We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Lazy Dog in Brea yesterday, and a huge part of that was because of our server, Janyce! She was amazing from start to finish--friendly, attentive, personable, and completely on the ball. She seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even had to ask. That kind of service is rare, and Janyce absolutely deserves some serious recognition--and a BIG FAT RAISE! What really put the experience over the top was how well she took care of our grand-dog, Argo. She made sure he had food and water and treated him like part of the family. That extra attention meant a lot to us. We've had plenty of great servers over the years, but Janyce was genuinely one of the BEST we've ever had. The food was great and so was the service. We went for an early lunch around 11:00 am to beat the lunch crowd and it perfect. The peach ice tea is not only beautifully presented, but it tastes great too! No refills, but it was still worth it. We ordered the lunch combos and they were perfect! The chicken club with avocado paired with onion rings and chicken tortilla soup, yum! My mom enjoyed the walnut chicken salad sandwich, fries and tomato soup. Shawarma salad is a new menu item. It was really good! Two main areas for improvement are the chicken itself, it was dry, and that there's a sauce on the bottom of the place that makes everything touching it soggy. So overall great flavor and I would get it again but with all sauces on the side. I did get dressing on the side so whatever sauce was on the bottom of the plate, isn't considered a dressing Edamame we're average Pot roast was great! Not salty at all, very tender. Updating my review since it's been a while. Today I ordered a delivery, and my bowl was once again delicious! I love their bowls, and actually ordered 2 for dinner and one for tomorrow. For being a chain, their food is always consistently good. I can't speak for their service today since it was delivered, but in the past we've had good experiences here as well. We hadn't been here in a very long time since they removed the pizza from their menu that we used to love. They were very crispy and the deviled egg was perfect, perfectly seasoned and decorated with a delicious candied bacon. From there, I decided to go with a New York steak, medium rare veggies and gratin potatoes. My steak was perfectly cooked then it was good. For being a place that is not a steakhouse, it was good but I would not say it was the best as you could tell that this was a previously frozen cut. The sides were delicious. My boyfriend decided to go for a burger with truffle fries. His burger was huge and it tasted delicious. I think I will go with something different next time, but it was still worth it. We could not leave without dessert, knowing that they had the s'mores the dessert. This was a huge portion for sure shareable. The brownie part of it was warm and fresh with the melted marshmallow on the top and one scoop of ice cream. Overall, we will be back. They have plenty of parking on the front and on the sides and a large sitting area. They have a wide variety in their menu, including healthy choices and no corkage fee. I went there around 3pm on a Sunday with my husband. It was not very busy. I see many open tables inside the restaurant. Yet, we had to wait 15 minutes to get seated. We ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Bowl from their new menu "$15 Fireside Favorites". This item comes with a banana pudding for dessert. In addition I ordered a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. After placing our orders, we had to wait 35 minutes to get the food. I had to flag down my waitress to have her check on our order. When our food finally arrived, we didn't even have serving utensils. Service at this restaurant needs a lot of improvement. The chicken tortilla soup and the banana pudding was not bad. The Mediterranean chicken bowl: 2/5. Chicken was very dry. The rest of the stuff (rice, salad, hummus) that comes with the bowl was fine. Although the banana pudding tasted fine, I was not happy to see that the bowl they used to serve the pudding has many chips (damaged areas) in the bowl. They should retire these damaged bowls. Damaged bowls can be a health hazard. Overall, I was disappointed. Both food and service need improvement. read more

