This is a good spot in both summer and winter months, and the extent that the patio is open will vary depending. Good spot to go with friends. I'm not a fan of Le Bain because of their inability to communicate with the crowds. My group waited in line for 50 minutes before being notified at the door that there was a private event and that we wouldn't get in. Like what?! I'm totally fine with them for holding a private event, but like tell the people in line? Have some signage that says "private event: invite only" or something like that. Having some foresight would save a lot of people time and a tedious experience. We weren't the only group that found out about this at-the-door too. Poor job handling that night. read more

I love going here and always take my friends here when they are visiting, but unfortunately yesterday was a different story. I have made reservations for this weekend when they became available a month ago for an outside table for 6 people. My friends were visiting and I wanted to take them so I planned very far in advance to make it happen. When I saw it was supposed to rain, I immediately changed the reservation to indoors and got an email confirmation that we had been moved successfully indoors. I then for a text the morning of saying our reservation was cancelled because of weather. I panicked and called the hotel who proceeded to tell me they saw our reservation still in the system for 6 people inside and that we would be fine to attend and the text was a glitch. When I showed up with my friends, we were turned away and told we weren't on a reservation and they couldn't accommodate us. The hostess was extremely unhelpful and failed to acknowledge that it was their fault. Just ridiculous I had the reservation for a month and got confirmation hours before that our reservation was good to go, only to show up and be turned away and so disregarded by the staff. There were no apologies, no offers to make another reservation, just a "we don't have room." I definitely will never be coming back here and do not recommend relying on reservations because apparently they don't uphold them. read more

The views from the rooftop are amazing, the seating on the topmost floor is very relaxed. The club can be hard to get into during peak hours. Came on Friday night to celebrate a friends bday. At the door we overheard that you needed to be on some djs list to get in. So of course my friend flashes her cleavage and the bouncers let us in regardless of being on the list or not. Coat check is free. Le Bain has two floors. One is more loungey with a dance floor and then there's the rooftop. Drinks are insanely expensive. Three seltzer skyy vodkas were 51$. Canned and bottled beers were like 8-10$. The bartender mixed up my credit card with someone else's and I didn't realize this until the following day so that sucked. (I honestly don't know how that happened since I always close out after ordering). Music was subpar. Views were great. I'd come back when it's warmer out but I wouldn't say this is my favorite spot in meatpacking. read more

I'm not somebody to leave a negative review, as I am always the one to give the benefit of the doubt in a high-stress high-volume environment. I've worked in nightlife for years and managed conference hotels and resorts, there is no excuse for the way I was treated today. I believe her name was Katty, or Caddy, but she was the host at the door checking tickets and letting people in for this evenings Tom Of Finland party. She seemed to have absolutely no rhyme or reason to her method. First, she tells me to pull up my ticket, so I show her the confirmation.. She follows up with "sorry, your name isn't in the system." I tell her that's makes no sense because I have the confirmation right in front of her. She proceeds to tell me to download the app, so I do and respectfully step aside for 5 minutes. That woman stared me straight in the face, while I had my QR code on the screen, and visible for her. She says, repetitively, "wait a moment." This moment was nearly 30 minutes. I felt dismissed, disrespected and completely invisible to her. What made it even better was I show her my QR code, and she proceeds to let others pass before me. Up until a group behind me shows her theirs.. and mind you, this is all GA. The entire crew does not even HAVE tickets, but she takes the time with them, STAMPS their hands, ignores mine... proceeds to let all seven of them in... and again, says "please wait a moment." At that point I had it. I made my point clear that I waited on line for almost an hour, and was intentionally ignored for a half an hour trying to access and that I would like to leave... she looks at me, and lifts the rope. Now if only she had put in that much effort to just open the door.... All I have to say is you don't know what people are going through in their life, and sometimes all they need is a night to dance away, I wasn't given that because of her lack of good service and equal treatment to all of this evenings patrons. Is this the ultimate stamp in my "NYC Garbage Person" card? That remains to be seen. What I do know, however, is that I had a great time here. Came on a weeknight and went right up to the hot tub area. There was a line outside but I slinked right past like I owned the place and headed straight to the water. Gave my boyfriend my credit card and told him to order us some drinks while I stripped down to my bodysuit and got in. The water is chlorinated AF and that's fine with me since you're pretty much bathing in the soup of other bodies. It may not be an activity for the germaphobic but having lived here for seven years, I think my immune system can handle it. ;) There weren't many people in the hot tub and the crowd was mostly Euro tourists and the Insta-selfie crowd. They didn't bother me at all and hopefully, I didn't bother them either. Drinks weren't cheap but weren't unreasonable at ~$14.00 either considering the kind of real estate you're renting. The views were plentiful and it was certainly a cool experience lounging in a giant hot tub on top of a Meatpacking District rooftop. The free towels are a nice touch. Not sure why people complain about this spot. Maybe they got the "velvet rope" treatment on a weekend. But I had a great time. read more

