I have been with this bank for 20+ years and their new fraud detection algorithm or third party vendor keeps locking my account without cause. . This has happened several times in crucial times. I've called to provide the feedback and nothing is done. This is disappointing because if they invested in good resources this would not occur. She called back within the hour to let me know she found them, and arranged for me to pick them up the next morning. It's convenient and close to a lot of businesses but parking is very bad. I waited 2 minutes or more at the stop sign just to find parking. Lady behind me got impatient and decided to go around which causes more congestion in the drive way because of the opposing traffic. What a mess!!! Must be my bad luck day. I have been a member since (I think) 1996. Recently I inquired about a home mortgage and had the best experience with the whole team there! It took about 8 months to find a home because the market is so crazy. However, each time I reached out, Josie Truong was always encouraging and so great answering all of my questions. She quickly set up the login for me to upload all the necessary documents and put together my pre approval letter so I had everything ready to go. Once my offer was approved, Josie then enrolled Angela Favela and her team to complete the loan funding process. Everything was easy and I felt completely taken care of! Lbs...archaic, what era are you in, can you get to the 21st century bank! I've never had much success with them making a payment on my motorcycle loan. Having said that I'm always late, but hey they make the extra money on the late fee and a 7.00 processing fee for over the phone bill pay. So I recently downloaded their app, woohoo they have an app. It's ok, nothing to get excited about. Cause I can't use it! No tab to put in my payment info. They tell me to go to the web site, I did that, and I click bill payment, it shows me my loan. And I can't put in my info to make the payment!! I call the gal said I have to wait for the page to update. 5k and I'm done with them. Worst technological company I have ever dealt with. But they are the nicest people on the phone. I would be too with their salaries. Pffft This is an update. Just found out I can electronically make the payment over the phone. Still costs me 7.00 extra dollars. Western union. Yesterday at approximately 4:30p I came in and had some money my son had to deposit. I ended up depositing about $800 in 1,5,10,20's . Well let me tell you guys my clerk was "Jasmine " She was super friendly and not once got frustrated On the line build up or her having to count and ensure the snout was correct she was counting . Very professional and patient love the focus on her member service . I can't image having that pressure of counting money , line building up but also interacting with the member while they watch you count there deposit oh and doing it all with a smile . I have to say that I am genuinely impressed by the level of customer service I received at this branch. Grace Lagarde is an exceptional employee with absolutely great customer service. I have a new car loan with this bank and this was the first time I had ever been to this branch. It's been nearly 12 yrs since I bank with them. I had a 17% car loan interest rate and brought it over to LBS and they dropped it down to 4% then additional .25% with auto payment. My car jumped from 17% to 3.75%!!! Thanks to Dewin who is no longer working with them. So far I have gotten good experience with them. On my birthday twice my account was frozen due to some fraud and it took a few days to get it back but I got it back. Unlike Chase who couldn't track who stole my husband money and he had to shut down his account and came here. But so far---keep it up. My favorite location. read more

Worst service ever.. Being helped by Koumis Boosalis is like getting ir tooth pulled out.

It's been nearly 6 months since I last tried to use the ATM here, and even though David S. from LBSFCU said that my review would be sent off and the problem would not happen again... I STILL CANNOT DEPOSIT MY PAYCHECK IN TO THE ATM. Oh, it gets better though. My wife tried to deposit cash in to the ATM -and it wouldn't take it. CASH. So the Automated Teller Machine will not allow deposits of cash or checks. My options are to leave work and lose time off my paycheck to go in to the branch, or to use the app and wait up to a week for funds to be available. Seriously, bring back the envelopes! At least then the machines were useful. read more

I've been a member of this FI for nearly 40 years and am pretty much sick and tired of every time I decide to take some time off from work, I have to burn a day getting my account straightened out because LBSFCU has decided to turn off my Visa debit card due to suspected fraud. I've never had a bad experience here. I use the branch on 10th Street in Long Beach - but because I live in San Pedro I do most of my banking either on-line or by phone. Every single time I've needed anything, literally anything, they've bent over backwards to help me. I'd much rather use a credit union than a chain bank like Bank of America or Wells Fargo. When I was getting my home loan LBSFCU my real estate agent was impressed at their carefulness (which did slow the process down a bit). Got approved for a used vehicle loan for the blue book value amount of 18,200. I sat on it and the loan approval expired a few days ago which is was fine because I knew I'd get approved again. Not to waste time I had the seller drive down from Chatsworth to get it all done and finalized at once. Well now they say the blue book value is $14,000. Same vin, I put 2000 miles on the vehicle from the original approval. Kelley's blue book even shows $18500. How are you going to approve for $18000 then 60 days later only do $14,000. They wouldn't honor the other approval amount that just explored. Went to another credit union I deal with and got approved for the blue book value of 18,500. Closing my checking and savings account here. read more

Los Altos Branch wasn't listed on Yelp? How can this be? It is actually the one whispered about in lines at other LBS locations. The rumor is that they are polite, and speedy quick. Well they are, except when a tweeker chick is at a counter having a meltdown because she let her account zero out for quite some time and must have the five dollars she is sure is still in savings. As she's told that she has to come back with proper ID and it will take 24 hours to fix the situation. Yep, there was some shouting and she was pissed about her five dollars. So pissed that she told three other people -- who had overheard the whole situation. I really have to hand it to the staff at LBS. They were calm, repeatedly told her what 2 steps she needed to do to fix the situation, and no one rolled their eyes, and the security guard in the lobby was not called over. They are a local institution and they know life isn't easy and people have all types of tempers. I guess its nice to be a local in Long Beach doing the things locals do and supporting the businesses and credit unions that act like they are local too. read more
