A group of friends and I went to Lazarus 2 this past weekend and I have to admit... it exceeded my expectations! I had been to Lazarus before and thought it was just OK so I was expecting Lazarus 2 to be the same (but I was wrong). The inside of the brewery was cool and well put together! I loved that they had both indoor and outdoor seating. It was cold outside so I didn't think we'd be able to sit outside, but they had a great heating system and it actually ended up being very pleasant. The patio is also dog friendly which is so nice for when you have your pups with you. Once we had found a table, we went up and ordered. The team members behind the counter answered all the questions I had about the menu and were happy to make suggestions when asked. Our group ordered the following: - Drinks (Naked Sapphire, Prodigal Pilz, Cava Brut Nature, Rose, and Cider): Everyone loved what they had whether it was a Lazarus brew or the bottled wines. It was nice that they had such a variety to choose from. - Chips & Salsa: An usual salsa but good and very flavorful! Worth ordering. - Queso Fundido w/ Chorizo: YUM! So thick and delicious. Praise the Lord! This place is legit! I went to a variety of breweries when visiting my college buddy. This was sadly the last of the trip, but I felt that we finished STRONG. This probably had my most favorite beers. Its a little smaller and parking is an absolute nightmare. There is also ALOT of kids running around. Like, I like kids and have no problem with them at breweries, but this was...much. I really liked the stained glass window. Came here to work on Tuesday cause my apartments doing fire alarm testing all day and I didn't wanna leave my poor dog terrified. It's a great working environment as there were plenty of seating with outlets and dogs are allowed inside in the other building where there's AC. Sitting outside working in June in Texas is not a great experience so I was really happy to know that dogs are allowed in the smaller casita building. I ordered a cold brew and some breakfast tacos to start my stay. The breakfast tacos were quite delicious even though they were kinda small. I don't know about how it is as a brewery since I hate beer but as a place to remote work, it's great! For my fellow techies, the WiFi here is great and I was able to stay on the vpn without any issues. read more

There is plenty of seating options, both inside and outside, and I love that they allow dogs out on the patio AND inside the "casita" out back. Game-changer! There is also strong wifi, making it easy to WFH here. I can't speak to the food, as I didn't have any, but the beer is tasty. Parking can be an issue depending on where you go (we got lucky and snagged the last spot in the lot), but there is plenty of street parking on the nearby side roads. Relaxed dog-friendly brewery! I love the covered patio as it was a bit rainy when we visited, and service was quick and super nice, they even gave my puppy a little treat. Hate to say it, but the vibe is already wearing off for me. Don't get me wrong, the beers are still on point as are pretty much all of their drinks. Parking here is a real issue as I pointed out before. Even at 3pm on a Thursday we had to park wayyyy down the street. It can take a while to order if just 3 people are in line ahead of you. I had the St Peters bbl ale which turned out to be a 6-8oz pour. For $18, you're better off with the beer flite. But the real issue for me is the overly eclectic and limited menu for food. You like nachos? So do I, but cashew queso and no salsa choice, unless it has some strange twist to it at considerable price are the choices. In other words, not a fan on their odd tex mex experiment. We left about half the nachos uneaten because they really aren't that great, especially with no salsa. The 1oz cups for the overly hot sauces in their mini fridges don't cut it either. It's still a great place for the locals to hang out with their dog and enjoy a beverage, but since I don't live in the area, this is my last visit due to the issues listed above. read more

I heard they opened up so I swung by tonight. I sat at the bar and just grabbed a quick beer. The 40 days & 40 nights was a fantastic beer. Super refreshing. My bartender's name was Randy and he was really friendly and helpful. I loved the building and the music. They have a huge outdoor area with a lot of chairs. Whoever was playing music tonight played a bunch of Frank ocean, which made me a little concerned. Hopefully, they are doing okay. I like Frank ocean, so I enjoyed the ambiance. I will definitely be back to try more beers and eventually the food here since it's in walking distance from my apartment. Parking here is an absolute nightmare. read more

We brought the family here after running a 5k. There is a small parking lot and street parking available, but it can be difficult to find a spot. There is a lot of available seating, both indoors and outdoors. They have heaters outside so you can enjoy the patio even if it's cold. They patio is very relaxing and spacious and they have a gorgeous ceiling. There is an upstairs area as well, but I didn't check it out. There is also a pirate ship playground for kids by the patio, so you can still enjoy your drink/food while kids play. They serve food, beer, ciders, and coffee. I had a latte and my boyfriend had a cider. The rest of my family had different beers and everyone seemed to like their selections. We had the breakfast tacos w/bacon. They were your typical breakfast tacos, so they were good but nothing special. The full order of nachos grande was HUGE. We were able to share this between all 6 of us. They were filled with toppings and were delicious. My brother got the chilaquiles and say they were very flavorful. It also appeared to be a nice sized portion. The queso fundido was thick. I'm used to having it served with tortillas since it's thick, but you can never go wrong with cheese and chips. I would definitely bring friends and family here for food and drinks. read more