Trendy rooftop bar in the city right near The High Line. I love that this place has an indoor and outdoor section. The indoor is cute and has a small pool--which I thought was a nice unique feature. However, keep in mind that this place is best for drinking only. There is no food here other than a small crepé booth on the top floor. As far as the drinks, if there are enough people interested in one drink then the pitcher is definitely the best route. I love the views from both floors and the bathroom is really nice and clean as well--Big plus for me. The music was not all that though, it was more like background music so if you're looking to vibe to the music this may not be the place. Also, the space is not very big and can easily get crowded so you may not get seats--especially since they don't let you move the seats from the tables even if they're not being used :/. They didn't mention anything and everything was alright. We went there and the fucking Chinese guy didn't let us in unless if we have an invitation!! We're visiting NYC how the hell we get invited?! I've had a great time all three times I've been here, mostly owing to the eclectic mix of sights and sounds, including but not limited to: - A stunning rooftop view - A weird mix of eurotrash/older men dancing awkwardly, thin leggy model types standing there waiting for said men to buy them drinks, and lost and confused out of towners looking at the dance floor in a daze - The odd placement of a pool and the prospect of someone just diving in and mooning the crowd Le Bain is in Meatpacking for a reason. It's not nice. It's snobby. It's bumpin. It's sweaty. It's the epitome of the worst of NYC. Don't be a regular. Visit Le Bain once in a while to be delighted and disgusted at the same time. Awesome views from Le Bain in MeatPacking, no matter at night or during the day! Have only been here at night for the bar and dancing, but the views are awesome and the crowd is usually pretty hyped to be there. One of the cheaper covers for dancey rooftop bars in MeatPacking ($5), and it's bumpin' on Fridays and Saturdays. Never had a problem getting in, and although I've never gotten a cocktail here the beers are served ice cold and at a standard price for MeatPacking ($9 for a Stella). read more

So, this is a cool place, undeniably. Sweeping city views, nice water sunset views, trendy crowd, expensive (tasty) drinks, etc. As far as roof top views, this is one of the top 3 I have been to. I came here, most recently, with a group of 4 girl friends. We split a pitcher of cucumber sangria (good) and snagged a coveted table by the water. Our waitress was awesome. I think a pitcher was 60 bucks, but it was easily 2 drinks a person, so it seemed, (at the end of the night) to be a pretty fair deal. I like crepes and they have good ones here (for around 7 bucks). There is a jacuzzi/pool when you first walk in, and people were in it - like dancing in it. I am perhaps a slight germaphobe (like, I don't need to wash my hands after petting your dog, but I will need to wash my hands after holding a subway pole) and I think I would not get into this little pool ever. You can buy a bikini on the fly though, if you are into that. Overall, very "cool" spot. Honestly, I get a little overwhelmed at places that are super "scene" and this place is sceney. I feel most comfortable in a dive bar with chill music playing, this place is the opposite of that. The views though, are worth it. I saw multiple people get turned down at the door, even on a Wednesday evening. When we arrived, a group of girls in front of us got turned away and 2 guys got turned down. This bouncer is serious, folks. My takeaways: dress nicely, go early, drink sangria, enjoy the view. This place is worth checking out at least once. read more

We were turned away by the bitchy queen at the door because we didn't have women with us (as if gay couples always travel with a gaggle of girls). Cool venue but when my group arrived around 4pm on a Saturday, there was a couple having sex in the hot tub..fully nude and they clearly liked the attention everybody was giving them. My girlfriend's party of six (two women, four men) were turned down for having a bad ratio of guys to girls (even though a group of four white men in-front of them were allowed to enter). My girlfriend called the manager about this and the manager reassured her that there is no m/f ratio filter of sorts. I called to complain about the discrimination seen at the door and was told that Le Bain strives for diversity from the guy over the phone expressing a generic, progressive, liberal stick. He also told me that he's ethnic himself and that he can get into Le Bain; which is laughable considering he's employed there. The issue was written off by deferring the situation to "door man's digression" which is a pretty pathetic catch all. I wanted to complain to corporate about this incident. STANDARD INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT, LLC claims that Le Bain operates outside of Standard International, yet there is no record for `Le Bain' under NYS Division of Corporations, go figure. read more

