This is a share branch. If you are not familiar with the term, this location allows members from numerous other credit unions to use it for limited services. There is a large parking lot and two ATMs . There is an outdoor walk up window as well with limited hours. Staff are helpful. I am not a member of LBS so I can't say much about their products. i had some very rude agents making everything harder than it needed to be. bad attitudes poor customer care and lack of professional competence. i dont know how heather got to be a manager of the branch. shes angry,nasty, rude and inexperienced in communication skills. she yelled at me over nothing. its their job to listen, not try to control people and how they feel. very unprofessional wont forget the experience over there after all of that. overall service is not good. they dont put the customer first. they tell you wrong information. i wont recommend them, glad im leaving. i am an actual customer lbs. had my car loan with them for years this is a valid review. read more

This place is terrible. They put holds on every one of my checks although I've never had one not go through, I've been banking with these people for years, and I've had the same employer for years. I have to call this bank every week to get them to release my funds to me. Not only that, I have to do that today -- and the phones are down. So I deposited my check and these people are holding my money hostage, basically. I wish these people would answer their phones. Josie Truong listened to our story and provided us with a variety of options to choose from to best meet our needs. She was very friendly and down to earth. I found out about this place through my credit union, which is actually out of state. Since I've been coming here, I've had great experiences. The parking lot has plenty of spaces to park, the outside teller was super useful and way faster to deposit and withdraw money than going inside (but Covid made it shut down, I guess) and the tellers and guards and employees are all nice and helpful. LBS CU in Newport Beach has rude management. Single teller talks endlessly about which accounts to draw funds from while customers wait in line. If customer doesn't know which account to draw funds from they need to talk to someone sitting at a desk. Actually the place has several people at desks doing nothing. Single Teller is obtuse and deliberately controls other customers ability to make simple transactions. Also the ATM in not their responsibility. Apparently a third party is responsible for the total lack of service. The machine for years malfunctioned repeatedly. Machine is prone to not reading your money which it does not return to customers. Furthermore the Newport office manager Jennifer did not respond to my verbal complaint until I contacted LBS Financial Corporate management who followed up the issue that the LBS Financial did not return my cash which the machine could not read. I sought advice from Chase who issued the new bills I deposited on Thursday. To be clear no effort was made until Corporate managers contacted Newport. The main issue still remains open. Newport personnel would not provide a paper trail that the LBS ATM refused to return my new currency from Chase. Newport is required to provide a form to document that the ATM failed to return my cash or record the deposit. Newport personnel stated that the ATM responsibility was under a third party. I was issued a receipt from LBS which Newport refused to accept. The ATM machine according to my credit union branch I sent the deposit to was listed as an LBS ATM. Newport personnel ignored my issue until Corporate managers stepped in. I went another credit union in the network Monday who handled the deposit with a teller and provided forms upfront to document the deposit. Newport refused to accept teller deposits for months to the other credit union in the Network and required me to deposit using the faulty ATM for months. Newport personnel only keep one window open while staff sits at their desks. Often the single teller spends lengthy time advising customers at length which accounts are best to draw funds from. Newport personnel are obtuse to their customers. That will continue. read more