They had good working WiFi and even live music on a weekday! We tried the green apple cider which was pretty refreshing and all the food was great except the enchiladas - the Al pastor and vegetarian tacos were amazing ! And the shrimp appetizer was too good and so fresh and cooked to perfection . The enchiladas were a bit bland and very average but not bad compared to a few other places we ve had . The only downside was the parking condition as we didn't have much spots to park but you can always park on the street or the stores nearby if you are staying just for a few hours . Extremely Disappointed -- Won't Be Returning I've never felt more unwelcome at a place I once enjoyed. I was at Lazarus with a group of girlfriends -- we're regulars -- just having coffee and catching up. One of my friends had her two-year-old with her and brought a small snack for the child. What happened next was beyond rude and completely unnecessary. A young waitress with black hair came to deliver our order. She slammed our items down carelessly and immediately snapped at my friend, saying "No outside food allowed" in a harsh, condescending tone. My friend respectfully began putting it away, but the waitress doubled down and barked "Put it away NOW." Even after my friend explained it was for her toddler, the waitress continued to treat her with a shockingly rude attitude. I asked to speak to whoever was in charge and was directed to someone named Denis. He claimed to have "already handled it," but the waitress returned and smirked at us -- no apology, no accountability, nothing to indicate even a hint of customer service. What happened to hospitality? To treating loyal patrons -- or any patrons -- with basic respect? This place used to feel like a community spot, but after being treated like a nuisance, we're questioning whether we'll ever return. If you value kindness, professionalism, or even just basic decency, you may want to rethink visiting. There are too many great spots around to tolerate this kind of treatment. read more

Lazarus is perfectly located in central Austin, making it the perfect meeting spot with family/friends that live in both north and south Austin. The beer is always great, I enjoyed the Farmer's Daughter but the beer that caught me by surprise was the Jolted Phoenix. I love the flavor of coffee, but hate that most coffee-flavored beers are dark and heavy. The Jolted Phoenix was refreshing, very drinkable and had the perfect coffee flavor. They also have an awesome upstairs area with lounge and bar style seating; my favorite place to hang and drink beer, especially when it's hot outside! read more

This really is a good spot. The coffee is always hot and free refills. That's actually tough to find because so many places serve specialty drinks and don't keep their old fashioned coffee hot, so it's nice to have a place to rely on. If food is four stars, people are five. Just a nice place to be. I tried new coffee shops for a week and went to about 5 new ones all around east Austin and my conclusion was I really appreciate good old Lazarus for the open atmosphere, reliably good coffee and generally quiet crowd of locals. The new shops were interesting but Lazarus has a different level of professionalism. It's an old-school industry vibe of cool locals that I miss about Austin in the 90s / early 2000s. Coffee: Always good and their mugs aren't those 5lbs chunks of porcelain which helps keep the coffee hot. After 1:00 PM or so, they make each cup with this machine that brews a single cup (not a Keurig) and it's really fresh. I feel guilty getting refills because they have to keep making it, but it might be the best cup of coffee in Austin. Food: Tacos: Only tried breakfast tacos. Pretty good. Right price at $4.50, not $6.00. Tortas: Bread is fresh. I do low carb so I don't have much experience with it, but I remember the bread being really good. Rice Bowls: This is my go to because the Al Pastor is so well made as are the black beans. Seriously if you like black beans these will rival your best ever. Beer: People seem to like it. The owner of this establishment knows what he is doing, just like Lazarus downtown location. He truly builds a class act business around his customers. I have been to this location about 10 times now and every time I go, I just feel a sense of community. The ambiance is amazing with a great amount of outside seating, indoor seating, and now an upstairs lounge room. So whether you are looking for a happening area outside in the main area with very dog and kid friendly feel, or escape a little to a more quite upstairs in the lounge, it really has a lot of different options for what you are going for. Can't wait for live music here out on the patio! The beer selection is great and they have all different types for what you are looking for. They also have other options for drinks as well. I have never checked but it would be nice if they did have some sort of hop water style for if you aren't looking to drink an alcoholic drink. The food is really good here. I typically go for the verde chicken quesadilla and it's great every time. I do wish they had a carne asana version of this at this location as well as the carne asada tacos like they do at Lazarus downtown location, but hopefully one of these days... they do have a larger menu at this location and definitely some more expensive options of food, so if you are looking for larger plates vs tacos, this location has a much bigger kitchen that can accommodate that and what I have had so far is all good If you live in the area or are just passing by and looking for a cool brewery with a lot of fun going on, a true example of Austin community and charm, I would go here. Love their beer, I got the Lighting Wolf and As You Wish. Both beers were hazy IPA which are my typical go to. We had lunch at Lazarus as well. The enchiladas were very basic but the wife loved her street tacos. Parking can be difficult, I wish the parking lot was bigger. We ended up parking on the neighboring side street which was still a little crowded but we were lucky. Tasty beer and looking at the menu it looks like they change often as I can't find the ones I tried on the menu anymore. The more unique types and the nitros were out when I was there. There's an outdoor area out back and inside it's multi level but at this point it looks like only the first level is accessible. I came here around 8pm on a weekday and it was still busy both inside and out. The only negative is if you are looking for a handicap spot there is only one out front and it was blocked by an inconsiderate sob- so in terms of accessibility - that's not cool. There is food too. The tacos are like the location on east 6th. They have larger dishes too like fried rice which was enough for a couple meals but I was hungry and scarfed it down. read more
