    Cajun boil shrimp & grits
    Amanda M.

This place was recommended to us while visiting the area, and it ended up being our least favorite meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had our dog with us and asked to sit outside with her. They seated us in an area that wasn't as nice and was in the sun. We assumed this was because people with dogs might be seated separately, but we ended up seeing dogs elsewhere on the patio, too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A waitress came and started taking our drink order when another girl came up and yelled at her saying it was "her table." It was rather uncomfortable for us as the guests. The second girl who came ended up being our waitress for the rest of our time, and she did a poor job. She was friendly enough but rarely checked on us. She had our meals come out at separate times. She never offered our dog any water. All around bad service. Of course we got stuck paying the bill on the handheld device with her watching us put in the tip, which I hate. What we ordered was also disappointing. Our vanilla lattes tasted somewhat medicinal. We all had this same thought separately. Like a hospital protein shake. We tried the beignets and some shrimp and grits. The beignets were too doughy, and our shrimp and grits lacked flavor. We covered it with some hot sauce (which we had to get ourselves from another table) to help it. The shrimp in it were cooked well, but the crawfish were tough. Wouldn't order either dish again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It looks like a cute atmosphere on the inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Maybe other menu items are better and other servers do a better job. We wouldn't return though.

Happened upon the Lazy Oak for a lazy breakfast! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sat outside and it was so peaceful and lovely.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although the restaurant sits on a 2 way road in that neighborhood area... It is very peaceful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sitting outside made it more relaxing and the food was delish!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with the glazed beignets and my wholly dang if they weren't delicious!!! I could've bellied up to more of those, some crispy bacon and a cup of coffee and been done. But we ordered more food and stuffed our face with yumminess! Service was great too. Highly recommend this gem on the side of the road.

Oyster po boy with optional bread instead of biscuit. Was tasty.

I had high hopes for this place, but it didn't live up to it. In general, food was ok. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside and the flies were awful. It was to the point where our food was no longer appetizing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So we recommend sitting inside!!!!! My mimosa of the day was good!! My son got chicken and waffles it was good! My husband's friend oyster po boy was great! The fried oysters were tasty - cornmeal coated. I got one of the grits meals with chargrilled oysters. Grits & sauce were great. Oysters tasted bad - like not good. I should have said something but I didn't. I don't think we will not likely to go back. I will say service was good. Very attentive, especially for sitting outside.

We started at the bar to get French 75s that were awfully made. There was no brandy at all. The food service though was top notch. She was amazing and did so well trying to accommodate us through a hot brunch. The area we sat in was hot with no air circulation and the plates brought were all wet. Even the utensils were plastic. The appetizers of the candied bacon and beignets were a miss. The giant plate the bacon was on was completely slathered in maple syrup and the beignets were undercooked. The porter platter was actually quite good with the hot sausage and grits. My wife had the caprese omelette that was all right. Overall, its breakfast was good but everything else was mid.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is surprisingly huge on the inside as well as the outside, and it definitely stays busy on Saturdays and Sundays, but in a good way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have plenty of parking and tons of seating both inside and outside, so finding a spot is never an issue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was incredibly kind and attentive, which made the experience even better. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a bit cold inside, but I imagine that's intentional for when the crowds pick up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bathrooms could use a little extra attention, but honestly, the food more than makes up for it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The portions are huge, meals are around $14 and more than enough to take home leftovers. The prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food. Overall, a great spot with great value!

    The biscuits are BIG!

Found this lovely place on a search for non casino restaurants! We hit a jackpot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lazy oak has a folksy feel, and we were welcomed like family![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is an old home and full of characters.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was excellent too! And the biscuits are HUGE! Stop by and visit the Lazy Oak for a nice change of pace and a reasonably priced meal!

A giant pile of mainly eggs and some shrimp.

