I had high hopes for this place and on the surface everything was beautiful. However, some of the finishing touches were lacking. I love a really pulpy orange juice but the number of seeds in this small cup was ridiculous. You had to try to strain it through your teeth or get a mouth full of seeds that you then have to spit in a napkin or, even worse, back in the cup. Pancakes were mediocre...no butter and one small cup of syrup. The tomato and mozzarella sandwich looked and tasted like something you'd get on a long haul flight. This is a cute little coffee shop that also has ice cream. We stopped in on our way to go hiking and the coffee machine was broken. That was a bummer so we opted for pour overs. Came here for a bite to eat after our hike, around 12 PM on Saturday, which I assume is its busiest time, but thankfully, we didn't let that deter us! This place is incredible. The salads and sandwiches are elevated with well balanced flavors and fresh local ingredients. The made to order espresso drinks cater to every taste- try the Matcha lavender latte! The pastries are seasonal and worth the splurge. My niece and I were so excited to have a picnic by the beach and have some girl time. We pulled up the menu from my car to just be able to go in and out & not linger inside. We were so hungry after just completing a hike. There are two people ahead of us no worries, and I noticed the cashier kept saying sorry but I just didn't think anything of it, and didn't mind the long wait. Finally it's our turn, and I order a Chai, and the guy says oh we don't have the chai we normally use something else... so I say oh no worries, let me get a lavender honey oat latte, and a BLT and he says the chef is out to lunch and won't be back for another 30 minutes. I'm like so none of the food items are available and he said not now. I've never heard of that before!? Like no chef backup or assistant ? At this point we were bummed out that we kept having issues, but we went ahead and decided to just order some baked goods since he said those just needed to be warmed up. When he rung us up I noticed he double charged a drip coffee (6.75) so he corrected. The guy seemed really confused the whole time, but the barista was such a sweet lovely lady, that's what my 1 star is - for her. Otherwise very disappointed from our visit. read more

Very Malibu-esque cafe with good drinks and cute interior design! I ordered an iced latte and liked how I was able to substitute almond milk (so whole milk wouldn't destroy my lactose intolerant self) for $1 and add vanilla flavoring for $0.50. The latte itself was just to my liking--sweet and creamy. It was a bit expensive but I mean, it's Malibu so what do you expect. The workers were super nice and my latte came out very quick. I'd suggest bringing your own straw though if you can since they only have paper straws which quickly broke apart in my drink. Loved the flower wall they have in the store and while there isn't much seating inside, there's plenty of tables and chairs right outside. They also keep a very clean restroom inside the store. Also there's ample parking since it's shared with the Pavilions parking lot! Overall a great coffee spot and would be interested in coming back again to try their pastries or ice cream! read more

While waiting for our pizza at D'Amores we decided to go check out this little shop! I love that have vegan ice cream flavors!! And that they allow you to try the flavors before committing to a scoop. I ended up getting a split scoop of the pineapple basil and the raspberry lychee flavors - they are incredible! My friend got the banana blueberry which honestly tasted like banana bread. It was so good! They also have food which I was curious to try but maybe another time. You can tell that they put a lot of care into the flavors they create and the quality of ingredients they use. Definitely worth making a stop here! read more

Wanted to grab a coffee before hitting the beach, and this place looked so cute! I ordered the yin yang latte and then I saw the ice cream flavors and had to try!! I ordered the goat cheese and honey. When the barista went to get my ice cream, he noticed that it had separated and offered me a sample before giving me a whole cup. It was good, but yeah, it had separated so you ended up with a lot of drippy honey which was kind of a mess (tasted good though!). He then went above and beyond giving me samples of other flavors to help me figure out which else I would want. Legit I think I had an entire second cup of ice cream with just tasters. I ended up choosing the banana and fig five spice after being told it "tastes like fall." And they are absolutely right, it tastes like fall. Plus figs are my absolute favorite fruit. I really enjoyed this flavor, but my friend did not. He said it tasted like mushy banana. (I still loved it). So, def taste it first just in case! The latte was also really good. It's a pretty basic latte though, so don't go in expecting this crazy amazing thing then be disappointed when it's just a latte. A good latte, nonetheless. The best part was the staff though. I want to like this cafe! It is close and the coffee and the food items are great! Unfortunately, 3 times when I have paid the charges that showed up on my record were 2 or 3 times the amount of the items bought. Also, I have tried ordering through their web site to find that, although charged, no order was placed. They are busy, which is good, but there are problems with social distancing. Their 2 cash registers are right next to each other and so it is impossible to pay AND socially distance. They need to move the cash registers apart. Their staff is great, they try hard in difficult circumstances. These problems are owner and management problems. I will not be returning. read more

was craving ice cream after leaving Malibu Farm Cafe and found this gem on our way back home and I'm glad we did! It's hidden away in a small plaza. I was most impressed with their customer service. There was a separate line for ordering ice cream and a separate line for ordering food so we were served pretty quickly. Despite having to go outside to taste different flavors, the staff didn't make us feel uncomfortable or at an inconvenience as we asked to taste a bunch of flavors haha. To top it off, they threw in an extra baby scoop of their recommended flavors which was very nice. The black vanilla was delicious and so was the pistachio. The cones could have been a little more fresh but it was overall very yummy. They have unique flavors and all were very good. The baristas and employees are very kind and the coffee is good, but for heavens sake do everyone a favor and get two barista on two machines please. I reconfirmed within your reviews that your #1 miss is wait time. At least speed up the coffee. As for the food, we'll it's clear your not setup to serve such a broad menu. read more

The BEST chai I have ever had!! I don't drink coffee so I always get a chai, and usually leave feeling underwhelmed. But this Chai was amazing. Literally the beat Chai ever. We also got the "small" sandwich which comes in the skinny baguette and it's perfect bite size. The soups were great and the Macha was apparently very very good too (our friend got it). This places coffee is the most horrible coffee I've ever had. If I was stranded in a 120* desert I still wouldn't drink it. Also the employees were so rude to us. 0/10 experience. It also smells weird as hell inside. Update: we complained about coffee and they gave us even worst ones then before. It tastes like I'm drinking expired cream or milk and the coffee is even worst. The worker said it must be a bad batch of the cold brew. It could be possible that it's like months old. They always seem to find a way to mess up your order or it ends up taking over an hour to pick up pre-made food bowls. They will not refund your card when they forget an item on your online order.
