On a whim, we did a little scan of yelp and it didn't steer us wrong. This little gem is located in the heart of Roswell - directly on Canton Street. There is a public parking lot just across the street (paid parking), which was very convenient and just steps from the entrance. When you walk thru the little blue door, there is a very charming wooden staircase up to the restaurant. The inside is very charming. Lots of natural wood decor and a touch on the antique side. We arrived for a late lunch and had our choose of places to sit. We chose to sit next to the bar with a beautiful view of the balcony and canton street. If the weather were nicer, that balcony would have been THE place to be. Our server was so A++. Since we were in the room by ourselves, she adjusted the music for us, which was very appreciated and personalized. We wanted a little throwback experience to traveling through France and the many little cafes that we visited. I ordered a croque madame with a side salad. My other half ordered an alsacienne flatbread. The madame was very hearty and the salad generous. It had a lovely Dijon vinaigrette, which I loved but some may find a bit sharp/spicy. The flatbread had a similar flavor to the Tarte Flambee but a different look. The dessert menu was tempting, but we didn't have any space for a sweet treat. Next time ... Would I go back - absolutely. I could also see this as a perfect place for a ladies lunch or brunch. With a little pre-planning, it could also be a really fun, upscale venue for a bridal/baby shower too. I can already imagine a glass of bubbles and being surrounded by family and friends. read more

Met three friends here for a Saturday brunch/lunch, and I would definitely say the ambiance is the star attraction. Tucked upstairs (enter from Canton Street next to Roswell Provisions) you enter a dining room that must date back to the late 1800s. Parking cost $10 across street, and paying for parking was best option because the whole area which is lined with restaurants was an ant farm! The menu leans toward lunch items (all French-inspired) and there's a wide selection of cocktails. The quiche got rave reviews from our table. The omelettes are made with four eggs and massive. Mine was very good and paired nicely with a simple salad. The only thing standing in way of five stars is that the service was a bit less attentive that I would have liked. I ordered coffee and had to remind the server halfway through meal that I had not yet received it. It was pretty busy, so allowing her some grace on this. All-in-all - a good place for conversation. There's no loud music to compete with. Always appreciate that. The Canton Street area in Roswell is definitely worth exploring. We decided to stop at Le Bistro for brunch on Sunday. The service was excellent, the building is awesome and has so much character and charm. The food seemed reasonably priced considering the area. However, after receiving the food, we were not very impressed. I had La Crepe de Poulet et champignons. The menu states the crepe has sautéed chicken, onions & mushrooms topped with béchamel sauce. Unfortunately the chicken tasted as if it were from a can, no flavor like one would expect if it were sautéed, plus the texture was like the chicken from a can. I was disappointed. It needed at minimum a bit more salt, but there were no salt shakers on the table. As for Le Croque Monsieur, it was good but nothing to write home about. On the bright side the Cream of Spinach soup was very good. Would we visit again? I would say yes, but it would be to try a dessert item and coffee. My family and I opted to dine-in for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait and ample seating. We were immediately greeted