Louis Ribs (1/4 RACK) and BBQ Chicken (1/4) Both the ribs and the half chicken was moist, flavorful and absolutely delish and shareable. Added extra side of Mac & Cheese. Review 65/365 Day Challenge I'm not a yelper that usually leave a negative review unless it's really terrible and a 1 star but Lucille's not just myself was dissatisfied it was my whole entire family. They all decided that we're taking Lucille's out of our family dinner list. We usually frequent Lucille's since my son loves bbq ribs and we'd come here for a celebration. Like for this Tuesday evening we came to celebrate my bro in law n my son's bday. Duo celebration. If you look at my review from 4 years ago, 5 stars and i haven't updated since because it's usually been pretty good each time returning that there was no need to update it. But this experience we had this past week was really bad that we've decided that we likely will be stop coming to our local Lucille's. Read other reviews on here that aren't left a while back and looks like they've also mention how Lucille's quality along as service has gone down tremendously a lot. When we were seated, we didn't get any assistance from a server til 10 mins plus. We had to ask the associate that was wiping down tables if he was covering our area to get some assistance. He informed us that our server should be right over. Our fountain drinks that we ordered Sprite, Dr Pepper and sweet tea tasted off. There was barely any carbonation nor did the sweet tea had any sweetening to the tea we loved here. We informed our server and she told the manager gal. The manager came and spoke to us 5 mins later and confirmed to us she noticed the fountain drinks were off and was having an associate replace the fountain drinks machine but meanwhile offered if we can get another drink in the time being without no charge so we may enjoy something with our meals. We took the offer n got a strawberry lemonade along w a peach lemonade also while waiting for the replacement soda. My kids weren't too much of a fan of lemonade but tried their best to enjoy the lemonade. About 20 mins to half n hour later. The manager did see us and came back to ask how our replacement soda tasted and we informed her we never got our replacement soda. She let an associate know and we finally got our replacement soda. But by then, we were about done w our meals and was pretty full. Ask an associate that is now no longer our original server but a server that was just bringing our food and drinks to us. A to go cup so we can just take our replacement soda to go. We never got out to go cup. Either they were short staffed that evening or associates just wasn't happy being there. Because when we asked for Togo containers too. It took some time to get it. Please Lucille's management, if you see this review. Look into your staffs. The restaurant is clean it's just there are some etiquettes that need to be going over. A BIG HUGE READ FLAG. Why would an associate be SWEEPING RIGHT NEXT TO A TABLE THAT IS CURRENTLY TRYING TO ENJOY THEIR DINNER. Where do you think sweeping the floor. The dust particles up in the air would go to. It'll be flying around where we are digesting our food. This is something no one would enjoy seeing when eating. Not sure if the associate didn't have a clue regards to this. ITS POOR HYGIENE for a restaurant industry. I was feeling under the weather along there was no upper management nor much associate to even let them know what we were dealing with. Didn't even bother doing our annual bday celebration there that my son enjoys with his uncle for their bday celebration tradition. We still left a 16% tip because we know how things are with possibly server just being low staffed. Because we saw our original server Alyssa at the end b4 leaving the restaurant. She was able to give us a set of Togo boxes. Told us she apologized she couldn't continue serving us because she had a bigger party of 15 to attend to. The fried chicken with gravy was fantastic. Here is the issue - they have a special of ribs on Wens for 5.99 ( loss leader ) - it is to go with an entree. So we get the ribs to go and they are ice cold ( cooked but you have to heat at home )- what idiot at corporate came up with that idea. I was very disappointed - I don't think I will be back. Really disappointed with our visit to Lucille's today. My daughter's meal was unfortunately one of the worst we've had. The brisket was almost entirely fat with very little meat. The loaded mashed potatoes had so much cheese that they were gummy and unappetizing instead of creamy. To top it off, the biscuits were hard and tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. We've had better experiences here in the past, so this was especially disappointing. Let me start by saying, since the name of the place is Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ, you'd EXPECT to get some awesome BBQ/smoked meats. Sadly, after having been to mom & pop BBQ joints, I find Lucille's highly lacking in standout taste and flavor. My friend and I both orders the 2 meat lunch special, choosing double (quarter) chicken with mac & cheese for the side. It's not that the chicken preparation was necessarily bad, but it wasn't memorable either. I've actually had better at a nearby buffet. Same for the mac & cheese. Even the