Tried Lazy Dog for the first time today. After waiting quite awhile for a server, I went up to the bar to ask if we could order. The bartender was very nice and took our order, but still not certain who was actually our server. We had to ask for our appetizer after our food came to the table, which wasn't good. So glad we have this option in Northbrook now. They have an extensive menu with so many great options. I opted for the tuna with crispy rice that was on the starter menu. It was delicious! We went to Lazy Dog on Sat. Didn't have a reservation so we expected a wait. We had waited about 30 minutes when another couple came in at 6:20pm without a reservation. They were told an hour wait. They left and came back with a reservation for 6:30 and were seated before us. Obviously, they made an online reservation. It doesn't seem right when you have people waiting to be able to make a reservation online 10 mins before the seating. The menu has been downsized considerably since it opened. Our food took 30 mins to get to us and was subpar. We had to wait another 10 minutes for the bill which was incorrect. The only good part about our experience was the server. She worked her tail off. It was my first time in and I sat at the bar with two friends and we had Edell as our server. He was by far exceptional at his service to us but he also suggested items and chatted with us. As the bar got busier he still checked in since we were doing drinks and apps. I will make sure to return to the bar area to see Edell again!!! Went in for breakfast. We ordered a Bloody Mary along with our breakfasts which included an omelet and some pancakes. The omelet was shaped like typical omelet; half circle with the cheese and condiments in the folded inside. It's size; about 5-6 inches long was a real disappointment. I'm thinking, "did they shrink it, or where's the rest of it?". The 4 pancakes were also tiny, about 3" in diameter. The food tasted ok. The Bloody had a really stingy pour of vodka; if it had any at all. Couldn't taste it. We mentioned it to our server, and she said some of their bartenders can be more generous with their pours. No offer to make another, or rectify a lousy Bloody Mary. With so many dining choices around it'll be a long time before we return to skimpy portions at full size prices, and the lack of value on a cocktail. read more

Oreo, the dog, is very pleased we chose Lazy Dog for dinner. Gio, our server, greeted us and said hello to Oreo. The manager asked about the breed and said if we need anything, he's available inside. What an amazing first impression.Oreo's water was just the way she liked it, fresh and cold. My husband was very impressed with the huckleberry lemonade. Gio made some excellent suggestions for appetizers and dinner. The only problem we encountered is we really wanted to try the butter cake or apple huckleberry for dessert but the dinner portions were huge so we didn't have room. So yes, I am a foodie. I'm always on spot on my comments. First time at the restaurant great atmosphere nice and bright. Nice to be able to read a menu without pulling on my cell phone :-). Our server was liv she was great great personality. First time at the restaurant received free homemade chips were great. I ordered the Cubano sandwich great sandwich. Most of the things are made in house and of course their beer. I had a ale was outstanding. I definitely will be going back and telling my friends about this restaurant. Went for Mother's Day brunch 5/11 with a group of 11. It looks very nice from the outside and the inside layout is pretty cool. Waiter worked really hard, did his best. Had a lot of energy. One brunch menu for the table. We all passed around the menu as we ordered. Must have been out of brunch menus. Food review for the veggie omelette (since there were no standard omelette options) and ordered side of bacon. The actual omelette itself was tasty, so bravo to the omelette. The "side of bacon" was crumbled bacon served in a 1" metal thimble as crumbled bacon bits. It was the equivalent to 1/4 piece of bacon, Asked server if this is the side of bacon, the reply was we can bring more, but that was it. No more was brought. They must have been out of bacon, Dry toast was on the side. No butter, no jelly. Waiter seemed shocked I wanted butter and jelly. By the time the butter arrived, the toast was cold and inedible. They must have been out of toast and jelly. Asked for hot sauce for the omelette. No Cholula or Tabasco, but a bowl of non edible hot sauce. Must have been out of hot sauce. Hard to believe that's acceptable for diners, but I guess the bar must be low these days. Overall, hard pass on Lazy Dog. The place was extremely loud. We won't be back. read more

I ordered a bison burger with bacon on it. I picked up my order got back home and there's no bacon . I called them and ask if they can remake it and they say they will. I go and pick up my order now the second time get home into my surprise there's once again no bacon . When I asked the staff what happened the manager never spoke directly to the kitchen staff, and just resubmitted my order in a ticket the kitchen staff refused to prep the bacon necessary for my burger . Siteing there's too much food to prep. I came in at around 3 o'clock before the dinner rush . They're open for another eight hours, but have just decided no bacon for the night. I was a first time guest and one of the managers, Rachel i believe was her name brought over complimentary waffle chips and was so rude and condescending, and then I had an issue with my burger and I had to hound her down because she was on her phone for what appeared to be at-least 15 minutes of her just standing in the same spot on her phone. When she came over immediately she was confrontational and spoke with lots of attitude for no reason. I was confused on why she was rude to me when i was just trying to grab her attention since i needed help. Very unprofessional and made me feel unwelcome. When we sat and ordered drinks and an appetizer waited 30 minutes and no drinks or the app. Then after 40 minutes dinner came out and still no drinks. Went to management and was told they were busy. Still no drinks, then double the drinks cam.At this point wanted to leave. Then when the bill came was charged in full including double drinks. While the restaurant was not very busy, my party was there for a late lunch. I had the fish and chips and the candied bacon. The fish was crispy and seasoned just right. The bacon was sweet crispy and for me a tad too hot with pepper seeds. Eli, the waiter was on spot with everything from appetizer to dessert. While I do not consume alcoholic beverages, the drink menu and drink specials were offered several times during the meal. The two of us decided to stop at Lazy Dog today for a quick lunch which we have done numerous times and it was a terrible experience this time. Our waitress was awful. She was nowhere to be found half the time, the bartender had to tell her to pick up our drink that had been sitting there for at least 15 mins and another waiter served our food that was sitting for a bit. Once she served the long awaited drink, we didn't see her again until we were ready for the check. The food wasn't great as well, the apps we got were deep fried for too long and the rice bowl was super spicy even though in the past it was never spicy. But here's the best part, when we got our bill thankfully we checked it before paying because she automatically added a 20% tip for two people. I did call her over and told her to remove it because I had no plans on tipping that much when her service was awful. She stated she didn't know why the tip was added automatically but come on, I'm not stupid. Just make sure to check that bill for an added tip. We definitely won't be back, what a disappointment. read more