by our server and he was very friendly and helpful. The brunch menu consists of "create your own" crepes, omelettes, and Challah French toast with a variety of sides. I opted for the create your own omelette with Swiss cheese, spinach and mushrooms and it was delicious. I also got a side of bacon and it was deliciously cooked and a very generous portion. My family went with the omelette and Challah french toast. The French toast was so thick and rich, covered in fresh maple syrup and came with a side of cheesy hash--amazing! Definitely try the cheesy hash if you're here for brunch. Their menu offers an assortment of salads and sandwiches for lunch. A cute place in downtown Roswell. We sat on the balcony overlooking the street and we enjoyed the view. A perfect spot for people watching. French Dip is my all-time favorite sandwich so I was excited to try it on a nice fresh baguette. Unfortunately, it didn't make my list of favorite versions of it. My daughter tried the au jus and said it had no flavor, just salty. She said Arby's is better! Although the meat on the sandwich was plenty, it was pretty flavorless and not super tender. Not bad, but nothing special, especially for the price. The French Onion soup was quite different than any I've had before - the broth was thick, almost creamy. Great flavor! We went there for brunch today. It was nice, I love the building and decor. We sat on the balcony which was still cool even though it was in the 90s. We started with the Brie. I enjoyed it, although the croutons were a little hard. My husband ordered the omelette, cheesy hash browns and espresso martini. He loved the omelette and the martini. He thought the hash browns were ok. I ordered the quiche Lorraine, a side of French onion soup and grapefruit mimosa. I really enjoyed the quiche and mimosa. The décor is lovely and I can't fault it. The service was great also and it always has been. The deserts downstairs have always been great also especially the truffles. Today's review is based solely on my lunch today and the taste. I ordered a croque Monsieur and it's my favourite sandwich in the world. I've eaten it all over the world and today's was the most disappointing and quite sickly. Tasteless and sickly and just a complete fail. My family drove here for one of our favorite lunches (we come twice a month) & the woman I spoke to at the market downstairs, when I presented to her that Yelp & online says the bistro is open today responded "well we have a lot going on right now & that's not really our top priority." I had lunch at Le Bistro with a friend last week on September 28th. I paid with my American Express card. Later in the day I received an email from AmEx letting me know that my card had been used for a transaction at WalMart, which they had declined. They then cancelled my card and mailed me a new card. The only transaction on AmEx that day was for our lunch at Le Bistro, There is no doubt that someone at your establishment tried to fraudulently use my card for a WalMart transaction - I have never shopped at WalMart either in person or online. I've been several times and always enjoyed everything i've had. The restaurant has a lovely ambience, kind staff members, and the outdoor seating is homey and has a great view of downtown Roswell. My favorite thing to order is the jambon-beurre with tomato bisque. It's a simple concept but they pull it off so well. I would say the jambon-beurre is quite authentic in comparison to those I've had in France, and the tomato bisque is creamy and delicious. The strawberry shortcake is great as well. The attached store, Roswell Provisions has great coffee and desserts if you're in a rush. I definitely would recommend if you're in Roswell. read more