complimentary biscuits with apple butter were disappointing in that they were not warm and fluffy. Service was great, tho, and our server was friendly, checked on us regularly, and kept our sodas filled. There's plenty of inside dining and they also have a bar area that looks like a fun place to eat while watching your favorite sport of the season. I do love that the smoker is right near the front, emitting all the delicious smoky aromas. Would I come back? Probably only if someone gave me a gift card. So we had some Lucilles brought into our office for lunch the other day. When I checked out their online menu, for some reason I thought the Southern Fried Chicken in Gravy looked pretty good. It came with mashed potatoes so that was my choice. What a mistake! The chicken was burnt and unedible! I couldnt believe the cook at this restaurant served this crap! See photos. I am always skeptical when it comes to trying American bbq because my grandparents would make the absolute best. My friends wanted to try this place out and I stayed away from the American bbq because I didn't want to be disappointed. I asked the waiter, I think her name was Hannah about her personal recommendations and she recommended the chicken fried steak. Got the St. Louis ribs, pulled pork, cole slaw, mac n cheese. Everything was fully cooked. Ordered beignets to go on the touch pad that's on each table. The beignet itself was just okay but I'm not a beignet expert. However the strawberry dipping sauces was delicious. We recently hosted a large party of 55 guests at Lucille's BBQ, and overall it was a great experience. A special shoutout to our servers, Ericka and Devin, who did an excellent job taking care of such a large group. We were especially happy to have Ericka again, as she has always provided outstanding service for our large dine-in events. Her professionalism, organization, and positive attitude made a big difference. There were a few seating issues at the beginning, but the management team worked quickly alongside Ericka to resolve everything, and the rest of the event went smoothly. We really appreciated how promptly they addressed the situation and made sure our guests were comfortable. As always, the food was excellent. Been coming to this location for years. The service is solid, the staff in front get your name in fast and tend to get customers seated pretty quickly - even on a busy weekend night! I love getting in on the build your own BBQ combo. You cant go wrong with the ribs, tri tip, or BBQ chicken. I recently discovered their BBQ burger with the onion straws, and it is AWESOME! Excellent flavor, it all goes together so well.. I used to be a big fan of their baked beans as a side choice, but I feel the quality has suffered lately. It is a tradition for me to get a caesar salad as an additional side. They started putting tomatoes in theirs and using power cheese instead of shaved. The service is always average; our server forgot 2 of our drinks and we had to ask multiple times for a few things (ranch, to-go box, water refills etc.). Bottom Line Up Front: If you don't mind paying a premium for Southern-style BBQ from a restaurant chain, Lucille's is a fun and satisfying destination. The Locale: Located right off the 57 Freeway on Imperial Highway, this Lucille's is clean with an enjoyable aesthetic. It's made to look like a mid-20th century smokehouse. The Service: The entire wait staff is friendly and competent, but our server, Erika, was exceptional. She made excellent recommendations, was quick to respond, and brought what we needed even before we asked for it. I can't compliment her enough. The Food: My dad and I shared the Feast for Two package in which you pick an appetizer, entree, and dessert from a set menu. We chose fried onion strings for the starter, pork belly, sausage, and baby back ribs for the main course, and chocolate cake for the dessert. The fried onions were good but were so intertwined like Velcro that it was hard not to spill some eveytime we tried to pull a few strings off the plate. The pork belly was moist with a nice layer of fat (that's a good thing with this choice!). The baby back ribs were solid. And the sausage was genuinely spicy and juicy. Oddly enough the chocolate cake was too sweet and not dense or moist at all; it fell apart every time I tried to cut a piece off. My wife orders the country fried steak, which was yummy. Her veggie sides were just average though. The Price: This is where it hurts. The price of everything on the menu has seen to gone up since the last time I visited. Including tip and taxes, our meal for 3 people came out to be more than $100. This means fewer visits for us overall per year. Bad for us, bad for their business. The Conclusion: Lucille's offers a fun vibe and mostly delicious Southern-style food. It's been a minute since we've been to Lucille's. And the only reason why we came here was because we had a gift card. The tables and chairs are pretty clean. The space is what you'd expect from a chain restaurant. We ordered the southern fried chicken, which was delicious. However, the mashed potatoes was just OK. It was on the dryer side. And the vegetables are good. We also got their barbecue platter. We chose the pork belly, sausage, Baby back ribs with a side of coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious