which I was under the impression that it was supposed to be nice handwriting stencil text. She showed me the cake and said "is this ok?" Which at the moment I had no choice but to take it since my daughters birthday was that day. At no point in time didn't she apologize or try to make it right and mind you the owner of the bakery(Asian woman) was standing there the entire time and also didn't say or do anything about it to try and make it right. This place is convenient if you need to pick up a cake last minute. They always have 8" rounds prepared. By far, the best cake they have is the Strawberry Fresca. So fresh, lite, moist, and delicious. It's always a hit at our parties. They also have a wide selection of pastries on a daily which is great if you have a sweet tooth. Their custom cakes are on the expensive side. I called for a quote on a 1/4 sheet strawberry Fresca with some airbrush color on it and they wanted $110. This was my first time at Dolce Bistro & Bakery. Due to the Covid restrictions they are open for takeout, and curbside pickup only from 10am-7pm. They also have delivery through DoorDash and Postmates. There is plenty of parking outside. They offer custom cakes too with awesome designs and they also let you build your own cake out of the different slices that they have in the display. My birthday was yesterday and the restaurant we went to eat at only had ice cream for dessert, but I was craving chocolate cake. We also got a Ding Dong, a Lemon Blueberry cookie, a raspberry shortbread cookie, a funfetti cake ball, and a red velvet cake ball. We ended up with a chocolate cake ball and a red velvet cake ball. Both were just ok. I'm not big on cake balls or cake pops, they're just not my cup of tea. My husband was really looking forward to the funfetti cake ball so getting a chocolate one instead was disappointing to him. The raspberry cookie was good, but the Lemon Blueberry Cookie was Out of this World Phenomenal!!! We were just breaking off pieces to eat because it's a pretty large cookie. My husband and I actually fought over the cookie and in the end I won!! If you like Lemon and Blueberry do not sleep on this cookie because it was soo damn good. The Chocolate Amore Cake hit the spot; it was moist and decadent and everything that a good chocolate cake should be. I freaking hate giving negative reviews, but they are necessary so others are aware. I've been baking cakes for years, but this year my health has not permitted me to do so. Today is my daughters 26th birthday and the first year I didn't make her cake. So looked on Yelp I seen mostly positive reviews and very few negative ones. So I thought I'd give it a try. And the raspberry compote supposedly was nothing but a thin layer of raspberry preserves. As I dissected this thing I become even more disappointed. The cakes were way way way over cooked ( I would have thrown them away and start over) . So I we sat there thinking what we were going to do with the rest of this bland cake... one thought was hey I'll cut it up and pass it out to a few hungry ppl in the streets.... I ordered a strawberry vanilla cake. The cake was so-so. It was dry and not that flavorful. I got it back in May of 2024 For my tias birthday. Now, she is, at heart, a baker. She loves all things baking. Since it was for her, I wanted to try something new. Again, the cake itself was dry.