The service was spot on and so was the food. My wife did mention the crepe was a little too thick, more like a pancake than crepe. My Flammekueche was a good interpretation. The upper deck dining is very quaint and charming with views of the restaurant row. /FOOD  The ratatouille is hearty and delicious as was their salads and the classic croque. It's not exactly cheap here so prepare for a bit of sticker shock when you sit down. If you're not hear for the food, necessarily, grab some dessert and order up some coffee. Such style and grace under one little roof. The wait staff is very polite and attentive the moment you land inside. The seating space is French country chic and charming especially the swinging bench outdoors on the balcony deck overlooking the square. Along with the friendliness, the food is impeccable. Pierre was great all around. He made recommendations for food and even Roswell activities. I went with the Bailey Cream Cake. It's a shot of the coffee liqueur, cream cheese pound cake, and vanilla ice cream with a dollop of whipped cream. I added strawberries and chocolate drizzle (instead of caramel drizzle). The first bite was heavenly! I was floating through velvet clouds; it was merely joy in every bite. I returned weeks later for this very dessert and an hour d'oeuvr and entree. It was time and money well spent. The dill, horseradish sauce, and smoked salmon crostinis were flawless along with bouche a la reine, a puffed savory pastry that's reminiscent of a (fancy) pot pie with chunks of white chicken and tasty thick béchamel sauce. If you haven't been to downtown Roswell to stroll the galleries and pick among the dozen or so restaurants, you really owe it to yourself and your gullet to do so. And we did just this on a recent Saturday. Most restaurants are street level, but there was this one that caught our eye. On a second floor balcony, New Orleans style, were bistro tables and folks enjoying lunch. The French flag was fluttering in the breeze in front of "Le Bistro". Oh, how cute! A little french cafe-ish thing. We trundled up 15 or so well worn steps (keep that in mind when you're taking Granny to brunch) that led to their upstairs dining room of probably 25-30 seats. An adjacent bar was in its own room, although the back bar wasn't particularly well stocked - the basics for sure, but nothing more. A friendly hostess greeted and guided us to the somewhat cramped balcony where metal patio furniture awaited. For whatever odd reason the Le Bistro owners opted for some oddly sized furniture and a very inconveniently placed buss table that challenged everyone passing it by including their own servers. The view of the comings and goings along the street is lovely and certainly contributed to a far less productive afternoon than was originally planned. Now the service. You know, that part where the waitstaff quickly arrives at your table to greet you, orient you on the restaurant and the menu, offer guidance on the menu, drink orders and such. Yeah. None of that. Now, the poor kid who was waiting on us wasn't mean spirited, angry or any of those things. He was just.... sllloooowww. With everything. And it wasn't that the pace of Le Bistro was slow - his parter, well she handled twice the tables in half the time it took him to help us. Every interaction we had to pull information from him - no explanation of the menu, or proactive listing of the soup of the day, or other special items. Just unfortunate. And it didn't seem that it was a case of the "bad day" either. I think that was just him. Nice guy, but waiting tables is really not his gig, and it reflected poorly on Le Bistro. The food was fine. Nothing magical, nothing terrible. I wouldn't make a special trip to eat there, but would consider stopping in if it was a lovely Saturday and there were tables on the balcony. Now, their baguette, was solid. Not sure if they are baking in house or sourcing... no matter, it was quite tasty. First course was their cheese board for $10 that the server plopped on our table and split without bothering to explain the cheese selections as it is called out on the menu as "a selection of cheese from our market". There was a delightfully rich brie, a questionable smoked almost pepper jack and a run of the mill wine washed goat cheese. All fine, but nothing amazing. And given no engagement by wait staff, I couldn't tell you anything more about them. A Nicoise salad for $13.95 arrived with properly seared tuna, overcooked hard boiled eggs and a giant fistfull of green and red bell peppers in addition to the usual Nicoise components. The veggies were fresh. The French dip with French Onion Soup. Meh. The good news? It was on that lovely baguette bread. The beef was clearly fresh prepared, but was generally devoid of any flavor or seasoning. It allegedly came with horseradish sauce, but I wasn't able to detect or find it. Forgotten maybe? The au jus was a giant flavor bomb, as it perhaps should be, with loads of fresh thyme. I'd probably order differently next time. The french onion soup. Unless I'm missing something, I don't think nearly raw, crunchy onions are part of a french onion soup. What should be in there are those almost melting long cooked onions that form that unctuous base and rich sweetness of the soup. This was more beef stock meets onions with a slice of bread and cheese. Unfortunately when it arrived along with the sandwich the soup was luke warm. Parking is a challenge around downtown Roswell, so if you're heading that way, plan accordingly and know you may need to either park a bit of a distance, or pay for parking in one of the pay lots, this visit it was $5. Overall, the lack of service was the biggest demerit especially when you can compare two servers and how they are handling their tables in such close proximity, and this would be the biggest driver to not return. Food was decent, but nothing stood out as amazing. Not a destination restaurant for sure, but if you're in the area and need that balcony time there are certainly worse choices to be made. Hosted a private event birthday party here with 60+ people and it was fantastic. We had a menu of heavy apps and cupcakes - food was really good. Bar was fun and servers kept drinks pouring. The downstairs area is excellent. I've purchased wine and other goodies and have never been disappointed with that. The Bistro upstairs, however, is not. Service was ridiculously slow (they were not busy). Martinis were 1/10 purely because they at least had vodka in them. Tasted like artificial or spoiled olive juice mixed in with the vodka. No effort to chill the vodka as both were room temperature and not one olive in sight. The brie was awful (you're a French restaurant!). Toast points/bread that was brought out was harder than the table and the brie was left in the dish it was microwaved in, leaving the skin on the brie rubbery and cheese itself was inedible and a consistency similar to mayonnaise. 2 drinks and the brie cost almost $70. Will not be returning for food in the Bistro. The downstairs area is the only saving grace. read more