except for the sausages. The food was good not the greatest, but what made this experience amazing was Ericka, our server. I feel like it's very rare that we get great service so when we do get it, we are super appreciative. What made Ericka stand out was that she was very attentive, generous with the refills, and just a sweetheart. And we had to make sure she knows it. Kind of speechless, I was never rude and all I asked for was a refill of biscuits at one point. I came here with my girlfriend in December and it was so appallingly bad, at the end of our meal, the server who had been staring daggers into me the whole night gave us dirty towels to clean our hands. They smelled bad and were dirty. I don't think I've had an experience at a restaurant this unsettling and weird. I never once got a refill for a drink, even when I politely asked, we waited 25 minutes for the person to come back and take our order. She kept forgetting to bring us biscuits and groaned at us when we asked. I was shocked she ever brought some and a refill. We ordered maybe $65 of food and the food was ice cold and both my girlfriend and I felt sick after, we barely ate the food because it was bad. The biscuits were the only thing that was decent. I don't even know why I tipped, I just was so floored by the terrible experience, nothing comes close to how bad this Lucille's was. We both genuinely felt uncomfortable. I ordered the Family Meal for Four and upgraded the meat to two full racks of baby back ribs (+$9.50 each). When I opened the box, I honestly felt uncomfortable seeing the ribs already cut up. They were sliced into small pieces, about one or two bones each, which I really didn't like. Since the meat itself was quite dry, it made the presentation feel even more disappointing. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and it was pretty crowded. We were told the wait was about 30 to 45 minutes which was fine by us. The wait ended up being closer to 30 minutes. We were seated at a booth. Our waiter was super nice and service was fast. To drink I got the peach lemonade and my boyfriend got a strawberry lemonade. The peach lemonade was really good and had a natural peach flavor which wasn't too sweet. My boyfriend's lemonade was similar. For my entree I got 1/3 ribs with a side of corn and mac and cheese. My ribs were delicious and fall off the bone. The corn on the cob was great with cheese on it. My mac and cheese however was pretty disappointing. It tasted like a microwaved dinner mac and cheese. The place is pretty short staffed and in bad shape. We were sat upstairs and pretty forgotten. We were checked on once or twice, but the waiter never came back around for another round of drinks. There was water running down the wall and behind the booth where we sat, there was a very unpleasant smell of stale water or mold. We were told the water was from the rains we had a few weeks ago, which is a bit alarming since that was more than two weeks ago. The food tasted fine. When it came to paying the bill we asked 3 times. No fault of the waiter as the are short staffed but they need to get more help and clean the place up. My husband and came here on a Friday evening to dine after a long week at work. For drinks, we both got Lucille's Back Porch Strawberry Lemonade which is a cocktail that includes wild strawberry vodka, triple sec, and lemonade. It was enjoyable to drink and wasn't too strong. We decided on the 3 Course Feast for 2 in which we picked Cesar salads for our appetizer, baby back ribs, tri tip, and brisket with mashed potatoes and fries, then the Midnight Chocolate Crumble for dessert. All of that for $60 was such an incredible price! Our drinks and our food came out really quick and everything was delicious. The only concern we had is that we received drinks, biscuits, the entire entree first and wondered where our salads were. We had already taken a few bites of everything and thought they had forgotten. Thankfully, the salads eventually came but it would've been nice to have them as a starter, as intended. Used to come here all the time so we decided to drop by since it was lunch time. It took over 20 minutes to get two iced teas. Mind you there were zero people ahead of us in line and zero people behind us. It was a little before noon so it was not busy. Multiple people walked past us and of the 5 or 6 people who worked there, only one greeted us and several actively looked away to avoid helping. Very different from the greetings we used to get. It took three people to figure out how to ring up our order so we could pay and leave. We might not have minded such a long wait for just drinks but it was so uncomfortably warm that it felt like they didn't have air conditioning. There were 4 TINY rib tips and the hot link was shorter than an Oscar Mayer hot dog, albeit ever so slightly girthier, which, I'm told, is what really matters, but I digress... The small cup the fries were in and the two meat selections didn't even come close to filling one quarter of the quarter sized sheet pan it was served on. Rib tips were mostly cartilage and the hot link was dry. Speaks volumes when the frozen french fries were the star of the show. Charging $19.XX for that pan of disappointment is borderline criminal and they should be ashamed of themselves.
