The Seville is such a vibe starting at 7pm for the live music. The ambiance is so sexy and it's great for date night or just with friends. The music was great, but the food was amazing. We ordered the black cod that was so delicious and buttery it was def one of the best I've had in the city. I brought my mom with me and she also thought it was delicious. The beet salad is also very tasty and the salmon sushi roll they have is also very good. The bread was so good!! We ordered a few martinis and had a really good time. Stumbled into this place after having dinner at the Hotel restaurant- let me tell you - this place was a gem !! We didn't expect to be seated as it was crowded - but after a very short wait - we were escorted in to couch seating in perfect view of the performer - the night we went Greg Banks was performing - swear to you he sounded just like Maxwell - when he took a short break he even stopped at the tables to take pix with anyone who wanted. The place is super cute and chic and is def a vibe - the service from the moment we arrived (starting at the front door) security was amazing - the hostess was - and the waitress also - they were honest and let us know we had a 90 minute limit - we had such an amazing time the 90 minutes flew by and we didn't want to leave - but def understood - if you're in the area this is a must !!! read more

Aya's take: I usually don't write reviews for speakeasies/bars but Seville really exceeded my expectations. Since it's fairly small, I highly recommend having a table so you and your group at least have your own space to sit, dance, drink, whatever. The music here is ON POINT. I rarely find places that play a good variety and include hip-hop/rap music. It's pretty lowkey so if you're looking for a good night out without being in an overly crowded place, I definitely recommend Seville! read more

I finally got a chance to experience Seville and it was a great time! I've tried to come here once before with a friend, but as others have mentioned, the staff at the front aren't always friendly. We arrived at 12:28 and we were told they weren't admitting anyone after 12:30am. When we pointed out the time discrepancy, the gentleman up front shrugged and turned us away anyway. So yeah, y'all lose a star for that one. We got there right before they finished their live performance, which was super fun to catch and stayed into the transition with the DJ. The DJ was doing good work with the aux. I heard 90s tunes, early 2000s, Drake summer hits, afrobeats, soca - I was livinggg. The place can get relatively packed but not uncomfortably so. And the drinks were pretty good. Expensive, but good. Keep in mind that their kitchen closes early. I had a lot of fun, and would consider making a reservation before coming next time. read more

Terrible customer service. Staying at the hotel above it. The hotel boasts this bar on the website and they're not even affiliated with it. Showed up at 10 PM was told by the hostess that they were not allowing any more people in for the rest of the night, the entire night, they're open until 2 AM. I looked in peaked around the corner. It wasn't even half full. I was well dressed collar shirt, dress shoes so that wasn't it. Save your money go someplace else. I don't recommend this place or the hotel. Hyatt should be ashamed to even have their name attached to it. I will be thinking about not staying at Hyatt from now on. read more

Highly recommend the octopus. Had good service from Aaron the manager who made sure that my friends and I were taken care of for her birthday after-party. Drinks: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Ambiance of this place is pretty cool, but a bit mixed. They have live music until ~ 10pm then a pretty good hip hop DJ the rest of the night. Docked a point because the bouncers are kind of standoffish and exclusive. Our table's server was very nice. The only drink I'd recommend from the menu was the Lion's Roar which is sweet with a bit of chilli. Every other drink was "just fine" - not standout and not very strong either. We came here to dance a bit because of the great DJ but the crowd was very much more of sit down and lounge vibe. read more

A friend of mine threw a surprise get together for her boyfriend and it was not a great experience. 1. Communication was not clear or consistent 2. Dress code is vague (seemingly on purpose). Smart street wear is subjective and also includes sneakers but there were multiple remarks made around what her guests wear wearing. It states: DRESS CODE Casual chic, with an emphasis on being polished. Glamour encouraged. We request that our patrons avoid tracksuits, flip flops, shorts, sports apparel, or, though we do welcome smart streetwear. 3. Front door man was condescending and not particularly helpful. 3. Staff was not on one accord. We heard different things front different staff so it felt like everyone was confused and not talking to each other. 4. If it is so important to have a card on file, why not ask for a deposit beforehand? You have to go through a very exciting maze to be greeted by a sleek hostess and a throwback ambiance that's pretty unique for the area. This cocktail bar feels like you're lounging around someone's living room, with the luxury of live jazz music. If you're an old soul, you'll fit right in. There's no meals served here, except some happy hour food, and a menu of fancy cocktails, so you can just chill after work and enjoy the vibe. I was hooked on the fabulous live music, although the room doesn't revolve around it, so it's possible to have a conversation with your date or friend on the velvet sofas while enjoying the music in the background. Trendy "try hard" indoor sunglasses...trying way too hard to be a cool club in MIDTOWN Manhattan. Literally grasping at straws and the lamest bar I've ever been to. Unless you have a table good luck getting in bc this nasty attitude bouncer will look you up and down and tell you to go to the back of the line. I hated my experience here. I had friends staying at the James Hotel. I've lived in NYC for 40 years and have been a creative director in the fashion industry. I live in Flatiron. I've started two fashion brands. I agreed to meet friends for a drink at the Bar at the hotel. I was turned away because I was wearing Italian black leather sandals on a summer night. The reason for denied entry was "dress code". I don't know Seville. I later looked up their "dress code," which indicates no "flip flops." Apparently, whoever is working the door does not know the difference between flip-flops and sandals. We went elsewhere that was more hospitable. I have no reason to return, nor would I recommend this Seville. read more