Went here with some friend to play catch-up and listen to some live music. First of all, if you are expecting food, don't. Apparently they are in the process of changing over to tapas? I am not really clear because our waitress didn't seem to know why there was french onion soup listed on their "Specials" board but they no longer have it. Also, the Nicoise Salad (which is one of the reasons we chose this restaurant) they no longer have. So, we had a choice of the meat & cheese board, Sesame Ponzu Wings, Flatbread onion pizza and popcorn. The Asian fusion popcorn is AMAZING and I highly recommend it. The drinks were very good and our waitress was attentive enough that my friends drank 5 bottles of wine over the course of the evening. (DD, anyone?) The band was very good and engaged with the crown well. As the night got later, there was lots of dancing. My favorite place on the Roswell Square? No. Worth stopping through to hear the band and have drinks? Definitely. Just eat before you go. Except the popcorn. Definitely have the popcorn. Also, they only have a single bathroom. So later in the evening the wait for the loo can be quite long. Yes. It is cozy, with good ambiance but their wait staff and menu needs some work. read more

We went there only for dessert because we had lunch before-the restaurant was super lovely! The decor was antique and unique, it was cold compared to the temperature outside so we chose to sat at the balcony area. The atmosphere was very nice but the balcony was kind of cramped. Right when we were seated the waitress told us that beer bottles that we had with us were not allowed outside the balcony. She told us that there were cases of the bottles being dropped outside, which is understandable. Her attitude was kind of cutoff but she got us our water and order pretty fast. The two desserts we got were really good though! It might be me but I preferred the strawberry shortcake more than the banana split cake, but the vanilla ice cream hidden inside the crepe tasted great. Had a yen for Salad Nicoise, so called to ask for takeout. No problem, set pickup for a hour. Very helpful and friendly. Got there early for a 4:30 pickup, poked around the market and went upstairs. Nice atmosphere and staff very friendly. Enjoyed a Stella and chat with the staff and order came out. Rookie mistake, ordered two for wife and I, could have split one. Very generous seared Ahi tuna, yummy dressing. No anchovies so added own. With loaf of French bread, dinner for two days and a small side salad on day three. I'm a huge fan of French cafes and this is a really nice one. Here's what I love: Ambiance: It couldn't be cuter. I mean, it is the most southern French cafe I've ever seen and the marriage of the two decors works way better than I think most people would think. It's like a shabby chic wonderland. I love it because it really does have a sense of place even while being French. If that makes any sense at all. Food: The chicken salad sandwich is amazing, as is their bread. The stand out though have been the soups. No joke. Now, you may not want soup in the hellishly hot Georgia summers, and ok find, but if you can at all bring yourself to order one, do it. The menu isn't super extensive (unless you count the desserts) and the food is probably their weakest point, but it's great for sandwiches and salads and decent for crepes. Wine: The list isn't extensive, but what they have is good. You don't have to have a crazy huge wine list, you just need a good one and that's what they have. Service: The gal killed a bug that flew in through the open window when I was scared. I would give a 5 star review on service for that alone, but she was also super personable and nice, and every other server we've had has been too. Coffee: We've had coffee here a couple times (since it comes from the store bellow) and it's damn good coffee. (Can I say damn on Yelp? let's find out) I'm a coffee snob and will gladly throw back the black stuff here which makes me very happy. What I didn't like: croque monsieur - I'm super picky here though so maybe don't read too much into that. Hell, I may not know what an authentic croque monsieur really is as I learned to love them at a place in Seattle which probably made them in a bastardized, all be it delicious way. However, if you're that rare (maybe non-existant) person looking for a croque monsieur done like they do them at Presse Cafe in Seattle, then maybe don't order it here. Overall, I'd say this is currently my fave little french cafe in the ATL (ITP or OTP) and I really need to go more often. read more

I've only been to this place once, but I intend to go back. It's an upstairs restaurant located over Roswell Provisions on Canton Street. The menu is French country (quiche, salads, sandwiches, wine, crepes, wine, and coffee). But it is really the dessert that shines, with combinations of ice cream, pastries, and liquors. Any of the baked goods or beverages sold at Roswell Provisions can be enjoyed at the cafe. The cafe has three or four rooms with different chic seating arrangements, that can accommodate a lone diner or a large group. The outside porch has a nice view and affords you a breeze in the summer. The drawbacks are few, but worth mentioning. The porch can get a little hot. The only sources of cooling are some overhead fans and Mother Nature's lungs. The menu does not include a list of all the things that can be ordered from the store downstairs and our waitress was clueless as to their offerings, so we had to get our hineys up and walk down to see for ourselves. Our waitress also acted a little bit oddly. She wasn't rude by any means, but you would have thought that we were the first humans she had had contact with in years (even though we were not the only customers that day) and she was just very hesitant and reserved when she interacted with us. This is the kind of place that you go to for the experience (as opposed to the grub), so you kind of expect the service in such a venue to be stellar. Also, though no fault of Le Bistro or Roswell Provisions, parking on Canton Street has become a massive pain. We parked at the Wells Fargo (because we do bank there, so it's all good, right?) and walked a block. read more