Iig i Could give them a half a start I would! have been with this credit union for over 20 years. I have had so much fraud on my account it's ridiculous. Someone somewhere cloned my card and PIN number. They deposited a a stolen check into my account and tried to withdrawal money from my account. My fault for not paying attention to the deposit thinking it was a bonus that I was waiting for from my 2nd job. I spent the money as usual paying bills and day to day living expenses. The way the fraud department handled this situation was ridiculous. First I went to deposit money in my account through the ATM and was not able too. I went into the bank and asked why my card wasn't working. The person I spoke to said that I had to speak to the fraud department. This Was a Friday and my acct was locked. I called the fraud department because no one let me know what was going on. They just locked my account. I had to wait until Monday to talk to someone. I understand this is their job, but the way I was treated was uncalled for. Finally on Monday David called me and said that my account was locked because of fraud and that I needed to pay the money back. David accused me of being involved in this fraud. It took the bank 31 days to realize that it was fraud. The bank only found out because the check bounced back, He accused me of depositing someone else's check in my account. I told him to look at the cameras. He said we will. So, you lock me out of my account and you don't investigate before you call me back? David has horrible customer service skills. I asked to speak to his manager. His VP Maria was no help either. I complained about David and told her how he made me feel like a criminal the way David spoke to me. She defended him and said well when there's fraud most of the time the account holder is involved. I told her this is not the case. Again, defending David. I asked to speak to her manager. Another VP who was useless. Jeff also accused me of fraud. He looked at my account and said well you have had 18 news debit cards on this account. I said it's because I keep having fraud on my card. Idk what that had to do with anything? Jeff also made me feel like a Criminal when I was the victim. I had no problem paying the money back. My issue is the way they made me feel. The fraud department is a joke. Another thing that David said to me when I said I was going to make a police report. He said I can do that but the police won't do anything. I also asked Jeff for an apology letter and I'm still waiting. I will be closing my account as well as all my family members that have accounts there. I was processing a home equity loan application and I felt very unassisted by staff. It seemed to me that they were simply looking for ways to back out of the deal instead of ways they could help me. Josie Truong was polite but very direct. I told her I needed a faster closing and she said she could not work faster and then flat out refused to process my paperwork when she realized I had an ADU and a JADU on the property. She claimed to be saving me money because I would not go through the appraisal process but instead she wasted a week of my time in which I could have found a lender that looked for solutions and not excuses. read more

LBS Federal Credit Union refuses to submit the name change request I sent them (with payment included) to update the loan to my legal name. This is how you do business?? I've been with this bank for the last 12 or so years. If it's one thing, it's consistent and I appreciate it and it's staff. Previously I was with Wells Fargo who absolutely ROB you with compounding hidden fees. I haven't had any issues with my basic checking/savings here. And I just got off the phone with Fatima in their call center after my web browser (Opera) was having issues and locked out. She was exceptionally helpful in restoring my account to me. Super friendly and warm. Patient. And when I told her I was shopping for a high interest savings account, not only broke that down with ease, but also taught me about money market accounts and current certificates in a way where I didn't miss a single word. I went in today to deposit a check I received as a birthday gift from a family member. I had misplaced it and did not know there was a time limit on checks. As it is being immunocompromised I don't leave the house often to stay safe, especially in red tier covid times. The branch manager was rude and condescending to me telling me that the check was expired and that I would get a fee. When I asked her if this was a credit union policy or federal, she became very rude with her tone. Just because I wanted information in no way called for her to act this way. While she was reiterating the policy the teller was smirking and almost laughing. I don't appreciate this and will no longer be banking at this branch. Been with you for two decades. I have financed three cars with you. Having just refinanced my car, I haven't received any actual hardcopies.... I didn't have an address or assurance that I had paid my bill from my account. I also wanted your full zip code. The person who answered the phone from the very beginning sounded irritated. He had that tone of boredom and lack of listening skills. I have never been unhappy with you ....always gotten good answers .....refinanced on the phone! but truly surprised that someone answers the phone in your companies name who has so little skill in dealing with customers. I like this place. Just by looking at it from the outside in, and having the one-to-one customer service is actually a great relief for me than to deal with the financial institutions that try to fit the modern mold of banking. Upon walking in, there is your security guard and a front desk for information. Having someone at the front is helpful especially when you have a quick question like asking for your account number. There are no empty desks, so you know someone is always working at it. And there is a feeling of home when these desks have pictures of families. Service is quick. I suggest you don't obtain the HELOC with this company, it will take you almost forever but never done! My friend he applied the HELOC with LBSFCU and waiting more than a month but nothing happened, he told me people in this bank very lazy, sometimes they look at the file and asked him for some more documents, they keep repeating that way back and forth but never finalize his loan. And now he can't go to another bank because they already checked his credit and now his credit score already went down!!! read more

I would avoid this bank at all costs. Very old school system and caused many delays in my closing of escrow. Specifically, Closing will be delayed because of their wire transfer system. They use a separate company to complete wire transfers because they are a "small bank" per the gentleman on the service phone line. I have been unhappy with most services especially the few times I have had fraud issues in the past (you have to fill out a request paper and send it to them). But this tipped the iceberg for me. Now that I live out of state its even harder to complete tasks with them. Unfortunately, I will be moving my business with another credit union that can complete requests in a timely matter. read more
