I had wanted to try this restaurant for a LONG time, but it's very far away via transit so I wasn't able to go until this morning. I ordered the vegan biscuits and gravy and the vegan beignets. The vegan biscuits and gravy were fine, nothing special. The tofu scramble was the best part of this dish. I love biscuits and gravy, but so far nothing has topped the vegan gloria add potatoes at Biscuits + Groovy in Austin, Texas. If I came back, I'd order something else. It's been years since our last bad experience and we thought it was time to give Lazy Day Cafe another shot. This time we got a timer and they said it would be about a 30 minute wait. The wait was indeed about 30 minutes. The restaurant is really small, there are very few tables so I think it's important to just expect a wait here. I tried the shrimp and grits this time and they were really good. Good enough to make me not even care about the service if it were bad, which was not the case this time. Our server was great. This is a cafe in the cut of a strip mall. It almost reminds me of an old school diner. It has a cute little bar area. I ordered the vegan chicken and waffles. The crust on the "chicken" was seasoned pretty well to be tofu. I also ordered a side biscuit with gravy. This was pretty good but maybe a little too salty or over seasoned for me. I've tried to come here a couple times now, and they always have a wait! That's always a good sign :) What a hidden gem tucked away in a strip mall in Millcreek. We got here later into the typical brunch time, around 1/1:15 on a weekday and were able to be seated right away. There is a very limited number of tables inside and some bar seating. I was really excited to see they had quite a few vegan options! Biscuits & gravy, vegan benedict, and even a "chicken" and waffles option. They were unfortunately out of biscuits so I couldn't get the biscuits & gravy (I will next time though!) so I ordered the vegan benedict, which comes with a side of potatoes. The vegan benedict was great, it was a tofu scramble with a house made cashew hollandaise sauce and avocado on an english muffin. The potatoes were cold when they arrived, and a little chewy. The benedict itself was delicious and I would order it again. I loved the sauce! A quirky little cafe that's worth the wait. We were in Salt Lake city for Christmas week and came back to this place after 7 long years. We didn't remember there were any lines back in 2016 so there was a 45min to 1 hr wait one of the mornings ahahha. We tried again on our last day and sneaked in bit earlier and was able to get a table after 30min - we sat by the bar which had faster turn out than a table ;) We had chicken waffle, single waffle, lemon pancakes and eggs Benny. I would totally come back for the pancake and waffles tho this time I didn't try the biscuits and gravy like I did years ago. Everything was delicious and would love to be back again. A tip for travelers. If u come early 9am ish they hardly have a waiting line which starts to build up. Lazy Day Cafe served my favorite breakfast on my trip to Utah! All of the dishes were phenomenal and service was great. We had a bit of a wait - 20 to 30 minutes - for a table of 3 on a Saturday morning, but once we were seated, everything was super quick. Now for the food! We got the Jackfruit Chile Verde Burrito, Baked French Toast, Veggie Eggs Benedict, and a single Lemon Pancake. The Jackfruit Chile Verde Burrito was the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. It was peppery, spicy, and flavorful. The Baked French Toast was perfectly sweet and sticky and way better than anything I had been expecting. We had gotten the half portion, but it was substantial! The Veggie Eggs Benedict was probably the most average tasting dish, but don't get me wrong, it was still really tasty. The Lemon Pancake was light and fluffy and a single piece was decently sized. I loved that they offered smaller portions of some dishes so that we could try a lot. I cannot say enough good things about the food and Lazy Day Cafe! Hidden Gem!!! So glad we found this place!!! Had family in town so there were 13 of us (6 kids) and they sat us right away even though they were busy and short staffed. Jenny and Shayla did an awesome job! Honestly some of the best service I've received in SLC. We got our food FAST, they don't play around here. And let me tell you, the food was excellent. We had just about everything at our table and everyone was sharing, so I can honestly say that anything you order is going to be a good choice. I personally ordered the open face breakfast sandwich and loved it. But sampling everyone's plate, I would have been happy with anything they make here. When the waitress said the Hashbrowns were cooked in bacon grease, I had visions of perfectly browned potatoes but there was no crisp to the potatoes brought to our table. Lazy day will definitely be making the rotation for breakfast. If we wanted a menu with a ton of options though this wouldn't be the place. The 10-15 menu items they do have are SO good. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the smoked salmon was paired well. Loved the hollandaise sauce. Scones: $6 - Two generous fluffy scones with honey butter. These were delicious and filling. We couldn't finish it all and had to take it home. The honey butter is sooooo good. Overall, the food quality and price can't be beat. If you're looking for something comforting and filling for brunch, then this is the spot for you. I would be open to returning and bringing friends and family. My only feedback is that the restaurant could use a deep clean. The decorations on the shelf is dusty. The furniture and condiment bottles also have a sticky feeling. This can be easily corrected. The server, Jennifer, was rude and dismissive and never once smiled or offered my husband a Happy Father's Day (being with our son). When we asked her to tell us about the special and she simply said, "It's country fried steak." We had to ask what came with it. I wish we had asked the price we assumed it would be on par with the other prices. Boy, we're we wrong. It was almost double at $18.50. When it came time for the check, Jennifer didn't ask if we needed a box she just slid the check on the table without a word. It was so very bizarre as one of the reasons we chose this place was the service. We were not fans. I recently went to this breakfast spot drove 45 minutes from where I live because my son has a dairy intolerance and these are the only pancakes that don't literally taste like they are vegan. Our total was 35.72. The server was not the nicest idk if thats theyre thing but she just wasn't very nice. I left a 5 dollar tip. totaling 40.72. I woke up to be charged a 10 dollar tip and 45 dollars being charged on my account. this is completely unprofessional and also illegal. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Lazy Day Cafe on Saturday. My wife had the Chili Verde Burrito, which was flavorful and very tasty. Our boys loved the pancakes and french toast. The Lemon Pancakes were fluffy and tasty with a wonderful syrup. My chicken and waffles were just okay because, unfortunately, the chicken was overcooked, and the breading was super crispy.