This place is a beautiful 'French country' restaurant on Canton St. It is 'upstairs' over Roswell Provisions . The menu is pure French with quiche, salads, sandwiches, soups, and weekend specials. We had let Cyril know that mussels were sounding good, so he made them for us as the weekend special. Fantastic!! The wine/cream sauce was amazing. The mussels were perfect! How do I even begin to express my love for Le Bistro? Sitting in the converted house on a bustling sector of downtown Roswell brings to mind old world charm and grace. My girlfriends and I went on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at 1pm and the restaurant was not busy at all. Located on the second floor above Roswell Provisions, we got a table in a dining room with lots of natural light. If the weather were warmer, we surely would have requested a patio table so we could take in the hustle and bustle of downtown Roswell from above. Service was amazing and attentive. The staff was completely tolerant of my group of friends who can sometimes get a little loud when excited. :) We sampled a lot of things on their menu but our favorites dishes were the spinach vegetable quiche, croque Madame with fried egg on top, and the ham crepe. I absolutely could not get enough of their side of ratatouille but did not especially care for the French onion soup. It tasted too much like alcohol, which might be a bonus for others! The chicken salad sandwich would have been good except that it came on super toasted sourdough bread. I think if the bread was different, I would have liked it better. The BEST part about Le Bistro are their amazing desserts and coffee. Coffee comes out in adorable mugs and saucers and pairs so well with all their baked goods. The brownie sundae was delectable. Our favorite though? The strawberry shortcake. It was the perfect amount of sweetness paired with light airy whipped cream and vanilla bean ice cream. Such a quaint French bistro. I went for brunch on a Saturday and ate out on their balcony that overlooked the beautiful Canton street. Can't recommend this place enough! The food was delicious, and the desserts were out of this world. Highly recommend the French Dip sandwich and the Kahlua Coffee Toffee dessert. read more

I am a huge fan of Roswell Provisions and I was delighted to discover Le Bistro just above it. I met some friends for lunch and it was warm enough to sit on the balcony outside. What a view for people watching and enjoying company with friends! My friends ordered three of the quiches to share, and loved every one of them. I ordered La Salade du Poulet sandwich, which was on a fresh baguette and simply phenomenal. Even though we were so full, we couldn't resist ordering 3 cupcakes to share, and that was definitely the right decision. :) The only thing that kept me from giving this place 5 stars was the service. Our particular waitress did not seem to want to serve us and simply took forever to take our order. Other than the service, everything was wonderful and I cannot wait to return! read more

The restaurant has cute decor and a nice ambiance. However, for me, the charm stopped there! Met friends for lunch. Overall, the dining experience was a "no repeat"! I ordered the "plate" lunch with french onion soup and La Bouche a la Reine. The french onion soup was actually very sweet and not appetizing for me. It tasted like someone had poured sugar in it. From the first bite, the La Bouche a la Reine was not appetizing at all. The chicken was tough, and it was smothered in so much unsavory white sauce that I couldn't eat it. Someone at the table suggested that I take it home to see if my husband would want it. I did that. However, he, too, took one bite and did not want more. So, the whole meal was thrown out. Total waste of money! On another note, the desserts were better. The table shared a plate of macaroons and a creme brûlée. The macaroons were good; and the creme brûlée was good but not the creamiest that I've had. I would not go there specifically for it; but I would eat it again. Overall, it was a very disappointing dining experience that I won't be in a hurry to repeat. read more

This place was very yummy. The seating was so cute, especially if you sit outside because you can watch the streets of downtown Roswell. It is a little pricey, but the salads were good. The annoying thing is to add any kind of meat to a salad it's $5.25 which is too much in my opinion. I got the arugula salad with grilled chicken, and it was good! They also had really good looking desserts but we didn't get one. May be back soon! read more

Came here because I've been craving French onion soup and saw great things. To my surprise I wasn't extremely impressed but it was still okay. Also ordered a cheese and meat plate. Unfortunately the waitress didn't explain what everything was. One of the cheeses they have which I still do not know what it's called is amazing it has cranberries inside and tastes like maybe a brie? Either way still delish and the bread served with the plate is great! I also ordered a chicken salad sandwich. I was unsure about the chicken salad having grapes but it was amazing. For dessert i opted for the crème brûlée it was amazing and hit the spot! Definitely a cute little spot to hangout and I'll for sure be back read more