Went in for Valentine's Day, had a reservation and got seated about 5-10 mins after which felt pretty fast since there was a lot of people waiting to get seated without reservations. Our server was super nice and was fast with the food/drinks. I didn't need to ask for a refill, he just came and re filled when he saw we were low. The food was really good. It was my first time eating here, and the food quality was solid. She also asked among our group if it was our first time visiting the restaurant. As a complimentary appetizer for welcoming us, we got some tasty seasoned potato chips. They have a fifteen-dollar deal for a set with select entrees and desserts. I got the barbecue bacon ranch burger and banana pudding. You could upgrade the burger's side for $2.50, but I wouldn't recommend that given the small portion size. For example, I upgraded to onion rings and only got about six. The burger meat quality was great. At medium rare, it was juicy and flavorful; I also appreciated the burger's large portion size. However, the sauce made the burger soggy; it was a little difficult to eat without using a lot of napkins. I thought the banana pudding was decent. It included some wafers, so it was a little more filling than expected. The other option was a s'more brownie sundae, which sounded a little too chocolatey for me. It would've been nice to have a vanilla option with the deal. Overall, it took a long time for me to decide on an entree, but the burger was a decent and safe choice. While I haven't eaten burgers from many other restaurants, I do look forward to trying out those that specialize in them. read more

We ordered the three starters for $25, which felt like a good deal. We like the Hot Honey Feta Dip served with grilled herb French bread. The dip was creamy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the bread, think it was the most impressive dish of the meal. The brussels sprouts and tikka masala meatballs were fine but fairly standard, nothing particularly memorable. Our kid ordered the cheeseburger with fries from the kids' menu. It was also pretty standard, but the portion size was generous and felt like good value. The entrées were a bit disappointing compared to the appetizers. The rice that came with the teriyaki chicken was dry and hard, and the kebab meat wasn't anything special. Service was okay. Staff were polite, but it was hard to get someone's attention when we needed help. We've been here many times, Lazy Dog is still a spot we'll come back to. This location is central for me and one friend who lives in Orange County and one who lives in San Bernardino County. It's right off the 57 State College State. It doesn't matter what day of the week we meet, there are always have a lot of people and I'm not surprised the food is really good. My daughter received several promotional cards as graduation gifts, and when I asked about using one, the manager's response felt oddly inconvenienced. I'm sorry... isn't the entire purpose of a promotional card to be used? The vibe was giving, "How dare you redeem the thing we literally gave you." Once seated, we waited over 10 minutes before our server stopped by. No greeting. No hello. No "How's everyone doing today?" Just an iPad appearing at the edge of the table followed by, "What can I get you?" Customer service seems to have gone on break before our server arrived. Thankfully, we already knew what we wanted: 2 All-American Burgers Cajun Fries House Bread Brussels Sprouts The food was fine. Not bad. Not amazing. Just... food. For dessert, we tried the Campfire Cookies and Strawberry Mint Butter Cake. Again, perfectly edible. Nobody cried tears of joy. Nobody started planning a return trip based on dessert alone. The funniest part? Out of the dozen graduation promo cards my daughter received, we only used ONE, plus a $50 gift card. After all that, our remaining balance was $2.86. And because I've worked in customer service and know how rough it can be, the server who showed absolutely zero personality with our table, while somehow becoming everyone's best friend at surrounding tables, still got the remaining change as a tip. The food is standard Lazy dog good. Our preference has always been that the small bites are better. It has been a great option that they have a 3 small bites for 25 options. Normally we come for their awesome happy hour but we just missed it only to find this awesome all day deal. You get your choice of entree as well as a choice of desert. I got the Mediterranean Chicken salad, which was simplely made but honestly delicious and exactly what I was feeling! My wife got the Fettuccine Alfreado with shrimp which was good as well. For desert you get the option of Brownie with Ice cream or Banana Pudding and we both decided on the brownie. Definitely the right choice, as it comes with a melted marshmallow and chocolate in a little cast iron. New York Steak was surprisingly good, as I do not expect to eat decent beef outside of a steakhouse. The egg salad sandwich was absolutely delicious and so creamy. I got a wedge salad which had the best creamy blue cheese dressing. My lil guy beasted his entire giant watermelon slice and ate his whole burger. Our big boy ate a whole candy bacon and garlic bread by himself. The appetizers and small bites are priced so affordably, some were only $5 or $6. Stopped in for late night happy hour after going to a nearby neighborhood known for their Christmas lights. They had a decent selection of bar bites and we kinda ordered a little of everything.
