Don't bring your dog here! My friends dog who I love very much was drugged and traumatized here! He also has a cut on him that was not there before and is causing him discomfort. The people working there said he was barking and snappy when his legs were being touched and that's literally never happened anywhere else. I play with and pet this dog all over and he's never barked at me or got snappy. I think they lied so that they would have an excuse to drug him and make their job easier. Don't go here! The 6 years we've had my family dog he's never been aggressive when being groomed. Was told he was trying to snap and bite! Don't believe it! When he was picked up he was lethargic, disoriented, just so drowsy he was definitely given something because even after a few days he's been having diarrhea. When my sister reached out to Nelson his response was he was moving around too much, and struggling while being groomed that's why he was acting the way he was. I took my 2 dogs here for 2 years because it was on the way to my kid's school. The experience is okay, but it was convenient. The nail trim is poor and I tolerated. However, my dog started breaking his nails and it caused him to limp. I brought to Nelson's attention how one busy day the dogs were still covered in hair after the grooming and that their nails were too long. He proceeded to tell me it took 30 minutes to clean up after my dogs, and explained to me why the nails cannot get trimmed shorter. Poor customer services and poor work. read more

TRULY SENT FROM HEAVEN. My pup, a pom/maltese, maltipom has more of the pomeranian side, which includes the second coat. AKA undercoat. If you ever cut that area, it will grow back UGLY. Many noob groomers do that. I did my research and relentlessly handed my baby to Nelson. I was very specific as to what I wanted done. When I saw Truffles F baby Chiu, I was ecstatic! He was the cuterest baby on Earth. All clean and fresh and happy. Nelson said he was the calmest thing, very "gwai"(behaved in cantonese) Which is definitely shocking because when I try to groom him, he'd whine and scratch at anything he can. For 51 dollars, his anal glands were expressed( Thank gawd, no more rubbing your butt on my mattress and carpet!), teeth cleaned, nails trimmed, hurr cuttt, wee wee hair cut AHAHAHHA, and smelled amazing. I burried my face to his fur. His expression was priceless! The fragrant pup lasted for a WEEK before smelling like a dog again! Nelson then had a long chat with us about different foods we should try, and many other suggestions. He was soooo nice. The next time I returned needing a flea bath, poor baby attracted some fleas while I was on vacation:( Nelson assured me that he would be a-okay! My boyfriend&I sat there for a bit while Nelsons son was eating his food. My boyfriend has a habit on messing with kids to see what they'd do, so the whole time my boyfriend kept scooting over to see if the son would scoot, he was sooo funny and cute! Kept me entertained while waiting for my dog, ahahah sad/cruel, but really funny, sweet, and cute! Its so nice that its a family business. Nelson really cares about the family and pets! When I brought them in they were dirty and matted... first time dog owner so I didn't know where to start with grooming but le chien truly knew what to do to make them shine and smell so sweet. Nelson took his time getting every mat out and then showed me which brush would be best since I didn't have the right brush which I was able to buy from him which made it easy for me. Just overall we got a very warm and positive vibe from Nelson and his salon and my family will be back for grooming again. Nelson is both a pro and a sweetheart! He was incredibly kind to my slightly skittish tiny toy terrier, Gloria. He gave her a beautiful light trim, exactly as I requested. When I picked her up she was happy to see me, but not traumatized (as she was with the last groomer). Nelson is so great! I sent him and email and also called. I received a recording saying he was on vacation so I assumed he would get back to me the morning after he got in. However, at 8pm on Friday I got an email back from him saying he could take my dog the next morning and gave me a great price! $80 for a bath, haircut, teeth cleaning, nails trimmed, etc. My dog is a 45lb lab. So I dropped Ari off at 11:30am and got a call at 2:30 letting me know he was ready. Nelson told me since my dog is finicky about people touching his paws they had the whole team holding him down, but they got it done! ALSO! I normally hate the way my dog looks after a haircut, normally I complain that he looks bald but my boyfriend likes him shaved because otherwise he sheds when he gets hot. But I was so happy with how he turned out this time, he is still very soft and looks amazing but alas he no longer sheds (for the time being). He also has this "belly card" program, like a loyalty program which is cool. I'm just happy that I found a groomer who I feel comfortable bringing my dog to every time he needs something done now! PS He takes card! Most groomers I've found only take cash which can be a hassle, so I'm glad Nelson lives in the 21st century with the rest of us. read more

So I've been holding off on this review for a couple of weeks. What pushed me to write this review was Nelson calling me three times in one week to bring my dog in... which to me is a little pushy. I just moved to the peninsula and was looking for a new groomer for my yorkie. I thought I did good research and narrowed it down to two places. Here and somewhere else. But Nelson could take my dog in sooner. I picked up my yorkie with a choppy cut between her eyes. It looks like someone unexperienced got a scissors and chop right across. Not very flattering. I wasn't going to say anything and just find another groomer for her next cut. Fast forward to a couple weeks down the road... Nelson calls me three times in one week leaving voicemails that it was time to bring in my dog for another haircut. I figured that if he didn't hear from me the first time that he would stop calling and wait for me to call back. But he didn't. I got so irritated I ended up blocking his number so I wouldn't get any more calls. I never had a groomer call me to bring my dog in... and call me multiple times. After my negative experience I also notice in the negative reviews that he has a history of choppy cuts. Just be careful. If you do bring your dog in... good luck. I'm now on a hunt for a new groomer in the peninsula. I hate writing negative reviews. read more

Nelson is a super nice & friendly guy; and its very easy to book an appt, even with short notice. That's the short list of pros. I've brought my 2 doggies here a few times on emergency (when they have to be groomed/washed asap). However, I would not bring them here if my main groomer can take them. I have a maltese and a pekingese mix and just ask for a simple, short cut. Their haircuts with Nelson always end up straggly and choppy. I can see the shaver lines on their backs. Their nails and hair between their toes remain long. He still has ALOT of skills to learn and his lack of experience with grooming shows on the haircuts. Try Pampered Pets down the block, their quality of grooming is very consistent, and they always listen to what I request. read more

Nelson was very friendly and punctual. He did a good job on my little girl. The big drawbacks to me are 1) that the shop was very noisy and stressful since he had the TV on and two very young and noisy children running around. 2) The parking is hit or miss since it's in a relatively busy shopping area. This just doesn't work for me since I'm disabled and can't walk very far. 3) The trim on my little girl was okay, but it grew out a bit straggly which is the earmark for a questionable trim. All in all okay, reasonable price, and friendly service. I won't be back because it just isn't worth it compared to the fabulous Curbside Cuts. read more

The first time I brought my dog here, her cut was great. No problems. I brought my dog here a second time--her hair cut was choppy. I brushed it off. I brought her a third time--choppy cut again, and he cut my dogs paw. I'm guessing it wouldn't stop bleeding because he had to put some green gunk on it ( I forget what its called). My mom was pissed he cut her. & it's really upsetting to re-read other people's reviews and see it's not the first time he's cut someone's dog while grooming them. For $55 I really don't think I should have to go home and fix it, which I did. I was expecting an artistic haircut, as opposed to a standard haircut, for my beloved dog.