Came here at around 4:30 on a Saturday evening. Having been here twice before I was looking forward to a gorgeous view and good drinks with a group of my friends in celebration of my birthday. We get to the door and half my group (there was about 15 of us) were told to get out of the line because they weren't going to be let in. They asked why and the "manager" named Dana Doyle told her it was because one of my girlfriends was too drunk. Mind you, we hadn't had one drink at this point. I stayed in line with the rest of my group and when we got to the door they told us they weren't letting us in either. I asked why and Dana Doyle said "We arn't hosting groups that large today" At this point there was FIVE of us. I told her we would be happy to enter at different times and she still wouldn't let us in. She continued to speak to me incredibly condescendingly and was very very rude. She was enough reason for me and my party of 20 to never return here. It's amazing to me they wouldn't let us in knowing we each would've spent at the very least $100 each for drinks. It wasn't even late night or crowded so it was very bizarre. To include more details, my whole party was very nicely dressed- men in button downs women in dresses- and no ones face looks like an asshole. There was no reason we shouldn't have gotten in but above everything is there is ABSOLUTELY no reason why the "manager" Dana Doyle should've been so incredibly rude to us. Sometimes I wonder if people actually stay in the Standard Hotel or if it's just a collection of floors with different bars, restaurants, lounges, and nightclubs... Either way, this addition to their nightlife properties launched on the scene early last summer. Since then, it's been growing in popularity and with it comes all the B&T droves that collect along the cobblestones in MePa. While the door guys typically require a password, host name or cold hard cash to pass the velvet ropes, inside can be dissapointing. Back in the earlier days of pool parties and scantily chicks, it was a fun and semi-secret getaway where you could dance all night with a spectacular view of the west side. On a recent visit I had to do a few double takes: striped body suit and a fur vest? Early nineties grind dancing? Jersey Shore fist pumping? Uh oh. The overpriced drinks are at least strong and the right party can be quite fun here. As a general place to start a dance party with a group of friends, I'd call it a-okay. But my point was that there was a lot of synthetic fog in the air. So, I can't say that I remember much. We had to leave because some girl wouldn't stop talking to me about my book, and I have a lady friend so I don't get down with groupies. Sorry. Not my style. Le Boom. We finally get to the front of the line and we tell them how big our party is. 8 people. (half girls half guys by the way) And all of a sudden, "oh no no, you need an invitation, it's invitation only". Lies. We try and try, politely then sternly. But no dice. They don't let us in and dismiss us like we should have known all along. My only consolation is that they didn't let anyone in after us as well. Makes me think that the club was just full. Look - I get that meatpacking clubs are supposed to be bellittling. There's money to be made in making you feel crappy about your choices, your clothes, your friends, etc. It's probably not fair to fault a place for falling in line with the rest of its vacuous, overpriced counterparts. But that being said, this place excels in that special brand of meatpacking douchebaggery that's as exhausting as it is predictable. It starts with the door, where you're faced with a Kafkaesque swarm of people around one bored looking bouncer (again, I told you this place was predictable). Unless you're a Russian oligarch or footlocker employee blowing your entire paycheck, you'll have to wait in line, only to notice that this an essentially fruitless endeavor as you'll be cut by a swath of 16 year old girls with their dad's Amex. Once (if) you actually get in, it's yet another line (this place is rivaled only by goddamn Disneyland in the number of lines you stand in) to go upstairs, where you can finally take in the admittedly spectacular view and skivvy hot tub in the middle of the dancefloor. The bartenders have that slightly pained look that suggests that they have about 8 braincells between 3 of them, and will demand an 8 dollar tip for the Herculean task of pouring a beer into a glass with the charming threat that they will completely ignore you if not. But if you make it through all that, you do get to dance with tourists and B&Ters until the sun comes up. Bliss. read more

The top of the standard cocktail lounge -- that part was amazing. Great views, great cocktails, a classy atmosphere. Le Bain....not so much. It was as another reviewer said..a HOT MESS. My friends and I were celebrating a birthday and most of us got in because we know, arrive early, well dressed and with a nice mixed crowd of ladies and gentleman. When we did get in, the bartender took forever to serve us even though there were maybe 5 people at the bar. He constantly overlooked us. Then I tried to go to the rooftop bar to get more room and out of the "trendy" music zone. Unfortunately the bar was closed all night. How about they let someone know on their website or when I call that the rooftop was closed, especially when I called ahead to make sure that it was open. Lastly, the crowd was a mix of pretentious and confused. I have never wanted to get out of a place quicker. If you are looking for a rooftop experience that is amazing where everyone is nice and they actually serve you because you are paying a sh*t ton of money for drinks and a good time, go to Gallow Green. I had an unforgettable night at Le Bain last Tuesday. Susanne Bartsch organized a party with a performance by the legendary Amanda Lepore (if you don't know her, google her) and a beautiful bunch of New York club kids. The club itself isn't that big, which I actually prefer. The view from inside and especially from the rooftop terrace is simply stunning. We started the night sitting outside, drinking prosecco ($12/glass) and listening to the music when suddenly I looked to my left and saw Amanda Lepore doing a topless photo shoot a couple of seats from me. Fabulous! Minutes later the camera flashes were joined by lightning in the distance and we were all asked to go inside. All the eccentric performers treated us with their club acts and the DJs played an amusing mix of disco oldies and cheerful electronica. More prosecco was ordered, new friendships were established, the dance floor was thoroughly used... in short: it was a night to remember! read more