Found this place on yelp and knew I had to try it. I went to the website and checked the menu and saw pictures of a dish with a whole soft shell crab on top with shrimp and crawfish. Yum! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is very cute and the employees were very nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Here's where it went all wrong. I ordered the port and asked the waitress what she thought about it and she replied, "it's really good and huge!" Service was pretty quick so we got our food pretty quick. I tell the gentleman who delivered our food that I was so excited about my food! I noticed my soft shell crab was missing on top but I started digging into the huge pile of eggs looking for it and start eating. Never saw any crab so asked the waitress and she replied was it not on top? I said no. She left and a few moments later the same gentleman who delivered our food came back and said they sold out of soft shell crab and they gave me extra shrimp. I replied nicely that I was looking forward to the soft shell crab and he also replied nicely, yeah but that's why we gave you extra shrimp. No offer to change my order, a discount, maybe a dessert or anything. Why would you change up my order without informing me before hand? Definitely not how business should be handled. Our bill after tipping 20% was about $52 for two people for brunch. Definitely not worth it. Will not be back.

The best beignets I've ever eaten in my life!

The food was good good good. My friend and I wanted to make a stop here before we left town. It didn't disappoint. I ordered the BISTREAUX BURGER oak biscuit burger bacon medium egg cheddar jack cheese I the works I candied bacon aiolo. I ordered toast instead of the biscuit. The fries were so amazing , they look like a paddle. My friend ordered CHILI BANG BANG grits I frled shrimp or oysters 1 thai chill drizzle green onlon. She enjoyed her meal. Our server was very helpful and really fun. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was laid back and a peaceful vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I cant wait yo come back here. I highly recommend

    Boudin balls

This was our first visit to the restaurant, and we noticed that parking was quite crowded, likely because we arrived during brunch hours. Fortunately, we only had to wait about five minutes to be seated, and our waitress was quick to greet us. We ordered an appetizer and our main dishes, but they came out at the same time, which wasn't ideal. I thought the food was good, but my partner didn't enjoy it as much. I really liked the boudin balls since it was my first time trying them, but my partner found them too soggy inside. The shrimp and crawfish grits were tasty, but the crawfish was a bit overcooked and chewy. My husband ordered an omelet with crab, but he didn't like it. It seemed like the omelet had been sitting out for a while, and the crab didn't taste fresh. We also tried the beignets, which were okay for my first time tasting them. Overall, the food was average, and the atmosphere felt very family-friendly, but nothing extraordinary. We might come back to try other dishes in the future.

Since it was around 10 and having already eaten something, I decided on Brunch and ordered the Cuban Sandwich and for my side I got a house salad. It was a very good sandwich cooked just right. I really liked the meat and pickles. The salad was fresh and pretty decent too. The place has indoor and outdoor seating, but we are in Ocean Springs, so sit inside! The place was clean and organized well. A lot of places to sit in a small dining room. Thank you Fat Spoon and Lucy for another good day in Mississippi!

I ordered the flavored champagne flight during brunch and specifically asked for very light syrup because the drinks are usually extremely sweet. When the flight came out, it tasted exactly the same as the regular version -- overwhelmingly sweet to the point that I genuinely could not drink it. When I politely mentioned it, the bartender/manager said "that's just how it comes" and initially refused to do anything about it. I sent the flight back and ordered a plain glass of champagne instead. Our server told us she would speak to the manager and have her come talk to us, but apparently the manager refused multiple times because she was "too busy." Eventually, the same flight was brought back out after they said they had poured some out and added more champagne on top. Unfortunately, it was still far too sweet, and I still couldn't drink two of the four glasses. What disappointed me most wasn't even the drinks -- it was the customer service. Mistakes happen, but the dismissive attitude from management and lack of concern made the experience frustrating and uncomfortable. The server also seemed irritated at being caught in the middle rather than interested in resolving the situation. I still tipped 20% because I know serving isn't easy, but after today I honestly don't see myself coming back.

First thing when I walked in the door, that's what I heard. I should've turned around and walked out right there. The hummus was without flavor, but I'm used to fresh robust flavors in my authentic hummus. The pita was clearly left on the counter without being covered and so it was chewy, stale, reminiscent of a dog eating a rawhide and not edible. Hard pass. Even though our server was very pleasant, there was extreme inconsistencies coming from the kitchen that could not be resolved. With the owner sitting at the front table and the daughter at the front desk, there was clearly a sense of tenseness throughout the establishment. After being in the Mediterranean myself, this is not a Mediterranean restaurant and it confuses me for it to say Mexican on the menu. I'll try back in another eight years.
