Definitely not a destination dining spot but, if you find yourself stuck in the casino and need a quick and decently cheap meal it will do in a pinch. Burger Joint replaced the Burger King in Ameristar Casino a few years ago and it definitely is an upgrade. Also, the price isn't too far off since it seems that it is hard to leave a fastfood restaurant paying less than ten to twelve dollars a meal. It wasn't too late on a Wednesday night but, the sports bar was closed because it's operating hours are only Thursday through Sunday and the steakhouse was closing up shop and the Mexican offering inside the casino is dismal at best so I beelined for the burger joint on the far side of the casino near the movie theater. I kept it simple with a double patty burger with all the usual condiments as well as cheese and their house sauce. The total was a little over ten dollars with tax, and mind you that's casino tax as well. The order was ready promptly, within ten minutes, and everything tatsed fresh and up to par. The vegetables weren't mushy, which is always a no-no when it comes to tomatoes and lettuce especially. The pickles added a nice tang however the shape, long instead of pickle chips, made taking a bite of the burger and pickle tricky. The cheese was classic american so the flavor was lacking but the melt factor was there. The bun was fresh and seemed to be steamed and buttered, reminded me of a ball park hamburger bun. And now onto the actual meat of the burger, well what can you say? It was just alright, it was almost a smash burger style but a little thicker however, you could tell this wasn't quality meat. It kind of tasted like McDonald's, a little ironic since The King's castle used to be here. Now do I prefer Burger Joint over Burger King? In theory yes, in actual essence they are essentially pretty similar in price and quality. However, I can't speak on any burger on the menu except the most basic of basic burgers and even then it's not like I left thinking "why did I just eat that" which to be honest sometimes I definitely leave BK thinking so, I guess Burger Joint is superior to Burger King, just don't tell the King I told you that.

Food is great prices are amazing but what made me write this review is a beautiful lady named TINA that works there. She was amazing and super nice. With her smile she made everyone's day. Thank you Tina

So we spent almost 2 full days in this bar/restaurant. This is only full restaurant with sports bar food. Service was sporadic "ok", evening and day time. If you want chicken fingers, pizza and burgers while you wait for concerts or games this is your place.

Double smash burger with pepper jack cheese. The food is great, not your typical burger place you can actually taste the other ingredients.

Kind of takes the beat of Burger King and Wendy's and smashes it together.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like stepping into a neighborhood deli back in Northeast. The smell alone tells you you're in the right place. The sandwiches? Huge. No skimping, no shortcuts. The meats are sliced right, the bread actually has character (crispy where it should be, soft inside), and everything tastes fresh and intentional. I ordered an Italian steak, and let me tell you--this is the kind of food that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. Perfect balance of meats, cheese, oil, and seasoning. Nothing overpowering, nothing missing. Just right. The staff is warm and welcoming, like they actually care if you enjoy your food (which matters). It's the kind of place where you feel comfortable, not rushed, and definitely well-fed. Johnny C's isn't trying to be trendy or fancy--it's doing what matters: good, honest deli food done right. If you're craving something that feels authentic and satisfying, this place delivers. I'll be back. And if I'm coming back, trust me--that's saying something.

Bay Boy is THAT Boy! I'm thrilled to have another location of Bay Boy in the Northland, which is…read moresuch an up and coming neighborhood. This Bay Boy is a small window located inside The Commons which is connected to Cinderblock Brewery but, don't be fooled by its small stature it still carries the full menu of the West Plaza location. The one thing it boasts is you can grab a brew from with The Commons bar or from Cinderblock while your sandwich is crafted. And don't fret because these sandwiches are well worth any wait they may take! What makes Bay Boy utterly unforgettable is the Dutch crunch bread. This unique crackly slightly crunchy but still, oh so pillowy soft bread is the perfect vessel to hold all the fillings of any of the sandwiches on the extensive menu. My number one recommendation sadly is not always on the menu but if you catch it you better order it! It is called The Blue Blaze and it consists of juicy white meat turkey, peppery arugula, melty mild white cheddar and locally sourced spicy blueberry jam. It's the perfect combination of sweet and savory with a kick. Another winner is the Wagyu Nebraskan if you want a bougie take on a Rueben. The Wagyu corned beef is locally sourced and is melt in your mouth paired with a slightly sweet kraut, nutty Swiss cheese and the tangy thousand island this sandwich is an elevated take on a classic. Another winner, well let's just face it any sandwich at Bay Boy is a winner winner chicken dinner (in the words of the iconic Guy Fieri), but let's focus on another rift of a classic sandwich the El Jefe. This is Bay Boy's take on a Cubano but unlike its predecessor the bread isn't flat or pressed it's on a Dutch crunch roll like every sandwich on the menu. The mojo pork is buttery and fatty- in a good way- making the meat so moist that combined with salty ham, melted Swiss and zingy briny pickles makes for a killer combination. Don't forget the mustard! And how Bay Boy makes it there own is with an addition of a zesty vibrant red pepper sauce. You can't help but to love El Jefe. I could go on and on about how each sandwich is unparalleled but, I'll just bore you with one more...The Bay Boy, I couldn't cover Bay Boy's without mentioning the sandwich that the restaurant was named after (or was it the other way around) anyways it doesn't matter. The Bay Boy is a cold sandwich (unlike the other ones I mentioned which are all toasty) which may sound simple but, the medley of flavors is paired down perfection. No pile of meats just stand alone Soppressata which shouldn't need any introduction because it's the superior salami. This sandwich gets sauced down with not one, not two but four sauces that make the sandwich anything but dry. Classic mayo and mustard are alongside a creamy pungent garlic sauce and a red pepper sauce, which is a mix of cherry and banana peppers. Then produce is added for freshness, think lettuce, tomato and zippy raw red onions (my personal favorite) with pickles of course! This truly is a sandwich masterpiece.

Finally made it over to Bay Boy in North Kansas City inside the Commons and yeah... I get why…read morepeople keep talking about it. It's a walk-up window, super lowkey, but the food is not playing. I got a turkey sandwich with gouda and peppers, added blueberry jam, and grabbed a bag of chips on the side. The bread is really what sets it off. Crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, and it actually holds everything together. The turkey and gouda were solid, peppers gave it a little bite, and that blueberry jam added just enough sweetness to balance everything out without being weird about it. I paused after the first bite because it caught me off guard in a good way. Finished the whole thing, chips and all. Simple setup, really good food, and I'll absolutely be back.
